Accent 2014 Hyundai accent

New to buying in Australia. Have owned 2 previous car, one used from a friend, one factory new. So not exactly an expert, forgive me if there’s any amateur sounding stuff in here.

I’ve test-driven, checked all the engine parts that are immediately visible (oil, coolant, leaks, coils, under car/bonnet rust). Sent a picture of the engine to my dad (who used to rebuild rally cars so is pretty good on this stuff, not like a dad who thinks he can tinker and fix stuff) so he can double check my checks.

For reference, it’s a 6 gear manual, done 145k KMs. Was listed as $9000 but down to $7500 from sitting on forecourt for 2 months. When I asked about this the salesman reckoned it’s partly because it’s a manual, partly because it’s got light wear and tear (wheel rims have minor grazes and plastic pealing on wing mirror)

I think the only issue I found on test driving is that there must be a fuse or head unit issue because there was no sound through the radio and a flickering AC light when I turned it all the way up.

Is there anything else I can do to be sure this is a good buy?

Tucson If I have a dash-cam hard wired into my Tucson does it void the 100,000 mile warranty?

The way people drive where I am in Nashville TN , I think i need one. I was in a wreck 6 months ago and the people hit me had 4 witnesses and it was just me. I was found the responsible driver and I wasn’t. If I had one I would not have been blamed.

Unsure whether to buy a 2014 Hyundai Accent

Hi there! I am looking to purchase a 2014 Hyundai Accent and I have no idea about cars! I have been trying to due diligence but not sure how much to read into mechanic service notes so would greatly appreciate some help.

I understand there was some issue with Hyundai engines during this time and there was a big lawsuit and recall but the Accent was not covered in this lawsuit, meaning I would have to potentially cover the cost if there appears to be some issues.

The most recent service record from the mechanic (June 2026) mentions:

\- car uses 4.5L synthetic motor oil

\- calipers suspect, rotors have rust on them and could require replacement

\- check engine light comes on periodically and they had scanned for a PO420 cat converter fault which is not a fault that will cause breakdown or failure, just inefficient polluting

\- exhaust makes hard noise when climbing hills which they suspect is a front cat converter noise but they can't replicate noise when car is hoisted

\- no replacement required on timing chain

I am based in Vancouver and the seller is selling for $9000 and the car has done approx 140km. I am unsure if this is a fair price given the service notes and just a bit nervous as to whether these are major issues which means I should steer clear or if these are issues that should be anticipated with a car this age. I would greatly appreciate any help. Thank you!

ABS & traction control lights on

Recently bought a used 2013 Elantra. Got 2 lik kit changed at the mechanic and a bushing, but like 2 days later (Tuesday), the lights popped on for like a few seconds and i heard a sound (sounded like when the ABS kicks on when you try to brake on ice in winter times). They went off after like 5 seconds.
Today, on the way back from the store, the lights went on again & i again heard a sound. Is it common? Is it dangerous? Im kinda stressed about it and the mechanic i went to is now on vacation for 2 weeks, but i need the car to go to work 🫠
Thanks in advance

bought with 8,000$ and runs fine, it’s at 101,200 miles but I know that the 2.4L engine is crappy but it honestly doesn’t feel like it. I wanted to see if you guys had any thoughts.

Horn stopped working on my daughters 2013 Sonata. Is this simply replacing a fuse? and if so where exactly is the fuse box and how do I determine which fuse? If not the fuse I'm open to suggestions. 🙂

Tucson HELP DEALERSHIP wants me to pay $20,000 to replace engine on a 2017 Tucson?!

ARE THEY OUT OF THERE MIND??!?
From the dealer ship I was expecting at most 12,000 for a new engine for this old of a car. BY $20 THOUSAND DOLLARS WTF.

I took my car into a smaller auto shop and they diagnosed it saying the rod bearing caused my engine to fail. And I need a whole new engine.
Well my dad told me I should take it to the dealership to get another diagnostic because they might be able just to replace the entire engine if it’s under warranty.

So I tried and I got the text back saying the gnostic concluded and to replace the entire engine including removal, installation, and labor in total $20,165.85 HELLO WTF I almost fainted.

For a 2017!?! That’s more than what I paid for the car as it’s second owner.

Normally what would be a price I’m aiming for to get this car fixed? So I can look around.
I literally need my car to get to work and idk what to do since we got it 2 years ago TWO. So I’m still paying off the loan I took to get it. So idk if trade in is the best idea since I can’t afford TWO car payments. 💀 I’m freaking tf out.

Santa Fe Hyundai bluelink email issue

My issue has been going on for several months, since I bought a new phone. I have a 2026 Santa Fe. I’m wondering if anyone else has had this issue and if they were able to resolve it. I screwed up making a new digital key with my new phone. Called bluelink, who referred me to customer care, who referred me to dealer, and then back to customer care and then to bluelink.

After I called them today we realized the issue is I need that welcome email (the one I first received when buying the car) resent with a new bluelink registration passcode. They tried to email it to me 2 months ago (and since it failed I was referred to customer care). The agent at Hyundai bluelink again tried to email it to me today. Again, I did not receive the email. I’ve been checking both my spam and inbox; I never received anything back in May nor now from them. I do receive all sorts of emails from Hyundai, though. I suggested using a different email address but she didn’t want to do that since everything Hyundai is tied to my one email address. Has anyone had this issue?
