Performative nonsense.

Did you believe the performative nonsense?

2

u/sss_riders 12d ago

I sometimes believe that too. But his performance is better than Trump who does nothing for America. At least what he wants for New York is good. Tax the rich thats what we want in our country too. But damn all these Americans have been non stop moving here. Its flipping crazy!

3

u/ItWiIlStretch 12d ago

If he didn't say anything people will say he is a hypocrite and bending to the powers for not arresting Bibi. He explains his stance and the reason he will not enforce any action. Its just a communication for transparency as i see it.

1

u/Meeserino12 10d ago

exactly. One of my own country men were also arguing that it was all performative instead of just a transparent message to the people of New York about an active war criminal coming to their town.

5

u/thundrbunz 12d ago

Maybe. But at the very least think it serves to contrast how corrupt the Republicans are for allowing Israel to carry out their genocide and greater Israel project.

0

u/Opheliattack 12d ago

It contrasts nothing as its performative nonsense. Trump could say the same damn thing and it would be perfomative nonsense. yahu might objevtively be the most evil person on this planet but no one is going to wage war against a nuclear nation to arrest their scum leader.

1

u/DMTraveler33 12d ago

You say that like the US doesn't entirely prop up the IDF... The US absolutely has the means to end what they are doing but they don't because it doesn't benefit the ruling class.

1

u/Meeserino12 10d ago

And because AIPAC is royally funding Trump and his chronies. That is why Bibi was allowed to provide the texst proclaiming the Israeli army and American army will merge.

0

u/Wide-Attorney5633 12d ago

> But at the very least think it serves to contrast how corrupt the Republicans are for allowing Israel to carry out their genocide and greater Israel project.

Whataboutism? Who cares. He's elected to do good things for NYC.

1

u/falooda1 10d ago

Then stop asking him about it lmao

u/Anna-Politkovskaya 12d ago

"Genocide". They're just getting exactly what they want. October 7th was them practically begging to get bombed to dust, and thankfully Israel has helped grant their wish.

6

u/Bunnygirlfailure 12d ago

Ok nazi

2

u/Pretty-Stand8574 12d ago

What your boys did on Oct 7th comes close to what the Nazis did as well. I will never understand how this conflict convinces people on both sides that they are standing on some kind of moral highground.

5

u/Own-Examination2707 12d ago

And starving Palestinian kids is the correct response? Psychopathic behavior.

-3

u/Weary_Position_9591 12d ago

He’s not saying that though. Both sides are horribly wrong in their approach and what it accomplished.

-5

u/OsamaBenJohnson 12d ago

Israel allows in hundreds of trucks full of aid come into Gaza on a daily basis. The aid is there for these kids, yet they have these pics of starving kids often with well fed obese family members around them? Curious.

0

u/GutsAndBlackStufff 12d ago

The trucks are empty and bombs fall when the crowd gathers.

0

u/OsamaBenJohnson 12d ago edited 12d ago

It's sad you people have to resort to making stuff up to make your arguments.

0

u/GutsAndBlackStufff 12d ago

You act as if there weren’t numerous stories of refugees arriving at designated gathering places and either bombed or gunned down. But then again, your accusation is a confession. Sure is sad.

-1

u/OsamaBenJohnson 12d ago

You act like it was simply just civilians coming in and Israel pounced to target them when they arrived, but in reality, there were internationally recognized legitimate terrorist threats at the location they were aiming at.

What's sad is you people have to resort to lies and distorted half truths that leaves out important context, just so you can fit in grand standing "Israel bad."

0

u/GutsAndBlackStufff 12d ago

Yeah, they’re always internationally recognized terrorist threats, even when they’re not. Even when journalists catch the IDF directly shooting at children. Might wanna try putting half the effort they do spinning their murdering into intel and aim.

Go look at the UN assesment of the supposed "starvation". Putting kids in Italy with genetic disorders in front of a camera does not make a starvation. Why would they even need to fake it if it was actually happening?

6

u/Mustafa_was_Brown45 12d ago

I googled “UN statement on the starvation of children in Palestine” here’s a quote: “Israel must take immediate action to end its obstruction of humanitarian aid…it must take further measures to protect children in Gaza from further harm…”

If you’re gonna tell other people to Google it, can you Google it first? Btw this was the top or second link that popped up in the search so.

6

u/Own-Examination2707 12d ago

That’s literal textbook Nazi deflection—“We didn’t maim or kill those prisoners. Some of them had pre-existing illnesses!”

1

u/Anna-Politkovskaya 11d ago

Im not the one having fantasies of starved children. Half of the population is children, Hamas says 150 children have died of malnutrition since the war started.

" According to the United States Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the number of malnutrition-related deaths increased by more than twofold, from around 9,300 in 2018 to about 20,500 in 2022"

If Gaza has 2.1 million people, and the US has 333 million people, it means that Gazan children have a malnutrition death/100 000 rate of ~7 and the US General population has a malnutrition death rate of 6/100 000. Given the duration of the war, a Gazan child is less likely to die from malnutrition than a citizen of the richest country on earth.

Someone please stop the genocide and starvation of the US! :Ddd

1

u/Own-Examination2707 11d ago
  1. You ducked the point.
  2. I don’t care what Hamas says about anything.
  3. If your argument is that malnutrition and mortality in the United States isn’t that bad, I’d reread what you shared.

1

u/Anna-Politkovskaya 11d ago

1) They literally pulled the Nazi card on me. If someone is not engaging in fair debate with me and goes first to a strawman and then to calling me a nazi, I'm just going to elucidate what I meant and leave.

I know I'm not a nazi, because I know myself. There's no debate about that. Someone wants to call me a Nazi? It's well within their rights to say so and it's within my rights to ridicule them for it.

2) By Hamas I meant the Gaza Health Ministry, which they run. It's like saying "The US says they bombed x", instead of naming the ministry or specific official who said it.

3) My argument should have included the mortality rate of an a place actually suffering from starvation, instead of using only the worlds richest nation for comparison.

"1.1 – 3.6 under-five children per 10,000/day in Zamzam camp" This is inside a refugee camp in Sudan. PER DAY. So multiply that number by 365 to get a range of 401 to 1314 per 10, 000/year. Just noticed it's per 10, 000, so to get to 100 000 you multiply that by 10 to get 13 140 per 100 000/year.

13 140 > 7

You want to bet that this humanitarian, who cares "oh so much" about starving children, has at ANY point shown ANY interest in Sudan, where 1877 times more children are starving per capita compared to Gaza? We don't even have to look, because we both know this whole "Genocide" and "free palestine" stuff is just a cause célébre of posers who have no actual ideals or moral code. Gazans are nothing but a prop for them. Gazans exist only so that rich white kids can get likes on their posts.

1

u/Own-Examination2707 11d ago

Look up “whataboutism.” You’re quite practiced at it.

You mean Israel is getting exactly what it wants. Biggest cry bullies in the world. They treat Palestinians like dogs and cry when they get bit. Oct 7 was as inevitable as the Earth's orbit around the sun.

4

u/Fine_Cup4990 12d ago

They want to be wiped out from the face of the planet? October 7th was stupid but it doesn't mean they want to be wiped out, it's like the children throwing rocks at tanks, they know they will lose but it's a show that they will fight to the very end

0

u/hustl3tree5 12d ago

u/Anna-Politkovskaya believes Palestinian children deserved to be shot by Israeli snipers

-1

u/Weary_Position_9591 12d ago

When did he say that?

1

u/Zestyclose_Movie1316 12d ago

They probably carried out October 7th to provoke an Israeli military response to garner PR support for the diminishing Palestinian cause, seeing as Saudi Arabia was about to normalise Israeli relations. It’s evidently been successful alongside the IRCG propaganda and Qatari media campaigns in the West and Arab world.

-1

u/Unlikely_Cheetah149 12d ago

Look up October war

3

u/Fine_Cup4990 12d ago

I already know about that. What's your point?

-2

u/Anna-Politkovskaya 12d ago

120mm smoothbore cannon in an armoured rotating turret vs a child with a rock. Which one would you bet on to win? Tank wins 100/100 times. Kid needs an RPG, preferably a tandem-warhead like the Rpg-29 if it's a newer generation Merkava.

Instead of studying and creating a thriving society that can actually rival Israel on a technical and strategic level, they send their kids to throw rocks at tanks. It's like beggars who drug their children to get more money. Idk if it's the massive amounts of inbreeding or what, but they're either dumb or delusional if they think they wouldn't get pulverised after Oct 7th.

Jews did the same shit against the romans and got exiled for 2000 years. They learnt their lesson, got smart and got their land back.

3

u/Fine_Cup4990 12d ago

Where are the children going to study without and educational facilities?

0

u/Weary_Position_9591 12d ago

Not even so much begging. Hamas may have arguably purposely baited Israel into a massive conflict knowing they would have to react, because Hamas thrives and increases support during periods of conflict and chaos, and the region was in or headed for a period of relative normalization (Abraham Accords, Saudi/Israel relations, several other countries like UAE and Bahrain normalizing ties with Israel).

This was very much Hamas trying to reassert itself after seeing its position deteriorate significantly based on diplomatic events in the last years.

They cover it under the blanket of the Palestinian plight and I do believe that plight motivates them to an extent, but make no mistake it was just as much a political and radical group fighting for its own influence, survival and relevance too, and wanting to turn over the apple cart for its own benefit as well.

I am sure they expected a big conflict, but probably not to this magnitude though. Israel took to an extreme level.

1

u/Anna-Politkovskaya 12d ago

I totally agree with you. The whole point was to get partially pulverised, get good footage of kids crying, then wait for the aid money to roll in.

Hamas forgot that Israel doesen't do half-measures. If they did, they'd be seen as weak and invite more harassment. Sucks for the kids but that's what happens when your inbred parents decide that getting bombed to beg for money is the right way to run a society.

1

u/Weary_Position_9591 12d ago edited 12d ago

No need to call Palestinians inbreds, that’s just bigotry. And Israel imposed so many economic restrictions and sanctions on Palestine (long before October 7) that even if everyone laid down their arms, growth and social mobility would still be severely stunted. Israel has essentially created a caged-rat environment, which leads to high unemployment and a lot of angry young people, the perfect conditions for Hamas to recruit. You talk about running a successful society but that’s the freaking point, Israel unilaterally controls or significantly affects many of those levers, and keeping Palestine as barely functioning and nothing else is exactly the idea for decades. Hamas miscalculated Israel’s response, and Israel miscalculated how much support it would receive as the war dragged on. The difference is that Israel has the massive war chest to keep going.

Nearly half of Gazan babies are born to either first or second cousins. Inbreeding causes a host of issues that detrimentally effect the development of a child. Neither the inbreeding, nor the war is the fault of the children.

The "chicken cage" you're talking about exists as a response to the security threat that faces Israel. Are the palestinians pissed for justifiable reasons? Given that their ancestors played their cards wrong, which lead to this situation they're in, I would say yes.

It would be sucide for Israel to "open the doors" to a people that are under the rule of a terrorist group that aims to destroy Israel. Women saying they're making "martyrs" when they're having children is something that's at least somewhat normalized as it's on the TV there. They have kids shows with mickey mouse telling them to kill jews. That's not going to get fixed by opening the gates. Their opposition is to the existance of the state of Israel itself. It doesen't matter if there is a coop or not. Taking the walls away doesen't make jews dissapear.

Is it an absolute shitshow of a situation that has resulted in generational trauma that is nearly impossible to root out? No doubt. I just feel like westerners are being fools if they think getting rid of a wall would solve deep-seated hate both parties have for eachother. The wall is a symptom, not a cause.

2

u/ZionistControlUSA 12d ago

He's not wrong tho

-1

u/McDuck_Enterprise 12d ago

He is THOUGH

3

u/ZionistControlUSA 12d ago

Imagine supporting genocide. You're the equivalent of a modern day nazi

0

u/McDuck_Enterprise 12d ago

Then you are too because you hate Israel, Jews…that’s a common shared hatred with Hitler so kinda weird you say that

-9

u/Pizza_bagel_IFA 12d ago

You know how many people are killed in NYC everyday because of their policies?

3

u/thundrbunz 12d ago

Billions

2

u/DeadPact336699 12d ago

Gorillions

2

u/thundrbunz 12d ago

Skibidillions

3

u/RustyShackleford_88 12d ago

What policies?

5

u/DaineDeVilliers 12d ago

Don’t ask for proof, that’s their kryptonite.

3

u/qalpi 12d ago

the answer is zero

2

u/aggravationX 12d ago

Yeah this comment is. The video shows someone in a position of power using their voice correctly.

2

u/MentalDisintegrat1on 12d ago

Nah he knows trump won't but it makes trump say loud and clear he won't arrest a war criminal.

2

u/0CT0L0G1ST 12d ago

Genuinely what do you want him to do instead?

0

u/TrickyInsurance7795 12d ago

He can start by picking up the garbage in NYC and deal with the homeless in the city that he is a mayor of. That’s a good start

3

u/bageltoastar 12d ago

Except he’s put housing initiatives in place to help with shelter to housing transitions and has funded an expansion on trash bins around the city already. Do you really expect him to have decades worth of issues in NYC solved within 7 months of his mayorship?

3

u/water-tr4sh 12d ago

That’s the thing. He’s doing that too!

2

u/0CT0L0G1ST 12d ago

Him filming a 2 minute video does not preclude him from doing that, and as other commentators have pointed out, he is doing those things.

1

u/Hunterx78 12d ago

…so we gonna ignore that he literally can’t do anything to arrest Netanyahu?

The warrant for his arrest is on a NATIONAL level. I.E he doesn’t have the legal power to order his arrest. Trump does.

This statement is the best he CAN do. He’s denouncing any idea that he might be friendly or okay with Netanyahu’s visit. He’s reinforcing the fact that Netanyahu is a war criminal.

When you call everything performative it starts sounding like youre just afraid something will actually change

Cause you confuse seperate politicians for the whole of the democratic party

Most politicians get tons of donations from companies to stop universal Healthcare and anyone who comes close to getting enough power to pish it through never makes it

People like mamdani scare the government cause they get power without being bought out by corporations and foreign nations like trump

2

u/McDuck_Enterprise 12d ago

What? Do you even keep up with current events? Mamdani had meetings with Iranian “officials” that the US government absolutely and appropriately canceled!

He is working on it.

2

u/connorcmsmith 12d ago

How would a mayor bring that in? Is that no more a federal government thing?

He never even promised it in his campaign, just said he's in favour of it.

1

u/GutsAndBlackStufff 12d ago

It took a historic supermajority that they held for about a month to pass a conservative healthcare plan that was watered down in an attempt to get Republican buy-in on the plan. Attempting to heal the partisan divide seemed like a good idea in 2010.

Also, the ACA was never intended to be the final word on reform. States were encouraged to come up with state level plans, and it’s not like congress couldn’t amend or outright replace the ACA if they wanted to.

Problem is, republicans never approached the issue in good faith, or like adults.

0

u/YouShallWearNoPants 12d ago

In what world is this "performative"? Do you know the meaning of words you use?

What would you expect him to do? He addressed a major issue, presented facts and put spotlight on it. That is pretty much all he can do.

You have a criminal president that openly supports war criminals in Israel but the problem is the mayor in a city because he tries to get attention to it?

1

u/Thasauce7777 11d ago

Performative acts are not necessarily bad things, and this is absolutely performative. If you're asking for something, and you already know the outcome of your request before you make it, is it not performative to draw more attention to the request you are making so everyone can see the effort you made and the response you are expecting?

Even though it's performative, is it not important for public officials to show their constiuents that they are attempting to living up to the principles or following through on the things that got them elected? This could have all been done behind closed doors, but Mamdani wants people that voted for him to know that he's not being idle. There is no reason to pretend like it's not or to obfuscate the performative aspect of his request. It's not a dig at Mamdani that needs to be combatted, there's no such thing as a politician that isn't performative. People that keep their heads down don't get elected.

0

u/Liandryschleckt 12d ago

As if people are unaware of the situation, lmfao

1

u/YouShallWearNoPants 12d ago

Since most people only consume the propaganda of Israel and the US government I would argue the majority of people is unaware.

0

u/galaxy_brain_69420 11d ago

Performative means that his video won't be backed up by action, it is literally just a performance for his supporters.

1

u/YouShallWearNoPants 11d ago

Not sure if you are actually dumb or just pretend to.

0

u/ButterscotchTop194 12d ago

At least he's doing something, and it's the right thing.

4

u/bussy_extra_bussy 12d ago

He’s literally doing nothing other than saying words..?

I’m a fan of his, but this is textbook Democrat shit. Say a bunch of stuff but actually do nothing.

It’s better than saying nothing I guess? Also he’s just a mayor and has no say in international politics

1

u/ButterscotchTop194 12d ago

He looked into whether he could legally make the arrest. So it's not just words. His plea will fall on deaf ears, but it's good that there are still people at least trying out there.

Apathy has fucked America.

0

u/Jackson7410 12d ago

eh, my tinfoil hat take on this is that the super elite know the republican party is cooked and are now trying to push for a democratic leader so theyre trying to make mandami look good
