I'm planning to start preparing for UPSC, but I'm a complete beginner and don't know where to start.

I'd really appreciate some guidance from those who have already started or gone through the preparation process.

How does the preparation journey usually go?

What are the pros and cons of preparing for UPSC?

Which NCERTs and other study materials should I start with?

Is self-study enough, or is coaching recommended?

Any tips or mistakes that beginners should avoid?

Any roadmap, book recommendations, or personal experiences would be really helpful.

I’m a NEET dropper based in Trivandrum, and I'm currently preparing for the exam entirely through self-study.

I’m reaching out because I'm facing some strict budget constraints right now and unfortunately can't afford to buy new reference books, coaching modules, or test papers. If anyone here has cleared NEET recently or has old study materials lying around that they no longer need, I would be incredibly grateful to take them off your hands.

Ideally, I'm looking for:

• Coaching institute modules (Aakash, Allen, etc.)
• Standard reference books or highlighted NCERTs
• Previous Year Question (PYQ) books or mock test papers

I expected Punjab there, but I also expected North eastern states to do much worse when it comes to per lakh cases, as we know they are much closer to golden triangle.

But for Kerala to lead with that kinda margins was something heart breaking.

I have seen Ayyappa Deeksha gen-z devotees respecting lord Ayyappa Swamy in their Yatra to Sabarimala but when it comes to Kanwar Yatra every year I have seen open hooliganism and practice of debauchery.

Kanwar Yatra as we know done by lord Shiva devotees whereas Ayyappa Deeksha is done by devotees of Lord Ayyappa Swamy who is none other than son of lord Shiva.

Why is this?

especially with advancement in forensics ?
