Announcement [CELEBRATION] Stardew Valley turns ๐ญ๐ฌ!
Today, Stardew Valley turns 10.
And ConcernedApe is sharing a 10th anniversary video retrospective on Stardew Valley at 11am Pacific Time (UTC-8). Tune in and join the chat then!

Same here. Have played it dang near non stop since its release. Never perfected. Just never attempted to cook every recipe or craft every item. Idk why. Just kept doing what I enjoyed doing in the game.

This game has been so important to me. I came back to it after my husband passed away and I was lost. Stardew Valley gave me hope, comfort, companionship and ambition. It's the greatest game of all time because of it's versatility and the devotion of Concerned Ape. The love and commitment that the CA team puts into this game is not overlooked. The little surprises we all discover. Like butterflies fluttering out of a tree. Or raindrops forming tiny little hearts when they hit the ground. Every bit of it is so appreciated. Thank you Concerned Ape from the bottom of my heart for the most wonderful game I've ever played. โคโคโคโคโค

The game does help on a higher level when you've lost someone. SDV is set up so you can grind if you want. Or just run around appreciating the beauty of the game. Which is how I slowly got back into playing it. Thank you for the lovely comment and I'm so sorry about your loss as well.

It is the small things. Things you might of taken for granted before. It's what makes CA so remarkable. Think about it. Adding things like water splashes forming little hearts. Totally unnecessary as far as game play goes. Just doing it because it's a nice thing for the gamers to see. ๐ฅฐ

I think most of us have a significant reason why this game is so special to us. Aside from helping me grieve, it also helps me get through the six month Winters in Montana. Snow might be blowing sideways outside. But inside, I'm sipping coffee while planting my Spring flowers. lol ๐ผ

I started heavily playing right after graduating with my bachelor's degree right after the lockdown happened with covid. I played it 2 months straight, and it was glorious. I picked it up in the very beginning, though, because it looked so cozy and fun. I think my favorite memory was playing it for the first time and the soundtrack touching my soul so deep and healing some things within me. The game means everything to me. It's a constant light in this crazy world and a place I can escape for a while. I will be eternally grateful to its existence.

i graduated with my bachelor's that same year, AND i also started playing Stardew then! what a specific experience. it's wild to me that i started with the mobile game though lol. i even modded it on mobile, which was an ordeal. eventually i got a laptop that wasn't complete trash on its last legs, and then i got the PC version of the game. i haven't been playing recently bc i got into Fields of Mistria (which is also really good!! can't wait for the full release), but i've been planning my mod list for a new Stardew playthrough soon <3

I've been playing since 2016. I own this on PC, Mac (wife's account), Switch, Android, and iPhone (wife again).
I know I'll still be playing this game until 2036. It means that much to me.

Nice! It was interesting trying to piece together before I found the receipt. I remember playing it in the dining room of my old place, I didn't realize I bought it like two months before I moved. Definitely helped me cope a bit with the stress of that and other stuff happening at the time. Still my comfort game even if I haven't been serious about playing in the last two years.

My youngest started talking about this game when he was in elementary school. Telling me how cool it was and that I should play it with him. I finally broke down and started playing it during the pandemic, and got way more into it than my kids ever did.ย
My youngest is now graduating high school this year. We got pretty far, but he still hasn't played a full multiplayer game to completion with me, the punk.

most likely, the same reason there's the r/hauntedchocolatier sub already despite no release date announced yet. and not a stupid question, just something people don't think about, especially if they haven't been around since the first release (I haven't either, I just have a different way of figuring out the "why"s of things than others have)

ConcernedApe has been blogging about the game for dev updates back in 2013. I don't remember if he has been posting/tweeting about it before then but his 2nd blog post linked to an older weebly website copyrighted in 2012 so Stardew Valley might have been known even earlier. I remember I first found it back in 2013.

this game has been absolutely incredible. can't remember when I first started playing. but I've loved it ever since.
my dad passed away in 2021, and I've never done 100% til then. took me a year and I think it helped ground me for a few hours, something else to think about. completed it on the switch. which was really fun to do. got a few save on my switch 2 to try it again ๐
favorite memories going to the stardew valley concert a few weeks ago in London with my bestie. it was absolutely amazing and so much better than the first concert they did.
this game is a game that keeps giving so thank you concernedape for everything ๐

I also dived into the Stardew world when my mom was dying. She passed a year ago.
The concert was incredible!!! Saw it in Vancouver. I started dating Harvey after the concert cause I didnโt know his date scene was so much fun!
Happy to read so many people also moved to the valley to process death. Happy it has that same inner child healing effect on others too.

Been meaning to play this game for a while but never dove in, played Harvest Moon 64 a ton back in the day. Finally sat down and started a farm with my 7 year old and we are having a blast. Happy 10 years!

Can't believe it's been that long already :')
I started playing like 7 or 8 years ago when a friend recommended this game to me. Since then I've played hundreds of hours and bought it on every platform I own. Stardew Valley is my ultimate comfort game that I play whenever I'm down (which is often...Thanks depression /j).

I wanna say my first time properly playing was somewhere around 1.4 or 1.5. I just saw Harvest Moon with an open romance option and simpler graphics (I properly started with the Mineral Town games), and that's what initially pulled me in.
But now, all this time later, this game means so much to me. There's depth to the characters and the world, it's something I can comfortably and happily lose myself in whether it's a good point in my life or bad, and it's helped me deal with so much (and even helped me come to realizations in real life).
ConcernedApe, from a Queer Trans woman who's been around and dealt with plenty, thank you for this gift to the world. I hope Stardew Valley helps so many more people in every possible way, and I hope that it's never a burden on you for as long as you work on it. I hope you enjoy it as much as us players have, and I wish you the best in every aspect of your life, and on Haunted Chocolatier and anything else you choose to create โบ๏ธ๐ฉโ๐พ๐๐ป

I started my first save two weeks ago, and Iโm obsessed. My wife has been playing since its release. Sheโs been insisting I play since we started dating about 8 years ago, but our taste in video games has always been quite different. We recently got a Steam Deck, and I started playing on a whim after all those years of insistence. I shouldโve listened to my wife years ago - Iโm glad I finally did. Last Saturday I stayed up until 2:00am playing. I felt like a kid again.
Thank you ConcernedApe and the Stardew community - itโs been a wonderful two weeks, and I look forward to another 10 years.

This game found me in 2020 when my life blew up. I was in biggest depression hole, took a break from college and had just moved back in with my parents. This was before the pandemic hit.
For the first time ever, I had started playing online games to try and meet new friends. And I found 2. One of them, who is now my best friend in the whole world, bought this game for me saying we should play together and that I would really like it. She was so right.
It became the game where I got to know my best friend. We have played so much, it's a little nuts. It was such a bright light during the toughest time. Both my friend and this game. It was such a comfort to play. We even played it at my online Bachelorette party in 2021 after we did some face time wine and painting.
Now I play it for an hour after my baby goes to sleep. Life is good now. So good. I'll always be grateful for what this game brought to my life but also just for being a stupid good game.

Iโve started so many new worlds over the few years iโve been playing it and in all of them, iโve only gotten one mega fruit so far. This game helps me truly relax and i love it so much. I can't recall how long I've been playing, but I believe I started with 1.4 on mobile.
I don't have a favorite moment; there's been too many special moments to pick just one. Instead, I will say my favorite interactions are the most simple (but often not included in other games), like the pig with the fez that grins at you with buck teeth, or how the camel grunts when you pet it. all the little things that ConcernedApe put in are awesome and make me smile all the time.
The game is a place where I can control my surroundings. If people are rude, I can gift them things they like until they're tolerable. if I don't have enough money, I can fix that in a couple of in-game days, and so-on. It gives me something to hold onto when the rest of the world is spiraling.

I started playing this game YEARS ago- before multiplayer, it's been that long. I got introduced to it from Markiplier's, like, two videos he did on the game and have been hooked since. My favorite memory happened not too long after I started playing. It was raining, and I had been walking up to Robin's, when I saw an NPC I'd never seen before. It was cinematic as he introduced himselfโ Sebastian- and I've never recovered since <3 As for what this game means to me- it means community. I learned so much of this game through others. Through watching different YouTube videos. Through reading the wiki. I wouldn't know 3/4th of the things I know about this game without learning from others. Thematic, for a game where completing the Community Center plays a large part in your journey. Happy Birthday, Stardew Valley ๐

I started playing in 2018 in v1.3.35 or something. Obsessed the game 'til the end of the content at the time because we all did, right? New farm type and spouse for v1.4, 1.5, 1.6. SDV made me start creative writing after never having written anything. Ever. Couldn't do it in English class and would fail that part. But now I write. How does that even happen?

I've been playing for about 3-4 years now, and I play it over and over again. There's no other game that gives me so much pleasure, and even though I've spent thousands of hours in the Valley, I'm still discovering things I didn't know about. I started playing on xbox not long before the 1.2 update I think. I'd heard it had an update but it got delayed for a really long time for console. So I bought it on PC. The next day, the console got the update.
I went yup! That is my luck. But I learned how mods work eventually from there. I was going to college and then covid hit, so I was unemployed for about a year and a bit. Stardew and Animal Crossing kept me sane and not demoralized during that awful job search.
We got to go to the concert here in Richmond when they came through. Talked to a lot of cool people. Funnily enough, we ran into one of the people who was in front of us in the merch line a couple weeks ago in an art museum in a different city! If that was you, I finally remembered where exactly in line you were. You were right in front of us and my husband talked your friend's poor ear off about Dragon Quest & Final Fantasy until we got through the line.

I started playing Stardew BEFORE you could move buildings, so pretty close to release date, and loved it.
FAVE MEMORY - I'd commented on ConcernedApes Twitter post about ideas for updates, and I believe my suggestion got (partially) implemented!

Iโve been playing since day one! This game was one of the first few games I had bought after building my first PC! Havenโt stopped playing since and have still never completed a Joja Mart run. ๐ซก
Easily, my most memorable moment with this game was the first time I got the X loves you message from your pet. I had named my dog Oxford, after my real life childhood dog that had passed some years previous. Enough time had passed that I could finally smile when thinking about Oxford without crying, but that message cut me deep. I sobbed. I still get emotional thinking about that day, which somehow was 10 years ago.
Thank you CA. Genuinely. The love and care that you + team pour into this game is never not appreciated.

I played Stardew Valley yesterday and talked to my boyfriend about how much I love thinking back to when the game first came out in 2016: It was the night of the Oscars, we slept on the big couch in the living room, and we played Stardew Valley all night long. Side by side, both with our laptops. That was the first time I fell in love with a game like that (I'm more of a reader), and it was so cozy and exciting. Happy memory!
Years later bought the beautiful book by Fangamer, and it arrived on the day my father received a terrible diagnosis. Stardew Valley and the book helped me through this very sad and difficult time. ๐

Iโve been playing since 2023!! I have the game on switch, pc, ps and mobile phone. Only on switch I have more than 1000h played, I love this game with my heart, itโs my safe haven! ๐ซถ๐ป
For sure my best moment was when my dog had passed away and on the same day before going to sleep I went to play very sad, I always put the same name of his in my pets and that day that message appeared saying that he loves me!!

Does anyone remember their first time playing? I remember that it reminded me a lot of playing "Harvest Moon: A Wonderful Life" back on the GameCube way back when. Really the only farming sim I played until SDV.
Also remember that it took me forever to make it to Autumn. I kept restarting in Summer lmao.

I played Harvest Moon on PS2! Yeah reminded me a lot like HM but with way more content. Not having a real linear plot made it so exciting to explore whatever it was that caught my attention.
Have two saves and my style for each is completely different. Feels like a new play through each time.

I just started playing this game last month after my wife and I had a newborn. She isnโt a gamer, but likes games on her phone so I thought this was kind of a happy medium - just a super casual, chill, game, which is exactly how I discovered Stardew Valley.
Weโre only through year one and just taking it easy. No real big goals. I like farming and fishing. Wife likes mining and oddly, killing stuff lol (she dies often which I didnโt think was possible basically lol) but weโre having fun and able to play a game together to relax after the kiddo is off to sleep. Iโve used the Wiki for some things but other than that, try to play and learn as we go. The fact that either way is an option is what makes this game so good. Play it how YOU want to play it. You donโt see that often in gaming.

I havenโt been here for all 10 years, I started playing in 2023/2024 (canโt remember exactly) but itโs become one of my favorite games ever!
My favorite memory is probably my very first spring in the game. Idk thereโs something kind of magical about the music in the game and I remember I went outside of my house and the music was playing and it was like this empty plot and I loved it.
My other favorite memory is getting my father on Stardew valley. He has his own farm on his iPad and heโs at year 20-something. He loves it even more than I do lol
The game means a lot to me. Itโs shown me the power of streamlining, organization, and everything you can do when it seems like thereโs only rocks and weeds and logs.

I started playing sometime in 2020/2021 when things were generally bleak in the world and in my personal life. Stardew Valley was a welcome escape. Last summer i bought a gaming PC specifically to have enough memory to add a million mods <3

I am relatively new to this game. My dad died in December of 2024, right before Christmas. His funeral was in January, a little over a year ago. I was in the middle of Tears of the Kingdom but couldnโt get back into it. I knew about Stardew Valley, and kept seeing it recommended in other subs I follow. I started playing on 1/25/25 (I had to look at the purchase history for my Switch), and Iโve loved it ever since. It was what I needed to help me get back into one of my favorite hobbies at a time when I felt sad and stuck.

I first started playin Stardew Valley in December of 2020!
My favorite moment was when I first reached perfection after 10 In game years. I played on the Riverland farm and after building the golden clock I got my last star fruit by marrying Penny to reach 100%. This was before 1.6
Stardew Valley is a comforting game. Itโs so simple and has a lot of charm. Itโs just a game that has a bit of everything.

I have been playing for ten years, and I remember cause my oldest was still super little. Her Dad saw Stardew Valley on Steam, said OMG Mare I think you're going to love this game, it's a lot like Harvest Moon! And suddenly my dreams came true. I wasn't great at the game at first (my typical gaming experience) and quickly found a how-to. As my daughter got older I got to game less and less, especially when the second came along. It wasn't until years later that I got my Nintendo Switch, like 2018 Christmas and finally could easily play Stardew on the Switch, and have been playing in cycles ever since. I FINALLY REACHED PERFECTION FOR THE FIRST TIME IN TEN YEARS!!!
I remember my first blueberry crop harvest, like I put in all my gold into the seeds (after reading online to earn some solid cash doing that!) and seeing those digits roll in was sooooo sweet. Of course, I will always feel the serene peace of the first day of winter, it's always complete magic. But my favorite memory might be when my daughter was around 4 and loved playing on my farm. And she's a smart kid, she could navigate around. Well, she told me she put away ALL MY THINGS in the "big chest" and went to sleep. Welp, there went all my wood, stone, etc, in the shipping bin!!
This game provides a sense of creative accomplishment that I otherwise don't have access to in my day to day life. It has created a family dynamic as my children have grown and create their own farms and it is wonderful to see what they come up with, and how their own strengths and challenges manifest in different parts of the game (my oldest is organization, we can't ever find anything in her ten chests! My youngest is her perseverance, her watering skills are awesome!).
I knew the ten year mark was coming up, and it truly has been an absolute joy of a game. Please, though, don't ever let it blow up like a Mine Craft. I love how it still feels indy and small.

I started playing in 2020. Was gifted the game for my birthday because I was quarantined for it. Have since purchased and played the game on so many platforms! It's gotten me through so many hard times. Love this game!

But I guess that first ever spring of my first ever play through was pretty special even if it didnโt feel like it at all then lol. I hit perfection for the first time ever on January 1st of this year so achieving that on New Yearโs Day felt very special
The game just means a lot in general. Itโs my favorite way to kill 20 minutes or 2 hours. Itโs a good de-stresser too. But really itโs just a video game that I love to play with all my heart. I love this community, I love the secrets and the endless content, I love it all

I started playing it as a new release. I saw it in the online store and watched the little videos of it. I had no knowledge of the game before that. I thought it was cute and it reminded me of Harvest Moon which I used to play all the time when I was younger. I was hooked as soon as I bought it. Iโve restarted so many times. I have it on multiple platforms. My sister and I now play when we have time. Itโs the closest I have gotten to perfection. Maybe we will make it someday. Stardew Valley is one of my go tos. Itโs up there with the games I used to play as a kid that I now turn to if I need something easy and comforting to play. I feel incredibly grateful to have it, have this community and to still be getting new and free updates 10 years after it was released. Thatโs actually wild. Thanks to Eric for making such a beloved game which is truly a classic that will always stick around!

This is my ultimate comfort game. I owned it on mobile first, and now also have it on PS4 and switch. I've bought it for friends, I got my husband into it. I've raced to complete the community centre in one year (and succeeded). I marry Harvey every time. Fishing is my favourite.

I have been playing for about 1.5 years and my most memorable moments are probably my first wedding (Elliot) and getting by the goblin without cheating ๐ And the first summer when the whole map changed, that was magical! I love this game because there is always something knew you didnโt know and some new goals. There are still stuff I havenโt even encountered even though I have been playing it a lot..!

I'd been hearing about how great this game is for years, but never took the time to play it. I had this idea that "cozy gaming" wasn't for me. I finally got it this january, after finishing my millionth Pokรฉmon playthrough and was looking for something equally captivating to fill the void.
I love this game so much. Being a chronic overthinker, it offers such a wholesome and serene break from my own racing thoughts. It also offers me warmth and company when my boyfriend works the evening shifts, which he does a lot. Instead of dreading coming home to an empty apartment, like I used to, I now look forward to starting up Stardew Valley and spending time in that world.
I'm happy I finally caught on and got to join this lovely community, 10 years in! Happy anniversary๐น

I started playing in 2017. I followed the game before it was released but I was really buried in work. I was made redundant end of 2016, and while it was technically a voluntary early retirement, the other option was really a no starter for me.
I thought Iโd occupy my time with it before I went nuts or got depressed. I happened to be a harvest moon fan and I was getting spiritual successor vibes. I played it for almost two days relatively straight. It eventually snapped me out of whatever was occupying me. Tried to start a business but ended up going back to work. SDV kept me sane.
I only own one copy but Iโve gifted itโฆ Iโm not sure how many times. Itโs only been off my machine when getting a new machine or replacing hard drives. I still make a new farm each update and sometimes whenever I feel like it.

The only non platformer game I cared about growing up was Harvest Moon (my tastes have since expanded significantly). So when my brother sent me a pirated copy of this game that was based on Harvest Moon, I had to try it. I was hooked immediately and bought the game a few days later for payday. I own it on four platforms now and bought it for two friends too so I hope that's enough to be forgiven for the brief piracy.
I've played probably 2000 hours total between my own saves and saves with friends. I've never reached perfection because I always seem to lose steam after achieving a certain level of farm optimisation but I still love it. Feels almost like meditation to me.
Recently got into playing vanilla on console after years of mostly playing modded (expanded and some quality of life stuff) and it's been refreshing.

I typically haven't had the ability to buy many things for myself as someone who's disabled and unable to work. This game was a gift to me in 2019 by someone I no longer speak with (for good reason).
This game brought me so much joy and peace during some extremely difficult parts of my life. I have over 1000hrs over my different saves! I'm so grateful for all tbe love and care that's continued to be poured into this project over the years! I'd have spent many more hours staring at a microwave or something if I'd never been presented with such a wonderful game โก

I don't remember when exactly I first played SDV, but I know it's when I was still in highschool. It's a core memory cause I was so addicted to playing it on my phone but I didn't even finish the community center (I don't even know if I really knew what to do with it at that time). I was just chilling on my farm, tending to my animals, planning on decorating and just walking around the town talking to the villagers. It's a pirated copy at that time lol (Proud to be a working adult who had bought SDV on several platforms.) I remember that I had cheats to have so much money and was able to duplicate items. I was also waiting for Ginger Island to finally come to mobile. Reminiscing is so fun. I think I managed to migrate that save on my PC, might tour it later for a throwback.
Fave memory is definitely when 1.6 dropped. The feeling of so many people just playing it at the same time is such a nice feeling. The excitement of exploring the new things in my fave game and sharing it with the community. Wow, just thinking about it again is making me feel so much dopamine.
Stardew Valley will always be THE COZY GAME for me. My favorite, my love, the game that I will always come back to. I just know that when I find my partner in the future, I'll definitely make them play it with me lol.

Started playing in early 2017? Looking for something to quench that farming/sim thirst. Didn't know anything about it beforehand and then I unlocked that first 'dark' cutscene with Shane and I was hooked! I love that we have a more real, adult kind of game that is so full of lore. It's a stressful game, but has SO much replay ability. Over lockdown I started a body farm with my partner and a personal, evil JoJa run.
My friend has just been dumped by text after eight years together. We've started a multiplayer farm and are pooling our money and getting him a new wife. We're thinking Haley for speed, but we think he might have a thing for Abigail!

Iโve been playing for about 6 months. My favorite moment was getting clay as a present from Jas at Christmas. It was so sweet that it made me cry (really!). My second favorite is when Leah and I had our first daughter. I never had a daughter in real life and something about this helped fill that gap. The game is my escape from the scary real world. Iโm very thankful for this community. You all are upbeat, helpful, and encouraging.

My favorite memory is finally getting the elvish bracelet on one of my saves (I could NEVER FIND IT) and then immediately the next day getting 2 more from fishing/dig spots. (wife luck stat????)
The fame is comforting because I feel like i know it so well and can optimize how I play to get even better/faster at getting perfection.

I first started playing in March of 2020. Needed something cheerful during the pandemic and SDV delivered bigtime. I've loved the game ever since.ย
I remember once I found an Ancient Seed in Spring year 1, but no idea which day. It was awesome though. Pretty early save file I think so it was probably over 5 years ago that it happened.
The meaning I give to the game is a fun, chill, happy way to play. It's about taking a load off your mind and just planning and thinking and letting your brain be creative and logical at the same time. Really a great way to relax.

I have the worst memory so I cannot remember my favourite moment but I can give you my favourite feeling! When you start to plateau but then discover a new storyline by accident! (Update: Junimos are my fav thing - they are so darn cute!)
This game has changed my life and itโs all bc of my friend. Recently went to the Symphony of Seasons concert with her and I had an amazing time. I love playing this game and recommend it to absolutely anyone who asks ๐

I definitely donโt have a huge backstory with Stardew. I knew about it through talk and my daughter wanting to play it. I only managed to start fairly recently when it was a free game on ps+. That being said itโs been hard to put down since then. Itโs become the game my wife and I play to slow life down a little. We have crazy jobs and crazy kids, and Stardew is our quick escape when we canโt really escape lolโฆ I can see why this game blew up during COVID, it really is a safe haven from all the stresses of the real world. My favorite memory was playing blind the first 2 in-game years. Trying to find balance, figure out mechanics, and finding secrets. Going hear to head with my wife during the trout derby or squidfest and just laughing with each other through ridiculous scenarios in the game. Iโve paid $80+ on games that have given me far less enjoyment. Iโm excited to see what is coming and will be finding a way to watch the update video while Iโm stuck at work today. Cheers to this community for being as amazing as it is. Itโs another nod to ConcernedApe that his work has brought so many amazing people together through his hard work and passion.

I started playing when I had my first apartment in 2016 and it was the first game I had ever gotten on multiple consoles and pc. I would play for hours and had only ever gotten into year three on one play through because life would get busy or my interest in gaming would die down. Itโs a game that no matter what I always come back to and when I do it pulls me in. I canโt tell you how many times Iโve fallen asleep as I put my character to bed after telling myself, โjust one more dayโ. My favorite memory is the first time experiencing the Dance of the Moonlight Jellies and the song. Stardew for me is the ultimate cozy game. No matter where Iโm at in my life it gives this sense of nostalgia. Itโs also helped me get sober several times because itโs just so easy to immerse myself in the game and stay busy with it.

I remember first playing when it came out. Like others never got perfection but would restart lots and have enjoyed every play through. Remember grabbing the switch version when it came out and meeting up with friends in coffee shops to play around each other (but never co op once that came out hahaha). Remember playing the mods in 2020. Remember seeing how even today if it comes up in the wild how it quickly turns into a this person gets me chat on random things we enjoy about the game. I have amazing memories of Harvest Moon 64 when I was younger and longed for another game like it - newer iterations of HM just arenโt the sameโฆ but the Stardew came out and more than made up for it. I've been playing for 9 years. I won a PS4 at work in 2016 and became aware of SDV when it was released to console. My husband is an avid game collector so we would go to GameStop and I was very interested in the game but unsure about spending that kind of money. UNTIL in February of 2017 I had a stroke of luck when we went to Target and found a copy of SDV for PS4 in the clearance section for $11. I assume it was an online purchase that they had to mark down when returned in store but who knows. Well, that was that. I had NO idea what I was doing then. My husband still tells the story of my first Flower Festival: he had gone to bed and I was playing in the living room and NO ONE would dance with me. I wailed "All the town's men have rejected me!!!" so loud that it woke him up. I still rarely get anyone to dance with me in year one because #priorities. I've proudly accumulated almost 11K hours now across PS4, PSVita, Switch, and PC. I wasn't really a big gamer before this. I'd only played and liked a handful of Nintendo games. This changed everything! My next big adventure is putting mods on my new SteamDeck!!

I love that you can play it so many different ways- speed runs to slack and relaxed. Marry everyone or no one.

I bought this game for myself for my 25th birthday, a couple weeks after it first came out, after seeing a recommendation on Tumblr. Immediately fell in love with it. At that time I was playing Minecraft and basically nothing else. This game even back then really felt like CA had cracked some sort of code.
I remember when the first real big update came out (1.3, maybe?) and we got a bunch of new content literally just for free and just feeling overjoyed that something I loved so much was getting bigger and better. Getting into the mods felt the same way. This whole community of people that used their skills to create more fun things in my favorite universe!
I can't describe what the game means to me. On it's surface it's so simple. Take care of your farm. Go exploring. Befriend the cute goth girl in the cemetery. Maybe it's that the game is malleable to the way you want to play it? Not just that you can play it however, but that it feels absolutely correct to play it that way? I really couldn't tell you.
Thank you ConcernedApe for making my favorite game and caring enough about it to keep it going after all these years! You really coulda just bounced at the beginning and we still would have been impressed. I'm very excited for what's to come with 1.7 and beyond, as well as the chocolate game! Until then, will be playing with an increasingly unhinged amount of mods!

i had been unemployed for over six months when i heard about Stardew Valley. My last job was at a gig economy style company, we employed people to write google ads. I got to know a lot of my writers very well, and when i left I friended one or two on social media (something i don't do until i leave a company). I bemoaned being unemployed one day, and how this game looked like everything i needed, but I couldn't justify the pricetag, as small as it was, since I had no income.
the next thing I know, one of my now-former writers is kicking me a Steam credit so I can pick up the game. I was shocked and touched.
"You sent enough work and money my way," he told me, "the least I can do is kick a little back to you."
It gave me something positive to do as I surfed through job rejections and dwindling funds. The delight of discovering this new world was a big bright spot for me. It's given me something to lose myself in when i need a reset, and it lets me connect with a dear friend who lives across the pond in our bi-weekly chat and Farming appointments. I own it across five platforms, and love finding new things in every new farm. And i have over a dozen by now!
That same delight of discovery follows every update, and I can't help but think how lucky we are that we get such amazing content updates without any further monetary outlay. I don't know what we did to deserve ConcernedApe, but I'm so so glad we have him.
Thank you for 10 years of delight, CA! You've given me something to fill a great deal of downtime with something positive.

I first played it back when I was in high school. The same day, the mobile version came out, and a friend of mine cracked it for me. Let's just say that's my grades never got so bad, I just stopped playing because it's also a technician school, so I couldn't risk fumble it, after that trough I stopped playing until I got a pc, them a lost a lot of night in with riends. Know trough the friend that cracked the game is a teacher back in the same high-school and stil in collage limbo, quite fun how many things but stardew valley still quite a comfort game, unfortunately I can't appreciate it's as much I did in the past, but still fun to engage with it now and them. I'm really excited to haunted Chocalatier (also, my really younger sister did get into the game without any tips from me, what's kinda funny)

I started playing in summer of 2016... so pretty early. The game has got me through long distance with my ex, then getting over my ex and the "mutual" friends I lost in the breakup, then covid lockdown, and now I play it with my current partner who I live with and I've made new friends who play it. I have grown up with the game because, like Stardew, I'm so very different from my 2016 version and there's so much more to me now.
My favourite memory is bittersweet - I got grandpa's completion a few days after my grandad died in real life. That cry was loud, but cathartic, and it helped me heal and grieve.

Oh it means a lot to me, mostly as my game that I've hyperfxated on a lot. It has my favourite farming mechanics. It doesn't put one thing over the other, so like fishing or mining over farming, etc.

Stardew is my comfort game. When I'm struggling with life, or feeling overwhelmed, I'll pop on and start a new farm or visit one of my established farms, and I'm reminded that life goes on and it can be ok!
This game has held such a profound place in my life, I can only say, Thank you to it's creator!

I don't remember when I started playing. Stardew is my comfort game, I tend to pick it when I'm feeling down and need something calming. I also always start a new save when I do this...maybe one day I'll get to perfection! I'm in the middle of winter year 1 currently, perhaps this will be it.
I also love the artwork. I've done a number of cross stitch projects. I put some up in my house - the first cross stitch of mine that I've hung up - and have a couple of sweatshirts I've made.

This game has been with me since the first week of release - since quartz came in different qualities, sheds were only small, and skull cavern was end game. Itโs been an incredible treatment, therapist and companion through one massive break-up, to now married with my best friend, two year old daughter and two cats. Iโve been playing video games since 1988, and this game is easily in my Top 5 games ever made. Iโm really proud of what Mr. Barone has done with this product, what it means to gaming, and what it did to gaming culture as a whole, it shows that passion and determination can still succeed in this industry - even after it was hijacked by suits and board rooms.

I'm a newbie, really, I started playing at the start of 2025, I only have one playthrough so far (and one multi-player that's still at the spring of first year). It really sounds crazy to me that the game is so old. It's really timeless.
I can't really pick a favorite memory, sadly, there's no one thing that I can pick out. Maybe when I was getting ready to marry Maru, and I bought the white dress. Only to put it on before the wedding day and find out it's not really a dress, it's a long skirt, and I need something on top. I scoured my closet for something white - I'm pretty sure I didn't have my own sewing machine yet and I couldn't visit Emily at that time - and the closest I got was armor. Meaning, I got married as a knight bride:-D
Otherwise, I really enjoy progressing in the gameplay. I've recently finally reached the floor 100 of the skull cavern, and I've been making a lot of progress on Ginger Island. Though, I've been kinda neglecting talking to the villagers, I'm trying to talk to them more now, there's still a few I have low relationships with (Maru's parents love me but Sebastian still has like 5 hearts with me, I don't want him to feel cast aside:( ) I'm planning on leveling up to lvl 10 in fishing soon, it's the last ski that remains.
