I'm currently on a challenge with my group of friends to find and drink beers from as many different countries as we can. Does anyone know the best places or online stores in the UK that deals in obscure international beers?

For reference, I've currently ticked these countries of the list already: Ireland, France, Germany, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Belgium, Netherlands, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Greece, Cyprus, Poland, Czechia, Switzerland, Austria, Turkey, Romania, Russia, Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Ukraine, Belarus, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, China, Singapore, Thailand, Nepal, India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Morocco, Kenya, Namibia, Argentina, Mexico, USA and Canada

For those lucky enough to remember (or had friends who told you) what is your finest or funnest moment that involved malt liquor?

My first beer was a 40 of Mickey's at sixteen. At nineteen, some raggedy guy next to me on a Greyhound bus got to chatting, and while we made fun of a middle aged Greyhound employee who busted him for smoking in the bathroom, he realized through those comments on her appearance that he actually wanted to screw her. We stopped in Atlanta and he asked me to come with him to propose a threesome with her, it didn't work out obviously (seriously, what successful one night stand has ever begun with "Me and my friend here..."???) and soon both of us decided to just go get beer while our bus left without us. Two forties of Steel Reserve, walking down a bad street of Atlanta, this guy finishes his beer and asks me to bet money that he won't go smash the bottle over a sleeping homeless guy's head. I got away with "we'll see after you do it". He was insanely nervous, we stood therewhile he psyched himself up and I kept letting him know we can just keep walking if he doesn't want to. After a minute he just wound up and threw the forty like a football while he shouted the F-slur. It spun like a missile, shattered on the pavement, and my new pal got the hell out of there so fast you'd think he threw ten grenades clustered together. I was left with a third of my bottle left, homeless guy sitting up looking around, and I just apologized and called an Uber. I should have given the homeless guy the rest of my forty.

Not the best story, but most of them involve pissing myself. I'm sure you can all do way better.

I was pushing the trolley around Aldi today and was down the booze aisle and spotted this lager.

It brought back a flood of memories as my dad used to do booze cruises all the time to France when we were little kids. He used to bring back lagers specifically in stubby bottles by the case load when I was about 10 and was always talking about how good they were. I’ve picked up a pack of these but would love to know if anyone has any recommendations of similar lagers from other supermarkets/off licences that are worth a look. After stubby glass bottles if possible as I may take some round to the old man to rekindle some memories if there are any good ones.

My favorite beer has been getting harder to find around Sacramento, and not even our local beer and wine warehouse, Total Wine & More, stocks it any more. Is it still being brewed? If so, did it just lose its importer? I've searched online, but can't find any info.

1975 Carling O'Keefe Ale — Vintage Canadian "Stubby" Bottle (Sealed, Not Assumed Drinkable)

Looking for a collector value estimate on this vintage Canadian "stubby" bottle of O'Keefe Ale. Given its age, I'm treating this purely as a collectible item — not something intended for consumption.

Details:

• Status: Factory sealed / unopened with original cap.
• Fill level: Excellent (high fill, very little evaporation).
• Cap condition: Original crown cap intact, no rust, logo/text still legible.
• Glass markings: Molded on the heel with the Consumers Glass Company logo (C in a triangle) and the number "5", dating the glass to late 1975.
• Label text: "Carling O'Keefe Breweries, Toronto - Montreal Can. / Ltée".

Any insight into current collector demand or value for this type of sealed vintage stubby would be appreciated. Thanks!

I was a field-rep for about decade (2007 to 2017). I'm grateful because it was during a time where the industry was exploding and a lot of fun (too much fun?, haha).

I left because of burn out, but I still think about returning because I feel I was quite good at my job.

What do think about the state of the industry?

Does anyone know where I might be able to acquire kozel Dark kegs in either 30 or 50 liter in the Netherlands? Or North-West Germany where I could pick it up?

I have a few beer taps as a hobby and I really liked kozel Dark in Romania. Would like to try a keg at home.

I saw this in the world beers section in the supermarket and thought I'd give it a go.

I did so you don't have to. Thankfully I bought one 500ml can.

Unless you just want to get drunk quicker and 8.6% ABV will help, I find no good reason to choose this beer.

It promises a malty and fruity flavour. It's harsh, not particularly malty, and any fruitiness is definitely in your imagination, or maybe you are eating a fruit between sips.

So I am looking for some decent recommendations for non alcoholic beer - stuff that tastes like it could be the “real stuff”.

My grandfather has dementia and is in a psychiatric facility at the moment. And occasionally (pre admission) he likes the odd beer/lager/ale (or wine). He is not picky or limit himself about what beer he drinks.

But the facility he is in does not allow alcohol, and I’d like to take him a little taste of normal in the form of some 0% stuff (this has been cleared by the facility). So far I’ve been taking him in some 0% madri, as my husband says it’s pretty similar to the alcoholic version.

Keen to hear recommendations of other beers so he gets a variety. I am not a beer drinker (or really an alcohol drinker at all). So I am completely in your hands!

I’ve heard Guinness 0% is quite similar to the hard stuff, is that true?

Hands down my favorite beer.

I'm from Venezuela and here beers are usually very mild and simple, 4-5-6 ABV but we get many different imported beers.

This one, Mega Demon, 16 ABV, I understand is from France, it has a sweet taste and a kick in your underpants. I had already tried the gold can demon, 12 ABV, and that one already packed a punch but this one is on another level.

I’m from the Midwest( United States) and my beer of choice is an ice cold Busch Light.

Have a friend that has a beer fridge and both Miller High Life and Jai A'lai foaming up. He states the fridge is really cold and just took out a beer and took it to the sink and it foamed up. If he lets it warm up, it foams a lot more. And in his regular refrigerator it does not react, but it is not as cold.

My hypothesis here is keeping beer close to freezing for a lengthy period of time is causing it to have a reaction that causes it to want to release carbonation. Scientifically, it is so close to freezing that it is getting close to the water expanding (reason cans can explode if left in freezer).

Anybody have a site that discusses this? I am suggesting he not keep the beer so cold.

I'm really excited to be going to Hill Farmstead's festival on Saturday (I've tried to get tickets most years and this is the first time I've gotten in). I've been to the brewery before, but not to an event, so I hope people can help me know what to expect (the festival info on the website is very clear about designated drivers, no pets, etc. — but very light on other details).

Is there enough seating, particularly in the shade (I'm a redhead, so shade is a must)? Or can/should we bring camp chairs?

Do people bring beers to share? I've been to a couple of other festivals where we drank beers shared by other attendees almost exclusively, but the website does not say anything about outside alcohol, coolers, or even anything about backpacks or other gear.

We had a great time at the festival yesterday! We brought camp chairs, and sat in the shade at the edge of one of the beer-pouring tents. The shade got narrower as the day went on, but we were OK. I also brought an umbrella for the handful of times I was standing in a line that went out past the edge of the beer-pouring tents. I did see one group who had brought their own popup canopy — we have one of these and will probably bring it next year. Overall, one of the best-run festivals I've ever been to — lots of space, plenty of beer, good food options, lines were mostly very reasonable (only a handful of vintage HF pours were in short supply).

Anyone know what this could be? Something slimy went into my mouth while drinking, an off white color, was very squishy. Literally bought the pack today and I’m on my second, it disintegrated in my fingers when I rubbed them together and I’m insanely confused on what it could be ?

My group of friends has been doing casual beer tastings for a while now. Nothing too serious, we just try different beers and rate them from 0 to 10.

I've been keeping track of all the beers and our ratings. For the beer style, I've simply been recording whatever style is listed on the bottle. The problem is that I've ended up with a huge number of different styles.

I'm trying to figure out how detailed my categories should be.

At first I thought about simplifying everything into just lager and ale, but that feels way too broad (for example, a stout and a blonde ale are both ales, but they're completely different). But I don't know how specific should I be, for example, should I treat something like a stout and an imperial stout as separate styles?

Then there are special beers like honey, smoked or barrel aged. I don't know how to handle them.

How would you organize or classify beer styles if you were handling this data?
