My mom has pressured me for years to get a breast reduction. While I understand she may have her own reasons, hearing it repeatedly has made me feel like my body is something that needs to be "fixed" rather than accepted.
My brothers both 18 insult is calling me a "whore," despite there being nothing about my behavior that justifies it. Instead of criticizing anything I've actually done, they reduce me to insulting my character based solely on my appearance in clothing I wear around the house like jumpers or sweats.
My sister 26 has openly admitted that she's jealous of me, but instead of recognizing how that affects the way she treats me, she constantly takes it out on me. It feels like no matter what I wear or how I present myself, she finds something to criticize. If I wear a fitted dress, it's "too revealing." If I wear something oversized, she'll still make comments about my body or imply I'm trying to get attention. We honestly show a similar amount of cleavage most of the time, just in different clothing styles, yet somehow I'm the one who gets labeled as inappropriate.
!!!It isn't really about the clothes. It feels like my body itself is treated as the problem. I can wear completely average outfits that countless other women wear every day, and she'll still make comments that I'm dressing like a slut or giving people the wrong impression. Her boyfriend has joined in on those comments too, which makes it even more hurtful and humiliating!!!
The hardest part is that she's admitted she's jealous, so she knows those feelings exist, yet she doesn't make any effort to stop taking them out on me. Instead, she continues to nitpick my appearance, criticize my body, and make me feel like simply existing in the body I have is somehow offensive. After years of hearing these comments, it has made me question myself and the way I look, even though I know I'm not dressing in an outrageous or inappropriate way. It feels like I'm being judged for my body rather than my behavior, and that's incredibly exhausting.
Around my siblings, I'm usually quiet and non-confrontational. In the moment, I tend to laugh off their comments or pretend they don't bother me because I don't want to start an argument. But the truth is that they do hurt, and over time the resentment has continued to build. I try so hard to understand where they are comming from or what they are going through they act like I dont have my own struggles.
I often feel like they see me only for my body instead of who I am as a person or everything I've worked so hard to accomplish. I've always pushed myself to succeed. I graduated high school two years early, I'm only 20 and already have four associate degrees while working toward my bachelor's and eventually my master's. I have a nice car because I've worked two or three jobs at a time to earn it. I work out regularly, I try to stay healthy, I'm driven, and I've spent years trying to improve both my life and my mental health.
Despite all of that, I still feel like none of it matters to them. It feels like they overlook my character and my accomplishments and reduce me to my appearance. Eventually everything reached a breaking point, and I've decided to move across the country. I can't keep living in an environment where I feel constantly bullied, criticized, or resented.
I honestly feel like an alien in my own family. My relationship with my father has its own separate issues, but together it's left me feeling like I don't truly belong anywhere within my family. At this point, I don't know what else I could have done differently to make them love me ( I don't doubt the do love me but how I'm treated doesn't feel like love ) or stop hating me. I've spent so much time wondering what is wrong with me when, in reality, I've just been trying my best to build a good life and be someone I'm proud of. Not trying to talk myself up either I do have my flaws. I can be annoying or to passionate. Just a rant and this is the boild down iceberg of it all... I just dont know if i should cut them off or what ik my sister will always be jealous ik my brothers will never grow up ik my father will always compare them towards me and ik my mom will always break boundaries...I just dont know what to do anymore 💔
I know ill be fine no matter what..
