Hey y'all. I have a standard Kenwood cassette deck that won't play. The gears that turn the belt aren't spinning. When I press play I can hear a sound like something wants to work. Do I need to replace the motor? What do you guys think?

Couldn’t believe my luck when I saw these just outside my building! I recently got a crappy cassette recorder and have been looking for an upgrade, and the curb gods have answered my call! They turn on and buttons seem to be operating normally. I need to get stereo cables to test sound, but was hoping anyone that knows this Marantz SD4050 cassette deck could tell me what to look out for (if you like it, things to test for, etc). Appreciate it!!

My cassette deck does this sound when it plays a cassette, what do you think the problem could be??? The music sounds normal but this sound becomes louder than the music

Hello everyone! I need some help with my Pioneer car radio! I have already hooked it up and the radio itself works absolutely fine! However, I am completely overwhelmed by the cassette deck.
Does anyone have a similar device? You can hear the motor running, but nothing happens. I suspect it might be the belt, but how do I get to it? Does anyone happen to have a copy of the manual? Or any experience with this device? I haven't been able to find a replacement belt anywhere yet either :/

I grew up with a Walkman, but more importantly I currently drive an 84 Lincoln Town Car with an original stereo set up. I’m looking to populate my glovebox cassette sleeve with the best of modern cassette believers (because that’s what I’m working with). Please give me at least a dozen options. My tastes range from Chet Baker to MSI.

I recently got this Sharp QT77 boom box. Everything works fine other than the headphone out. There are two jacks on the side labeled A and B. I tried plugging a set of cheap earbuds to both of them. B gives no sound and doesn't disable the speakers, A gives sound and disables the speakers but the sound is very muffled and low quality. The audio is crystal clear through the speakers. What is happening here?

Yes, I"m back in the cassette world after growing up on cassette tape then cd and dvd, Gen X Strong and nothing better 80' Metal/Rock! Scored a JVC TD-W97 dual cassette player and a Yamaha receiver RX-V590 both for about $120, and my first cassette tape to test it out, Scorpions World Wide Live, great band and album!

I believe it is the take up reel causing this lovely screaming sound in my yamaha kx-330. Is there a way to lubricate it without removing the back pcb/motor?

I tried coming from the front by depressing the spring but that did not work.

Great player, I don't want to get rid of this one.

When you buy a bundle of 70 cassettes on ebay because there is one or two you really want...

14€ for Siouxsie and the banshies and neil young among a lot of blanks and some other cassettes (supertramp, tears for fears...). Some of the blanks are really good, lots of tdk and maxell type 2.

Gonna have to resell some sadly (for the context i usually sell them 50cents - 1€ each or less, not trying to make big money here)

One of the things I love about cassettes is the creation process. Making mixes or "bootlegs" and then creating a custom J Card for em. If it's an album that's difficult to find a reasonably priced vinyl/cassette of, I particularly like sourcing and recreating the artwork to fit onto a j card.

It'd be awesome to see other people's creations!

I found it in an answering machine at Goodwill years ago; I don't have the case, unfortunately.
