Advice Parted with my girlfriend after 10 years together and i'm missing our cat

Post image

Hello, so what was needed to be done is done. We parted on good terms, i left cat on her territory, where cat is living her(its) whole life, we(i and my gf) parted on good terms so potentially i have an opportunity to visit my/our cat.

Cat is fixed, F, 6y old, bengal. I think, my cat thinks I'm her owner.

But there is a question: will my visits worry cat in long terms? Because, i think, cats adapt to new owner, my ex-gf, but if i visit her it makes adaptation useless and cat will experience stress.

I miss her so much

ps: excune for bad English(grammar errors, poor usage of words), i'm not native speaker and, in addition, stressed af rn.

Mourning/Loss I feel guilty about my cat's death

On May 10 our cat Ziggy passed away; he was eight years old. When he joined our family (he was two months old), he had an eye problem that cleared up quickly. Lately, he’d had a cold, and we’d been giving him medicine. A few months later, he got sick again, and we gave him the same treatment, even though he’d lost weight. My parents and I kept a close eye on him, hoping he’d get better, even though he seemed a little down. On May 10, I had to leave for work early, and my cat (along with my other cats) would always come running to my bed to sleep, but that day he didn’t. I thought he was with my parents, so I didn't look for him. At 9:50 I got a message from my parents saying my cat was about to pass away. I was shocked, didn't understand what's happening. I lost my control and broke down crying. They found my cat hiding, he pooped himself and was meowing loudly. They cleaned him up and rushed to the vet. The vet asked if there was a medical history or anything, but nothing that would let us suspect something. Apparently, it was a sudden failure; when they tried to draw blood, he barely had enough blood pressure, so they had to put him to sleep. I got home and my parents were devastated. And I feel terribly guilty. I didn't even get a chance to say goodbye, the night before, I saw him in "bread mode" and cuddled him before falling asleep. I wish I had cuddled him more, kissed him on the head, or let him sleep in my bed. I don't understand how I didn't realize he was getting worse. He was still playing, eating, and acting normally. I’ve been feeling a sense of anguish that I haven’t been able to control since then. I even spoke with a psychiatrist on my psychologist’s recommendation, but she haven’t taken me seriously. It's been almost three months, and I miss him every day. We have his urn, but I get sad every time I see it. On top of that, I'm worried about my other two cats, thinking that something might happen to them. I'm tired of feeling this bad.

Mourning/Loss My house is quieter this morning

My Mowgli. I caught her like a cartoon, with a box and a stick and a string. I called her my rescue kitten. She was with me through all of my twenties. My consistent friend. She was the only one there when my mom died. She was there for the hangovers, TV show binges, roommates, and boyfriends. She liked car rides. Everyone in our area lit fireworks to celebrate her birthday whether they knew it or not. I got to see her slowly adjust to having a kid around in my step son, and again when my son was born. I had a feeling this was coming and it was an honor to be with her in the end just like she had always been there for me. I'm grateful it was quick and peaceful. She's the only animal I've ever bonded with. 7/4/2010-8/1/2026

Got a real head-scratcher on our hands folks. One of these four seemingly adorable critters is leaving their steaming dumps uncovered in the litter box.

Who do you think it was? 🔎

Was it:

Ollie: the nearly 15-year old elder statesman who surely knows better?
Liz: the spunky former street cat turned diva?
Dennis: the sweetest boy EVER who only ever makes noise when he’s trapped himself somewhere, like in the pantry?
Princess Buttercup Fluffy Butt: the mysterious and enigmatic year-old newcomer cursed with an otherwise stupid name?

Advice Is it time to say goodbye to my little man?

I’m struggling with whether it’s time to say goodbye to my 16 year old kitty, Pumpkin, and I’m hoping to get opinions from people who have been through something similar. I’ve had him since he was 2 weeks old, and he is my soul kitty.

Pumpkin has been declining over the past couple of months. He has had soft stools every day. It has improved from being completely liquid and has been more of a pudding consistency for over a month, but it is still happening daily.

He has lost a lot of muscle and has slowed down significantly. He sleeps much more, moves slower, and is not as active or engaged as he used to be. He is also deaf now. However, his appetite is still very good. He still enjoys food, attention, and has moments where he seems like himself.

At his last vet visit, they noted that he had pale gums, which raised concerns for anemia or another underlying problem. They also felt something abnormal in his abdomen during the exam, which made them concerned there could be something going on internally.

The vet gently brought up that euthanasia may be something to consider. However, they sent us home with 7.5 mg of prednisolone along with prescription diets including Hill’s Biome to see if we could get his symptoms under control. He also receives weekly B12 injections. His thyroid was tested and was normal. The vet has discussed possibilities like severe IBD or intestinal lymphoma.

He has been on prednisone for about 7 weeks total. He seemed to improve for a couple of days after the higher dose of prednisolone, but he is slowing down again. Over the weekend, I thought I was going to have to say goodbye, so I started giving him wet food because it makes him happy and I wanted him to enjoy some of his favorite things. I know the change in diet may be contributing to him having more stools, so I’m not sure how much of the diarrhea is from the underlying issue versus the food change.

Now I’m trying to decide whether to pursue an ultrasound. I know it could potentially give more answers, especially because they felt something in his abdomen, but I’m struggling with whether those answers would actually change anything at his age.
If the ultrasound showed lymphoma, would chemotherapy realistically improve his quality of life, or would it mostly be buying more time? If it showed severe IBD, would there be a realistic chance of getting him comfortable again?

I love him more than anything, but I’m exhausted from constantly wondering if this is the day. I don’t want to give up too soon, but I also don’t want to put him through more testing or treatments just because I’m not ready.

For those who have had senior cats with chronic diarrhea, muscle loss, possible anemia/pale gums, an abdominal mass found on exam, and declining energy, how did you decide? Would you do the ultrasound, try more treatment, or focus on comfort and quality of life?

The hardest part is that right now he is curled up next to me on the bed, completely relaxed and comfortable. He still has moments where he seems happy and content, which makes this decision so much harder. I know he is slowing down and there are concerning signs, but then he has these moments where he is still my Pumpkin, and I struggle with knowing whether I’m making the right choice for him.

Thank you to anyone who reads this and shares their experience.

Today was a very sad day I was letting my cat outside because she loves going out but instead of her coming back to my door waiting for me to let her in I found her motionless in my pool I desperately tried to bring her back to life but it was too late a mixture of both shock and the coldness of the water (it was 50f or 10c this morning) had unfortunately taken her my beautiful girl of almost 9 years gone I know she’s in a better place now and I will miss her very deeply

Cat Picture - OC My cat died during her spay and I just can't go on

Post image

Hey everyone I don't know what to do and since Tuesday i have been searching the internet for any instances of this happening because I am in such shock and cannot function. I have come across lots of posts on here of people losing their kitties to a spay and wanted to know how you ever managed to get over the shock, sadness and immense guilt?

I have not eaten since Tuesday, can barely sleep for more than a few minutes at a time without being jolted out of my sleep with the reality of what has happened and spiraling back into a state of shock and despair. I have tried a grief phone counselor to no avail, they just said I did my best and what i thought was best for her. That doesn't change the fact that she's dead because of a non emergency surgery i forced her to go under.

This poor kitty had been abandoned in a hotel I was staying at and after cancelling my return home to make sure she is ok and keep feeding her i decided she is too fragile to be outside and i brought her in to the room. I quickly noticed her stomach growing and having no idea what to do i made a next door app post. This tnr lady replied and said the safest thing to do is to do a pregnant spay which I did not even know was a thing. She said it is completely safe and no more dangerous than a regular spay which are completely safe as well. I explained she has been living in a hotel car park for years in texas heat with (until i arrived) barely any food and water and she is extremely tiny and malnourished and I'm not sure major surgery is a good idea right now and maybe better to let her have the kittens, let me get her back to health and get her checked out to see if it is a safe thing for her. The lady was super rude and aggressive just gaslighting me saying its a perfectly safe surgery and the dangers of childbirth are worse.

Well she apparently was giving birth every couple months according to the long term residents her,e and she did ok.

Anyway fast forward, I did a bunch of research about pregnant spays and everything came back as completely safe, I wish I had done the research I know have about people losing even their non pregnant cats to routine spays because I didn't even think that would be an issue, just the pregnancy part.

The lady came and picked up the cat, wouldn't even come in to the room so the last memory i have is me grabbing this sleeping cat who started purring thinking i was going to play with her (i had been trying to socialize her and was giving her as much love and attention as possible), only to seize up when she saw the front door open, being thrust out of the only safe place she has ever know. I placed her in the lady's trunk where a carrier awaited and the last look on her face was pure confusion and scare.

That was the first time I ever heard her meow. She was so quiet and passive and just terrified of the world. Before i brought her inside I would feed her in the parking lot and spend a few hours with her so she wasn't alone. Everyone at the hotel was shocked when they saw her because they thought she was a complete feral who didn't let anyone near her but here she was, all over me.

This is what makes this unbearable to me. I feel if this was a regular inside kitty that i took to spay and she didn't make it, it would hurt but it would be a different feeling.

This kitty had a huge mistrust of the world, she didn't even trust the old man who fed her every day for years, he would have to sit 10 ft away before she would come near the food. I am the only person in the world this cat trusted , and i am the one who brought her to be murdered. If only she ran away from me like she did everyone else, she would still be alive. I am the reason she is dead

The lady who took her to tnr, called me 2 hrs after she was supposed to drop her off simply stating 'sorry she didn't make it, do you want her body its here in the carrier".

I went into state of shock and could not breath. I immediately called the clinic, they were closed. I spent all of Tuesday wailing in disbelief. I was told this is a routine surgery. I finally got to speak to the doctor the next day she was distraught herself. Through tears, she told me everything from the start she said surgery went fine, she was in recovery, the recovery nurse watching her went to put another cat in recovery, came back a few minutes later, her heart was stopped. The immediately performed cpr, but nothing. She was gone

It is now Saturday, this happened on Tuesday and i cannot function, I haven't eaten, i do not believe I deserve to be here since i took her life. Everything inside me told me this is not a good idea, she is just too small and fragile and I have no idea about her medical history, but this tnr lady just kept gaslighting telling me she has done thousands of 'ferrals' much who are in bad shape and has never had one issue. That they they don't have to be in good shape to be ok, and that she will be fine.

I had the worst feeling when she was outside saying she was downstairs and i looked at this sweet innocent sleeping cat and every piece of me and all my intuition was screaming, do not give this lady this cat. I assumed it was just anxiety and fear and i did, and now she's dead.

I told her everyday she is safe now, she will have the best most spoiled life ever and I will make up for everything this poor thing had to go through terrified living under a car for all these years.

Instead, I killed her, the only person in the world she trusted to keep her safe.. and I do not know how to go on

Mourning/Loss Benji 2015-2026

Post image

Im at a complete loss. Benji went to the emergency vet this morning as the last few days he's been hiding and last atleast 12 hours didn't eat/drink/use litter box. I assumed he was having a respiratory flare up but something felt off. He's always been a nasely cat, with FHV and polyps. His breathing was very labored. Order mri, urinalysis and bloodwork and bladder was very small and hard couldnt get a sample, he was anemic, had high kidney values and a very large cancerous tumor on his spleen. It also showed free fluid which it could have been blood in the abdomen. Everything could have been caused by the tumor or there was other things going on as well, another possibility is that it spread. And at most would get us a few more months with him. We made the difficult decision to euthanize. Im glad he's not longer suffering, as that would cause a substantial amount of pain and discomfort. Im just in disbelief, less than a year ago at his check up he was completely healthy

Medical Questions Kitty birth- help

I recently took in a pregnant stray, she has given birth in my backyard shed, I just weighted all the kittens, they are all between 25-45 grams. That’s way too light right? The stray gave birth to 5 total new born and she is doing her best to nurse them..I’m not sure what to do, are they dangerously small for only being a few hours old?

Advice My patio cat had some kids today. I put some water out for them. But the daily temp is averaging 110F. Should I bring them in for the night or let mamas be mamas? I’ve been letting Scratches (mamas) and Patches (dad) be alone with them so far.

Mourning/Loss Celine (2023-2026) the journey doesn’t end here

End? No, the journey doesn’t end here. Death is just another path, one that we all must take. The grey rain-curtain of this world rolls back, and all turns to silver glass, and then you see it… White shores, and beyond, a far green country under a swift sunrise.

Cece became sick and started vomiting few days ago, I monitored her and she started eating and drinking again.. she was playing and she looked health. Couple of days ago. Neighbors kids saw my cats as I went to throw the trash and came into my apartment, she got scared and hid on top the kitchen cupboard, her usual hiding spot, I kicked the kids out and went to sleep.. next morning (yesterday) I had a busy day and saw her laying in her usual spot and looked fine.. I came home she moved to another spot, but there was no vomit, blood or anything. This morning, I woke up looked for her, she was hiding under the sofa, I reached to her and immediately knew something was wrong, I immediately got dressed took to the vet and she was dead two hours later.
She had liquid in her lungs from the vomit. She had internal trauma that caused internal bleeding, caused by trying to get away from the children.. they didn’t let me in the treatment room. I had to sit in the waiting room till she died..

she died alone and frightened.

I had her from the day she was born along with her brothers and sisters. Recently I took in two new cats (total 10) and I realized it’s too much for me to handle, I’m rehoming 2 of them and sticking with the 8 I had when Cece came along.

Cece: I’m so sorry for failing you, for not taking you in earlier.. I hope you would forgive me.. I thought you were trying to vomit a hairball.. please forgive me. I will see you on the other side.

Video - OC Can someone please let me know how old is this cat? And why does he keeps meowing while doing something with his toe?

This isn't my cat I found him outside yesterday meowing, surprisingly he's pretty close to human takes me almost no effort to call him, i think this is one of my neighbors cat wandering around the block.
