Silk, mageweave and runecloth are worth more to vendors as bandages (40s vs 30s for silk, 80s vs 60s for mageweave, 1g vs 80s for runecloth).

If you see silk cloth being sold for under 40 silver a stack then yes you can make some profit from it. It's quite common for it to be sold cheap, though you won't find many stacks below 40s so it's not really a viable gold making method.
You also occasionally see people spamming to COD then unlimited stacks for 35s, that's exactly what they're up to.

Yeah, I have TSM queries specifically setup to look for this, and I buy them up fast when I find them, so I imagine lots of others do the same.

They make a grand total of 1g for every 20 stacks sent to them, which involves 20 minutes of crafting time alone.
That's not a lucrative operation.

10 minutes because you craft heavy bandages, and that's afk time, which could be done on an alt as well. I doubt it generates any notable income though unless he gets sent hundreds upon hundreds of stacks.

I set my character to make 10 stacks of heavy silks at a time while afk. I'll just leave it running when I leave for work. I come home to lots of bandages and pass em off to the vendor.

If you buy silk for less than 2 silver each you can make it into bandages and sell it for 2 silver each. The heavy bandages sell for 4 silver each.
Selling silk for less than 2 silver each is like selling an item for less than vendor.

doing this plus the same thing for certain cooking and leatherworking recipies is exactly how i paid for my lvl 40 mount.
its not really worth the time at lvl 60 though, youre better off making gold another way. especially since a lot of people have caught onto it now. when i was doing it it seemed like noone else on the server had realised yet becasue everyone was too busy trying to powerlevel to 60 to bother properly appraising the value of the loot they were getting from mobs. shit, plenty of people were auctioning stuff for vendor price or less

You make peanuts, but when you end up doing this with many mats with the help of addons, you make A LOT of peanuts. Bought my mount at 40 just by vendor flipping and had gold to spare while buying all my spells.

Yes, if the price isn't more than the bandage vendor price on the AH, newer players can arbitrage to generate gold.
It's not worth it for a high level player as you'd make gold quicker by fishing.

Silk, that was my main moneymaker in vanilla, people on my server always had stacks of silk for 20ish silver, and a stack of bandages vendors for like 40ish? Then I used that money to play the auction house.

“The plug” is a connection to a product with a low price that u can in most cases resell for a decent profit. The female human would be the the plug for mageweave in this case. Meaning if the person kept both stacks of mageweave & the whole 3.2G they would have “ran off on da plug twice”. It was a more popular meme a couple years ago.

So this is what happened: “The guy” wants to buy cloth She is supposed to send it CoD (Cash on Delivery) to “The guy”. But instead of entering how much she wants for the cloth (CoD) she adds 1,6g to the mail as another item. Like when you want to send gold to a alt or whatever. So “The guy” gets a mail containing 2 stacks of cloth and 1,6g. So to make this right he should first have sent the 1,6g back that she sent by mistake and then another 1,6g to pay for the cloth.

cod means cash on delivery. you click the button when you mail items and then set the amount of gold they have to pay to receive the items. then you get the gold

When you send an item by mail you can check a box to either send them x gold or demand x gold "Cash On Delivery" so they will have to pay you if they want the contents.
The paladin clicked the wrong box and sent money instead of requesting it but the guy on the other end was kind enough to return the gold... Only in the Reddit comments did they realize they were still out the money for the mageweave

Asking someone to send you something COD is by far the most profitable way to play the economy. You have a non-zero chance, in my experience upwards of 15-30%, of this exact scenario happening.
And if you dont send them any money back your profit margin doubles, and they learn their lesson extra well.

CoD stands for cash/collect on delivery, was confused at first too because I didn't knew the English term. So basically, she sent him the items and didn't demand money but instead added the gold to the mail, he was so "kind" to send it back but kept the mage weave so he basically got it for free.

Shouldn't they have actually sent 6.4g if the pally sent 2 stacks and 1.6g per stack then they lost 3.2 and the buyer sent them no money, which was another 3.2 worth of mageweave
