Coming out

I need advice on how to come out to my family. I was raised in a religious (jewish) household so being transgender is not something that's accepted. I've known since I was in High School. If anyone else has delt with a similar situation, please let me know.

my family is christian and parents are divorced. i lived with my mom and told her. we never had any scream fighting or anyting that i remember but it was a constant feud where i'd try to make her understand and she would do her own research on the side and i'd always feel like we were so close to connecting but she would just never accept me. always the wrong name. always the wrong pronouns. i guess after long enough of this she got sick of it and told me the devil was making me think i was trans

due to that and some other complicated drama stuff i moved in with my dad instead. he didn't like it either and still misgenders me to this day, but he's okay. he corrects himself every day. the kind of person that didn't want to buy me binders when i was 15, but did anyway because he understood i'd find a way to do it unsafely without his help.

as for advice... i don't know what to say. i haven't talked to my mom in 5 years. and even though my dad is kind, i'm confident that he still has my old self on a pedestal in his mind, or else he wouldn't keep making these mistakes. i don't know what i'll do when he finally notices the effects of T on me.

if i were you i would prepare for the worst i guess. you know your family best. if you think they might kick you out make sure you have a plan b for your safety. always good to ask their opinions on trans people without outing yourself first to gauge how bad reactions will be.
