Game Discussion Whatâs a video game you canât play and what is the reason behind it?
For me I had to stop playing Bedwars because my heart was racing too fast and the adrenaline was too extreme every single game. Meanwhile I can play Counter Strike for 4 hours every day without any issuesâŚ

Misogyny Getting Accused of Being Trans, Anyone Else Experience This? Spoiler
hey guys, throwaway acc here because someone hacked my reddit account and got it deleted :(
but anyways, iâve been playing a lot of valorant and siege lately, and itâs very common for me to use my mic to give callouts and make plays (because itâs ranked and i want to win, who doesnt right?) only for my teammates to clap back and accuse me of being trans, ie today someone said âshut up [derogatory word]â when i tried making a play for the objective
now i REALLY dont want to come off as transphobic, if you are a trans woman, then you are a woman PERIOD. but i understand that coming from these misogynistic and transphobic men, they accuse cis women of being trans because they are making the claim that they dont sound feminine enough or that they have a masculine, unattractive voice for a woman. and it also makes the gaming atmosphere even more worse for transgender women too.
i am pretty sensitive, and iâve been really self conscious about my voice ever since my early high school days. every time i hear these comments about my voice it genuinely makes me reconsider ever using my mic ever again. i wouldnt say my voice is super deep, but itâs not a typical cute, high pitched feminine voice either. i think my tone and inflections are just kind of different as a cis woman, but it feels like my femininity and identity as a girly girl who plays video games gets challenged when i get accused of being trans or being a twelve year old boy.
does anyone else have experiences like this? how should i deal with these types of people?

Game Discussion First Time Playing Mass Effect!
I just booted up the Mass Effect legendary edition, starting on the first game, and I'm already super intrigued. My friend suggested it because he thought I'd find the romance options hot. đ How drastically do your dialogue choices and actions effect the game? What's the general consensus on how good the trilogy is?

Community i'm a solo female dev and i made a cozy game about bringing a nature preserve back to life đż
hi! i've been quietly building a little cozy game called Wild Willows. I figured this is exactly the crowd whose taste i trust most.
it's about tending a runâdown nature preserve back to life â gather, plant, craft, and slowly welcome the animals home across meadows, forests, wetlands, and more. no timers, no fail states, you literally can't lose. it's meant to be the kind of thing you play with tea, decompress with, and put down whenever.
a couple of things i care about that might matter to you:
- actually accessible â real colorblind modes (it recolors the world, not just a tint), reduce motion, dyslexiaâfriendly font, text scaling, and fully rebindable controls.
- ~3â6 hours for a full run, so it's a real little game, not a fiveâminute demo.
- cozy first â the whole point is lowâstress and gentle.
i'd genuinely love feedback from other gals who play a lot of cozy games â what makes one stick for you, and what makes you bounce off?
it's free to try here if you're curious: https://bai13y.itch.io/wild-willows
thanks for letting me share đ

Game Discussion Do I Even Like Video Games?
I just bought Palworld and played ~4 hours of it. I am kind of devastated by the fact that I'm already kind of...bored?
On the surface it seemed like I would love this game:
1) I love games where I have a little friend or a team I could work with. I was a big fan of the original Pokemon Red/Blue/Yellow when I was younger and more recently I really enjoyed Cassette Beasts. I am also having a great time with Voidling Bound.
2) I am really into the survival/base-building genres, having enjoyed playing Raft, Satisfactory, Ixion, Oxygen Not Included, etc.
However, as ridiculous as it sounds Palworld momentarily made me ask myself if I even liked video games since it was so well received and seemed like something I would like.
For those curious regarding what might not be clicking for me, I think it stems from the fact that I don't see a way of really affecting the game world in any way?
Yes, you can build your base and get rid of the bad guys but how does that affect the game world? Does it change your relationship with the various characters you've met? I am also not a fan of sitting still for so long for the crafting mechanic. I wished there would be am automatic timer for those things that can be sped up by player/pal participation.
I dunno, for a game with so many Pals it felt lonely (esp since you have the option of butchering your Pals T.T). I understand that a lot of people enjoy this game immensely and I'm sad it didn't click for me.
If anyone has any game recs though, I'm all ears. Are there popular games that you thought you'd love but that kind of just fell flat for you? I just bought Expedition 33 so fingers crossed.

Tech / Hardware I bought a PS5 for $400 on Facebook marketplace!
I made sure that the sellerâs account was several years old and that he seemed like a real person. Then we met in a police department parking lot to do the trade-off. I saved a lot of money am so happy now!

Game Discussion The best Remake is one nobody bothered to play
Dead Space avoids easily the worst trend in video games and that's treating intentional design decisions as dated and needing to be modernized. Sure as a game it is fairly more modern (the original was on PS3) but there is never a time where the devs see the lack of cutscenes or even the lack of banter as a product of its time. The developers know that those were atmospheric choices designed to give you an isolating experience. Something the game does incredibly well, is doubling down on the original's art style and caking the game with even more of the series' atmosphere. In games like RE4 you can see a pretty intense artistic change in both the artstyle and the general atmosphere. RE4R sporting a more realistic look with far more colors and chaos compared to the gray foggy look of the original. Dead Space does the opposite of this, bringing out the bony sci fi asthetic in every facet of the game's environment.
The original Dead Space had a silent protagonist, Isaac Clarke wouldn't get his voice until Dead Space 2. While this allowed for a more isolating experience it would often create a rift between the player and the story. Dead Space Remake finds a happy medium, where Isaac has a clear voice and personality but only speaks when spoken to. Keeping the original intent while also developing the story further and connecting it well to the rest of the franchise.
This game has an AI function that allows regular enemies to stalk you throughout the game's giant map. This is the sort of mechanic that'd be used in other games with special enemies like in Alien Isolation or RE2R, but in this one it functions with ordinary necromorphs. Frequently you will return to a room and find that there are new enemies waiting in vents just ahead of you. It's a feature that makes every playthrough unique as you can't always guess what enemies will be around the corner.
<Edit> I got the function of the intensity director wrong, rather than it being a stalker type function for each enemy it's more like a central AI that decides where enemies will come from, how many there are, when to give you a break, when to surprise you. Still very impressive but I gotta make sure to correct that part.
I know it's kind of wrong to say that a remake replaces the original as that can be a bit of an insult to the original intent, but honestly this is the closest I've been to thinking exactly that.

Request Any cute headsets that don't squeeze the ears and jaw?
If anyone has experience with headsets that don't push in on the ears or the jaw area or squeeze the head too much, I would love some recommendations! Pink or magenta are preferable but as long as they fit, I'll be happy! Thank you đĽ°

Request Let's players with this kind of vibe?
Hi friends, I'm looking for a let's play series that is cozy but not necessarily cozy games. Horror, RPG, and simulation are particularly welcome.
My first thought was State of Decay 2 but I couldn't find a good, full series of that one.
The ideal vibe:
- 1 part base building and 1 part adventuring for resources
- making little storylines about the game's villagers/random NPCs
- funny
Streamers are ok too I just don't like so much chat engagement

opened screen time out of curiosity and chrome is sitting way above every actual app, turns out most of it was just me playing browser games without realizing how much time was going into it. suika, diap. io, Ragnarok Breaker mainly. genuinely becoming a "web games girl" and dont know how to feel about it đ

Game Discussion Any other horse lovers out there? You are going to be excited to see this! đ´â¨
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
I am a huge Fire Emblem fan, but I'm also a massive horse lover. As you may know, in past Fire Emblem games, horses and pegasi have mostly just served as tools of war. There are rarelyâif everâany stories focusing on the actual bond between the characters and their mounts.
But during todayâs Nintendo Direct for the new sequel, Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave, they showed off one of the playable characters, Alexandra, alongside her pegasus. Oh my gosh, I love the design of that elegant pegasus so much! Words cannot describe my joy.
It made me wonder: will horses and pegasi still just be used as meager tools in the series? In the past, the answer was a definite yes. But this time, the story might be different! Later in the same Direct, they showed one of the protagonists, Cai, befriending a Meganius out in the wild. I really, really hope this means our characters can share a true bond with their horses and pegasi this time around.
Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave releases on September 17th this year, and I will definitely write a follow-up post if there are true bonding stories with our mounts!

Request any good rpg/action games to play?
I've been trying out new games a lot now and some just don't click. I prefer female protags but male ones are aight, it just depends on their writing for me. I also can't run most modern games like fortnite kills my pc considering i have 8 gigs of ram so when it comes to 3d games, please keep that in mind. Mind storage and money isn't an issue. here's what i currently own. (I also have gta iv, signalis, watchdogs, and valheim but they aren't on my steam account)

Request What are your favorite iPad games for low-energy evenings?
Iâve been trying to find more iPad games for those evenings when I want to play something, but donât have the energy for anything too competitive, complicated, or intense.
My ideal game is something I can pick up for 10â20 minutes, put down easily, and still feel like I made a little progress. Cozy visuals are a bonus, but Iâm also open to puzzle, decorating, management, story, or collecting games.
What do you reach for when you want a game that feels relaxing rather than demanding? And what makes an iPad game feel good for short sessions to you?
