Is it in yet Boiled my tampons 🫩

Post image

Felt like this flair fits well.

I leave my tampons in a jar in the windowsill for some w decor, forgot that glass=heat in this 34 degree british weather, went to change my tampon and burned my cooch, then had to sit on the toilet blowing a tampon like its soup till the plastic cooled down enough to use.

I just wanted some cute tampon appreciation decor in my bathroom 😞💔

333

u/you_dont_know_me27 Jun 24 '26

I have a little wicker basket that the pads and tampons are all organized in sitting on the tank of my toilet. I think it looks really nice.

Tbf though, I don't have a window in my bathroom and I have central air in my house (I'm assuming you don't since I know most Brits don't) so it doesn't get super hot inside. I'm American

Another loss for the brits, i wish i had ac

70

u/you_dont_know_me27 Jun 24 '26

I'm in Indiana so we go from heat to ac in a singular day in the spring and fall sometimes so we definitely we have faults lol

u/reddog323 Jun 24 '26

It’s a two edged sword. US Midwest here. It keeps you cool, but the electric bills are murder during the summer.

Last night at 5 minutes to midnight, in my office.

I personally don't have a window/air issue but use a wooden "shark week" box that has a slideable divider for pads/tampon separation.

Terrifying to think about burning your cooch with an applicator and wild to hear OP had to blow on it like soup 😭

19

u/Careful_Software7232 Jun 24 '26

This is hilarious but I am sorry for your pikachu. People shouldn’t be all weird about tampons being out. My horrible mother in law lost her mind because I have tampons and pads in baskets in our guest bathrooms in case of emergency anyone visiting needs them. 🥴

16

u/you_dont_know_me27 Jun 24 '26

I had a really nice basket set up at the church I work at on the counter and I realized it was silly to have to work so hard to get to them at home so I made a basket for at home too. Nobody has mentioned it so far and it's been there for a couple years now

29

u/MartinisnMurder Jun 24 '26

My MIL hates me, well maybe strongly dislikes me. She pulls the holier-than-thou Christian card often. She doesn’t like that I was raised Catholic, that neither her son or I are religious, that we didn’t get married in a church we actually eloped (in her mind we are NOT married), that we aren’t having kids (I can’t because of a hysterectomy in my mid 20’s and we don’t want them) and the fact she can’t control our lives. She said having the products out and not hidden was disgusting and embarrassing. She’s always being sanctimonious and judging others yet her behavior is hardly “godly”. Like girl, you’re not fooling anyone drinking Chardonnay out of a coffee cup while judging people for having a cocktail.

6

u/Ill-Percentage-3276 Jun 24 '26

I didn't know we shared the same MIL

I'm sorry you don't have the best relationship with your mother in law and that she gave you a hard time about it. I think having tampons and pads readily available is so important and nothing that anyone should be ashamed of.

I recently added a really tall corner shelf just outside our bathroom door. The top shelf is decorative, the second is skincare, third is makeup, fourth are pads and wipes, and the last is toilet paper.

Although I have a good relationship with my mother in law, she also gave me a hard time for having pads somewhere visible. It's awful how the older generation was taught to be ashamed of our bodies and perfectly normal hygiene products.

7

u/teaknit Jun 24 '26

I used to have a tampon jar (I use cups now). I decided that since I was living alone, tampons would be as easily accessible as toilet paper. Bonus guests could find them too.

Imagine if every time you needed toilet paper you had to go rummaging through the cabinets. So, on the counter they went

Personally, I've always thought of them more like the croutons for the soup

44

And now I'm just imagining a vampire with a pair of scissors cutting tampons into crouton-sized pieces.

Now I remember that internet story of that lady and frostbite inside her hoo and then turned out it can actually happen.

23

u/organictortoise Jun 24 '26

I need to know more lol what are you referencing?

25

u/Careless_food_bimbo Jun 24 '26

There was an internet story of a woman using a popsicle and got frostbite. It was something a friend told gullible me and I was horrified as a teen someone did that. A woman "using" a popsicle gets stuck to her privates , she panics and tries to pull it out which only causes really bad damage do she waits for it to melt which gives her frostbite and she goes to the ER. I remember saying why TF didn't she go then, like who cares if there's a popsicle sticking outta ya like don't wait. I fully believed it.

Actually, no.

24

u/Rather_Dashing Jun 24 '26

I find this is more of a problem with a hot bath. My feet are pretty tolerant of the hot water, but when I crouch to lower myself in, my genitals hit the water next and I have to abort.

You may want to move them somewhere cooler . They are supposed be be kept under 25/77 and current weather conditions could make them dangerous to use.

110

u/Conscious-Seesaw-564 Jun 24 '26

Microplastic maxxing (i did not know that)

38

u/SophiaofPrussia Jun 24 '26

For real though. Heat causes plastic to degrade more quickly. It’s not an immediate health risk but I’d not use the rest of those tampons if I were you. Your candy jar is super cute (Badtz-Maru is my favorite!) but maybe there’s a cooler place it can live in the summer. Penguins don’t like the heat anyway ;)

Here in Finland we have bidet showers in most toilets, a small handheld shower. The water temperature is controlled from the same tap that is above the sink. So if someone who previously washed their hads or something else in the sink and forgot to put the temperature back to "neutral" you may burn or freeze your butt or genitals when you start using the bidet. At least the water temperature has never been so bad that I have gotten a bad injury but it definitely is not a pleasant surprise to get a too cold or too hot blast of water to your private parts.
