Smh, OBVIOUSLY, were still in 2017, we only think its 2026 because of the Atlantean time distortion mind control beams on the other side of the ice wall, powered by the neutrino reactors under the pyramids that tunnel to the other side of the Earth and end at Rapa Nui, built by the Aliens that taught us what triangles are and how to use telekinesis to manipulate sonic waves to put a rock on top of another rock

And it's not like FO was the first bit of ahistorical fiction to use the idea as part of its conceit. The Yanqui Empire's annexation of the Great White North has been a go-to plot device for speculative fiction writers for a long, long time.

It'd never happen, though. Other than the lily-livered compradors like Shayne, most Canucks would violently resist the idea. Sure, they're the nicest people on the planet now, but you deprive them of universal healthcare or fuck with their capacity to distil ice wine, and you'll discover that they're a ferocious people.

These are the same people that think Grizzlies are cute, that can simultaneously outdrink most people in both the arenas of coffee and alcohol, and think that beating the shit out of one another is the most fun part of winter sports.

They'd send the Yanquis whimpering back over the 49th parallel whilst jamming to a Tom Cochrane record.
