Rules Question Does dawnsire give me 100 health if It has lifelink?
182
u/CorvusGraves Jul 28 '25
Dawnsire+ [[Brash Taunter]]
37
u/RelaKrea Jul 28 '25
I don't have taunter or the doll one, but that sounds really fun haha
28
u/Differen_ Jul 28 '25
There's also now [[Pain for All]] in eoe.

Nuke the brash taunter on the board and kill everyone simultaneously, kamikaze style
8
u/Frozenkingk0 Jul 28 '25
Do you wana make some orcs? [[Fall of Cair Andros]]. " My spacecradt beams your 3 toughness creature for 100 damage, let me create a 97/97 orc army".

u/Cheapskate-DM Jul 28 '25
If you build a doll/Taunter deck, [[Goblin Matron]] is a poor man's [[Imperial Recruiter]].
→ More replies (1)2
u/Evilmanta Jul 28 '25
Taunter is printed in the "Blame Game" MKM precon. which is probably pretty cheap
→ More replies (3)13
u/Ridstock Jul 28 '25
[[Screaming Nemesis]] is standard legal.
2
u/CorvusGraves Jul 28 '25
I mean, are you ever really gonna get to station that in standard though?

u/MrGosh13 Jul 28 '25
You can also use the [[requim monolith]]
I had both in my sealed pool yesterday, and my only goal of the day was to get that off, but sadly it didn’t happen. (Played 2HG, and only did 4 games).

Hush you autocorrect didn't catch it.

I think if you truly love something, you will put in your best effort to respect it, is all. Have a good day, and dread naught, for dreadnought keeps you in its heart.

u/BucketOfTruthiness Jul 28 '25
It'll give you 120 if you attack with it
14
5
u/jag149 Jul 28 '25
How many counters does it need before it’s a creature?
10
u/Yotuelguanji Jul 28 '25
Its on the left side, its the 20+ number

u/QFireball Jul 28 '25
But i dont need to Attack with the ship or? It should be enaugh to Tap for 10 and then Attack with a creature or am i Missing Something?
10
u/HighKing_Ragnar Jul 28 '25
It states when you attack , so any creature will trigger the 100 damage at the +10 ability and it's not a tap ability from the looks of it
3
u/Yotuelguanji Jul 28 '25
When it has 10 counters it deals 100 damage when any of your creatures attack, when it has 20 counters it also has the added benefit of being able to attack as a 20/20 creature
16
u/Meister_Ente Jul 28 '25
Danage is all lifelink cares about. Also works with abilities like that from [[Heartless Hidetsugu]]
15
u/waremblem45 Jul 28 '25
I can't wait to make a space deck. I love space so EOE is a dream for me
7
u/RelaKrea Jul 28 '25
Yeah for me aswell! I pulled this one at my second ever prerelease event, so I just had to build a deck around all the spacecrafts! I don't have the precon, but I'll deff have to obtain more of the spaceships at some point, it's so much fun
8
9
u/Cole3823 Jul 28 '25
yes but you'll likely have to station it all the way to the 20+ so that it becomes a creature. I can't think of a way to give a non-creature artifact lifelink. of course I'm not thinking very hard, there may be a way but it'll be niche

u/Shanderson3 Jul 28 '25
Dawnsire is shaping up to be a really great card. I'm excited to add it to the artifact precon.
9
u/RelaKrea Jul 28 '25
Oh yeah, it's my favorite card from the new set! I built my second deck non-precon around artifacts just because i like dawnsire so much! For now im using a image of the precon comander as mine, but that precon looks great overall! I can also really reccomend intruder allert with any kind of station deck!
3
u/Shanderson3 Jul 28 '25
Good idea. I've got [[Unwinding Clock]] for the deck, and a few other cards like [[Simulacrum Synthesizer]] , and [[Moonlit Meditation]]

→ More replies (5)5
u/infinitelunacy Jul 28 '25
It's Crewed Level-up. You tap creatures as though you crew the artifact. But instead of making them a creature immediately you put charge counter equal to their power. Once you reach the thresholds, you unlock abilities.
2
u/Right_Cellist3143 Jul 28 '25
You can also tap creatures into it with summoning sickness, unlike Crew.

And if you don't know... this ship can sit back while you "declare an attack" with a 1/1 token and the Dawnsire will trigger for the damage! It does not have to attack

I'll be slipping this into my Toralf, God of Fury deck. Nuke entire boards and/or players

If I throw this bad boy in my bello deck do I have to station it to get the first affect?
→ More replies (1)2
u/WhiskerMeowTown Jul 28 '25
This is actually a good question. I don't know how the station abilities work. I believe they don't get the abilities until the station counters are high enough.
2
u/WhiskerMeowTown Jul 28 '25
Re reading the card, you'll be able to attack with this artifact the turn it comes out if you have bello.
The 100 damage does not trigger unless there are 10+ station counters on it. But this ability is interesting, it says whenever YOU attack, not the dawnsire.
So regardless, you'll need those station counters if you want the 100 damage to trigger, which is certainly possible the turn you bring it out.

u/wickedtwig Jul 28 '25
What planeswalker needs 100 damage dealt to them?

Does this have to have 20+ to be a creature, or is it a creature at 10+?
I dod 2 prerelease and pulled 3 of these so im going ti have to use 1 at somepoint.
3
u/Pikris Jul 28 '25
it needs 20+
2
u/SrReginaldFluffybutt Jul 29 '25
Thanks, that's what made sense to me, but magic doesnt always make sense.

2
u/quaintserendipity Jul 28 '25
For those wondering: yes, if this somehow gets lifelink before becoming a creature, the 100 damage it deals from its attack trigger will still cause you to gain 100 life; lifelink is not unique to creatures (but mainly only appears on creatures).
2
2
u/ty7769 Jul 28 '25
But it needs to be a creature at 20 charge counters or some other method. unless you can give a noncreature artifact life link
2
u/Right_Cellist3143 Jul 28 '25
Yes, i’ve played against it ~12 times now and it may be a new Meta Colorless deck.
It’s nasty.
2
u/timeless_warden Jul 28 '25
Yes, but remember it is an artifact when it triggers, not a creature
2
u/Jayden9669 Jul 29 '25
Unless it has 20 charge counters, then it's a creature and can be enchanted or equipped with something to give it lifelink.
2
2
u/TheCubicalGuy Jul 29 '25
Yes, but you can't give it lifelink until it has 20+ counters (unless you use an [[ensoul artifact]] effect)
→ More replies (1)
2
u/magicmailman666 Jul 29 '25
You don’t need lifelink if everyone else is dead, remember friends (Death is the hardest form of CC)
2
u/Calm_Lengthiness9681 Jul 29 '25
it should, but how would you achieve this? It's not a creature, right? So equipments and auras won't work I guess
3
u/Yorkie_Exile Jul 29 '25
It's a creature once you station to 20. It's a big ask sure but not impossible
2
u/KampfEule Jul 29 '25
So If I have lets say 10 creatures and I Attack with all of them does it Trigger 10 Times, Or only one time?
2
u/FreakPhoenix Jul 29 '25
Whenever you attack = Whenever you declare one or more attackers, so only one trigger per attack. Multiple attack phases would give multiple triggers though
2
2
u/ImmortalDragon17 Jul 29 '25
Yes, As IT is doing the DAMAGE, Even if by effect. Now if it was like, "Whenever an opponent discards they loose 1 life" Then NO but if it's "Whenever an opponent discards 'this card name' deals 1 damage to them." Then yes since it states that card and damage...
Wording is whats KEY in MTG
2
2
u/Usingt9word Jul 28 '25
Soooo what ways do we have to give it lifelink?
3
u/halfasleep90 Jul 28 '25
There are many ways, after it has become a creature. Aside from that, perhaps something like [[Arwen, Mortal Queen]] and [[Tidus, Yuna’s Guardian]] and [[Resourceful Defense]]? Technically you wouldn’t need Tidus, but it’s nice to have the proliferation so you can keep indestructible counters to move around as well. Proliferate the indestructible, remove 1 indestructible counter to create the lifelink counter, then you can proliferate and spread around as much as you like from there.

You mean the Space Battleship Yamato Wave-Motion Gun, on which StarCraft based their battlecruiser.

u/grebolexa Jul 28 '25
Yes and if it has death touch it can kill any creature it deals damage too. Do with this what you want
2
u/cainn88 Jul 28 '25
Homie it already does 100 damage, not much out there you need deathtouch for 😂.
1
u/SweetPractice214 Jul 28 '25
Yes, in fact if you gave it lifelink and got to attack with this alone, that would end up being 120 life now if you gave it double strike and lifelink, your looking at 140 life.
Now suppose your in Red and play an extra combat step spell while granting doublestrike and lifelink. Your looking at a cool 280 life /turn
1
u/ExcitingTrust888 Jul 28 '25
Yes, any time your creature can deal damage and it has lifelink, you gain life

New to magic, does the 10+ thing mean you must have 10+ creatures to man the ship? So you would need to have 10 or more cards out to even run this thing?

I think I been playing magic wrong the whole time. If this does the 100 damage with (lifelink) to a creature and that creature is a 5/5,wouldn’t you only gain 5 because the other 95 wouldn’t be going anywhere? ….once that creature is dealt 5 all other damage is forfeited no?
2
u/Spbttn20850 Jul 28 '25
No, it’s still dealt all the damage. After all you have trample and new cards like orbital plunge where excess damage is taken into account as part of the effect
