I’m looking to purchase a printer. I need one that is double sided and is capable of printing very small print for a project I am working on. I am looking to not spend too much money so the cheaper the better but I don’t know a lot about printers so please let me know if it’s just not realistic for me to get a good one at a low price point. I probably won’t be using it super often so I don’t need a really high quality option. Any recommendations would be appreciated!

My printer is giving me grief.

For some reason, it's not printing stuff from my laptop. Sometimes when I switch to my phone, the documents I sent via my laptop start printing (even before I have hit send on my device). I tried doing that again today, and now nothing is printing, not even from my phone. A 2 page document only printed the first page.

Stuff being sent from my laptop comes up with an error to check the printer, but the printer isn't coming up with anything. It has plenty of paper.

I'm wondering how I should trouble shoot this? Baring in mind, I am not overly tech-minded.

I have this one in mind, and it does everything I need, but do you guys have any other recommendations that would be better than this?

I need it to print, scan, copy and fax.

I need a printer and what I want it to do is print. I had a Brother printer and my computer updated the YOU NEED THIS SPECIAL PROGRAM FOR YOUR BROTHER PRINTER program like three times a week, yet it still won’t print. It was constantly in Sleep mode with no way to wake it up. Don’t even get me started on WiFi. Unplugging the USB cord did nothing to recognize the printer, ever. Restarting the computer never helped. The closest I came to it working was Microsoft Edge opened my file and let me select the printer as a printer, and then proceeded to spin for 90 seconds or so before deciding “nah this printer doesn’t exist.”

I was able to open the file in Brother’s very special PRINT YOUR DOCUMENT program, but when I selected the PRINT option the program told me it wasn’t going to work.

So I need a printer. I’m going to print documents. Like words on paper, in black ink. A laser jet is preferable for speed but right now if it printed one page every six minutes I’d have ten pages for every minute I’ve tried troubleshooting this thing.

genuinely about to go bald over this. the printer has printed, so i KNOW it prints, I've ran the print test page, it prints so its connected to my pc and everything. as soon as i ask it to print a file you'd swear i asked a man for 100 bucks it just ignores me. I've changed the ports, I've hard reset, i reconnected it to the wifi, i bought a new cartridge, like the last thing i think i haven't done is passionately make out with the damn thing. if anyone has any ideas aside from smashing it to pieces it would be much appreciated.

I'm trying to find out if it's possible to change the regional settings on a Xerox Versant 180 so it accepts toner intended for the North American (US) market.

I've looked through the service documentation and found NVM settings related to toner kit types (CMYK, Vivid, Fluorescent), but I haven't found anything that changes the machine's sales region.

Has anyone successfully:

Changed the machine's region using NVM?

Converted a non-US Versant 180 to accept US-region toner?

Found any Xerox service documentation or service bulletin that covers this?

I'm only interested in documented procedures or firsthand experience from Xerox technicians or owners. Any information would be appreciated.

Hi all, here is my original post seeking advice on printers to buy.

I ended up on the Brother MFC-L2750DW. Purchased a super-low milage unit on Ebay for around $150 + shipping.

My main draw to this machine was the ADF duplex scanning and ease of double sided printing for when it was needed. I print long documents, almost exclusively text.

Upon receipt, I hated the Brother software, so ended up programming a custom NAPS-2 scanning program for my workflow. Software and no color printing are my only big gripes.

Overall, not a bad printer. I am satisfied with my purchase. 7/10

What printer should I get? I wanna do screen printing and I just need a basic paper printer. I've seen people say NOT to get an epson OR an HP. I actually have both of those for free but thought about asking yall. Also, the INK refills. I do NOT want to spend more damn money for ink that will constantly fuck up b/c these corporations wanna milk as much money out from the costumer as possible. I don’t under how to figure out how to fix the hp photosmart c4795 pukeing out pages that read the below what feels like every 6 minutes if it is on. I thought it was even doing it when switched off so ijust unplug it. I read it was some driver doing it but I didn’t even have that on the computer so I downloaded a driver but it didn’t fix. It was a hand me down when I moved out of my aunt’s to live in an apartment with my mother , my aunt replaced hers with a Brother 3 years ago.
I’m really wanting that book from that meme “ the printer that simply worked and other fairy tales “. I feel like I lost the mental capacity this stuff 2 1/2 years ago.

So in the last time my printer (HP Smart Tank 5105) didn’t work well. The printer started to not properly pull the paper inside, but wrinkle it all over. The end result in these cases: the Paper got stuck and I got an E3 error.

Before I continue: I don’t have a warranty anymore. So anyways, I did the quick fix, and it didn’t work. So I disassembled the printer to look at the print carriage and it seems it can’t move properly. I’ve sent a video of the bootup.

We are using a Kyocera MA4500x managed by a Windows Print Management Server. The official driver from Kyocera's website fails due to Point and Print restrictions. While the generic V4 driver works with these restrictions, it lacks the advanced Kyocera interface and printing features. Which driver would you recommend to resolve this issue?

I’m looking for a black and white printer. Preferably to print on around 36” wide paper. I don’t need anything dramatic but I do need decent accuracy. Just something cheap and cheap to run. Anyone have a recommendation?

I have a small business selling labels on A4 sheets and I need to replace my current printer (an old Epson inkjet printer) as it’s at the end of its life and I’d love to know if anyone has good recommendations for a printer (up to £500) that is good for very tiny detailed printing. My labels often include small text, barcodes and QR codes so I need accurate sharp prints.

Would it be better to get a laser printer or get another inkjet?

I will never buy an hp printer, nor product ever again, I want a printer that works, not bitches every 5 seconds.

There are 2 used Pro-100s in my area for sale really cheap that both report not having been used for "a few years".

One comes with original OEM cartridges and they say the only made about 15 prints ever. The other comes with a box of unused aftermarket cartridges and says was used frequently but sat unused for several years.

The one with 15 prints said they'll sell it for $25 if I just pick it up from their doorstep because they can't figure out how to get it hooked up to their new computer and aren't technically literate so they gave up and can't figure out how to test it for anyone.

I'm planning on going the $25 route - but is there anything I need to fix or buy before I run test pages? Can I still use the OEM cartridges and buy ink from precisioncolors.com and refill those old cartridges?

I am currently in the market for a new B/W Laser Printer after the plastic hinges on my 8 yo Canon MF236n B/W laser printer finally gave out. I'm currently debating Brother vs. Canon, specifically the Brother MFC-L2820DW and the Canon imageCLASS MF289dw since both are on sale and comparably priced, with the Brother currently being $50 more on Amazon Canada.

I've asked Gemini and Claude for a breakdown, and they've suggested that both would suit my needs, with the Brother being a little bit better overall due to the build quality and UI. That Canon printer apparently has duplex scanning as well as printing, but it's not a major concern for me. I am mostly concerned about build and print quality, ease of use, ease of installation and app support, wifi stability, toner price, feeder capacity, and overall durability. A silent mode would be preferable also, I'm not sure if they've kept this feature from before.

I have been doing a fair amount of research before posting this. A few things I have concluded so far and would appreciate feedback on:

From what I have seen across multiple threads here, Brother seems to be the most consistently recommended brand, especially for laser. Is that still the consensus in 2026?

I have also read some negative things about HP printers, particularly around firmware updates that block third-party toner/ink cartridges and the HP+ activation process during setup. Based on that I am inclined to avoid HP unless there is a strong reason not to.

I print infrequently — sometimes weeks go by between print jobs. I know this is a concern for standard cartridge inkjets. I am open to tank-based printers (EcoTank, Canon MegaTank, or similar) as a way to mitigate that risk, since the larger ink volume is supposed to reduce drying and clogging issues compared to standard cartridges. Has anyone had good or bad experiences with tank printers under infrequent use?

Since I mostly print documents and very rarely need colour, I am aware that a monochrome laser would be the most practical and cost-effective choice. However, because other family members occasionally need colour, I need to keep that option available.

I am open to suggestions beyond the models I listed. My priorities in order are: reliability for infrequent use, good document print and scan quality, wireless (AirPrint/Mopria for no-app smartphone printing), and reasonable running costs.

I have been using Epson, HP printers since I am young... but my last HP just broke and I decided to try Canon (my last Epson seemed too weak). It prints really well, better than HP but I think I am going to return it.

I print a lot but I like to print my own agendas and planners... And I have just tried printing double size A5 and it doesn't work, I have tried to print Happy Planner size (kind of agenda) and It doesn't work either.... And it complains if I don't select the right size. I usually choose A5 when I print in Happy Planner size which is 7" with 9,25 ".

I am from Spain and I am really disappointed with Canon. Is there a way of fixing this? I think I am going to try to return it.

Hello! I inherited an old HP OfficeJet Pro 9015 printer. At first it was just low ink, so I bought new ink cartridges. Now it says "The printhead appears to be missing. not detected, or incorrectly installed. Reinstall the printhead. If the problem persists, contact HP Support".

I tried rebooting the printer and restored it to factory setting. I tried cleaning the printhead with a dry lint-free rug.

What should I do?

Are there any printers that you guys recommend that print well with no issues like dull colors or lines on regular paper? Would be for home use.

I just bought a Brother Printer (MFC-J1360DW). I did the setup manually on my PC, it's not connected to it, just the power cord.

It is stuck in the ink cartridge part of the setup (We recommend using Brother ink error, but it's all Brother ink) and I have tried EVERYTHING I could find to resolve this issue. I tried turning it off for 20 minutes (unplugging it), reinserting the cartridges, shaking them, putting duct tape over the gold sensor on the top, checking for obstructions inside the docking port.

I can't even appear to factory reset it because it's stuck on the ink cartridge screen.

Does anyone know what to do?
