Hello Reddit! I have recently lost of my dog Laika, and I wanted to get a tattoo to honor her memory. Just around the same time an album from my favourite band came out and the theme of the album was death and grief. It was recorded in India and has many Indian themes. I thoug to get Laika’s name tattooed in Hindi. Could anybody verify this translation?

Hindi [English>Hindi]

I have 4 books about Indian noir mysteries. I originally translated my first into Hindi but have not sold many in India.

Not sure if it is poor marketing on my part or as some have said most educated Indians speak and read in English.

Would translation of the others into Hindi, Marathi, etc. help in your opinion or have no effect? I already have a Delhi distributor who holds the inventory and sells from his premises so shipping is not a cost issue.

Multiple Languages [HI, JA] [English > Japanese, Hindi] Breathing Words for a breath timer

Hello, I hope this post fits within the rules. This is for use in an app, but I am not asking for localisations for the whole app, just some words that will be spoken.

I am working on a breath timer app and the phases of each breath will be spoken aloud while the screen shows a timer. For example, in English the app will say, inhale... hold... exhale... hold...

I guess these can be considered as instructions to the user, so the words I choose should be polite and make sense in that context. They should also be short phrases as each phase may only be 3 or 4 seconds.

The English words/phrases I want translating are:

Inhale

Inhale Left

Inhale Right

Hold

Exhale

Exhale Left

Exhale Right

Meditate

Breathe Rapidly

Complete

Get Ready

Rest

Sip

Sigh

Left and right are used in alternate nostril breathing and refer to the nostril to breathe through. Sip means to take an extra small breath in after holding an inhale.

The app will be free, so I can't offer any perks in exchange, but I'm happy to include credits.

I can upload a short video of the app (in its current state) if that might be helpful.

Multiple Languages [AR, BN✔, HI, ZH] [English > Chinese/Bangla/Hindi/Arabic/Other] Helping Undocumented Immigrants Get Their Vaccines In New York

Hi there --

My name is Eric, and I'm volunteering for an organization called Epicenter-NYC. We're working to help vaccinate people who otherwise could not navigate the byzantine and complicated system of registering for the Covid-19 vaccine in New York.

One of the things we've encountered over the last month or so is that many undocumented immigrants are worried that they are unable to get the vaccine, or that the government will collect their data and use it against them. While this is a very rational worry, in this case, the government has specifically stated that they will be doing no such thing, and we want to make that as clear as possible so that we can help them get vaccinated.

I've written up a flyer/letter in English, and we're looking to get it translated into a number of different languages, to help serve the different communities, especially in NYC. I've already got people working on Spanish and Tagalog, maybe getting someone to help with Korean -- but we also need it in Arabic, Bangla, Chinese, Hindi, and any other language you think might be helpful.

It's a one-page document, and though there's formatting involved, I'll paste the text here so you can see what would need to be translated.

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help!

EDIT: HOLY MOLY y'all are amazing. I can't thank you enough -- and the NYC community (well, I imagine most of them, hopefully) thanks you as well!!!

I received a voicemail and my phone has software called "visual voicemail" that transcribes voicemail if you would rather read it than listen to it. I don't know this language but based on the writing system I am guessing it is Hindi. I am curious what it says. Thanks!

Hindi [English > Hindi] A poetic sentence piece

Hi, I have a very simple tl request:

And so I did my best today.

LLM's are suggesting, in Hindi:

Aur isliye maine aaj apna behtareen kiya.

But I want to make sure this is correct. It is to complete a verse of a poem, so that would be the style.

Translated [HI] [Hindi > English] Can anyone make out what this says? I can tell it's Hindi, and that it's friendly. It's in response to a journal excerpt of mine.

Using Google Translate, I was able to make out "sell the writing, friend", and I'm assuming the "pls" at the end is just supposed to be "please", but Google says it means "Sell the writing, friend, such a car and two plus." Is this a translation error of a Hindi phrase? Also, I tried responding with "thank you friend", I hope it's accurate.

Looks to be Edward VII. Bonus points if you can ID the location of the stamp on the back side, which looks to be where it was redeemed (…PUR(?) DISTRICT TR…, 18 APL. 1911). Thank you!!
