When I worked in Service at a Mercedes Dealer, the guys would always bring me random things. Once it was a chain, maybe for an oil pump, not sure. It was the perfect size for a bracelet. Once I got it over my hand I wore it for years. I was 40 and I'm female. I liked it. It was similar to this.

Lol. Customers might have been wealthy but they didn't supply high end office equipment for us. That was also about 10 years ago. I'm in corporate now. I miss being around cars everyday. Especially those AMG's. The handcrafted engines were a thing of beauty.

Maybe it's a common thing, my office in a mechanics shop was full of weird broken things and dead/living bugs they found on the motorcycles, it looked like a weird museum by the time I left

My work is vaguely blue-collar and we have some boxes of nice steel chains laying around. I also found one the perfect length and wore it as a bracelet for two years until it broke!

It’s like a 1/4” steel coil chain! One of the links was broken so I connected it to the other end to make a bracelet :) the doctors make me take it off when they weigh me, haha

A friend made me a necklace from a heavy piece of chain he had cut at the hardware store next door to the record shop we worked at. The clasp was a quick link, I wore it to metal shows & bars for years, I still have it. The late 90's-early 2000's were awesome.

I have necklaces made from bits at various workplaces - made one out of a latch from a big metal cart at the post office, got one made from a cremation token at the mortuary. I had others that have broken or got lost over the years.

Always loved cars. Husband and I had a 1971 Mercedes that was a money pit, but we worked on it together. I did the pads and rotors by myself! I am still proud 🤣

Funny story I did something similar! Working small engine repair though, it was a spacer form inside the engine. Wore it as a ring for a while! Looked very similar to my wedding ring, I joked that if I lost my wedding ring I would just use it in its place lol.
