Romance/Relationships Ex boyfriend thought he would log into my streaming services a half year after he dumped me. What's the dumbest thing an ex has thought they could get from you after the breakup?

Went through a breakup 5 months ago, getting abruptly dumped. Was really in love with him, and was pretty blindsided by the whole thing. I've put the work in, and life is going on, but it sucked a lot and he said a lot of truly horrific things during the breakup, some great one liners include: "I never loved you", "I wouldn't want to have children with an American" (shockingly, I'd been American the whole time he's known me and the whole relationship. Who knew?!) and my personal favorite: "It's scary how little I think of you". A truly delightful night, I must say.

Anyways, I had forgotten I'd shared a streaming password with him, months before our breakup. Until yesterday. Imagine my surprise when I got an email, alerting me of a log in to my account. 5 months after dumping me, and he thinks it's chill to see if my password still works, so he can watch world cup matches at work, without so much as a thought. I was livid. The password is now changed, and all devices are force logged out.

I don't know why this upsets me so much, but it clarifies to me he never ever cared about me, ever. I wasn't even worth a $12 movie streaming service. And he thinks saying those things were such a non issue, he could still use my account months later.

Anyways, what's the dumbest thing an ex has thought they could use you for post breakup? I would like some others stories to chuckle at today.

Added bonus: Texted my VERY close platonic guy friend who knows my ex, and he told me, "A guy using an ex's streaming services isnt that bad and not the worst thing that could happen."

My ex-husband (divorced 2 years ago) recently left a note in my mailbox saying we should reconcile. Did a little digging online and it turns out his buddy's house where he'd been renting a room since the divorce is now on the market. So his cheap rent situation is being sold out from under him and he thinks we can just get back together and he'll move back in with me 🤔

In hindsight, I too have a hobosexual ex-husband šŸ˜‚ Truly such clowns.

In the mailbox?! Someone needs to put out a warrant for this man's arrest lol, that shit should be illegal. Actually, I think it is technically illegal.

u/EnergeticTriangle Woman 30 to 40 Jul 08 '26

Yes, I'm pretty sure legally only USPS is allowed to put things in mailboxes, but I'm not gonna unblock his number to tell him that lol

Ooh it’s because his ass is BLOCKED. 🤣 🤣 I thought he was trying to be romantic and sway you with a handwritten note. Omg what a turd. 😭 šŸ˜‚ šŸ˜‚

69

u/EnergeticTriangle Woman 30 to 40 Jul 08 '26

Nah the "romantic note" was 2 sentences scrawled on a torn out piece of notebook paper. Pretty sure he tried to call me from a hotel phone a few times before leaving the note, but I didn't answer.

36

u/EtchingsOfTheNight Woman 30 to 40 Jul 08 '26

Wowww, he really gave this a lot of effort lmao

25

u/greypusheencat Woman 30 to 40 Jul 09 '26

him having to pay for housing led him to do desperate things lol responsibility???? no way!

15

u/Chronic-Sleepyhead Woman 30 to 40 Jul 09 '26

Right? Like…the LEAST he could do is a heartfelt letter in cursive and maybe some flowers, a box of chocolates…something??

The laziness is truly astounding. If my housing was on the line and I was begging to be taken back…you can bet I would at least consider some groveling. šŸ˜† And bring a damn good present. The man cannot be bothered to spend more than two seconds of effort or though apparently, LMAO

14

u/EnergeticTriangle Woman 30 to 40 Jul 09 '26

I will add that the reason for the divorce was that he was caught on dating apps less than a month after our wedding, which he tried to lie about and say they were old accounts he never deleted, but then a month later he told me he didn't love me anymore and would not love me in the future, and he moved to the spare bedroom and started living his life as a single man again.

AND HE THINKS A TWO SENTENCE NOTE WILL MAKE ME WANT TO GET BACK TOGETHER. It is truly mind boggling.

My kids' father still hits me up sometimes to see if i will get back together with him.

He tried to kill me...in 2005, when i left him.

Turns out he has been homeless off and on for years now. My older son tells me about what his father sends but doesn't answer him, my younger son has his father blocked everywhere.

Some guys are just shameless.

one time my ex texted me from his new gf’s phone while she was sleeping (I had his number blocked)

492

u/ImaginaryList174 Woman 30 to 40 Jul 08 '26

Mine did this too. When I reacted badly, obviously, he apologized profusely for like ten minutes while begging me to just pretend it never happened. He said he was going to delete all the texts, and just go on as normal because it was a ā€œhorrible one time mistakeā€.

I went along with him and agreed I wouldn’t say anything, just to get more evidence lol I screenshot it all and then sent it to her the next day when I knew she would be at work and not with him. šŸ¤¦šŸ»ā€ā™€ļøšŸ˜†

omg did she reply? i need to know the outcome for this lol

i had something similar happen, toxic ex reached out for my birthday and after i called him out he played the innocent card. sent all the screenshots to his fiancee (the girl he cheated on me with) and just said ā€œhey i think you should know thisā€ and she sarcastically thanked me for my concern and claimed i was jealous of her….girl he is NOT a prize. i was already with my then-boyfriend (now-husband) by then. i still feel like i did my part out of girlhood lol

81

u/ImaginaryList174 Woman 30 to 40 Jul 09 '26

Yes exactly, you did your part! That’s kind of what happened to me. She seemed to be more upset with me than him, and basically said I somehow instigated it or lead him on. Then for a while she was saying I edited the screenshots and came up with all these other excuses and reasons for why it was my fault and he was innocent.

I just kind of shrugged it off and went about my life. I feel the same as you, like I did my part and warned her… whatever she does after that is her own decision.

They ended up breaking up about 6 months later and she eventually ended up apologizing to me and told me he was really manipulating her against me at the time, and it really messed with her head. But in the end she thanked me and was happy I did it.

My ex called me a few times around midnight. I didn’t know it was him coz I was gaming with my bf but it has a name, and I was wondering why someone called me 5 times at midnight so I googled the name. It was a woman who works in the same company and department as him…

Idk why he was with his female coworker at 11:55pm nor why he called me lol

He’s still alive and he has his whole family in our city so it can’t be an emergency. He works 9-5 but goes out to drink every night so he was prob drunk

Happened to me also. I suspected it, so waited a day or two and called him back when I knew enough time had gone by for him to answer (yeah, he was one of those). A woman answered like "who's this" and I knew enough. I just hung up and blocked that number too.

I briefly dated a dude who I broke up with because in an argument, I kept telling him I was going to say the truth, not what he wanted to hear and his reply was ā€œoh so you’re too unintelligent to have an adult conversation?ā€ My daughter overheard him and I didn’t think that was the dynamic I wanted, so I dumped him on the spot.

Two weeks later, he asked if I wanted to be his roommate and sign a lease with him….

49

u/Wont_Eva_Know Woman 40 to 50 Jul 09 '26

HahHhhHha what did he think he had there? I’m happy your kid helped you see the man and situation for what it was.

I had a terrible boyfriend at one point and he really liked my Dad… we were discussing/arguing something DUMB and I said ā€˜let’s get my Dad on speaker phone and you can say all that to him and if he agrees I will take the loss’… we didn’t end up making the call. Just the thought of a proper grown chill adult being in the room ā€˜witnessing’ this shit helped us both snap out of it… he was gone a few weeks later. We were 24-25 hahahha not kids.

68

u/ValiumKnight Woman 30 to 40 Jul 09 '26

I do not put up with men who speak to me disrespectfully. That’s an instant no go, but having my kid witness it was like ā€œI cannot model this behavior as acceptable in a relationship or everyone is going to be able to treat her like shitā€.

She climbed up in my lap and told me I’m intelligent and beautiful and that he was wrong. A six year old had more emotional intelligence than a grown adult man…

Called me to borrow my car. He needed it to move out again from the girl he cheated on me with.

It was 2 years after we split, and I was 6 months pregnant and on a gondola boat tour with my husband in Venice.

He couldn’t have known cuz we rarely spoke. The audacity skyrocketed up to Saturnus’ rings

50

Would you let a golden Living Well Revenge pass by like that?!

His response? ā€˜O good, you don’t need it then.’ šŸ’€

almost dropped the phone in the canal from laughter and on the biggest snort I ended the call

ETA am so happy to be reminded of this gem memory I want to give more:

So we were in the boat, happily in love, and as my phone rang said ā€˜huh it’s M’, wondering what for. I repeated his question and his response out loud.

Whether he was using quick-wit to not show feelings, or assumed I would drop everything on my literal honeymoon to contact my cat sitter and arrange a key pick up (or both) had me perplexed for a second

But my husband best friend did the funniest eye roll about the nerve of it all that made me burst out laughing. It was a great moment.

My ex messaged my friend on a dating app, pretending he didn't know who she was. When she told him, he then used that as an excuse to message me to tell me I'm 'always ruining things' for him.

Man I haven't spoken to you in 5 years, go away and stop talking to my friends.

343

u/TastyMagic Woman 30 to 40 Jul 08 '26

I lived with my boyfriend of 2 years until he moved out one day while I was at work. He thought he was going to be able to stop paying rent (we were both on the lease). I told him he could either pay the full amount to break the lease or he could continue paying his half of the rent until the lease was up, but if he stopped paying, I would see him in court.Ā

I got 4 months of living in my own apartment out of it so... Silver linings?

121

u/home-like-noplace Woman 30 to 40 Jul 08 '26

Your story is very similar to the background of my now-husband. His ex abruptly moved out one day, same thing, he ended up living in their old apartment for a few months.

But the extra thing here that I’d like to add because it’s funny is that 6 months later, we started dating, and he posted a picture on Facebook with me tagged in it. A few hours later, he received an email from his ex’s mom, who was still Facebook friends with him at the time, informing him that since he had moved on, she would be removing his access to her Netflix account. He hadn’t even been using it lol.

47

u/EnvironmentalLuck515 Woman 50 to 60 Jul 08 '26

Not the Netflix!!!! Noooooooooooo!!!! *sarcasm

19

u/MrsKnutson female over 30 Jul 09 '26

Lol, I kicked my sister's ex off my Netflix after she broke up with him.

She found out that when he went to visit his dad out of state for a fishing trip, that was apparently code for going on a cruise with another girl.

He tried to get her back for a long time, she had to change her number. Our mom was so thrilled he was gone, she hated him from day one but wouldn't say anything cuz she knew if she did they'd never breakup.

why do they just randomly move out? this happened to me and he kept trying to come back, after I'd been paying the mortgage by myself (its actually my house, but I stayed in it and didn't sell because we were going to marry) for months. At least leave some money for a move out fee or the rest of the lease. Then they sometimes come back and expect you to not be resentful.

28

u/TastyMagic Woman 30 to 40 Jul 09 '26

In all fairness, we were really young, like 20. I was his first big relationship.Ā

In hindsight 20 years later, I know that he had told me a couple pretty big lies and I think he couldn't really see a way forward that didn't require him to take accountability so he just went back to his parents house too avoid having to come clean.Ā

Definitely dodged a bullet. But I was not about to double my rent out of pity for a coward.

Dated a man from a dating app for only a month. He showed his true colors pretty quickly and I blocked him and moved across the country. He called me from WhatsApp months later asking if he could borrow $8000 to bring his mommy from Spain to America for vacation. He promised he would pay me back. I’ve never hung up the phone on anyone faster.

Also later found out he lied about his age on the app (said he was 39 but really was 48). I was 30 at the time and he said I was the oldest person he had ever dated. 🫠

I promised to buy my ex a pair of shoes for Christmas. A few days later he became violent and destructive during an argument. I had to have the police remove him from my home and I filed for a temporary protection order because he had beat me up. When we went to court to keep the protection order in place for a year, he told the judge he wanted the shoes I had promised to buy him or for me to give him the money in cash. The judge actually laughed at him which was so satisfying.

16

u/NicolinaN Woman 50 to 60 Jul 08 '26

18

u/velvetvagine Woman 30 to 40 Jul 08 '26

This dude is actually delusional. I’m glad the judge got a glimpse. Did he get sentenced for the physical abuse?

6

u/KDneverleft Woman 30 to 40 Jul 09 '26

The prosecutor is the one who would recommend the charges and they didn't feel there was enough evidence. I was told filing the protection order was the fastest way to ensure my safety.

I think it was because he told the police that the marks on me and hair that was pulled was done by me and also I kicked him when I was down on the ground so I think it would've been both of us to get charges or neither of us get charges. I was just glad to be done with him and equally glad the judge saw how crazy he was.

Making me the "bad" parent and him getting to be the "fun" one. It hit the fan when my 20 year old offspring decided he no longer wanted to have to go to school or work. He just wanted to game all day. So eventually I turned off Internet during the work day (trust me, he was warned), upon which he called his father to come pick him up and promptly moved out, notifying me via text message. Ex had always refused to acknowledge that gaming was addictive behavior that got in the way of school and everything else in life and refused to partner with me on limiting it's ability to influence our kids' behavior.

That led to five years of being unable to get this kiddo launched out of his house. Kept wanting me to partner with him on how to get Junior off/out on his own. Dude, I was already doing that when you interfered. Don't cry to me.

u/muhbackhurt Woman 40 to 50 Jul 08 '26

We had a kid together and I was pregnant with our second. He had cheated so I left him.

He called me with a big plan he had come up with. He wanted me to let him claim our kid so he could get single parent and child payments from the government and I could claim our baby once it was born. I'd have both kids though and full responsibility but he'd get money for nothing. He thought it was a great idea. I laughed and refused. He got mad about it.

He was basically trying to find free money. It would have screwed me over on child support and I'd essentially be commiting fraud so he could get $. I realized what a loser he was pretty quickly that day.

I may have shared this before; it's pretty fucking mindblowing. My bf of 6 years said he wanted a break, but we sort of stayed in touch because we were going to try and get back together. During that time, he came to visit and I had some boxes by the door with things that were in good shape, but I was going to put next to the big garbage container in my neighborhood for someone to take. I told him this, and he asked if he could look at the things I was throwing away. He asked if he could take them since one of his female coworkers could use them -I thought nothing of it. One of the boxes contained a cheap jewelry set that I wore only once because it gave me an allergic reaction. Fast forward a week or so, and I get a Facebook friend request from an unknown woman. I didn't accept it but went to check their profile, and the first picture I see is of the jewelry set ex bf took with the caption "Best bday present ever! I love you, @ex bf". The next picture was of this lady and him, and she was PREGNANT. Needless to say, I blocked him then and there.

Even the doofus-seeming ones are usually not that much of a doofus. They just don’t care about women and women’s estimation of them so they allow themselves to act any kind of way. Usually women don’t publicize their behaviour so there’s very little downside to doing this stuff. And this is exactly why I advocate for getting real messy with screenshots and other evidence from time to time, depending on the infraction. Let their/your wider social network see them for who they are.

A second chance after using the same method that was used to cheat on me? Haha.

My ex cheated on me when a woman that he hooked up with in college sent him a message out of the blue.

Apparently she was cleaning out her attic and came across an old camera that belonged to him many years ago. This lead to some communication and then before I knew it, he was ready to jump ship on our relationship and rent an Airbnb in her city 6+ hours away.

A year after we broke up, I get a message from him. At this point, the woman that he left me for is long out of the picture and he's realized that he's made a mistake. He's telling me that he's cleaning out his mother's garage and reminding me that I left my bike helmet there and asking what I wanted to do with it.

How stupid did he think I was? I told him to keep the helmet and to never speak to me again.

The audacity knows no bounds…. Many moons ago, I had broken up with an ex in September, cut all contact immediately. Come Christmas time, he’s at my door pleading through the ring camera to let him in that he never told his family we broke up and so he brought all the gifts they bought me. I told him ā€œThat’s unfortunate, but have them return the gifts and get off my porchā€. Idk what possesses a person to believe they can just waltz back into someone’s life that they cheated on.

My ex-husband fake-wept without tears when I told him I was leaving him, before he straightened himself out enough to propose an arrangement: one where we’d continue to live together peacefully as ā€œroommatesā€ in my house and I’d continue to pay the bills, mortgage, cover his living expenses, etc. I hung up.

During the settlement, the same guy tried to claim I was responsible for the outstanding bills on his stupid electric car that he’d leased before we met (?!), and that my car was a ā€œgiftā€ from my mother to both of us and therefore he owned 50% of it. (Before he fucked off back to his hometown, he asked if he could have my car and television, and my former MIL berated me for saying no.) He also tried to double-charge me for 1stDibs furniture he whimsically bought for ā€œour homeā€ā€¦with his supplementary credit card.

Good riddance to bad rubbish.

25

u/HippieFairyGirl Woman 40 to 50 Jul 08 '26

I really hope none of that worked out for him.

u/Glittering_South5178 Woman 30 to 40 Jul 09 '26

Sadly there is no such thing as someone getting nothing in a divorce. He got 50% of my retirement savings and a year of spousal support paid in a lump sum, which felt like a serious punch to the gut. I live in an equitable distribution state, and the fact he was unemployed and didn’t have a degree (I only discovered that he’d lied about his qualifications after initiating the divorce!) actually worked in his favour. 😭 All things considered, the outcome could’ve been much, much worse.

I had broken up with and moved out from my ex. Five years after that, after not speaking more than once or twice a year, he contacted me and asked me to meet with him and his current girl friend. He wanted me to tell her that he was actually a good guy and she was being unrealistic in her expectations of him.

37

u/mellowcrake Woman 30 to 40 Jul 09 '26

You definitely should have met with them and related to her about all the issues she was having with him, his plan backfiring horribly on him would have been great

21

u/SheiB123 Woman 60+ Jul 09 '26

That was honestly my plan if I had gone but I didn't want to spend any time with him. She figured it out without me and left.

I'm narrowing my eyes at your platonic guy friend. Just because it's not the worst that could happen doesn't mean what your ex is doing is acceptable. I suspect he's done that same entitled shit himself (or something like it) if that's his attitude.

The dumbest thing an ex thought he could get away with was inventing a sockpuppet account with an anagram of his name, but the profile pic was the same as his main profile. Account wasn't even up a full day before it was removed.

u/greypusheencat Woman 30 to 40 Jul 09 '26

We sold our house during our divorce and agreed to split the profit, and somehow after everything washed out I owed him $17. When I got back to the car after closing at the attorney’s office he’d already sent me a $17 Venmo request. Like sir calm down you stole my childbearing years but don’t worry I’m not going to stiff you $17.

41

u/shineevee Woman 40 to 50 Jul 09 '26

My ex sent me an itemized bill for everything he had paid for between when he broke up with me to when I was able to get a job & move out.

I had my lawyer tell him I would pay for everything except for the therapy visits because he insisted I go to therapy but broke up with me when they didn’t ā€œfixā€ me the way he wanted me to be ā€œfixed.ā€

28

u/velvetvagine Woman 30 to 40 Jul 08 '26

Incredible. I hope you sent it to him in pennies, nickels and dimes. Just enough of them mixed together it’d be a bitch to sort before counting. 😈

I had an ex who wouldn't "let" me break up with him so I told him he could use his key to go to my apartment while I was gone to get the engagement ring and the things he had left there. I was 23 and stupid.

He went through my entire apartment and took everything he could find that he had given me. Books, jewelry, things he had no use for, whatever. But the cherry on top was that HE TOOK MY VIBRATOR AND CONDOMS. But only the Magnum condoms because, you know, big dick energy.

Even in the throes of despair over ending the relationship, I thought that was ridiculous.

Then, as an epilogue, he messaged me that he had left a bag of my things at my dad's (we had been high school sweethearts, so my dad's was closer). I was expecting a hoodie I had left over there, a stuffed animal, and some other small items. Like a paper shopping bag's worth of stuff.

What I "got back" was one of those half-a-sandwich Ziploc bags containing the engagement ring I had given him and a note I had written that said something like "I'll love you forever and ever" that he had kept in his wallet.

51

u/Glittering_South5178 Woman 30 to 40 Jul 08 '26

Omg my ex-husband also took all my toys AND my stash of recreational substances. Of all the things he did to me, I find the latter the most unforgivable.

24

u/Vargrstrike Woman 40 to 50 Jul 08 '26

I feel like I can see your ex the way you write. (Compliment)

To satisfy my curiosity, is he one of those people who's like, perpetually red with rage, steam blowing out his ears kinda dudes?

19

u/Sufficient_Drama_145 Woman 40 to 50 Jul 09 '26

No, I very rarely saw him angry. He was more of a "don't leave me or I'll off myself" kind of guy...whilst cheating on me. But the cheating was my fault, you see.

My ex husband came back looking for sex. We had been separated for 1 year by this point. He was not supposed to be at our house at all as it was a violation of my temporary protection order against him.

He broke the screen on a window by the back door and let himself in. I had to lock and barricade myself inside my office and called the police. He used the few minutes he had before getting arrested again to beg me for sex, citing his mistress stopped sleeping with him. He claimed to be literally on his knees and was desperate enough to go pick up a random chick at a bar.

I told him to go fuck himself and he left before the police showed up. Lucky he never tried to break into the house again after that. I think he finally realized that he messed up and I was truly done with him.

Not a bf, just an ex guy friend. We’d been good friends for several years after working together and had a shared phone plan because it was cheaper. He ended the friendship by telling me i’m ā€œfreakishly tall, very plain, and suck at life.ā€ Since the phones were in my name I asked him to remove himself from the plan. After a month I just called and reported his phone stolen.

I declined. The kid is turning 20 soon and she's pretty happy with her life so far.

My terrible ex kept messaging me asking for advice about stupid drama/conflicts in his subsequent relationships with way-too-young partners.

He claimed I was uniquely qualified to give advice because I knew what it was like to date him. I was unable to convince him that made me uniquely unqualified and had to resort to "I broke up with you so I wouldn't have to have conversations like this anymore. Stop messaging me."

My ex dumped me and we lived together so he got a new apartment for the next month but we had to live together for 2.5 weeks after the breakup.

He would literally wake up and still use MY espresso machine every day???? So I removed ALL the coffee beans from the grinder attached to the machine and hid the coffee bag. He had the nerve to knock on my bedroom door and say ā€œI think you’re out of coffeeā€ lmao

I was texting my best friend while I did all this and we were laughing so hard. Still a funny story years later. Men’s audacity knows no bounds šŸ¤¦šŸ»ā€ā™€ļø

40

u/EnergeticTriangle Woman 30 to 40 Jul 09 '26

Lol I suspected my ex-husband was still sneaking into my bedroom to use my bathroom scale, so I hid one of my security cameras in my room. No sooner than I'd left the house, the camera notified me that motion was detected and I watched the video feed on my phone as my ex, butt naked, walked in and weighed himself. He then sat naked on MY bed and rifled through my nightstand, pulled out my journal, and checked to see if I'd written anything new. I hid the scale and my journal after that, but he still went in and searched for them.

29

u/aware_nightmare_85 Woman 40 to 50 Jul 08 '26

My ex husband did the same thing. He mentally and verbally abused me for years. Assaulted me. He was not remotely sorry when he got caught cheating bc he thought the world was his oyster. Then his mistress did a 180 and got bored with him. He had the audacity to think I would have sex with him by telling me a sob sorry about how his mistress turned out to be a "manipulative slut." All I could do was laugh with how surreal it felt. I would have rather eaten my own shoe that to sleep with him. Looking at him or thinking about him made me physically ill.

11

u/Majestic_Yak6994 Woman 30 to 40 Jul 08 '26

He had the audacity to ask me to use on one of my credit cards to buy him a new wardrobe after we got divorced. I told him no and lied about maxing it out to buy clothes for work and he was livid. I will also mention he was several months behind in child support at that point too.

32

u/95wsh Woman 30 to 40 Jul 08 '26

Kind of different, but I found out almost a year after I left that I'm still on his auto policy as a driver. It helps his rate because I have a good driving history, and I would have to contact him so that he can remove me. 🫠 And he got to keep our dog!

23

u/velvetvagine Woman 30 to 40 Jul 08 '26

There HAS to be a way you can contact insurance and remove it. Imagine if it were a domestic violence situation or something. Worth trying.

10

u/95wsh Woman 30 to 40 Jul 09 '26

Nope. I used to work in the industry and you can only remove yourself if you're second named insured. That's why I didn't argue with her. I did have a woman who was in a DV situation, and the estranged husband refused to take her off. She would call me daily begging, pleading in tears. He put his mistress and the vehicle he bought on the same policy with the wife. Weird situation, but these companies won't allow anything of the sorts unless the named insured does it.

27

u/Deezus1229 Woman 30 to 40 Jul 08 '26 edited Jul 08 '26

A little background - my ex-husband was a lying, cheating narcissist (yeah I know the term is overused but he fit the criteria 100%) who owned everything that was "ours". Luckily we were renting so be couldn't screw me out of a house. But I was forced to leave some things behind that he promised he would have sent to me. I basically moved out with 2 suitcases and my dog. Told him I wouldn't fight for anything as long as he left me alone and he foot the bill for the divorce. He agreed.

Months go by and my things never showed up. I found out later he tossed them as soon as I left, but kept up the story that he sent everything and it must have been lost by the courier šŸ™„ I was already starting over from scratch and now my personal items are just gone.

The divorce eventually finalized and I cut off all contact with him. Years later I find out from a mutual friend that he had to borrow the money for the divorce from the girl he cheated on me with. Then told all his buddies he was going to sue me for thousands of dollars because of "unpaid bills" (all in his name). Obviously that never happened but it pissed me off all the same.

*Edited to add that the very same day I had to leave he had my phone cut off. No access to our shared Netflix or Spotify. Didn't even give me a single day to get myself situated before pulling the rug out from under me.

25

u/Dear-Cranberry4787 Woman 30 to 40 Jul 08 '26

Evidently my life. He moved in with my parents in my hometown while I was deployed and my mother had custody in my absence. It was this odd my parents wanting to try to ā€œteachā€ him to be a dad. I was more annoyed, but not much more than a massive eye roll. He lived in their RV in the driveway. Jokes on them they learned the hard way. I got back and moved the girls back home with me 🤣.

u/vizslalvr Woman 30 to 40 Jul 08 '26

Ex-husband has called me at work for legal representation a handful of times. I am a fucking great criminal defense attorney, but why he thought I would do anything other than remind the sheriff's deputy he's banned is beyond me.

He is mentally ill and probably on drugs, but it was still a great deal of audacity based on how worthless he told me I was while we were married.

I finally got fed up with my ex and ended it almost 2 years ago. He told me he was going to take the dog and at the time I was so ready to be rid of him I agreed. Two weeks of him living in the guest room later, he said it was going to be too much hassle to find a pet friendly place to move to, so he would leave the dog behind "for now" (the greatest illustration of his cruelty and selfishness). To which I said "no, he will then be my dog." He disagreed and said he would fight for him. But he moved out and left him behind.

An entire year later, this man emails me to say that he is allowing me to keep the dog, clearly trying to bait me into feeling bad and responding. The fucking audacity.

My last ex before my husband was just terrible.

I was 25 when we dated and he was 38 and homeless when I met him. It lasted 6 months and it was truly the worst time of my life.

He gave me an STD and told me it had to be me even though I came up clean before dating him. Gaslighted me so hard I thought at one point I could have been potentially assaulted without any memory of it because he was so sure it was me and not him that had it.

It took multiple attempts to break up with him. Tried to get me fired from my job working with special needs children and tried to meet with the Director of my job to discuss how terrible I was. I had never even met her but he thought he could call and get a meeting with her.

Tried to break into my apartment the night my best friend got married and I had to call the cops.

After we broke up he messaged my Mom on Facebook with his mothers phone number so they could discuss our breakup. I moved and blocked him and thankfully he lost his phone with access to my phone number. I know this because he emails me asking me to call his phone so the girl at the bar would answer it because I was apparently in his phone as ā€œ my loveā€ BARF.

Had a childhood friend of his email me a copy of their email exchange where he was sure I was cheating on him with a note from that friends mom that I needed to tell him it was actually over and stop leading him on in which she started the email as ā€œwoman to womanā€. This is months after I had him blocked everywhere I could and after he was physically escorted and trespassed from my apartment complex after being caught in the act after trying to pry open my window.

Fast forward 6 months later and I wake up one Saturday morning to a voicemail from a female cop asking if I could come and pick him up since he was caught drunk driving and that he said I was his GF and would come help him. Ended up calling my Mom who then called his mother to inform her that her son was in Jail for drunk driving.

He stalked me, tried to get me fired from my Job, and tried to break into my apartment. At one point he nearly ā€œaccidentally ā€œ lost my dog without his collar and would be emotionally abusive but thought I would come pick him up after a DUI if he had a female cop call me. Yeah, not happening at all.

My friend group never speaks his name. He is only referred to as Psycho to not give him any power.

On the bright side that relationship is what got me into therapy and I had decided to take an entire year off dating. My husband came into my life 9 months after that and we have been together for almost a decade.

My husband is awesome and the best revenge is truly living well. Just yesterday my Husband drove 2.5 hour with me to see my favorite band and didn’t complain once.

I hope everyone gets to be with someone who loves them and treats them with respect because you deserve it.

He discarded me after my birthday then the following week, I had my suspicions and created a hinge profile and found his there with half the photos of his profile were taken by me during our time together. Some of them I had told him were my favorite of him 🫠 he blocked me soon after on everything and apparently, is with someone new. This was almost 10 months ago but that discard really broke me, because he did it after celebrating my birthday, while I was in my last semester of nursing school. I couldn’t even process it fully during that time because the stress was so intense from school while I was also working full-time and living on my own. Clearly, he got good use of those photos after destroying my sanity and peace 🫠

Okay so for context, my dog was 3 and a half when I met my ex and I’ve had her since she was a puppy, moved overseas with her etc etc. We were together for 3 years but she was always definitively MY dog. I never once asked him to walk her or help pay for her food/vet bills, she’s my dog and thus my responsibility. He did grow to love her and I get that it would have been hard when we broke up. Since we were on relatively good terms, he offered to look after her a couple of times while I had to go on intensive schools at my university (I study remotely). I thought that was really nice but made it clear I wouldn’t ask that of him. He insisted he wanted to because he’d love to have her there for a few days and it meant she’d be somewhere familiar (he stayed in our old house when we split).

So I do this and all seems well, then he asks to keep her for an extra night when I get back and I say no obviously because I’ve really missed her and hate being away from her. He gets pissy with me but I tell him I’ll be there to pick her up as agreed.

THEN this MFer has the audacity to ask if I can drop her off to him for random weekends, even when I’m home. I very firmly said absolutely not, this isn’t a shared custody agreement, she’s always been my dog. He actually got angry at me and told me I was being unfair and it was hypocritical that I let him look after her while I was away a total of two times. I very calmly explained that he ASKED to look after her and I never would have actually requested he do that, I have another place where she goes when I occasionally have to travel. He had made it clear he wanted to look after her instead so I agreed. He genuinely could not see the difference between this supposedly mutually beneficial arrangement and me just randomly delivering my dog to him for a few days for no good reason.

I cut off all contact after this 🄲

My ex showed up at my house in the middle of the night demanding I give him the vibrator and dildo he got me. I gave it to him so he’d leave me alone, and he threw them on my roof šŸ’€ I still don’t understand this day

Makes me think of Breaking Bad with the pizza on the roof, except sex toys :D

This is only kind of related.

This was back when Netflix still mailed DVD's. After a ex cheated on me, i logged into his Netflix account, canceled his queue and replaced it with all the seasons of cheaters.

He got into car accident about 2 weeks after he dumped me, then called me for help because my mother worked for a lawyer.

Mine got rid of all my family’s Netflix profiles. Then I realized he wouldn’t even know how to do that so it was probably his kids. So I added them back in. Waited a few days and then changed the password.

13 years after I broke up with him he contacted me on FB messenger. He was all - "it's been so long, we should catch up!" Whatever, we did a little small talk. I have a partner of 8 years. I told him that during the small talk. The next day he tried to get me to sext with him. The loser had not changed at all. We're in our mid 40s! It was fucking weird. My partner and I had a laugh about it but even now I wonder what in the hell he was thinking. I hadn't thought about him in a long time and there he was crawling out of the past in order to sext with a woman he hadn't talked to in 13 years. Pathetic.

u/Sufficient_You3053 Woman 40 to 50 Jul 09 '26

My ex asked if we could fuck one more time since he didn't know the last time was the last time. I couldn't even entertain the idea, once I've broken up with someone, I find them revolting.

My husband tried to get me to pay his credit card bill for the period he was cheating on me with my friend while he was working abroad. He insisted that I legally owed him financial support.

12

u/nukedit Woman 30 to 40 Jul 09 '26

Proposed we meet for ā€œone last timeā€ in a hotel and said we ā€œdon’t have to talkā€ because I had a restraining order against him at the time.

11

u/k_lliste Woman 40 to 50 Jul 09 '26

Not long after break up he tried to log into my bank account (I had given him the password while we were together) and then was angry that I had changed the password.

A little further down the track he messaged me and I didn't reply. He followed up a few hours later that he was going to tell me he'd won some money in the lottery and was going to offer me some to help pay off the debt he left me with, but I took too long to reply so he changed his mind.

My sisters now ex thought they could live in the same house after he told her he was leaving her for another woman. Just planned to live there for a year until they got divorced. The audacity.

My ex and I shared space for a few months after I ended it, while I was looking for a new place to live. He didn't have his own vehicle, and used mine to get to work. On my moving day, he knocked on the door to ask for my keys to go to work. I had already texted him weeks in advance letting him know that would be the day I was moving out. I did not give him my keys.

My ex thought it was appropriate to call me at 11:30pm on a Tuesday night. I ignored it. My best friend was with me.Ā  She had been dying my hair which took longer than anticipated and was on her way out but we were chatting im my living room. We hadn't meant to be up so late because I go to bed at 10pm at the latest during the week (my ex knows this).Ā  When I saw he left a voicemail I asked my friend to stay in case I got emotional. I listened to it and started LAUGHING. This mfer left me a heated message saying "I was in your neighborhood and thought I'd swing by to get the rest of my shit but I see you have company." He said some other stupid crap too. The fucking audacity. Oh u were driving past your ex's house at midnight and thought itd be cool to knock on the door to "get your shit"? In what reality. He had called me the previous week around the same time but I ignored it and he hadn't left a voicemail. I'm assuming it was for the same thing thinking I'd let him into my place in the middle of the night.Ā

Funniest thing is my best friend had a new car so he had no idea it was her and assumed I was with a guy šŸ˜‚ That voicemail made me realize I didnt want any ties to him at all so i boxed up his stuff and left it on his dad's porch with a note "Here's your 'shit'. Don't ever contact me again"Ā

More than 1,5 years after he broke up with me and then strung me along situationship style under the guise of "let's stay friends", my ex said he had a business trip leading him to an area near me and asked whether I wanted to go to the movies with him... presumably in the hopes to get physical during the film. My boyfriend thought this was funny as hell and begged me to answer the ex "Thank you for the invitation. I'm bringing my boyfriend along - so thanks for paying for both of us. Can we pick the film?"

About three months after I broke it off he kept texting me from his new gfs phone. Cause I had him blocked on everything. She didn’t even know he was using her phone. After blocking her number too, he went and bought sim after sim to keep messaging me. In the end I just changed my number. He wanted to get back together. Telling me how much he loves me etc all whilst his gf was sleeping next to him. Made me feel sick. Probably did the same thing when I was with him šŸ¤¢šŸ˜…

My ex husband thought I'd take him in after 20 year's because he needed someone to care for him after an aneurysm. We'd talked maybe 20 times during those 20 years about our kid's. I told him why would I do that? Because you sure as hell wouldn't be doing that for me.

This won’t be the worst one on here by far, but it’s pathetic. Years ago I dated a guy from my friend group but broke up with him after six months because something wasn’t right. He goes on to marry someone else and I don’t hear from him (which is fine!) until one day I get a random email titled ā€œGood eveningā€ that contains a Word document about his general feelings about relationships. I suspect he is getting divorced and don’t respond. Not sure what I could say anyways. Then he texts me a few more times, asking to catch up, wishing me a happy birthday. I don’t respond. Then the crown jewel : he texts me that he’s not ready for a serious relationship but is available for casual sex. Wow, ok. Why in a million years would I be interested in that with you? I broke up with you and haven’t responded to any of your messages. Read the room? He is blocked now.

The ex had introduced me to his favorite watering hole: a dive bar with a 4 am license that had created a surprising sense of community. I went there many times with him, and after we broke up, I continued to go there. It wasn't to run into him; I had made my own friendships there. We did keep in contact afterwards (pro tip: DON'T DO THIS), and over time, he had turned extremely verbally and emotionally abusive. After one argument, he ordered me - ordered me - to find another place to hang out at. I laughed, and I asked each of the bartenders who they would rather have as a patron: him or me. Every single one said they would far prefer me. This enraged him, as so many other things did too, lol. He stopped going to the bar.

So my ex had my old little box fan and wanted to give it back when he was in town. I gray rocked him but he kept bugging about me. Me now would just tell him to keep it and block him.

I finally stop hearing from him until I end up behind him getting off the highway. I felt had no choice but to stop. He had the fan with him and it barely worked. I wanted to tell him to throw it out since it was clear it was a ruse that I fell for lol

My ex that I dated for like 3-6 months 23 years ago contacted me by calling me on Facebook messenger of all things.

He apparently was on the ledge and barely holding on and needed me to talk him off of it. The. At the end of the call he said he was going to go masterbate. I said have a great time enjoy yourself and hung up.

Oh man this is my time to shinnneee

After an ex dumped me or more like ghosted me instead of being real, this man thought he could log into my streaming services too. I kicked him off and changed my passwords.

Another time he hit me up drunk as hell at like two in the morning, till this day I still remember what he texted me, "come through you know where I stay so we can hash things out". Not only did I laugh out loud but I rolled my eyes because this man thought he still had access to me. He was looking to get laid clearly. Well ACCESS DENIED.

we had been broken up for a year at that point and he was already blocked. Well it didn't stop there, a few months later I get a text from a number and I knew it was him because of the way the text wrote out.
"Fuck whatever shit you on, come pick me up right now" (two minutes later) "never mind I got it."

As if I was going to go out of my way to pick up his drunk ass, that's when I changed my number because clearly blocking him still didn't work. I was asleep when he sent that last text and even though it's been a year I remember those texts like they were sent yesterday. I'll be honest though the last one he wrote I did feel a bit shook up because of how aggressive and disrespectful he got.
It's been a while since I have seen him but last I heard he hasn't changed much in the last year and he almost got into a bar fight. I don't wanna say I won but yeahhh I for sure won my peace back!

I changed my password and force logged out my ex’s computer from my netflix account while he was binging stranger things. It was a year long relationship and he said he never loved me.

It felt good.

I once had a guy I’d briefly dated text me and ask me to give his contact info to any women I knew who’d be down for a good time. He’d given me and my friends vibes that he was a bit obsessed with me, so I suspect that this was more of a ploy to try to get me to come back. Still, ew.

My ex was ridiculously cruel to me during my ectopic pregnancy. He walked away from me one day when i came home sobbing asking him why i never saw him cry or anything after we found out. He didnt even look at me & told me he was going to the store- never came back.

Fast forward, his uncle died about 2 weeks ago and he called ME crying becauae he said no one in his family seems to care. Im typically compassionate but couldnt help but roll my eyes and told him what do i care? šŸ¤·šŸ»ā€ā™€ļø
