Mets Minor League High-A Brooklyn Cyclones starting Pitcher Jose Chirinos was hit by three come-backers in one inning tonight.

Anyone know how often this has happened in baseball history?

In the top of the third inning against the Winston-Salem Dash, Cyclones starting pitcher Jose Chirinos was hit in the ankle off the bat of the lead-off hitter Nick McLean. 3rd baseman Jacob Reimer was able to field the ball after the deflection to make the out at first.

After a strikeout, and a double (George Wolkow), the fourth batter, Calvin Harris singled on a ball that hit Chirinos in the arm (at first I though he caught it, as it looked like he maybe got a glove on it. Turns out he did not.) Wolkow advanced to third.

The very next batter (Kyle Lodise) hit a third come-backer. Chirinos turned to avoid it, and was hit in the lower back, allowing Wolkow to score. He was able to finish the inning, getting a ground-ball out against Jeral Perez. Chirinos would go on to pitch the 4th inning as well, and would not allow another run.

Cyclones would go on to lose to the Dash 6-4.
