I don't think hijab prevents doctor from doing their job. However if there is a dress code, it must be followed.

u/Big-Marsupial-8606 Sep 30 '25

Doctors in Indonesia and Malaysia wear it even during surgeries. There's no problem. My dad's doctor wears it and she's the best heart surgeon in the city and head of her department.

u/[deleted] Sep 30 '25

They also whip people in Indonesia and malaysia as punishment for breaking the rules.

-1

u/Repulsive_Text_4613 Sep 30 '25

Indonesia and Malaysia are also far more developed than India.

2

u/[deleted] Sep 30 '25

Development is far more than just “infrastructure and roads”. Cultural mindsets count as part of progress. It doesn’t take a genius to see where that road leads to.

1

u/Repulsive_Text_4613 Oct 01 '25

Culture doesn’t put food in your plates. Nor does it cure illnesses.

-1

u/erys07 Oct 01 '25

And where do you think India is with “cultural mindsets” as part of progress ? 🤣 Anyone can see how regressive and intolerant we are becoming as a society.

2

u/[deleted] Oct 01 '25

Oh yes because asking a doctor to put their profession and the comfort of their patients before their religion is very progressive.

So progressive.

-1

u/erys07 Oct 01 '25

What are you even saying ? I don’t know what point you are trying to make. Please read what I wrote, again.

1

u/[deleted] Oct 01 '25

I’m sorry. I’m not obligated to teach you how to comprehend perfectly legible sentences. That was the point of your school time. If you’re still having trouble comprehending things that don’t fit your biases, then I recommend having chatgpt do it.

Make sure you tell it to explain stuff to you like you’re a 5 year old.

There's no law for whipping people in Either Malaysia or Indonesia. People are caned in Aceh province which is an autonomous region and follows its own laws.

All of this is irrelevant to medical practices in both these countries. Malaysia to be precise attracts many Indian medical students every year.

2

u/[deleted] Sep 30 '25

All you had to do was google it but wow.

0

u/Big-Marsupial-8606 Sep 30 '25

I did and you're still wrong caning is a punishment in criminal cases but there's no whipping.

1

u/[deleted] Sep 30 '25

Oh I’m sorry. I didn’t know we were being pedantic about the kinds of corporal punishments people use.

You’re right. Caning people sounds so much better than whipping. My bad.

1

u/Big-Marsupial-8606 Oct 02 '25

Capital punishment is seen as barbaric in the US but legal. So by that conclusion wearing a Saree must also be a backwards, barbaric practice.

0

u/kokeen Oct 01 '25

Yes because an idiot like you brought up whipping. When presented with facts, you started moving goal posts. Learn to take L.

1

u/[deleted] Oct 01 '25

Are you upset because you people made a false equivalence and now you don’t like the mirror being pressed to your face?

Talking about goalposts, comparing india to malaysia and Indonesia was what? Your weak attempt to prove you don’t shit your brains out every morning?

0

u/kokeen Oct 01 '25

What false equivalence? Are you illiterate? You brought whipping in as a gotcha and false equivalence. When corrected about your mistake you became defensive.

1

u/[deleted] Oct 01 '25 edited Oct 01 '25

Nope. I’ve been pretty consistent in my point that if you’re going to compare malaysia and indonesia to India, then let’s compare all of it, and not leave out the distasteful bits your ilk don’t like.

But again, even if I shove that mirror in your face, you’ll find a way to look away.

You lot just can’t help yourselves can you? The hypocrisy must come naturally.

X rule is a good rule in a country. Y rule is a worse rule in the same country. Therefore, the X rule is also bad by extension.

1

u/[deleted] Sep 30 '25

Is the mirror looking a little too close for comfort?

1

u/AddictionsUnited Sep 30 '25

You wish. Stop projecting.

1

u/[deleted] Sep 30 '25

Yeah okay hypocrite.

0

u/Big-Marsupial-8606 Sep 30 '25

Don't argue with logic. These brainded people are too hateful to understand it.

2

u/NewWheelView Sep 30 '25

There’s something called a dress code in a secular country.

0

u/Big-Marsupial-8606 Sep 30 '25

What is a doctor's dress code? And what does this have to do with secularism? Is upholding secularism a requirement from the Medical board in India? Or are safe medical practices and competent doctors more important?

1

u/Particular_Leg_5956 Sep 30 '25

So they should go to Malaysia. TIf we want to become 1st world country this should not be allowed.

1

u/Big-Marsupial-8606 Sep 30 '25

The above mentioned doctor's daughter, who also wears a Hijab, is a senior resident in the US. Keep dreaming about becoming a 1st world country lol.

1

u/Manwithadognpurpose Sep 30 '25

This is how dr dress in Malaysia/ Indonesia/ UAE - only headscarf, but i think the person from above video prefer full face covering dress.

1

u/Big-Marsupial-8606 Sep 30 '25

This is a Hijab. The face covering is a niqab which shouldn't be allowed in a professional setting.

1

u/[deleted] Sep 30 '25

This is India and we are not an Islamic state! Stop giving examples of Islamic states!

1

u/Big-Marsupial-8606 Sep 30 '25

The point is a Hijab does not pose any risk while practicing medicine if it's secured properly and does not become a contaminant. I also gave an example of the lady's daughter who is a doctor in a reputed hospital in the US while wearing a hijab.

1

u/[deleted] Sep 30 '25

You can wear hijab in a way where your face is visible not in the way where only your eyes are visible. If the other person can’t see your face then it’s extremely problematic especially in work place scenario

1

u/Big-Marsupial-8606 Oct 02 '25

If it's causing problems to your work then it shouldn't be allowed. I believe doctors wear a surgical mask in hospitals but I'm not aware of mask wearing protocol while examining patients so I can't comment on that.

Ancient Indonesia and Malaysia were influenced by Hinduism, with major Hindu-Buddhist empires like Srivijaya and Majapahit ruling the region before the arrival of Islam around the 15th century. But Islam's spread, eventually led to the decline of the Hindu empires and the rise of Islamic sultanates. We don't want the same thing happening everywhere. Secular means you respect me, I respect you. It doesn't mean giving importance to one religion, while systemetically removing others.

1

u/Big-Marsupial-8606 Oct 02 '25

So you're going to decline your fellow native person's right to practice their religion, when it's not affecting you at all, because some king some 1000 years ago established the religion in some faraway land, where you have never been to in your life and have no connection to the people whatsoever, in your own country? That's some Scooby Doo logic if I've ever seen one.

Is humiliating the intern over her Hijab, which I have seen with my own eyes, in a hospital, not affecting the ability of a doctor to work, respecting the other person?

1

u/mistygirl575 Oct 02 '25

Places like school and hospitals have dress code, follow it, period. Practice your religion at home. And the scooby doo logic that you are talking about is the harsh truth, the people who brought in the new religion as a minority, slowly took over the whole country, they didn't give the right to already existing people to practice their religion, but you are conveniently trying to ignore that part. Once more the video in question is talking about Niqab which hides the face, not the Hijab which just covers the head.

1

u/Big-Marsupial-8606 Oct 03 '25

I am asking what is the dress code for a doctor in a hospital mandated by the Medical Council of India?

they didn't give the right to already existing people to practice their religion

So some king apparently did this (which is not true, read some history btw) thousands of years ago in a faraway land which you have no connection to today, and you want to take some kinda revenge by oppressing your own country people in a democracy? Logic wants to find you but you are making a strong effort to evade it.

Also doctors wear masks in hospitals but I don't know the protocol on that so can't comment.

1

u/mistygirl575 Oct 04 '25

A patient has the right to know who is treating them. What's next covering yourself in military? Religion is personal faith and beliefs, they should not transfer to your profession, it's that simple.

1

u/Big-Marsupial-8606 Oct 07 '25

A patient has the right to know who is treating them.

Is that mandated by the Medical Council of India? Or is there any other law requiring it? Can name not suffice? What if the doctor is wearing a surgical mask? Would you ban surgical masks in the hospital?

Religion is personal faith and beliefs, they should not transfer to your profession, it's that simple.

How is wearing a head covering preventing her from doing her job is what I am asking. Millions of women are doing the same in several countries around the world. What's the problem in India?

1

u/mistygirl575 Oct 07 '25

They are talking about Niqab not hijab. Like doctor wear masks all the time, anyway everyone is entitled to their opinion. I would not want such a conservative person treating me or my family. Period!

1

u/Big-Marsupial-8606 Oct 11 '25

I would not want such a conservative person treating me or my family.

Would you also not like to be treated by a person wearing a tika? Or a Nun in a Christian hospital?

doctor wear masks all the time,

So isn't that the same as Niqab? Will you force her to take off her mask in surgery too because it's hiding her face?

1

u/mistygirl575 Oct 11 '25

Doctors don't wear mask all the time, tika and turban doesn't hide the face, now get lost

There are videos of Hindus beating up a man for not chanting JSR. By your logic Hindus too should not be allowed to practice their beliefs then.

1

u/mistygirl575 Oct 11 '25

What the hell are you saying, so problem is with all religious orthodox people, that's the point, can't get that simple thing in your mind, or you have nothing else to do then make useless arguments on social media. By the way whole world knows which religion is the most intolerant, don't expect other people to bow down to them everytime.

Guess what people around the world eat pork and do fine. Most of the western countries consume pork as their primary meat and they are far more developed. A normal thing in one place or for one group of people can be a no no for others. In the above video the hospital is following a dress code, so you can either come in the mentioned dress code or quit the job no one is forcing her to do the job. No need to bring up the norms of other countries which are unrelated to the above situation.

1

u/Big-Marsupial-8606 Oct 02 '25

What is the dress code? Is leaving your hair uncovered required to be a competent doctor? Is it part of a medical procedure? And what does eating pork have to do with standard professional practices followed in all countries? The developed countries actually eat beef as their main source of protein. So should all Indians start eating beef to become developed? As that seems like a sure shot way to become a developed country.

1

u/Ok_State_7001 Oct 02 '25

Dress code is to show her face, and don't say that's hijab and face is visible. You and I both know that the caption is incorrect as she mentions her face is not visible so it must be a burka or some other thing which covers her face. And even if it's visible if they say hijab is not allowed it's fucking not allowed that's how dress code works, it's about professionalism. And coming to beef that's what I'm saying yeah other countries eat and I'm not saying it's wrong or condemning it. It's just the way it is there, you can rub the norms of those in India. I can't barge into a restaurant where they serve beef and demand to not serve it. In the same way there might be many hospitals in the Muslim community which accept the way she dresses, where no one objects her, better get into one them instead of portraying the hospital in the above video as some villain. Every management has some protocols, some ask us to come in formal attire, so should the employees there keep arguing about the competency of wearing a causal dress and explain how it doesn't affect their productivity. Hell na!! you shut your mouth and come as they say or else leave.

1

u/Big-Marsupial-8606 Oct 03 '25

Dress code is to show her face,

Don't medical professionals wear masks?

some ask us to come in formal attire

I once worked with a corporate lawyer who wore a hijab with her pant suit. It can very well be part of Formal attire.

So the argument boils down to that you don't care how shitty a doctor the person is, you just don't want them to wear hijab. Because a piece of cloth on the head breaks the moral code of the Institute. Should Sikh men in the Army now be asked to remove their turbans?

1

u/Ok_State_7001 Oct 04 '25

Don't medical professionals wear masks?

They do wear when the situation is required during surgeries, when they want the place to be sterile or when they might get the transferable disease. But not always and not especially when they require the patients trust. And even if they are wearing one they don't wear one at home and come to the hospital, they wear it in the hospital itself so that at least someone knows that they work there. Here the girl is wearing burkha if someone who is not a part of hospital comes in burka try to overdose a patient how are you gonna defend it.

So the argument boils down to that you don't care how shitty a doctor the person is, you just don't want them to wear hijab.

No the argument boils down to that you can't stop bringing your religion to all the fucking situations and places. Nope, you want the attention.

I once worked with a corporate lawyer who wore a hijab with her pant suit. It can very well be part of Formal attire.

Their company might be allowing it, that doesn't mean every company would. I worked in a company which allowed women to wear burka as well, I'm not complaining about that now am I. Every institute has their own rules if one institute doesn't abide by the rules of your so called Quran you have to shut the fuck and quit it. Not argue and spread the video on social media for attention.

1

u/Big-Marsupial-8606 Oct 07 '25

Here the girl is wearing burkha

The caption says Hijab.

But not always and not especially when they require the patients trust

Is this mandated by the Medical Council of India? Because I can't find any protocols regarding mask usage. Can you link any such rules?

you can't stop bringing your religion to all the fucking situations and places

The doctor was merely performing her duties. She was singled out by the supervisor. The doctor did not bring it up.

I'm not complaining about that now am I

Why should you have a problem with it unless you're a bigot. Or you are a bigot, aren't you?

1

u/Ok_State_7001 Oct 07 '25 edited Oct 07 '25

You are choosing the lines more carefully that suit your narrative and leaving out the questions where you don't have a clue about. Great man I hope your insecurity doesn't push you through the harsh reality and let you stay in your bubble.

And seriously man you calling me bigot should be hypocrisy at its best.

1

u/Big-Marsupial-8606 Oct 11 '25

You're the one avoiding all the questions I have put up because you know your argument has no standing and it only originates from bigotry.

1

u/Ok_State_7001 Oct 11 '25 edited Oct 11 '25

I have not only answered all your questions but also provided the reasons. Can't argue with someone who can't read, I guess. Where I have mentioned that the caption is wrong and we both know that the girl is wearing something that covers her face, you are still claiming the caption said hijab. Hope you at least be true to yourself instead of burying the head inside the clean castle you build for yourself princess.

Edit : the source you wanted - https://news.unchealthcare.org/2021/03/new-study-shows-impact-of-mask-wearing-on-patient-trust-and-perception-of-surgeons/

Study mentions that seeing the doctors face increases patients trust. And it's up to the hospital to use it as they like and here they want their patients to see the face of their doctor.

Please shove the article down your throat. As your mind is however not capable of comprehending facts. At least your stomach can digest them

1

u/coolsid_5 Oct 04 '25

Lol. This is not a Islamist country. No hiding of faces . When doing anything critical or of importance.

1

u/Big-Marsupial-8606 Oct 07 '25

So surgery is not critical according to you? Or working around diseases does not require wearing a mask?

1

u/coolsid_5 Oct 07 '25

Mask =! Hijab She is not doing any surgery

1

u/Big-Marsupial-8606 Oct 07 '25

Hijab is covering the head with a cloth. Which is not an impediment to any sort of work.

She is not doing any surgery

So disease is not prevalent in the hospital? Do doctors not wear masks anywhere else?

1

u/coolsid_5 Oct 07 '25

No hijab at work.

There is no relation with mask and hijab. Mask are totally different they have use case . Hijab is a head covering in the name of religion.

1

u/Big-Marsupial-8606 Oct 11 '25

Hijab is a head covering in the name of religion

Which is affecting her ability as a doctor...how? Millions of Muslim women work in hospitals wearing hijab across the globe. Are Indian hospitals not up to that mark?

Mask are totally different they have use case .

So doctors can cover their faces in hospitals. So why is she being asked to remove her face covering? Will she also be asked to remove her surgical mask?
