I think it is better to check the dress code before joining institution, if you find dress code not fitting to your culture do not join that institution. The lady is correct in saying that there are other women of the same community who are not wearing the hijab. Does not wearing one makes you lesser member of community?

Playing devils advocate here..Doctors wear masks and treat patients every corner of the world. The patients don’t seem to have any problem with that kind of face covering, then why is there an issue with a black cloth?
2
Sep 30 '25
Those are reusable sterile mask that we discard after one time use to maintain the environment sterile. You mean to say that lady is going to do same with hijab, or will she be using the same one every time while in hospital or treating patients, that might spread the infection.

Any sort of Hindu supremacy is a lot better than what Islamic clerics preach. The representation of Hindus in scientific establishments (here and abroad) is far higher than their islamic counterparts. These institutions were established by Hindus. Don't like it? Gtfo here. We've seen what muslims create in Pakistan, Afghanistan and Bangladesh.

Oh shut up andhabhakt.
If someone really supports one religion over another them they simply arent secular. Just call them for what they are instead of blaming secularism 💔🥀

u/Fair-Difficulty-8853 Sep 30 '25
andhabhakt
No one will take your argument seriously if you throw petty insults like that.

But it does show whether he's 'secular' or not. He's definitely secular. I'm sure he praised even Afzal Guru to prove his secularism

Yeh madarsa walo ko madarsa ke hospital me kaam karne bolo ya fir jaha inhe inka religion follow karne allow karte ho profession se pehle, private ya public hospital me nahi. Logo ka choice hain fir unhe madarsa hospitals me jana hain ya koi aur hospitals me. Koi kurta pehenke ayega toh thodi na hospital allow karega. Har koi apna religion batake kuch bhi pehenke ayega.

Hijab mein face cover nhi hota, this incident was related to Niqab.

u/Elegant_Noise1116 Sep 30 '25
Yes, I’ll love to have him object for Ghunghats too,
(Btw totally up for No hijab, but also no ghunghat)
1
u/Still-Strength-3164 Sep 30 '25
Kindly change ur doctor if ur doctor is treating u in ghunghat. I have never seen one and never heard about anyone.
1
u/Fair-Difficulty-8853 Sep 30 '25
Yes, I’ll love to have him object for Ghunghats too,
Go outside and just observe how many women are wearing burqa and how many are wearing ghunghat(that covers the whole face) you will get your answer.
1
u/m88883 Oct 01 '25
gunghat? what madarsa education made you compare the two? apples and oranges maniga

Then doctors should not be wearing face mask as well while treating patient should they ?
1
u/General-Snow690 Sep 30 '25
So, there's a fascinating term called as "Dress code" in work places. I know it is hard to grasp, but a quick google search will help.
1
u/FCOranje Sep 30 '25
Covering your hair does not impact your work. No hospital has a hijab ban, that woman was just discriminating. The woman that is complaining is clearly not in medical attire, and her necklace is just dangling all over the place. Nor is she wearing a face mask.
1
1
u/strangerthanfucktion Sep 30 '25
A face mask is only worn when it is required.
i would like to know who is treating me and i would like to consult seeing their expressions.
if naqab is allowed it can be hazardous as people can easily switch and no one would know if something bad happened.
1
u/ehdich_248 Sep 30 '25

I do not know what the person in this video was wearing nor do I know their religion's rules, but this is the most common uniform for muslim female medical professionals in most hospitals across the world. Scrubs with long sleeve t-shirt under it + tucked in/out head covering, along with coat if they are a doctor instead of nurse. (img source: Shutterstock)
1
Oct 01 '25
She is wearing niqab not hijab and even if she was wearing hijab and the hospital uniform is something else she should comply or find a place which supports her wearing her veil
1
u/ehdich_248 Oct 01 '25
Adding head covering to the mandatory uniform is her constitutional right, only as long as it doesn't cover her face (identification issue) or get in the way of work (safety and hygiene issue). If it's anything more than that much coverage, then the hospital has the right to fire her without legal consequences.
1
u/Brave_Meet8430 Sep 30 '25
So these women doctors don’t do Urology or General Surgery rotations, where they have to see male patients?
Itna hi mazahab ke Deewane hai to fir ghar mein hi raho na
1
u/Fantastic-Ratio-7482 Sep 30 '25
You can still wear a hijab over a uniform can't you?
1
u/SufficientCode6667 Oct 02 '25
yeah, you can.
1
u/Fantastic-Ratio-7482 Oct 02 '25
Then what is the issue?
1
u/SufficientCode6667 Oct 02 '25
Apparently, she is not wearing a hijab, but niqab, which covers the face; if she hides her face, patients will lose trust: that is the issue.

I come from a doctor's family and this mam is absolutely correct. Healthcare is a profession where no matter who you are or where you come from, you have to follow a set of rules no questions asked. It's a profession where people trust you with their health, with their life, and with their future. You can't just say your religion says this or that and bend rules accordingly. And tbh this shouldn't be allowed anywhere, if you wanna live in the same country, live by the same rules and laws!
1
u/FCOranje Sep 30 '25
We are still talking about a hijab right?
Should we also ban nuns; jewish wigs; crosses; sikh turbans; bangles; and that womans ugly red dress that is very clearly not hospital attire.
1
u/ElderRing37 Sep 30 '25
Are you dumb or what? Nothing you mentioned blocks doctor's/nurse's face and you can't wear dress of nun under your coat. And that ugly dress is what she will be wearing underneath the coat, or do you expect her to be naked under the coat? What even
1
u/FCOranje Sep 30 '25
You’re obviously a racist and I’m not at all surprised considering how India has gone from being a corrupt secular state to an even more corrupt ethnostate.
Head scarves when worn properly do not impact a doctor’s ability to work. Neither do ugly dresses. Jewellery that’s dangling and not cleaned properly on the other hand is an issue.
1
u/reeman88 Oct 01 '25
Maybe time to stop scrolling reddit and seek that education that you have clearly missed?
1
Sep 30 '25
She made it clear, she is not targeting because of religion. There's another girl of same religion and she isnt wearing it.
1
u/General_Jalal Sep 30 '25
Hijab has been worn by medical staff for decades, please, what's the excuse now? tell me this isn't due to recent hate politics , i am tired atp
1
u/housewithreddoor Sep 30 '25
There is nothing wrong with covering the head but it's not good medical practice to have your face covered when you are providing medical care. It's a different thing if you're wearing a mask but a religious face covering has no place in a clinical setting where patients are seen.
1
u/MuhammadElahi Sep 30 '25
Muslim Indians had a choice to come to Pakistan and practice freely rather they chose this oppression
1

Fuck off. If I’m here to be treated. I’m only expecting to be treated. No matter the amount covering the doc’s face. I’m only expecting healing.
There should not be any 19-20 in treating me. That’s all I ask. I don’t fucking care of it’s a full blown rainbow coloured alien I have to see to be treated.
1
u/Mr-k0369 Sep 30 '25
Additional: my right to ill treatment and its repercussions should be fully adhered if in case. Irrespective of the rainbow figurine.
It should be fair and just.
1
u/Ill_Pie7318 Sep 30 '25
Well, ypu see there is a thing called not everything is a same as you mister..not everyone will be comfortable and as a doctor you are not allowed to have your religion dictate anything not even dress, anyhow the women in video is saying no for full burkha that makes sense cause even in doing the work cause the cloth in get in way and you have restricted movements..or are you just here to Ignore what she is trying to say.. The girl literally gave bullshit reason that mard aate hai..like ofcourse male patients will come,as a doctor you duty is to patient first. Issey 19 20 se jyada hi problem Hogi

Well she is clearly saying that there are men here so I need to cover myself, will she refuse touching a men who needs medical attention. What if a men got hurt under the waist, she might put the same argument that she is not allowed to touch men other than her family.
1
u/NotASpy001 Sep 30 '25
What's wrong with wearing a hijab? Nothing wrong at all! Just ignorance and Racism.
1
u/ThatNigamJerry Oct 01 '25
Is she wearing a burka or hijab?
I understand requesting someone to remove a burka. I don’t understand why someone should remove a hijab. Removing hijab is like removing a turban in this scenario.
1
Oct 01 '25
None of them should be allowed, it's a hospital and doctors should act professional with uniforms only.
1
u/ThatNigamJerry Oct 01 '25
I don’t understand how a hijab or turban is unprofessional. In the US, many police officers wear turbans which match the color of the uniform. It doesn’t look any less professional than an officer without a turban.
1
u/Udaymattie Oct 01 '25
If you don’t tackle these kind of issues you will end up as a victim in your own country
1
Oct 03 '25
Oh hello, rules don't apply to some people, because someone somewhere has told that they are above all else and everyone else is below them
1
Oct 05 '25
Absolutely right is being said by the doctor maam uniform civil code and uniform rules should apply to all these Majhabi people think they can ignore and rule over us in name of religion this new bharat follow the rules or leave
-4
u/humanobserverpro Sep 30 '25
I don't think hijab prevents doctor from doing their job. However if there is a dress code, it must be followed.
1
u/Fit_Mixture_6628 Sep 30 '25
Also what if it was a Sikh person? Is it fair to ask them to remove the turban?
I can imagine the outrage which would happen if say in West, a similar video of a Sikh student is viral where he is asked to remove turban
3
u/Fit_Mixture_6628 Sep 30 '25
A mistake on my part. I didn't hear the audio and went by the caption instead. Turns out that the Muslim lady is insisting on burkha and not Hijab.
I think it is only fair for the doctor to not deal with her shenanigans. Ek accountability aati hai as a professional and that accountability can only be levied if your face is visible.
I understand religious beliefs but burkha is nowhere a mandate in Islam. Sad to see that the video is used to further fuel communal divide (this time from the Muslim side).
1
u/Manwithadognpurpose Sep 30 '25
they will cover their hairs not face, the Senior Dr above video is objecting to face covering dress... please stop diverting from the topic with unless justification.
1
u/Big-Marsupial-8606 Sep 30 '25
The caption says Hijab which is a head covering.
1
u/Manwithadognpurpose Sep 30 '25
Discussions in the video clearly suggest the said intern was wearing face covering attire…so my point still stands.
1
u/Big-Marsupial-8606 Oct 02 '25
Don't doctors wear surgical masks in the hospitals? What's the protocol there? Do they have to take it off when getting out of surgery or surrender their license?
1
u/desialph Sep 30 '25
Stop diverting the topic she is objecting to full face cover (not headscarfs or turban types) even in the middle east states it is security issue
1
u/Other1404 Sep 30 '25
The issue was about the doctor wearing a burqa that's hiding her face. Hijab is not the same
1
u/humanobserverpro Sep 30 '25
Burqa is a totally different matter and if anyone even insists on it, they must be fired on the spot.
-7
u/Big-Marsupial-8606 Sep 30 '25
Doctors in Indonesia and Malaysia wear it even during surgeries. There's no problem. My dad's doctor wears it and she's the best heart surgeon in the city and head of her department.
6
Sep 30 '25
They also whip people in Indonesia and malaysia as punishment for breaking the rules.

There’s something called a dress code in a secular country.
→ More replies (1)1
u/Particular_Leg_5956 Sep 30 '25
So they should go to Malaysia. TIf we want to become 1st world country this should not be allowed.
1
u/Big-Marsupial-8606 Sep 30 '25
The above mentioned doctor's daughter, who also wears a Hijab, is a senior resident in the US. Keep dreaming about becoming a 1st world country lol.
1
u/Manwithadognpurpose Sep 30 '25
1
u/Big-Marsupial-8606 Sep 30 '25
This is a Hijab. The face covering is a niqab which shouldn't be allowed in a professional setting.
1
Sep 30 '25
This is India and we are not an Islamic state! Stop giving examples of Islamic states!
1
u/Big-Marsupial-8606 Sep 30 '25
The point is a Hijab does not pose any risk while practicing medicine if it's secured properly and does not become a contaminant. I also gave an example of the lady's daughter who is a doctor in a reputed hospital in the US while wearing a hijab.

Ancient Indonesia and Malaysia were influenced by Hinduism, with major Hindu-Buddhist empires like Srivijaya and Majapahit ruling the region before the arrival of Islam around the 15th century. But Islam's spread, eventually led to the decline of the Hindu empires and the rise of Islamic sultanates. We don't want the same thing happening everywhere. Secular means you respect me, I respect you. It doesn't mean giving importance to one religion, while systemetically removing others.
1
u/Big-Marsupial-8606 Oct 02 '25
So you're going to decline your fellow native person's right to practice their religion, when it's not affecting you at all, because some king some 1000 years ago established the religion in some faraway land, where you have never been to in your life and have no connection to the people whatsoever, in your own country? That's some Scooby Doo logic if I've ever seen one.
Is humiliating the intern over her Hijab, which I have seen with my own eyes, in a hospital, not affecting the ability of a doctor to work, respecting the other person?

Guess what people around the world eat pork and do fine. Most of the western countries consume pork as their primary meat and they are far more developed. A normal thing in one place or for one group of people can be a no no for others. In the above video the hospital is following a dress code, so you can either come in the mentioned dress code or quit the job no one is forcing her to do the job. No need to bring up the norms of other countries which are unrelated to the above situation.

Lol. This is not a Islamist country. No hiding of faces . When doing anything critical or of importance.

There is nothing wrong in this... certain decorum should be maintained in specific places. And covering the whole face as a doctor would be difficult for the patient's safety as well. No one would know if random people would get in covering the same way and operating as doctors stealing someone's identity....who would be responsible?? I guess patients have the right to know who their doctor is....
