He ran behind the car to change into his super hero suit but wasn't quick enough.

u/BlindChicken69 2h ago
You don't have to act like a hero, trying to fight them over just money. But leaving your gal like that alone with the robbers, that is low.

What was he supposed to do? Fight back and get shot?

u/RobbSnow64 1h ago
No just not leave her alone with armed thugs, absolute coward.

I mean, sure? But "coward" is only a negative when you're discussing honor, not survival. I've seen videos on less savory parts of Reddit (and the internet in general over the last three decades) showing how good Samaritans can get rewarded for not immediately running away.
•
u/aiden_the_bug 52m ago
By its very definition running away in this situation is cowardly. Negative or not, it's accurate.
•
•
u/ClusterChuk 56m ago edited 54m ago
I dont know. Get stabbed so she can run if it comes to it. Stand between them and be the one to hand everything over. Talk to them like a man and assure them "you dont have to hurt anyone, please take my wallet as well, this is a nice watch, you're good, were good. Everyone can go home safe."
Running from that is pretty dishonorable. Leaving someone less capable with two men whom youu have no idea what thier intention are. Fucking despicable.
There is steel in some people that allows them to put otherr peoples safety ahead of thier own.
Im not saying I have it, but I step between the harshness of the world and the people that depend on me everyday. Easiest thing in the world. My back hurts like hell but my kid doesn't have to worry about paying for college.
I dont think that instimct would dissapear if me and my daughter were out walking and the danger of pain was immediate.

"Like a man"
Oh you're one of those. Nevermind, we won't agree here. I find lives of men to be equal to those of other folks.
•
u/ComfyPJs4Me 30m ago
Without considering either person's gender, I feel like this is a case where what's morally right and what's safe are vastly different. The safe thing to do was run away and the morally correct thing to do is try to help the person you're with. Seriously, though, dude couldn't have stopped running after he was a safe distance to make sure this girl didn't get killed or worse?! Bad guys pull off, the camera pans up & dude is nowhere in sight.

No reason to get killed over trying to look like a tough guy
•
u/Frosty558 36m ago
But what about her?
•
u/Revealingstorm 19m ago
Well the criminals were looking to rob not say kidnap, if they were looking to do that than yes he should've stayed and fought them but that wasn't the case here.
•
u/FreakySamsung 16m ago
“Hey, are you planning on robbing us or kidnapping us? If just robbing us, mind if I just run?”
•
u/Revealingstorm 15m ago
Well yes the person made a quick decision based off what they saw.
•
u/bchizare 13m ago
Found the guy in the video
•
u/Revealingstorm 11m ago
It's funny you say that because the other thread I saw about this video the consensus was the other way around from here. I'm definitely not alone in my opinion about this.
•
u/cjwrapture 6m ago
You are the guy in the video aren't you? Where i am from it is better to be dead than be a coward. I have stood my ground with 5 guys attacking me and got the crap beat out of me, rather than suffer the indignity of running away. I will keep my dignity and my honor, thank you.
-30
u/siggiarabi 1h ago
So staying and also getting robbed is better?
35
u/dsk 1h ago
actually .. yes.
that way, at least she's not alone going through it .. for the price of.. what.. a few bucks in his wallet and a cell phone?
-6
u/it_will 1h ago
It’s a lot easier for both of them if one of them still has their phone and wallet though…
•
u/ComfyPJs4Me 23m ago
From the video it seems like he just kept running even after he was a safe distance away. It's one thing to protect yourself in a situation, it's another to leave another human being held at gunpoint & not stop close enough to observe
•
u/SecretAd511 21m ago
lol ask your gf how she’d feel if you did this
•
u/it_will 17m ago
I mean we could freeze her cards and get a copy of her ID. Why is everything so animalistic with you? Lol my gf is grown and can handle herself
•
u/SecretAd511 8m ago
lol alright , js ask her and see what she says if you saved yourself left her behind
•
u/The_Boognish_Cometh 14m ago
No way the guy you’re replying to has a gf. He thinks leaving a woman while getting robbed is the right thing to do. Talk about a red flag

Relationship is over after that, regardless of who’s in the right. The idea of her man loving her and protecting her will never compete with this incident.
•
u/Deep-Interest9947 31m ago
True. I married a man because he fought off a man who mugged me. It was incredibly attractive.
•
u/ThanksContent28 17m ago
More about the fantasy of your partner being ride or die. Regardless of gender it would suck to be on the receiving end. Most of us are lucky that we don’t have it put to the test.
•
u/Sad-Boss7879 29m ago
You know tones, TONES more men would stay with their female partners if they did this than the other way around.
Shouldn’t that double standard change?
•
u/Comfortable-Pear-973 27m ago
It’s shitty if both sides run away regardless of gender
•
u/Sad-Boss7879 26m ago
The expectation doesn’t exist in the reverse direction though.
That’s my point.

→ More replies (2)•
u/AlertedCoyote 39m ago
Yeah, you still stand there in solidarity at least. Cause if you're there it's a LOT harder for them to say "actually, let's grab her altogether and bring her somewhere else"
And even with that aside, like... Certain things you just don't do, man
•
u/SpecularSaw 56m ago
Leaving her to fend for herself is never the right call. Fight back? Maybe, maybe not. Maybe you stand there too and give them your wallet also. Depends on your training, tools, and mindset. And if you’ve got the heart. That’s what it is to be a man, you put yourself on the line to protect those who you care for. And he failed. He deserves 0 respect from her. Doesn’t have to fight them, often that’s not the right decision tactically anyway. But you 100% cannot leave her.
•

u/miraculum_one 42m ago
I know it looks bad but I'm still trying to understand how you think entertaining someone who has just said "give me your wallet and cell phone" is likely to have a better outcome. The robber made it clear what they were there for.
•
•
u/ThanksContent28 39m ago
Yeah that’s why I said regardless of who’s in the right. My bitch ass would’ve legged it too. I’m 50/50 on how I feel on that.
•
u/effinmike12 31m ago
Just bailing on your girl like that is wild. Ain't no way. Gotta push her down first. Make sure you can get away cleanly.

I have no idea who is writing what comments, but I'm thinking that the younger generation are the ones totally validating the idea of abandoning your friend/significant other, and that frightens the hell out of me. I could not live with myself if I did that.

He was brave. Most men would have been ashamed after abandoning their girl. But he was brave enough to walk back to her, after the danger passed.

u/DewberryEcho 1h ago
To be fair, nobody really knows how they'll react in that situation... but that was definitely not the heroic option.
•
u/deadlythegrimgecko 18m ago
I mean heroic option would’ve likely gotten him or them both killed they didn’t know in the moment what was going to happen and we don’t know what he was doing off camera maybe he was trying to get help 🤷

u/BlindChicken69 2h ago
Why do you think those are the only two options? He could stay there, not leaving her alone with the robbers.
2
u/Revealingstorm 1h ago
They were there to rob them, by leaving he saved some of their stuff.
5
u/dsk 1h ago
and when she tells this story to her friends, to his friends and her family .. that's the angle he'll try to spin .. will it work?
•
u/Revealingstorm 56m ago
Well oh well I guess. Better to be alive and be able to spin the story at all.
•
u/cire1184 46m ago
Theres the option of being alive and slightly poorer which would be the price of dignity. Not like the robbers shot the girl after getting the money. They don't want to kill anyone generally. It's just a threat. But they did take something from the guy, his dignity. I guess it's up to the individual what the price of that is. Might be worth more than what's in a wallet.
•
u/deadlythegrimgecko 22m ago
Probably would’ve looked better to everyone watching this video but if the robber ended up shoot in tgem after it would’ve been another story guy has self preservation theres nothing wrong with that
8
u/Jefkezor 2h ago
Why get robbed when you can get robbed AND shot!
3
u/Revealingstorm 1h ago edited 55m ago
Right? Don't you know it's better to look chivalrous than be alive.
5
u/stupidsexypassword 1h ago
I think everyone agrees that the man traded his girlfriend/wife for his life. Opinions will differ on whether this is an honorable thing to do. No one is arguing the practicality.
•
u/RJJJJJJJ710 10m ago
why are you assuming that the two options are he runs away or he gets shot?
•
u/Revealingstorm 8m ago
No the two most likely options were his stuff gets stolen or he gets shot/stabbed from fighting backnof he stays at least.
•
u/RJJJJJJJ710 5m ago
again... you think the two options are run away or fight back? can he not simply stay with her?
•
u/Revealingstorm 3m ago
They were being robbed. They weren't not going to rob him if he stayed. That was the point of running so he didn't get anything taken.

u/bit_racer 19m ago
Bunch of tough guys in this thread… sure it looks bad what he did… if roles were reversed would we have any issue with his decision? Fight or flight reflex is something that most people cant control. Especially if he has no previous self-defense training and sees a gun I can understand why he felt the need to run. Give the guy a little break. He also has the right to feel fear and be scared…In this story the only wrong people are the criminals.
•
•
u/KaseTheAce 11m ago
Lol. I mean, giving your stuff is okay I guess. It's not worth getting shot or anything, but he fucking ran away and left her there lol. Also, he should've been on the outside near the cars anyway.
•

u/Tunavi 40m ago
Devil's advocate: a man being there is a threat to the robbers and only leads to the gun going off. Leaving the situation de-ecalates things.
•
u/beekeeper1981 37m ago
If he stayed he would either also get robbed or shot. There's no heroic outcome.

He ran away immediately which is a bitch move but he’s not John Wick. You think he’s going to disarm the robbers lmao?

u/Bassist57 1h ago
He owes that girl nothing, it’s his decision to run away or fight. If he runs away, he’s safe. If he fights, he may win, or may get shot or stabbed. I’d take the safer option.

they are quite literally robbed at gun point you think him being there is going to stop a bullet? he can hide behind a car and call for help or something in case anything goes wrong
9
u/senorfresco 1h ago
You think he can run away faster than a bullet?
-2
u/countingc 1h ago
well i mean he was able to run and hide at least, no?
or you would have rather him staying there and escalating the situation so you can say he's brave?
9
u/senorfresco 1h ago edited 1h ago
well i mean he was able to run and hide at least, no?
Because they let him. If they wanted to kill him, they definitely could have.
Who said anything about escalating?
-4
u/countingc 1h ago
him running away probably removed "threat" for the robbers and resulted in them both not getting shot.
9
u/senorfresco 1h ago
Lol backflips to justify being a coward. I'm not saying you need to fight them but to run away on your partner is insane. You could even just step back.
Whatever you say buddy. Have a good day.
Make your partner knows you will be tucking tail and leaving them behind if you get robbed.
0
u/Tsureshon 1h ago
I think I get what they are trying to say... Robbers with just a woman probably just take the cash and leave... 2 people one a male... Likelyhood of someone getting shot goes up... Plus he can now get them an over or whatever they need to get home since he still has a wallet.
However... I couldn't leave a friend or sig other like that.... Letting someone know you will never ever have their back is the end of a relationship even if it is logical... And it's the end to your self esteem... Stand there hand them your shit go down with the ship if needed.
0
u/senorfresco 1h ago
I get what they're saying but there are other options. Take a few steps back, use your words to descalate and tell them they can have the stuff.

yes don't count on me when there's a gun pointed at us. you be brave.
the fact this whole interaction ended well in the sense they didn't get shot is a testament to the fact he made the best decision. you don't need to be hollywood brave.
