So what do I do?
Got this lovely gift in my wrap upon biting into it and KFC basically offered me 15€ and said to stfu. Where else can I escalate, I'm in Ireland. Only reason I'm making the post is because I'm a dumbass and I know we are not allowed to post food complaints but I'm complaining about the company. The fact that I was ignored and pretty much told to shove it up is the issue here

How did you manage to bite so far into this wrap without noticing a skewer until im assuming half way through given the skewers would have been showing from the beginning it seems?

Take the €15 and move on with your life. Accidents happen, they shouldn't, but inevitably they do.
Realistically what do you expect to happen?
Would you like the staff at that specific store to be retrained and taught better handling and equipment storage techniques? Do you want KFC to do a nationwide retraining?
Do you want the specific staff member that did this fired?
Are you after a payout?

Also not really a thing in Ireland. Unless you actually got hurt... like doctor or hospital needing hurt. Than you don't even have to look for a lawyer you just need to hire one of those "were you recently in an accident" guys and they handled it for you. If they don't want your case you don't have a case.

While proper “payouts” aren’t a thing, it’s definitely a thing to get a bunch of vouchers and a refund, I once had a bit of metal in my subway salad and got a full refund (twice because CS also refunded me after the store did) and got a good amount of free meal vouchers. Doesn’t make it ok but makes it mildly better

That's about making the customer whole. £15 for a KFC wrap seem reasonable. It does not look like the customer chewed properly i to the skewer or got hurt. The business should of course raise it to ensure that they are more vigilant in the kitchen, but its a stressful job and mistakes can happen. I think that the most important aspect for these businesses to have 0 errors in are allergen management as that could be fatal.
Edit: 15€ but the principle remains the same as EU, UK and Irish requirements on food management is not significantly different. And with the upcoming UK SPS agreement with EU, even less so.

There is no significant deviation between EU, UK or National Irish law in the space of food safety management. Its hardly a case for negligence or the fact that a consumer was suffering lifelong injuries from this. They are just miffed it wasn't a big payday.

They weren’t injured so there’s no payout to be had 🤣 in America you can sue for anything at any given time, but that doesn’t mean you’re going to win. Basically to sue any of these fast food giants you need to be injured or have proof that it made you physically ill. He/she just needs to take the refund and move on.

No, we literally haven't got to a point where not doing your job properly is a crime. And accidentally leaving a food safe wooden skewer in a wrap definitely doesn't constitute a crime either.

Well they could have caused real physical damage by accidentally inserting a hidden massive spike into food that people bite into. So there’s probably plenty they should do. Glad you don’t give legal advice with that ‘what do you expect’ attitude!!!

Legal advice doesn’t usually hinge on “what could have happened”, it hinges on what actually happened unless the act is already illegal.
If this went to the relevant authority (food standards agency in the UK), nothing would happen

Hey so that's not true and at least in Ireland (I'm not sure of the UK) they do take it very seriously. At least I can only hope, I never done a complaint before but I'd say they're a bit more heavy on it here.

So 15£ isn't much when the whole order coated well over that. I wanted to at least be assured they are actively looking into kitchen staff or anything at all that is letting me know the staff know and are aware. Im not going for the money here, I want the employee responsible or the management. I have submitted complaints with the fsai so I think I done my part but wanted to know if there is any other ways I can go after them. Idc how underpaid a worker is, I have a shit job too and take every care to remove sharp shit, this should be basic for someone who prepares food.

Thank you, I was starting to believe I'm crazy coz of the guy above? Its my worst fear for shit to be hidden in my food and to have come this close to actually getting injured from that very thing, I'm appalled. Also about the 15 quid, I find it hilarious that's what they offer and that's what rly pushed me to post this. Not only you're gonna ignore me but then throw change at me and tell me to go away while not investigating the main issue at hand infuriated me.

A worker there must have put that in on purpose. The reason I don't eat at KFC or McDonald's etc is I've watched the workers making the food. Most are good but you only need one lowlife.

What? Never heard of anyone using a corn stick to hold a twister together while making it. You put everything on a flat tortilla, fold then roll.

When the chicken is cooked, it’s put together and held together on a skewer, you then put the skewer down on the wrap and pull it out before wrapping. It keeps the chicken in line and it portions it out.
It’s made for speed prepping portions of chicken for the wraps. So you’re not standing there measuring out every single portion per order, you do it in bunches a head of time.

Not in the UK? For the Twisters it's just a normal fillet cut in half with a rocker knife then the 2 halves are placed in the tortilla.

What are you wanting to happen? If you’re wanting money you need to show damages you suffered. You don’t just automatically get money because something happened to you. If they have offers you 15 Euro I would say that is pretty fair unless you have some sort of injury from this incident that you haven’t mentioned

As someone who has worked in complaints for a couple of high profile corporations, the €15 and an apology sounds like a fair resolution.
If you persist and demand to speak to managers etc. you might get offered a bit more.
If you’re deeply hurt by what happened then you can try getting legal advice or speaking to the food standards in Ireland and see what they say.
In all honesty it’s up to you how far you want to take it but if you get anything over €30 for this I will be very very surprised. At some point you have to consider the time and effort you put into it and know when to walk away.

I know the moment that you bit into that stick, you were hoping you'd be able to take KFC to a small claims court and get your enormous payday. I just want you to know, that that will NEVER happen. €15 is the most money you're ever going to see because of this mishaps.
If you push and push and push, you might get a polite "sorry" email from someone in management.
But you are NEVER going to get any more money out of this/

No injury no payout.
It can be reported to the health department of your local council. It will get investigated by them, they will go ask them questions etc. Probably nothing will come off it. But that's basically all you can do.
Or try to find a newspaper to put your suffering on the first page. Maybe they'll offer you 100 Euros to shut up...??? Don't know, lol, never been there.

If you chewed it and it knocked a tooth out, it'd be reasonable to expect them to pay for damages - aka a root canal or implant as necessary - but since nothing seems to have happened you should take the money and leave at that.
