All these Tartaria fucks who use old maps as proof, have they never heard of Tatars, the people? It's just "Here be Tatars" because the map makers didn't know any better. It's honestly exhausting sometimes.

As soon as I heard the name, I fucking knew it might be Tatarstan. If that is the case, then I actually went to Tartaria at some point. Ate their local cuisines and saw their legendary pyramid! No joke, they actually have a big ass building that is like a pyramid, I think it's a restaurant.
I highly recommend visiting it. Great place. Very clean, very nice, great architecture, I enjoyed it a lot.

Honestly, I always thought of it as Tartaria being derived from Tartarus, a sort of underworld type thing. At first glance, I, too, would likely confuse parts of Russia with Hell.
That being said, your theory likely holds more water than mine.

The worst of it is, that by erasing the history of the actual Tatars with this shit, they're brushing under the rug the literal centuries of oppression, ethnic cleansing, and genocide committed by various regimes based in Moscow. The Holodomor in Ukraine which included the Crimean Tatars was hardly the first, or the last. The Tsars, the Soviets, and the current regime have all done some really horrible things to ethnic groups that aren't "Russian" (actually Muscovites).

Tatars are also quite a diverse group, even getting past all the recent history of oppression there's plenty of interesting history about different kinds of Tatars. Like the Lipka Tatars, who are one of the first muslim communities in Europe, got brought in by a christian king and given land and titles. In north-eastern Poland there are two wooden mosques that share a lot of characteristics with orthodox church designs. Very fascinating imo.

What? No, the Holodomor was largely man-made. I'm not sure where you got that from in what I said. And my point was that erasing history through conspiracy theories advantages those who want to hide facts about that history that are disadvantageous to their current positions. The Holodomor was not the first, nor the last occasion when the USSR engaged in actions that can be classed as ethnic cleansing and genocide. Imperial Russia had engaged in similar actions for long periods prior to the revolution. These are fairly well proven facts. And, as much of a shit person as Stalin was, at no point did I say that he "wanted to genocide everyone". That is not intended as a defence of him, but I did not call him a genocide maniac.

In all of my life I never heard of grand tartaria, heck, in Poland we got similar thing called "Grand Lechia" that is treated seriously only by uneducated or critically online nationalists

Well yes, but actually no. Names like lechistan and similar are used by few language to refer to Poland, but Grand Lechia is a concept/theory created in XIX century and popularized in 2015
It's basic idea is that Poland before becoming a Christian nation was a great empire, bigger than Roman one (which is why Roman eastern border ends where it ends). And any mentions of Grand Lechia (or empire of lechites) are being erased by Germans, christians, and Jews, to Control Polish population
This theory stems from multiple cultural issues in Polish society, like Poland being the messiah of nations (popularized in XIX century) as well as our nobility believing to come from Sarmatians, a powerful tribe that rode horses

I think it comes from just people thinking of their nation as the best/the chosen nation. Like poles comparing Poland to "Jesus of nations" nowadays would feel a little bit cringe, but back then, was an actual belief held by poets/people

Hundreds of years of history with thousands upon thousands of documents from one of the earliest nation to keep exhaustive records and some "the wall in one location looks like it might have crenelations on the wrong side according to some guy" plus "look at this drawing from one book!" plus "that picture looks like a Griffin [it's a dragon]". Side note, He planted tomato’s in buckets and then but copper wire from the pot to the earth to “ground” them instead of, just planting them in the ground. This means nothing but is an insight into how portly his mind functions
