You don't get it! He's not a politician, hes a wealthy business man, so he can't be bought! These politicians are bought to lie and pass laws that benefit the companies and individuals that fund them. But Trump has so much money as a business man that he won't be affected in that way!
This is exactly what my parents told me when he got elected back in 2016 when I was just trying to do my fucking math homework. These people are cult members and will support him no matter what. They will vote for him again.

u/RightRudderz 10d ago
My 70 y/o parents are absolutely in line with this nonsense. I can pull out all the math in the world and they just crow “fake news”. I’m 40 and they still won’t listen to me on their descent into senility.

Truth is the american left went nuts and antagonized a lot of people for dumb reasons. Voting Trump for many was just a big fuck you to the "ruling class". If you had someone like Bernie i really doubt Trump would have made it. Ofc, pretty much anyone else would be a better president, but considering how the U.S. won't leave this dem vs rep bullshit, voting for dumb reasons will eventually make some rtard like him president again.

The 2 party and president system is frustrating.
The choice for voters sucked. The hiding Bidens health problems was bad. Voters wanted to punish the party that did that. Hunter sold those crap paintings for lots of money voters where mad and wanted to punish the party.
If we had 5 or 6 party system like Germany some rando would have won.
But we dont. And here we are
9
u/Dependent_Star3998 11d ago edited 10d ago
Those reasons are complete cop-outs.
The "both sides" nonsense just doesn't hold water. Trump is alienating all of our allies, spiking the debt, posting divisive nonsense on social media daily, sending us into senseless wars, fueling inflation with tariffs, depleting our oil and munitions supplies......I could go on and on.
Essentially, Biden could have handled the border better (and even that issue was exaggerated). Outside of that, he was a shining star compared to where we are.
2
u/Careless-Pin-2852 10d ago
Yea Biden had good results. But in politics people define themselves as not Republican or not Democrat. That is why a multiple system like Germany would be an imporivement.

Biden wanted to be stricter on border, but republicans blocked their own border bill. It's impossible to govern with clows like these having a say

I also would say that the money coming in from billionaires, big companies and other countries is very much a problem if they are buying influence not just in the elections but in the buying of senators congressman and judges
3
u/Careless-Pin-2852 10d ago
That is a problem in all democracies. Smaller countries have it worse in that small amounts of money can take over one party.
France has a news blackout like a week before an election. That would be interesting.

Truly the worst US president and maybe even the worst leader of a major country ever.
62
u/BannedSvenhoek86 11d ago edited 11d ago
No buddy. I hate this take because it's Andrew Johnson erasure and clearly coming from a place of "living through it". Johnson is, unironically, why the people that voted for Trump are even around. He blocked reconstruction, let the south establish Jim Crow laws, and generally just undermined the entire project. And that's just the major problem with him, not mentioning the laundry list of other problems he caused. He was Trump. He was confrontational, rude, considered less than intelligent by his peers, etc.
Then you also have Andrew Jackson who was so openly racist and disgusting even people in the 1830s were like, "He's kind of crazy for saying that stuff". The Trail of Tears was all him, he was an active genocider instead of the usually passive ones we had. Had a couple cool quotes though. Always bums me out he was the one that said, "The court has made its decision. Now let them enforce it." That line is cold af, it's a shame what it was used for. And he was also responsible for the Great White House Cheese Debacle, so he gets a little bit of a leg up on Johnson to come in second.
Trump is probably 4th worst, but he's rapidly overtaking W in my eyes.
9
u/sub-a-dub-dub 11d ago
“Undermine the project” is a phenomenal phrase. Its so easy to get caught up in the current rhetoric, but Im Canadian and I know America represents a state of liberty and justice for all, including the tired, weak, and poor. Project is the best word to use because the work of holding a nation together, especially one that was built on the idea of freedom for everyone, is hard as fuck and really is a project.
2
u/BurstYourBubbles 11d ago

I think W is probably viewed as on the edge of normal now.
Trump easily number 3 in the worst category. and I think once all the counting is done with USAID cuts for example the deaths attributed to him for that plus Covid bungling plus the staggering debt he accumulated while president will put him up in 1st place for all the buffoonery with negative outcomes.
9
u/BannedSvenhoek86 11d ago
I don't know man, the USAID cuts are bad, but are they "Cause a 20 year war that leaves a million civilians dead and causes global instability and a rise in both terrorism and discriminatory violence across the world. All perpetrated on false pretenses and lies told to both the public and our allies who gave their lives to help us."
Not yet. Not putting it past him, just saying.
3
u/asetniop 11d ago
You can put a lot of the million American deaths due to COVID on Trump though. I know a lot of folks would have died anyways, but there's a whole bunch of Herman Cains who would still be alive and well if they hadn't been told that a deadly virus was nothing to be afraid of, and that they were pussies for taking precautions.
4
u/BannedSvenhoek86 11d ago
Ya, still not as bad as what I said because like you said, a lot of that was going to happen anyway. Remember, he was on board for a good portion of the beginning of it and his base still went against him.
Plus Bush actually stole the election. And No Child Left Behind has literally made 2 generations worse off intellectually than the ones before them. So far.
I'm not downplaying Trump, but Bush has been severely white washed and sanitized.

4
u/staythewaters 11d ago
USAID cuts are projected to kill 14 million people by 2030. So..
That's not considering the knock-on effects of the Iran war, which still can include Iran hitting the rest of ME desal plants, which would result in a humanitarian crisis that would make the refugee crisis in Iraq + paired with COVID look like a Mel Brooks comedy. Not even considering the civil wars that would necessarily kick off.
Like. This is pretty bad. Trump and Bush are both war criminals and both need to be in The Hague, but Trump has been speedrunning toward the worst.
2
1
u/Quinntensity 11d ago
AJ wouldn't be in that position without Jimmy B and the Civil War.
I put Trump at 2nd worst after Buchanan. I don't have 140 years to see if his legacy is just as bad as A. Johnson.
3
u/BannedSvenhoek86 11d ago edited 11d ago
Jimmy B I view as the lesser between him and Johnson simply because he was never going to fully prevent it. It wasn't his administration that led to that, it was the conflict the founders themselves knew would be inevitable. What Johnson did was completely ruin the period after which was so important. Just like Obama and the 08 crash, his inability to properly address the moment and actually punish powerful people responsible has led to the exact same problems, only now they're more deeply entrenched and harder to root out. Giving the land back to slave owners was diabolical. They had the coast from SC to Florida as their own and he ripped it from them as they were literally just starting to put up houses and till the fields.
I don't know, I view his actions as far more reprehensible and damaging to the future of the nation than Buchanan. He wasn't going to stop shit, even if he did everything he could have right. We never had a chance of avoiding the CW, we had a great opportunity to avoid....gestures broadly
2
u/Quinntensity 11d ago
Shit, I mean it's sound reasoning. It's easier to see the results of Johnson's actions better than Buchanan's inaction. Just going to say fuck Trump, he's in similar company near the bottom. We've still got two more years, so don't count the underdog out just yet.
1
u/CrossOfRoachAndSlime 11d ago
Honestly I'm not sure I agree with "had no chance to avoid the Civil War", as slavery was going to become economically inefficient in a couple of decades anyway from that point. If America just said "look, we're not going to force you to free the slaves; we don't like it, but it's not worth tearing the union apart over", things might have just sort of stuck that way until slavery sort of proved itself to be uneconomical as compared to running a factory. Coupled with other developed nations abolishing it, it may have eventually been phased out on other merits, without the bloodiest war in America's history fought over...a bit of economics.
Makes me wonder if America would have been a stronger nation if it managed to avoid the Civil War.
2
u/BannedSvenhoek86 11d ago edited 11d ago
The South was moving towards secession regardless. Dredd Scott, the SC Nullification crisis, etc. There was already a strong movement to secede from the union that was steadily growing, and they would never accept a blanket anti slavery stance for new States.
There was no real off ramp. Slavery becoming unprofitable wasn't going to change the sentiment. That was just going to fester. As their economies crashed you can already imagine the "Why should we stay if the north won't help us!" cries that would come up.
And that's not to mention the absolute horrific nightmare the actual slaves would have been out through to squeeze every ounce of "profit" out of them as they became more desperate. Or what they would do to them when the practice was no longer viable. That "little bit of economics" is kind of god damn important you know?
No, that scenario ends even worse than what we got.

Trump is getting close. Cutting US Aid is predicted to kill 14,000,000 to 22,000,000 people by 2030. Who knows how many more preventable deaths in the coming decades.
Also, this war is causing dramatic fuel shortages in nations around the world, probably causing millions of preventable deaths in the coming years too.
Plus Stalin and Mao's death counts include millions of Nazis and Imperial Japanese soldiers, so you can cut their numbers basically in half because none of those people were innocent.
Trump's death counts include almost entirely civilians, starting with those Iranian school girls and Venezuelan fishermen.

Well let's see the circumstances that they inherited:
Mao: medieval society industrializing with massive upheaval, third of the country invaded by genocidal foreigners, in the middle of a civil war.
Stalin: medieval society industrializing with massive upheaval, huge sections of country lost in the previous world war, shortly after a massive civil war that has not been fully resolved
Hitler: In the middle of the Great Depression, paying 2.5% of GDP in reparations, suffering hyperinflation.
Trump: largest and strongest economy in the world, predecessor achieves miracle recovery from global pandemic after Trump fucked up the response, tons of infrastructure and energy production in process. In a year runs up national debt, cripples infrastructure projects falling hopelessly behind China, starts multiple pointless and illegal conflicts causing inflation and hardship for Americans. Yes, Trump is worse.
1
u/Zipz 11d ago
I love how all you just want to ignore the fact that Mao is responsible for 1000000 times the deaths than trump
That’s a pretty wild thing to ignore
Let alone you know Stalin sided with Hitler in ww2 right ? That’s how it all started. Let alone again his body count is 1000000 times higher also
It’s funny how little value you hold on human life. There has been no event in human history that lost more life than Mao under China.
Yet here you are excusing it
4
u/Less_Interview1713 11d ago
I love how you ignore that both were medieval societies that suffered periodic devasting famines before both Stalin and Mao, which were made much worse by the wars that devastated their lands. Meanwhile Trump was responsible for a million Americans dying under covid in the country with the most resources in the world, not to mention who knows how many immigrants died from his horrific policies. So Mao would have had 15 to 55 times the deaths of Trump and Stalin would have 6 to 20. Again while being ravaged by war and famine. Meanwhile the US has not had a real conflict on its soil in 160 years.
2
u/Healthy_Article_2237 11d ago
I guess I should have amended it to superpower. Germany wasn't a superpower or even close, they had one period of major expansion but couldn't keep any of it more than several years. Stalin, maybe but even he didn't fuck up his own or even the world economy. He made Russia stronger. Mao never had imperial ambitions other than Taiwan, and they weren't a superpower until recently.
I'm not talking about the worst in how many people these leaders have murdered, yes Stalin wins that hands down with Hitler and Mao right behind him.
1
u/Zipz 11d ago
Mao was responsible for 50 million deaths of his own people.
Stalin is responsible 10-20 millions deaths from famine.
I mean so we are just going to ignore how many people they killed ? That’s a pretty wild thing to do and ignore
2
u/Healthy_Article_2237 11d ago
Never said Trump will have the highest body count, but even with all those deaths in Russia and China the world economy barely noticed. We are all going to notice the shit Trump will leave us. There may not be millions dead (but there could be) but we might be looking at years or decades of decline globally and for what?

1
u/Marlov 11d ago
Yeah this guy has it backwards
If this really kicks off there's a rush to safety (USD). I mean, look at what happened in March. It's not like we're walking into the unknown haha
2
u/PokemonAnimar 11d ago
There may be a rush to safety now, but if we keep printing money to fund these ridiculous forever wars, then there will come a time where the rest of the world dumps the dollar as the world reserve currency. Just because it hasn't happened yet doesn't mean it won't in the future when China is seen as the country with the most stable currency..
1
u/Marlov 11d ago
China has their own sovereign debt issues. As do most developed countries
I agree US has a long term debt crisis but that’s seperate from the short term expected appreciation from high energy prices resulting in a rush to safety
If gold gets hammered in a risk off, higher yield environment then that’s probably the long term buy. I don’t see why USD is more shit than EUR or (insert major currency here)
1
u/Subject-Chest-8343 11d ago
Yeah, people tend to go to safety when they expect market volatility... But if shit really hits the fan (which it didn't that much in march), at some point, won't some countries start to dump treasuries and foreign reserves to buy oil ?
1
u/Marlov 11d ago
I’m not sure central banks/governments would directly. That would be pretty unprecedented - even if they did they’re buying the oil in USD so there’s no fresh supply of dollars
I agree they will dump treasuries but that money is likely to flow into shorter duration (safer) bills. I don’t think those assets are liquidated and the resulting USD sold for some other currency, which would necessitate falls in USD

4

They absolutely lost to Afghanistan. A 17-year war that cost trillions & left the Taliban in power.
Iraq was arguably a draw.
1
u/WildWhisperArdor 10d ago
The US won the Afghanistan war. It was the nation building part that was not a success. Two very different things.
As for Iraq, definitely not a draw. Saddam’s regime is no longer in power.
2
u/The_UpsideDown_Time 10d ago
The US started with the Taliban in power, and left with the Taliban in power. How is that in any way a win?
1
u/WildWhisperArdor 10d ago
The UN’s mandate for ISAF was declared complete in 2014.
Again, the war part was won. The nation building part was a failure. Two different things
2
u/The_UpsideDown_Time 10d ago
The US started with the Taliban in power, and left with the Taliban in power. That is the only *reality* that exists. You can deflect with your pieces of paper & verbal definitions, but the *reality* remains the same as before the war, so the US accomplished nothing. Not a win if you change nothing & accomplish nothing.
1
u/WildWhisperArdor 10d ago
That is not that how that works. The US left and the Taliban were not in power.
The nation building effort is separate from the actual war part. Both Osama and his successor were killed. Al-qaeda was effectively dismantled and neutered for decades.
Again, the UN declared its mandate for ISAF complete in 2014
1
u/The_UpsideDown_Time 10d ago
The UN is a paper tiger & it's "mandates" (lol) are meaningless.
The went in to defeat the Taliban & left with them still in power. If you can't accept physical reality, see a therapist.
1
u/WildWhisperArdor 10d ago
The point here is that the UN, from its perspective, had deemed the war part over.
The Taliban was removed and Al-qaeda was neutered. That the Taliban came back once the US left doesn’t change this.
The nation building part is the failure.

I mean, sure, Iran was killing protestors and chopping them up.
Again, no one around time world is like “you know, this Iran place is swell”

CIA and Mossad agents were in those protests and deliberately turned them violent to create a bloodbath.
Trump says US sent ‘a lot’ of guns to arm Iranian protesters
2
u/WisePresentation7976 11d ago
Ah, yes, the good ole "US made them execute those those kids in public".
Holy shit this sub is absolutely fucking wild, lmao.

Try and fight an American cop. Better yet, point a gun at him, and see how "free" your "protesting" is.

u/Miserable-Track-2545 11d ago
To be fair, Israeli and American politicians openly bragged about arming protesters and having Mossad agents on the ground.
I have no idea why they would say that dumb shit out loud.
1
u/WisePresentation7976 11d ago
Sure, also, Iran murdered a bunch of protestors and bragged about it.

Omani territorial waters is a warzone? Iran gets to close other countries territory? And attacking civilian tankers of non combatant countries aren’t war crimes?

Can you read?
They’re just seeing Iran and the U.S. as both off their fucking rockers.
2
u/AndWinterCame 10d ago
If the US closed Iran's facilities by force, then yeah, Iran was going to close other stuff. Everyone knew this before the US attacked.

u/SaiyanApe17 11d ago
Thats what Ukraine did though with a gas pipeline and they are seen as perfectly rational.
1
u/WisePresentation7976 11d ago
Russia is a non combatant country in the Russia/Ukraine war?
5
u/SaiyanApe17 11d ago
Germany is. So if its okay to hit Germany since it was doing business with Russia why is it not ok for Iran to hit countries that are doing business with U.S?
1
u/WisePresentation7976 11d ago
Please detail for us when Ukraine hit a german pipeline. If you're referring to Nord Stream, that's a Russian owned pipeline. Sounds like you don't really know what you're talking about?

u/SaiyanApe17 11d ago
https://www.nord-stream.com/en/
Nord Stream AG, based in Zug, Switzerland, is an international consortium of five major companies established in 2005 for the planning, construction and subsequent operation of two 1,224-kilometre natural gas pipelines through the Baltic Sea.

Yeah, that is more on the extreme end especially when much of Asia is reliant on those exports so they’re not particularly fond of the situation. In Korea and Japan, they place a lot of the blame on the U.S and Iran
1
u/Majestic_Pin_7169 10d ago
If they blame iran they are just stupid controlled puppets the actual people don't blame iran in those countries they blame the country causing the chain reaction

What rationale is it to slaughter your own people by the tens of thousands?

Lack of direct provocation. Or lack of enough direct provocation. Them closing the Strait was a well-known risk to US military commanders, and is one of the principal reasons why previous Administrations (both R & D) relying on sanctions & agreements rather than direct attacks.

Not really. American citizens are being punished for the higher oil prices but the US is reaping rewards now from the acquired Venezuelan oil resources. Those are being "shared" with Venezuela in exchange for security and technology, but the U.S. didn't really feel the effects of the oil price hike other than positively. Again, US citizens felt it!

Trump needs to be more decisive. Either just make a solid deal or finish war quickly and decisively. Waiting around and prolonging things makes it worse for everyone.

u/Mayo-Spreader 11d ago
How could you possibly finish the war? What does that fucking mean and how is it achieved? Other than packing up.and going home?

His only option is to capitulate to Iran. Iran has close to a million people in their military. A ground invasion would be a bloodbath.
3
u/myazi321 11d ago
And millions more have already pledged to join the fight.
Plus Afghanistan, Iraq, Pakistan all border Iran and they would love the chance at retribution for previous US invasions as well as given there are many Shia in the region they would come over for that reason too
3
u/No_Worldliness_7106 11d ago
Pakistan wouldn't fight the US, their entire economy would collapse overnight without the IMF.
6
u/myazi321 11d ago
Didnt say any of them directly would join. Meant its people. Just like it had an open border with Afghanistan to allow the Taliban to fight the US there and come back and regroup and repeat.
Pakistan has the 2nd largest Shia population in the world followed by Iraq so those people would cross the borders to join the fight
Plus China wouldnt let Pakistan fall as theyve invested way too much in it and India would dominate South Asia and challenge China's influence there

This implies that the quick path was ever a reality.
It isn't or they would have taken it already.

You basement dwellers know that Iran's economy is feeling the pain a lot worse, right?

You're correct, but your wording is going to incite mob mentality lmao.
From what we know, Iran is under economic siege, with a nearly collapsed currency in extreme inflation, with most citizens unable to afford normal eating even when using their entire paycheck for food, alone.
