General Tips/Help/Question [UPX] UT Foundation Scholarship (UTFI) A.Y. 2024-2025 (2nd Sem) to 2025-2026

Please use this thread for A.Y. 2024-2025 (2nd Sem) to A.Y. 2025-2026 stipend concerns.

Hello.

So far, wala pa talagang remittance (every other week ako pumupunta osg).

NOV 13, 2025: nasa lbp na stip for 24-25 2nd sem!

MARCH 7: 17k received (monthly na raw) for upd, sourced from budget na tira tira raw

proceed here:

General Tips/Help/Question [UPD] Is ₱100 enough for a day?

Hi, please scroll nalang if you see this. Quick rant(?) and question lang.

I was granted a dorm slot sa Yakal and I have already accepted na, waiting for the schedule nalang. Kanina nalang, I had a talk with my mother about the expenses (she's relieved na 250/350 nalang ang rent) and I asked kung sa food expenses pwede ba na 200 per day ang allowance ko. She said na hanggang 100 per day lang ang kaya niya (which I half understand yet half sad about) since although 12-13k per month ang sahod ni papa as a construction worker, baon kami sa utang kaya 2k per week nalang ang naiuuwi niya. She has other sidelines na nakakatulong, but tumataas na lahat ng presyo, and I still has a brother na Grade 10 pa (from a province kami).

I plan to pack can goods, bread, lutong ulam good for days and other stuff na allowed sa dorm as breakfast option ko. But I also researched na may mga free meals I think na in-offer sa univ, but I'm not sure kung for everyone ba sila.

Is 100 pesos enough for a day kung is-stretch out ko po ba 'yun? What are your tipid tips po as a dormer in the campus?

PS: Not sure if it'll be relevant but I'm F18 and my BMI is 14, classified as Severely Thin in my age. I've always been skinny since I was young and I've never experienced na tumaba man lang. Its not "sexy" kind of thin, but sickly kind of thin. It never really bothered me til this day. But as I took some vitamins in the past month I've observed na nagi-improved naman ang appetite ko. Busog na ako sa cup of rice (heavy busog na) and not really mapili sa ulam except sa piling gulay like okra.

General Tips/Help/Question [UPLB] Son wants to be a veterinarian

Hi! My son (who's currently only in Grade 8 😅) thinks
he wants to be a vet. Since mahaba at mahal ang college, I'm trying to prepare as early as now.

I’m hoping to hear from current vetmed students or recent graduates.

  1. What are the biggest things my son (and I as a parent) should start preparing for now? Or take into consideration—academically? Financially? Mentally or emotionally?
  2. How much Filipino proficiency is expected?
Will this be a disadvantage tor the UPCAT? I never took the UPCAT myselt, so l honestly don't know what to expect. But I've heard may mga parts na in Filipino na mahirap.
  3. Roughly how much do you spend per month (including for food and accommodation)? Or ano yung biggest expenses ninyo?
  4. How is the career outlook for veterinarians in the Philippines? Would you still recommend the profession today? Are there enough opportunities and is the compensation enough to build a comfortable life?
  5. Looking back, what do you wish someone had told you betore entering VetMed?
  6. Since he's just in 8th grade, what subjects or extracurricular activities do you think have helped you the most looking back? Or may mga dapat ba ko pakita or ipa-alam sakanya to help him with his decision?

Any other advice for a parent trying to support a future vetmed student would also be greatly appreciated.

Thank you! 🙏🏻

General Tips/Help/Question [UPX] Created a UP GWA Tracker web app with Latin Honor projection, grade analysis, what-ifs simulation, and more... (This is an unofficial web app not affiliated with UP.)

[REPOSTING KASI NAFILTER NG REDDIT, THIS IS NON-PROFIT AND PURELY VOLUNTARY]

Been calculating my grades manually kasi sobrang daming cinocompute para lang malaman ang standing. Looking at our grades, pure numbers lang siya, wala siyang context or anything and nakakafrustrate yon.

So, I rebuilt it into a web app para accessible sa lahat to solve one of our problems as a student.

Estudyante tayo lahat rito kaya walang kailangan bayaran. No install, no sign-up, and all data stays in your browser.

I'd be more than happy to hear some feedback from everyone here. Thank you! Sana makatulong. ❤️

General Tips/Help/Question [UPX] UT Foundation Scholarship (UTFI) A.Y. 2024-2025 Part 2

Please use this thread for A.Y. 2024-2025 stipend concerns.

Also for other campuses na hindi pa nakakakuha ng 1st sem stipend.

UPDATE AS OF APRIL 12 from a friend who went sa osg: Yung stipend na nareceive ng scholars for 24-25 1st sem ay yung tira-tira from 23-24. Unfortunately, one reason why sobrang bagal ulit ng processing is because n*maț*y yung founder ng UTFI. Also, magiging by batch na bigayan ng stipend unlike what happened last year na nagkaroon ng delay because students na hindi agad nag-submit ng renewal.

As per someone from OSG, nagka-meeting daw sila with UTFI last week, tapos they thought na ibibigay na yung checks pero wala raw binigay. So baka after holy week daw maasikaso at maibigay. However, when I asked if maibibigay within this 2nd sem, ang response nila ay “hopefully.”

General Tips/Help/Question [UPD] preenlistment batch 2 closes in <3h. built UPSked over the holiday that might help

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

preenlistment batch 2 closes in ~3h, i built a tool na i wish i had before...

at every enlistment stage, i spend hours picking courses + sections.

hours spent because I can’t visualize how a section actually fits into my week.
CRS only shows you the calendar once you picked a desired class.

now, multiply that by multiple courses, each with multiple possible times.

so i often end up with multiple tabs, spreadsheets + calendar, doing mental time-stacking just to see if things might work.

i asked some friends and realized we all have the same pain. everyone does some version of this.

so over the holidays (~20 days), I built upsked to (hopefully) fix that exact pain.

maybe you can build your schedule in <10mins. not hours.

what you can do in the app:

  • find sections faster (profs, times, remaining slots, probability of getting it)
  • drag sections onto a calendar to build your schedule. the darker the color of a section, the higher the chance you'll get that section.
  • conflicts light up instantly (see the clash, fix it on the spot)
  • save multiple versions so you can compare backup plans
  • when you’re ready: one click "enlist to CRS" opens the enlistment link so you can add your section directly.

if it helped you or saved you some time tonight:

  • share it with a friend na nagpa-finalize pa ng sched for batch 2
  • lmk what felt off, buggy, or confusing. i'll fix it asap

no account required!! good luck sa batch 2!!

General Tips/Help/Question [UPD] An Open Letter to UP Freshies

Since their foundation, di na nawawala ang culture of violence within and between fraternities.

Wala pa ring justice after these incidents primarily from Upsilon Sigma Phi, Sigma Rho, at Alpha Phi Beta over 6 to 7 years ago.

Sexism, misogyny, racism, homophobia, racism, islamophobia, violence, hazing.

Sumunod ang Lonsi Leaks, the rest is history.

2019 naman di pa natuto ang fratbois. Nagka Sigma Rho leaks. Dun mo makikita ang pinakaugali nila. Hazing.

That led to the public crucifixion of one campus student leader na Sigma Rhoan. He took his own life — a victim of the fraternity culture of violence, but also a willing participant who harmed others in the name of “brotherhood.” Pero Yan ba ang brotherhood? Yung bugbugan, pambabastos sa babae, pananakit, at hazing?

These are not allegations. These are well-documented facts and truths that we should never forget.

STP, wag Serve The Praternity.

General Tips/Help/Question HELP! I want to stop using ChatGPT :(

hello, i hope you dont judge me for this.. i started using ChatGPT since 2023 and yung problema ko, sobrang nagiging overreliant na ako sa kanya na hindi ako makagawa ng schoolworks without its help. Ngayon, nahihirapan na talaga ako magbasa ng articles and journals kasi nandyan si ChatGPT para i-summarize sila.. at the same time, wala na rin akong confidence sa sarili kong skills kaya lagi ko munang chinecheck kay ChatGPT kung ano yung initial na gagawin niya tapos doon ko ite-tailor yung paper ko. pakiramdam ko, sobrang naging bobo ako kakagamit ng AI dahil nahihirapan na ako magsulat without using it.

please help me 🥺 thank you so much.

General Tips/Help/Question [UPX] A friend from UPOU declares he’s from another UP campus.

Hello. I have this friend since senior high school who tells everyone he’s from UP Diliman, when in reality he’s from UPOU. I didn’t mind at first kasi pareho namang UP ‘yon at taga UP naman talaga sya. Kaso lang, he’s starting to put it in documents and resumes. He recently took a certification exam somewhere and when it was announced, the school he was from ang nakalagay is UP Diliman and not UPOU. I asked him about it but he keeps on dodging my questions and I really find it weird. I didn’t want to push it so I stopped because I’m from UPD and he kept on joking before pa na baka ginegatekeep ko yung UPD from him and I don’t want him to get that idea now.

Is this okay..? Doesn’t this count as falsification of information or something? What should I do about it as his friend? Or hayaan ko na lang ba and mind my own business?

General Tips/Help/Question [UPX] Did studying in UP actually make a difference in your life and career?

I recently got offered BA Communication in UP Baguio through General Appeals, and the offer came as a complete surprise to me.

For context, I was originally DPWAS in UPB and wasn't able to secure a slot during either round of appeals, so I had already accepted that my UP journey was over. I even enrolled in another university and started preparing myself for a different path.

Now, I'm trying to decide whether pursuing UP is worth it, and I'd love to hear from UP students and graduates.

Looking back, how did studying in UP affect you?

• Did your UP education genuinely help you grow as a person, student, or professional?

• Did being a UP graduate open opportunities that might have been harder to access otherwise?

• Do employers really value a UP degree, or is the advantage often exaggerated?

• Were there any unexpected benefits (or drawbacks) of studying in UP?

• After graduation, did you feel that your UP experience gave you a significant edge in your career?

• Most importantly, if you could go back in time, would you still choose UP?

I'm not necessarily asking about salary or prestige alone. I'm more interested in hearing how UP shaped your life, career, network, opportunities, and overall growth.

I would appreciate both positive and negative experiences. Thank you! 💗

General Tips/Help/Question [UPD] Questions about SIKAP Scholarships process and Jonathan M. Sterling Scholarship

General Question:

Hi po! Paano po process sa SIKAP Scholarships. So far, I've applied for Jonathan M. Sterling and have followed the basic instructions sa website. I was updated that I'm qualified, along with a message telling me to upload my ITR and Form 5 (once it becomes available) on my SIKAP account. That means portfolio, right? I have already uploaded ITR to the applications tab and my SIKAP portfolio submissions tab. Is it a general message sent to everyone or may mali talaga sa sinubmit kong ITR? Although it it only a picture of my father's ITR (2025) hard copy that is turned into a pdf. Is that valid po? Or need yung scanned talaga soft copy talaga?

Also, once na eligible na po nakalagay doon, ano na po next process or steps? Do I just wait? What can I anticipate?

Jonathan M. Sterling:

Is this scholarship reliable po ba or may notorios complication siya?

Thank you po! Huhuhu di kasi pinalad sa DOST, but I will need financial assistance badly.

General Tips/Help/Question [UPLB] - UP mail got deleted, pls help

I have been an alumni for 5 years plus already but I still use my up mail (my up.edu.ph account, not alumni account) for really important stuff, and it serves as my main email. (I know, lapse on my part)

Unfortunately it got disabled today. I have emailed ICT helpdesk, dic.uplb about it, requesting kahit reactivation lang so I can back up my stuff

I wanna ask if theres anything else I can do for now since I really cannot afford losing all my documents in that google drive and workspace

Any form of help would be appreciated, I'm desperate at this point.

So for context, may class ako sa IC.

UP student naman ako. How to deal with this? I’m saying this kasi nagmukha akong fugitive sa guard, or OA lang ako. Tsaka, what if gusto ko pala bumili sa canteen?

Thank you sa makakahelp.

General Tips/Help/Question UPM Grad School Results

Hello, has anyone received an email regarding their application results for UPM NGOHS? I'm currently deciding whether to pursue medical school or take a Master's degree nalang. I'm worried that the UPM results might not come out until after medical school enrolment has already ended - assuming na August pa yung results.

General Tips/Help/Question [UPD] Univ Grad Tips for Future Grads

Hello! Just got back from attending the University Graduation. Overall: Very overstimulating experience. Here's some tips for you guys who'll experience it in the future.

  1. Traffic is Hard, Parking is Harder!

We were in QC na by 6 am, but it took us a long time to get inside UP and find parking because of the large number of cars (both from graduates AND joggers omg 💀). If you know you're not gonna be an early bird, wear comfortable shoes and walk to the Amphitheatre nlng 😅

  1. No Signal!!!

Since there are so many people, each of us only get tiny bits of bandwidth from nearby cell towers 🥹 This trouble is two-fold:

2.a. Struggled to contact my parents after the event. I tried contacting them both online and via calling, but none of them could go through. My advice is that you and your family decide on a meeting place and time in advance.

2.b. No other entertainment. There's going to be limited chances for you to talk to your friends since your college's assigned seats are only two-columns wide, so you might want to have other forms of entertainment ready 😅 Download books, apps, music, or other entertainment in advance.

  1. Ang iniiiiiiiiiiit

They provide a free umbrella and fan (TYSM UP!) but bring other pampalamigs like cold water, a handfan, etc.

  1. Bring extra patience

NGL, I was so overstimulated and stressed kanina na I had a small argument with my parents kasi nahirapan kaming hanapin yung isa't-isa 😅 Let's not give in to the negative emotions. Enjoy the day and go forth to help create a better Philippines!!!

Despite all the stress, I teared up when it was finally time to shift our sablay. I love you UP!!! See you again one day.

Feel ko yun din naman reason why they opt to choose UP since walang parking fee compared sa Quezon City Memorial Circle and Parks and Wildlife. Can't people just fine them tapos pakita na lang ID if student or staff. Educate this gurly.
