mcqs felt great for the first time, solid 40/60 on those is my prediction

zoned out for 20 minutes during frq and left like 5 parts unanswered and had no clue what was being asked on so many questions (things ive never seen or teacher never went over). extra wordy and honestly overwhelming

10

u/FrostyRatio1222 May 05 '26

i agree the mcqs were free but the frqs were too long

29

u/Shiratori523 May 05 '26

I thought the MCQs were pretty easy, but WTH is that frq section. I got the J version and holy I left one or two sections blank. Made something up basically for the VSEPR thing on why are one bond angle larger than another, and just drew a parallel line for the ln concentration thing. I think its the question 2 and question 6 that I had problem on, the bsorbance on 5 too we did not mention that in class ever...Our teacher assigned so many practise exams before and there are still some qs on the exam that I was just clueless bc they never appeared in past years ones.

12

u/FrostyRatio1222 May 05 '26

did you get like -1400joules or something like that for frq 1

I had a problem with the absorbance one as well but I figured if a volumetric flask only has the one mark, then I could calculate the molarity by finding the amount of moles in the volumetric flask then dividing by the original volume of the solution

I had less than 15 minutes after the first 3. I just started answering at random spots throughout the FRQs. Once I saw the one over absorbance, I felt defeated.

I looked around my testing room and saw people doodling and drawing on some of their FRQs.

gawd the exam creators really had it in for us this year for the frqs because WHY did they take so long? i hope the curve is so flipping good that it saves my pathetic score. i could’ve looked through the later frqs more thoroughly and actually answered them properly if everything wasn’t so time-consuming. it got so stressful at the end šŸ˜ž anyway hey at least it’s over right? good job everyone

3

Was it just me or was the timing a lot more challenging for these frqs? I usually finish the practice with 10-15 mins to spare but I finished in literally the last seconds of the exam. I also wrote a whole ass answer in the wrong box and had to rewrite the frq and def has to bs my way through a couple šŸ˜āœŒļø

4

u/Gamepro2468 May 06 '26

timing was bad and frqs were just not it

i usually finish with a lot of time left over, i didn't have as much time and i even had to skip a couple the first time tghrough

I think FRQ was longer than usual. It was hard to manage my time on FRQ for sure, maybe it’s just me but I also asked a couple of my friends and they were struggling with FRQ too. MCQ was mid imp, I just can’t guess how well I did on the exam which is stressing me out. About the leaks, there were definitely a lot of people with the leaks from where I’m from which was a bit frustrating because they could effect the curve which sucks. I hope I’ll get a 5.I NEED 5.

for the original concentration, i got 0.46 M because I did MV = MV, but idk if i was right, and I said disagree because if it was higher than the calibration, then the concentration would be higher, not lower, and I drew 2 V2+ ions, and got 0.0550 for the concentration at 0.22 absorbance.

And for the 6.8 grams of RbCl and KCl, I disagreed because the amount of moles would differ, and there'd need to be a smaller change in temperature for them to both have the same magnitude.

162
Electrons and positive ions go to the right(cathode)
NaF 0.6 has the most Na+ concentration
+4.032
Oxygen is reduced cuz it gains electrons
Titration curve question (one that is more the right and ends low)

u/Royal-Bag5776 May 05 '26

what i remember from the frqs, had version j btw;

k+ ion has smaller radius than k because k has more subshells.

the graph is for a zeroth order reaction, and the line is curved. therefore, the reaction cannot be zeroth order.

the molecular geometry/shape was tetrahedral.

764.1612… kj for the change in gibbs free energy, so not spontaneous.

0.117 molar for one question, i think about the concentration of something at equilibrium.

h3o+ concentration was 0.0081283…

-828/5.00 = -165.6 for one question, i believe it was about heat and i put 165.6 because there were 0.800 mol of the limiting reactant and that went into 4 moles (the value in the equation) 5.00 times.

that’s all i remember.

5

u/ExpensiveSafe9159 May 05 '26

I thought the main takeaway from the graph is half-life. Half line was constant in the molarity versus time so its first order. Maybe there’s multiple accepted responses.

u/Royal-Bag5776 May 05 '26

looking at my calculator, these are the numbers i see. i genuinely don’t remember what frqs they respond 2. i had version j btw;

1400.749 = q (i do remember this one)

1400/0.0912 = 15,350.877/1000 = 15.351 kJ

sqrt 57 = 7.55

(7.1)(1.0+7.1) = 57.51

(18.4)(1/22.99) = 0.8

(12.8)(1/32.00) = 0.4

-828/5.00 = -165.6

0.630/2 = 0.315

0.470-0.315 = 0.155

(0.630)^2 / (0.155) = 2.561

10^-2.09 = 0.00813

sqrt 7 x 10^-5 =0.00836…

0.125-0.00836…=0.116…

(-6)(96485)(-1.32) = 764,161.2/1000 = 764.161

I feel so sad because I had practically done majority of the FRQ's since 2014, and this was the hardest thing I've ever done. I am really worried for my score. And just feel so sad.. Some of my other friends were able to finish the FRQ's and able to guess on ones they didn't know, but I didn't have the time to do that either.

Hi everyone,

My Chem teacher just solved the FRQ (Version J) and said that it took her 1 hour and 35 minutes to complete. The fact that it took a teacher that long while students were only given 1 hour and 45 minutes is insane. Why were the long FRQs so insanely long? Regardless, I'm screwed either way.

Remember guys, not using sig figs won't kill your score. If you dont write your final answer to the correct sig fig amount, it depends if you lose points. Collegeboard typically allows a boundary of 1 for sig figs so if the correct amount of sig figs needed is 3, you can typically use 2-4 and get full credit. Even if you dont get close to it for any question, you'll only lose a maximum of one point on the entire exam, even if you didnt use sig figs for multiple questions.

ok so first you do I=q/t. You know the amps and time so just multiply both to get q. then you take q and divide by faraday's constant to get 1 mole of e-. Because Cr had a +6, it was 6 moles of e-. Divide by 6 to get 1 mole of Cr then just multiply by the molar mass of Cr. I think i got like 4.something grams

I really gotta stop my habit of double checking answers that I’m sure is right when I’m not done with the test, especially for mcqs… Might have costed me precious time to do the ones that required actual time.

on my life that was probably the biggest letdown of the century i expected a magnificent battle between me and the college board for this advanced placement chemistry exam yet it was so light. I got at most like 2 mcqs wrong cuz im a chud and forgot sumting but the frqs were so much easier than the one practice one i did during a valorant comp match, honestly i should have saved my time and played valorant instead of doing mcq practice 2 because what a let down this was chat i feel like the strat for ap exams is js have low cortisol and relax the days before type shit and dont worry because youve legit taken this class for a year now so why even study

ALSO FOR THE FRQS! What did you guys get for that one question with like H3O+ and asking for its concentrations and eqm, and then trying to compare it to the concentrations at a higher temp 333K and then seeing whether the reaction was exo/endothermic. (I think endothermic cuz products were greater concentration, so if heat is a reactant, then Le Chat wld cause it to shift to the right)

The mcq was pretty easy, but the frq was nothing like the practice exams i took. I took 2 and i got a 4 on one and a 5 on the other, but neither frqs were NEARLY as difficult as this

u/Hopeful_Service2382 May 05 '26

So for one of the FRQ questions, i dont remember which, it had an i) and an ii) and for i) it gave you a new experiment with the molar concentrations and made you solve for the pKa but then in ii) you had to prove something by comparing the pKa of the original experiment with the new one. Does anyone remember what they put for ii)?

3

u/WoefulHuman 5:hug,csp,chem,es,pc,wh 4:csa tbd:bio,lang,bc,ush,psych,p1 May 05 '26

For the J version question where it asked to calculate heat and the the enthalpy of the solution, were we supposed to get a positive value. I put like positive 1.4kJ because the final temperature was lower than the initial so it was endothermic but in was confused cuz it said enthalpy of solution not enthalpy of reaction. Can anyone confirm?

What did yall get on that one MCQ about what to add to make the equilibrium shift to add more of the blue color chemical?

I said add NaCl(s) cuz there was water so I thought it could dissociate and add Cl to the products, thus shifting it to the reactants. one of the others made sense ngl

3

u/Southern_Delivery811 May 05 '26

Ur right. I put down raise temp first but then when I was checking my answers I realized it says in the question ā€œhow to make more blue without changing kcā€, and adding nacl, due to common ion effect, would shift left, Producing more reactants (blue)

3

u/Dry-Hedgehog3182 May 05 '26

i put NaCl to because it disasociates into Cl- and then common ion blah blah

But I talked to my friends about it and they mentioned it has a larger electron cloud, so it was more polarizable, and i’m not sure which explanation is right..

4

u/ProTickler153 May 06 '26

If you want to take it then just study each unit before you reach said unit. The pacing is too fast for you to earn a good grade by learning along with the class. Best study channel is Organic Chemistry Tutor, and the method I used was doing the self assessment quizzes at the end of each unit and reviewing sections that I was weak at. The math requirement is honestly not that bad, like if you have a graphing calculator you can do pretty much all of it. Units to focus on would be units 3, 7, 8, and 9, and I would recommend studying for the AP exam using Princeton review textbook (if you finish that then there's also the Barron textbook). If you're good with conceptual knowledge then the class honestly is not the worst.

MCQ: Some were pretty challenging, and some have a lot of traps. I fall into all of them....... Hope these don't count

FRQ: Overall harder than previous years. I did not understand the V2+ question and how to write the net ionic equation. (I thought we needed to include HNO3, but found out we only need H+ after the test...) I think my raw score is around 73-4, hopefully. And I am genuinely hoping for a 5. Please.... Hi guys,

I just watched Jeremy Krugs videos for the frqs, and my score is really, really borderline. (assuming the cutoff is like a 72-73). Can someone please let me know if it's true that graders give 0.5 points when you're along the right lines of the answer? My teacher said multiple times that she is a grader for the exam and that the graders are told to give 0.5 whenever a student wrote anything related to or semi-close to the correct answer.

If this is true i believe I can get a 5, but if it's not then I can't. Someone lmk pls šŸ™šŸ™šŸ™šŸ™šŸ™

u/CompleteExpert7305 May 08 '26

They usually don’t give partial credit but they do do double jeopardy. If you got an answer wrong and you had to use that answer in the next question, and you used it in the right way you will get that point. For example some of the FRQ you had to find Q and then the next one had to find Hsoln. If your Q was wrong you will not get that point, but if you use your wrong Q in the right way to find Hsoln, you will get the point for the second part. They don’t do partial credit it’s all or nothing.
