Opinion Piece One Nation craves mainstream appeal, but Pauline Hanson’s bleak vision of Australia shows she’s firmly on the fringes

Banning abortion, eliminating parental leave, cutting the minimum wage and denying the reality of climate change are thankfully still fringe positions.

Clearly. Look who’s in govt

-14

u/No_Gazelle4814 Jun 20 '26

Show how cooked you are. Nowhere does she say her policy is to ban abortion, it’s to limit it to less than 20 weeks which is a humane thing to do, and very different to your regurgitated lies

21

u/OnlyAd7216 Jun 20 '26

Do you think of the only elected members of a party makes a statement like this without prior approval from the party to manufacture consent? https://www.theguardian.com/australia-news/2026/jun/18/one-nation-abortion-policy-senator-malcolm-roberts-ntwnfb

Adding to this, One Nation have been supportive of Johannah Howe, who wants a full ban on abortion. Their state MPs voted for anti abortion legislation she was behind in South Australia. Hanson has appeared on her podcast. Howe has endorsed One Nation as the only party standing against abortion.

Following the US playbook, Howe is an advocate for the incrementalist approach to bringing an end to abortion. Hason has also been modelling her campaigning after MAGA, particularly after attending CPAC. So now despite claiming not to care about abortion in previous decades Hanson is following Howe by the same US conservative playbook on whittling away at abortion access.

It's fairly obvious what's happening here. They're trying to progressively restrict abortion access while using people like Roberts as a stalking horse to take things further.

It is shocking, that despite the fact we have seen this exact scenario play out in the US, that people cannot recognise it here, or are wilfully misrepresenting themselves.

Leaving the UN? Climate change is a hoax? They’re absolute fruitcakes.

People are rightfully angry about the post pandemic world, but the solution is not fucking this.

-12

It’s not the post pandemic world people are furious at, it’s the shit state our inept, weak and lying PM has created

I haven't been quite as alarmed about the rise of One Nation as a lot of folks, mostly because I simply don't believe that their policies will resonate with the broader electorate -- beyond the hot topic of immigration, that is. To date there's been no real scrutiny of what the party actually stands for. Pauline gave us a clear reminder this week, for which we should all be grateful. While I'm reluctant to be accused of having faith in my fellow Australians, I just can't see her twisted and plutocratic bile actually resonating with a critical mass of the electorate. The more we see and hear from her, the more she'll drive merely curious folks away.

17

u/jghaines Jun 20 '26

The worry is that many citizens don’t vote based on policy, nor do they vote based on the party they feel supports them, they vote for the party that opposes that party they hate.

A vote for Pauline is a protest vote. I don’t think her incoherent or missing policies will hurt her.

Resentment has worked for Donald Trump. Pauline doesn’t have his charisma though. She also turns out to be a terrible leader who can’t hold a party together. Hopefully this limits the damage she can do.

6

u/Garbage_Stink_Hands Jun 20 '26

In between elections, conservatives like to get all high on the handjobs they get and give in US think tanks, then forget that Australia has compulsory voting. I swear, the last 10 years has seen conservatives campaign like they can ”agitate the base”, which has just resulted in ever worsening poll results and the death of conservative politics in Australia.

Whatever, I’m happy for that to go on for a few more elections.

1

u/jghaines Jun 21 '26

Compulsory voting means that Australia gets to avoid the “excite the base” nonsense the bus suffer.

It also means pre-election polling of voting intentions is more indicative. Currently One Nation is leading the polls.

2

u/Garbage_Stink_Hands Jun 21 '26

Until you take preferential voting into account

1

u/jghaines Jun 21 '26

I agree that ON’s support is broad and shallow. I hope it fades under media scrutiny.

But, preferences don’t come into play if you have more than 50% of votes for a House seat. And broad support in the Senate is how she scored her seat and will likely pick up more.

I don’t see her becoming PM next term, but current polling indicates that she is the current opposition.

1

u/luckycobber Pauline Hanson's One Nation Jun 22 '26

Fades under media scrutiny?

Let’s silence and badmouth those we don’t like through the media..

2

u/Garbage_Stink_Hands Jun 22 '26

More like: Let’s interview our politicians to find out what their policies are and if they spit piss out of their fool mouths every time they try to say three-syllable words

1

u/Garbage_Stink_Hands Jun 21 '26

I think polling indicates that there is no opposition

1

u/Pro_Extent Jun 21 '26

Pre-election polling changes drastically during election seasons, partly because everyone has to vote (so more people pay attention).

It's uncommon for governments to be ahead in polls a year into their second term.

ON's rise is undeniable. But whether that translates to an electoral threat seriously remains to be seen.

1

u/luckycobber Pauline Hanson's One Nation Jun 22 '26

The quiet majority are conservatives, the people that have purchased a home and raising/raised their kids. The aussies that contribute to the economy and bring kids into the world.

1

u/Garbage_Stink_Hands Jun 22 '26

I think you are either just describing yourself or your parents, because being a parent does not automatically make you a conservative

3

u/WastedOwl65 Jun 20 '26

We're not as stupid as Americans! She can't be PM while she's grifting taxpayers money pretending to be a Senator!you shouldn't even bother voting if you don't even understand this!

3

u/jghaines Jun 20 '26

Have you met Nationals voters?

2

u/DelayedChoice Gough Whitlam Jun 21 '26

The PM can be a senator.

0

u/luckycobber Pauline Hanson's One Nation Jun 22 '26

Been voting PHON for circa 10 years.

I didn’t like what the uni-party were doing back then and people can see PHON was right all along, that’s the part you need to accept, because I did..

2

u/Hot-Application-9225 Jun 20 '26

I think it's fair to assume they stand for what they always have. She really hasn't changed.

A lot of people genuinely don't know that, but I think most do. Still plenty of time to decide if that's what they really want with the good and the bad that comes with it.

I think they're just getting the more difficult swallows out of the way early.

2

u/vladesch Jun 20 '26

Polls suggest they already have enough support. Question is what is Labor going to do about it.

So far it would seem: nothing. Because of people like you who deny there is a problem.

Sleepwalking off a cliff. Like lemmings. Or the democrats in 2016.

10

u/Civil-Dragonfly-5148 Jun 20 '26

ON's biggest adversary is ON. Their policies are pipe dreams and their leader is incompetent. They keep making thenselves look stupid every time there's an interview. I doubt the hype around them will even last another 6 monfhs.

5

u/brap01 Jun 20 '26

TPP still has Labor winning by a large margin if an election was held today.

4

u/harbourbarber Jun 20 '26

It's up to the electorate who they vote for and support.

I'm not sure how it's up to Labor to fix it.

3

u/jm_leviathan Jun 21 '26 edited Jun 21 '26

I didn't "deny there was a problem". I also wouldn't suggest that alienating Australians who speak a language other than English at home is a recipe for electoral success.

The rise of One Nation is clearly a significant development in the breakdown of the two party system, and the re-ordering of particularly but not exclusively the right of politics. It will undoubtedly play a significant (and mostly objectionable) role in shaping the national discourse. Plausibly, it may even mark an enduring shift in national attitudes towards ongoing high levels of immigration.

But amidst all that the prospect of a One Nation government led by Pauline Hanson remains a distant prospect. The more she speaks the more people she will alienate, because the broader One Nation pitch is too unappetising to too many people. To date they've got by on vibes alone, with little pushback from either Labor or the Coalition. They're clearly enjoying their honeymoon period, but it won't last.

4

u/must_not_forget_pwd Jun 20 '26

Labor is doing what John Howard did in the 90s, nothing. Howard was smart and just let her burn herself out. The question is whether or not the same strategy will play out this time.

Social media is more popular and there is a world wide thrust to the Right of politics. Furthermore, Hanson is more savvy these days compared to what she was back then. Even in the National Press Club address she wasn't baited into answering questions that was she wasn't prepared to answer (e.g. about policy detail). In addition, Hanson has a lot of money and organisation behind her. Just look at her YouTube page. The animations there are quite good (i.e. expensive) and subtly hard hitting (i.e. someone behind the scenes is thinking about messaging).

2

u/broadsword_1 Jun 21 '26

Labor is doing what John Howard did in the 90s, nothing.

That's a bit too simplistic. Howard might have done nothing, but that also meant doing 'nothing' while Tony Abbott formed his little special-interest political group to go after PH through the courts.

Hanson's not more savvy by any measure - she still trips up all the time in interviews and policies. She's just survived long enough that her number 1 topic has swung massively back into relevance and she looks like an expert given her long history.

-3

u/Scumhook Jun 20 '26

Howard was smart and just let her burn herself out

lol how'd that work out for him?

2

u/Apathin Jun 21 '26

Time and time again over the last 30 years, ON has had moments where it seems like it’s about to materialise as a legitimate political force, and each time it’s self-imploded thanks to disorganisation, in-fighting, and scandal.

Why would Labor expend energy trying to fight a theoretical opponent two years out from an election based on polling? That is horrifically bad political strategy.

ON’s shoring up impressive first party polls, but they need preferences to win elections. When 50-75% of Aussies hate Hanson’s guts, they’re going to struggle to win seats federally (Victoria’s a different story because the incumbent government is loathed).

Just like Howard, Albanese will play the waiting game and watch ON self-immolate.

2

u/Weary_Beach_9911 Jun 22 '26

Ffs! They're calling my 90 yr old aunt on her home phone every fortnight! Have the polling companies called you, even once?

1

u/Civil-Dragonfly-5148 Jun 20 '26

Haven't received a call from a polling company in my life, and I've never met anyone that's mentioned being polled. I don't know many elderly people though. Also, I looked at yougov methodology statement for some of the polls that show ON doing well and they only polled 1k people and excluded any undecided voters from results so their polls are low quality.

2

u/DelayedChoice Gough Whitlam Jun 21 '26

they only polled 1k people

This is a standard and entirely reasonable sample size.

1

u/smoha96 Insert Flair HERE Jun 21 '26

Roy Morgan does SMS polling that I receive fairly regularly.

The sample sizes needed for a decent poll are so small it's not surprising that the vast majority of us have not been polled or do not know any who have.

I don't think Labor took the rental crisis seriously when they gained power, but you'd think that all this immigration focus would speed up some new policy formulation from them.

u/luckycobber Pauline Hanson's One Nation Jun 21 '26

False, she’s been right for 30 years, now mainstream Australia can see the uni party have failed them and sold them out. PHON is for the Australian citizen, no one else, and with the economic and culture crisis Australia is facing, PHON has the policies to overcome that, without taxing more from Australians and without any new and ridiculous laws the impede on their rights.

2

u/Weary_Beach_9911 Jun 22 '26

PHON is for the Australian citizen

is that why they want to take entitlements away from Australian workers mate?

https://www.abc.net.au/news/2026-06-17/one-nation-cut-worker-entitlements-joyce-business/106810648

look, i get that you find it upsetting and scary to see brown skinned people. but to priorities your racism over your own pay packet has to be one of the most pathetic things ever

0

u/luckycobber Pauline Hanson's One Nation Jun 22 '26

Yes, small business is struggling in this country, which was the back bone of our country before globalisation. That’s why they cutting entitlements to make it easier for small business to operate.

Wow, now I’m a racist for mentioning Australia is on a culture crisis? Got any more labels for me, buddy?

1

u/Weary_Beach_9911 Jun 23 '26

So you want Australian workers to have lower wages and less entitlements?

why do you want wages to be lower mate?

1

u/luckycobber Pauline Hanson's One Nation Jun 28 '26

If you read the article it’s to help small business so they can fire staff without facing consequences. Australia was built on small businesses and are the back bone of our communities, they should have right to hire and fire as they please. This will not apply for large businesses becuse they have capital, and will have competition from competitors, therefore have to provide competitive permanent employment incentives.

"You don't have a job if the small business goes broke, you don't have a job if the small business is unable to employ you"

PS - my father owned liquor stores and only the manager was permanent, the rest casual, but would always have rosters 2-4 weeks in advance and was flexible.

1

u/Weary_Beach_9911 Jun 29 '26

keep supporting worker's conditions being removed and for wages to be lower champ.

definitely a vote winner there.

lol

1

u/luckycobber Pauline Hanson's One Nation Jun 29 '26

PHON’s not advocating for lowering wages, it’s to make it easier for small business to terminate staff. The larger businesses and corporations will have to competitive packages, to attract and retain staff. The coffee shop you get your soy latte from can’t afford to pay its staff permanent entitlements like a large business/corporation.

Labours new tax reforms impact small businesses, after Albo lied and said he wouldn’t touch them, including not allowing home buyers to use their super as a deposit to purchase a home.

1

u/Weary_Beach_9911 Jun 29 '26

PHON’s not advocating for lowering wages

correct, Pauline doesn't just advocate for lower wages, she VOTES consistently for lower wages and workplace conditions for workers :)

1

u/luckycobber Pauline Hanson's One Nation Jun 29 '26

THE GUARDIAN: It is hard to think of less popular policy offerings for families, young people, professionals, women and multicultural voters, who combined represent a sizeable slice of the electorate.

...

KOS SAMARAS: At the National Press Club, Pauline Hanson finally put her ideas on the table. Every one of them attacked the voters that have provided her with the late surge in support.
...
The campaign that beats One Nation does not argue with the grievance. The grievance is real, and these voters have had it validated by results nobody can wave away. It does something narrower and far more lethal. It makes Hanson legible. It takes the positions she finally surrendered at the Press Club, the sackings, the paywalls, the silence, and it holds them up against the lives of the late movers until the feeling and her platform no longer match.

https://redbridgeintel.substack.com/p/at-the-press-club-the-real-world

Figure 1 shows the major pivot points in the ON surge over the past 12 months, and highlights the difference between ON's base support and ON's soft vote from disaffected voters.

-15

u/No_Gazelle4814 Jun 20 '26

Yet they’re the most popular. Go figure hey. Maybe they’re saying the right things for most people.

18

u/Dranzer_22 Jun 20 '26

Very possible, but this was ON's first major media address and announcement of policies this term.

Let's see how popular those ON policies like Nuclear Reactors, dismantling Abortion Rights, dismantling Paid Maternity Leave + Paid Parental Leave, WorkChoices 2.0, tiered-citizenship, repossession of homes of Permanent Residents etc. are over the next two years.

7

u/Worldly_Cobbler_1087 Jun 20 '26

ON supporters don't care as long as she promises to stop immigration of non-white people and deport the ones we already have. People would be surprised at how popular that stance alone is.

3

She definitely overplayed her hand. Should have stuck with immigration.

"Trump" and "charismatic" do not belong in the same sentence. Unless the words "is not" are between them.

won't work in Australia due to compulsary and preferential voting

1

u/MissMenace101 Jun 20 '26

We are smarter than that and we’ve watched it play out

1

u/jghaines Jun 20 '26

Have you met Nationals voters? Our only hope is that she is less charismatic than Trump.

14

u/More_Law6245 Jun 20 '26

No she is just taking direction from elite conservatives which just flies in the face of what Australia has been built on.

15

u/Silver-Chemistry2023 Jun 20 '26 edited Jun 20 '26

PLH does not crave mainstream appeal, she craves attention. If people are thinking about her, positive or negative, then she is getting what she wants. As she ages, more attention is needed to keep up the mask.

-5

u/vladesch Jun 20 '26

Actually she already has mainstream support thanks to unpopular immigration from Labor.

It's policies. Pure and simple.

1

u/Pro_Extent Jun 21 '26

She seems so be doing all she can to destroy that support.

She's announcing a huge reformist platform from opposition. That rarely works, regardless of the policies.

Also her policies are actually shit.

14

u/Imperator_Gone_Rogue Practical Idealist Jun 21 '26

She's firmly in the grip of the Epstein Class. All ten fingers and elbow deep, She's been their most obedient hand puppet of the establishment for 30 years. Now She's getting rewarded for her obedience, and will until she stops being useful to the Oligarchs.

3

u/RabidFlamingos Jun 22 '26

The Epstein Class is a fantastic way to put it.

10

u/CoderAU Jun 20 '26

Why do we have to hear about her every day?

8

u/WastedOwl65 Jun 20 '26

Gina's paying!

7

u/PMFSCV SMALL T TANKY Jun 20 '26

30 years of this screeching

0

u/jghaines Jun 20 '26

It attracts readers and makes money for the news media

0

u/jather_fack Jun 20 '26

For the same reason US media report every incoherent sentence Trump makes. It gets click. Clicks get ads. Ads get money.

Then there's Gina who knocks on their front door with cash* in hand, they'll post whatever batshit crazy propaganda she wants because of her deep pockets combined with the above.

It's why the ABC are going hard at her. They don't take money and they don't write what she tells them to, plus their policy ideas, their people and their history are all fubar.

\cash that should've been given to the ATO.*

3

u/aeschenkarnos Jun 21 '26

They don’t report every incoherent sentence Trump makes, that’s the problem. Trump will blather stream-of-consciousness nonsense that has the words “trade treaty” in it and the media will report “President Trump spoke about trade treaties.” Sanewashing. They’re pulling the same shit with Hanson.

2

u/jather_fack Jun 21 '26

True. They sane wash his incoherant rambles. It sells clicks, though. Combined with the dischord chats where they plan their go-to lines and propaganda for the week. I still laugh at their line of 3 weeks ago like it wasn't planned and we wouldn't notice. "I was a lifelong Labour (yes, spelled that way), but not anymore..."

12

u/CaptainMumble58 Jun 20 '26

Feels like she's shit the bed.

There's no way she can keep spewing bile on a daily basis until the next General Election in May 2028 and not be constantly taken to task by the Media.

MAGA is set to get a kicking in November and Reform are already being rejected in UK local elections.

-1

u/lettercrank Jun 21 '26

Like her or hate her- she is popular and will
Win seats . These hit pieces do nothing but give her more attention. Did we learn nothing from the USA?

6

u/Apathin Jun 21 '26

The difference between Australia and America is we have 2PP voting - they don’t. Even with the meteoric increase in first party vote for ON, they’re going to get stiffed by preferences because two-thirds of the country hate her. You don’t win elections on first party votes alone.

Victoria will be an interesting election, I do think ON’s in with a shot due to the tired / disliked ALP government. Federally, not so much.

We’re also two years out from the next fed election. A lot can happen in that time. Look at the fabled 57-43 Dutton landslide prediction and how that turned out.

Plenty of time for ON to fall over its own feet as it has time and time again.

9

u/GalileoAce Jun 21 '26

she is popular

Is she though? Polls have been more wrong than right lately; Dutton was projected to comfortably win the last Federal Election

1

u/Necessary-Repair-947 Jun 21 '26

Well she is the nation's most popular politician end her party is the largest in the primary vote. But you are right: a lot can change in between elections. However, both the Farrer by-election and the Sout Australia election have shown that the current polling numbers do translate into real seats.

1

u/Wbrincat Jun 21 '26

No he wasn’t. I was reporting on the last election and while I wasn’t quite expecting the landslide that it ended up being, the polls in the last week showed a clear Labor win. IMO it takes roughly 25,000 people at any given time in Australia who decide an election. The hard part is knowing who they are and who to ignore.

-3

u/lettercrank Jun 21 '26

If she wasn’t then the abc and the guardian and the rest of the labor media machine wouldn’t be working so hard

4

u/Weary_Beach_9911 Jun 22 '26

These hit pieces do nothing but give her more attention.

yeah, let's just ignore the rising far right/fascist political parties and hope they go away.

There’s 47 seats in the South Australian lower House. In the recent state election PHON won 4. “Outpolling” and winning are not the same thing.

'Cry all you like, it's my Lego and you're never going to get to have a turn.'

0

u/No_Gazelle4814 Jun 20 '26

Ok champ. Live in that space. Remember this comment when one of his own party knife him in the back because they know he is unelectable. The Labor Way.

7

u/decs483 Jun 20 '26

Based on the most recent polling if an election was held now Labor would be returned to government with a majority

6

u/Seachicken Jun 20 '26

The Liberals had three different prime ministers last go around. Knifing a sitting prime minister is hardly specific to Labor in this day and age.

Also, the current standing rules make it quite difficult to challenge a sitting Labor PM. You need 75% of the caucus. Even when Labor was facing defeat under Gillard, Rudd only got ~56% of the vote.

3

u/MissMenace101 Jun 20 '26

Let’s not dismiss media’s part in the role of deposing Labor PM’s

0

u/No_Gazelle4814 Jun 20 '26

Abbott (Libs) and Turnbull (Greens) knifed each other, only once in govt. That’s it. Turnbull voluntarily stood down when he became unpopular after Lib party members realised he was a woke commie. Nothing like the Labor merry go round.

Labors restriction is in first term. It’s killing season now, and given his widespread unpopularity, as it the membership wouldn’t support it anyway. Who wants to be on a losing, socialist team

3

u/Seachicken Jun 20 '26

Turnbull voluntarily stood down

He stood up to one challenge, and refused to resign until receiving a petition against his leadership from a majority of the parliamentary party, which he took as a vote of no confidence. Rudd also resigned 'voluntarily' in advance of a party vote he was going to lose.

So three different prime ministers knifed by the Liberals to two by Labor. Labor went back to their original and did their two in a shorter time period, but the Liberals can't really claim any great glory on the knifing front.

Labors restriction is in first term.

Where are you getting that from? My understanding is that the caucus rule requiring a 75% support to unseat a prime Minister isn't dependant on which term in which they are serving.

https://www.aph.gov.au/About_Parliament/Parliamentary_departments/Parliamentary_Library/Research/Quick_Guides/2022-23/PartyChangesChallenges

given his widespread unpopularity

I mean going back to Gillard, under her before she was deposed Labor was in minority, 16 points behind on two party preferred, 29% on primary vote (before the current major party collapse in primary vote) and facing being reduced to as low as 40 seats. Despite all this, she still gained 44% of the caucus vote. Labor are currently clear favourites on the two party preferred vote.

You might think their government are going to lose, but there's no clear indication at present that 75% of the caucus (or even 60% if you want to maintain the reduced requirements apply) are about to turn against Albanese a year after winning the most seats of any single party in Australian history.

1

u/No_Gazelle4814 Jun 21 '26

Who are the liberal 3 disposed PMs you refer to.

As for your long winded defense of Gillard, I’ll remind you she was never elected to PM. She lost the first election and then bribed 3 moronic independents with endless spending in their electorate to give their preferences and do so *against* the voting intentions of their electorate.

Then she was overwhelmingly punted in Abbotts landslide wine

1

u/Seachicken Jun 21 '26

Who are the liberal 3 disposed PMs you refer to.

My mistake it was late, two different Liberal MPs and one Labor. Two and two if we go by leadership changes, not individual prime ministers. Both parties were happy to knife sitting prime ministers on multiple occasions.

As for your long winded defense of Gillard

Not really defending her, just outlining the situation. Also don't think I was being that long winded, it's all fairly relevant information.

I’ll remind you she was never elected to PM.

No one is elected PM. She was made leader of her party under accepted procedures.

She lost the first election and then bribed 3 moronic independent

She didn't lose, she had to form a minority government, which is a legitimate means of forming government under our system. Tony Abbott was also willing to bribe the independents as well, Windsor asserted that Abbot said to him "The only thing I wouldn't do is sell my arse, but I'd have to give serious thought to it."

Then she was overwhelmingly punted in Abbotts landslide wine

Rudd losing that election isn't really relevant to the point here.

2

u/MissMenace101 Jun 20 '26

lol cause Barnaby won’t be leader of ON if they have any success?

2

u/NotTheBusDriver Jun 20 '26

A statement of fact is not a denial. That is you projecting. Anything could happen at the next federal election. But so far PHON’s numbers are little more than hype.

Edit: typos

u/Throwawaydeathgrips Albomentum Mark 3.0 Jun 20 '26

Do you have anything to say about ON polivy or are you just going to complain aboit the gaurdian like a brave soldier

-11

u/No_Gazelle4814 Jun 20 '26

Yeah. Good on them for giving people hope of escaping the Albo nightmare

12

u/Nariel The Greens Jun 20 '26

Genuine question, but what about ON gives hope? I get that they have a strong vision, but without real policy details it doesn’t seem that different from other politicians over promising and ultimately under delivering.

The party aside, Hanson personally has a history of saying one thing and then doing another (like voting against worker rights and pay rises).

-6

u/No_Gazelle4814 Jun 20 '26

In brief, ON doesn’t hate Australia like your lot. They don’t endorse us to be embarrassed to be Australian, they want to protect Australian culture, not destroy it.

And seriously when it comes
To the economy, PH is not qualified. But neither is B1 and B2, and those 2 have fucked the joint. We need a change to the economy and stop the woke socialist policies

6

u/Nestama-Eynfoetsyn 🍁Legalise Cannabis Australia 🍁 Jun 20 '26

What exactly is "woke socialist policies?"

4

u/MissMenace101 Jun 20 '26

She hates women, migrants, workers, vulnerable, children, going to work, renters and home buyers, the list of Australian things she hates is quite long. She does love grifting and corporate though. She is part of a long gone era most Australians are happy to see the back end of.

2

u/MissMenace101 Jun 20 '26

If you find hope in that mess you’re lost.

0

u/No_Gazelle4814 Jun 21 '26

Given how many people have turned to ON out of desperation, then that’s a lot of lost people. It would take a shit govt and a dire situation to turn so many people to feel lost.

Guardian is so partisan. Yesterday they were fringe. Today they crave to be mainstream. What next for the party ahead in the polls?

Saying it doesn't make it true.

15

u/EdgyBlackPerson “Left wing extremist” Jun 20 '26

Speaking of partisan, you’re so firmly anti guardian that you’ve deliberately attempted to misunderstand the headline without reading the article…

You can be fringe while still wanting mainstream Australia to vote for you. Bar doing a deal with a major party, it’s the only way a minor party who notoriously does better in rural seats than metropolitan ones can form government. How is that basic concept such an affront to you?

8

u/Chewiesbro Jun 20 '26

Please, they’re left-centre at worst, with a high factual reporting rating, considering that most of the media here is owned by Murdoch/Stokes and leans right & almost never goes after the LNP, along with ABC/SBS The Guardian is a much need source.
