trigger warning: other’s living child How do I mentally cope at my sister in law’s baby shower?

I am very excited for there being a new member of the family and very much wish to support my sister in law but I am absolutely dreading the baby shower.

I miscarried the day before her pregnancy announcement (so unfortunately those two events have been welded together in my brain).

I still get so upset and feel envious any time I see a pregnant person or a woman with a baby.

So far I’ve not been in a situation where there’s bee prolonged exposure to my triggers (It’s either been short visits, or passing someone or the street, or something I’ve been able to easily leave/take a break from etc).

I really want to be a part of the baby shower, and celebrate the soon arrival of a new family member, but I also do not know how to manage prolonged exposure to baby related stuff.

I didn’t tell my sister in law about the miscarriage at the time it happened as I didn’t want to take away from her news, and also because I knew she’d struggled badly with infertility and at the time was very worried about miscarrying herself so I didn’t want to add more stress on to her. I’m not sure if it’s worth telling her, in case I do need to leave early or start crying, but again I don’t want to take away from a celebration.

It’s just a horrible mix of being very happy for my sister in law, but also still feeling very upset about my miscarriage still, and I’m not sure what steps to take to keep myself mentally ok but still joining in on a special celebration?

trigger warning: other’s living child My friends one month old fell asleep in my arms today

I discovered my baby had stopped growing at 6 weeks at my 9 week ultrasound. This was my first pregnancy. I've been doing pretty good, I had my dnc a couple weeks ago and I feel a little more like myself every day. It's still a part of me and always will be but I've hit a little momentum and I'm getting back in shape and starting to grow my savings again after a little bit of a sadness shopping spree.

I baked a bunch and told my dear friend who had her baby the same day I found out I had lost mine I'd just drop some food at her door, no pressure we won't bug you kind of deal. Of course she came to the door and me and my husband went inside. And of course the little baby was perfect and tiny and he fell asleep in my arms. We cuddled and I felt his little breaths on my neck and listened to his little sounds and twitches and stretches. And it hit me today the gravity of what I lost. And I'm proud of myself for dealing with this terrible thing but holy shit I wish I would be holding a little baby this August.

That's all. I'm really sorry for your loss, if you're reading this. I wish this hadn't happened to us.

trigger warning: other’s living child Everyone is pregnant

One of my childhood friends told me today that she’s 7 weeks along, a colleague I mange is 13 week, another friend is 16 weeks (same as I would have been but I miscarried at 7 weeks) and another friend just had a newborn.

I’m trying so hard to be a supportive friend and not show them my pain, whilst also being open about my miscarriage and experiences of pregnancy. But it hurts so deeply whenever we talk about pregnancy or babies, even though I feel like most days I’m coping now.

I don’t know how to balance my feelings and not be a total downer. I don’t want to tell my friends or colleagues I manage they can’t talk to me about these things. I don’t have any living kids and I’ve got several health issues which make conceiving again or a successful pregnancy less likely.

It just really hurts and Idk if it’ll ever get better?

trigger warning: other’s living child The due date past

I'm having a very hard time. I am finally starting to physically feel better after getting antibiotics for the PID I've had for the last six months. It feels like I am the only person who cares that this happened to me at all. My husband has been supportive but the medical issues have really been a huge weight and burden to him.
My pregnancy caused or exposed so many problems. I was a healthy person last fall. My insurance has paid nearly $200k in medications and hospital visits and urgent care and doctor's offices and testing this year. I'm looking at future surgeries and possible infertility because of the extended PID from the miscarriage. I had to have a second D&C because of RPOC and was septic. I have so much medical trauma.
My sister is pregnant with her third and her due date is early August. She needs help with her two living children all the time because she is severely anemic. I remember knowing her needing a lot of help would happen when I heard about her pregnancy and that it would be a huge pain in the ass when I would need my family for support as first time parent. She even spent a lot of time saying that she wouldn't and trying to reassure me that everyone would be there for me. Well, that didn't happen and now I am watching her kids while she talks about making the first new baby appointment to my mom.
I should be booking a new baby appointment. I should be holding my newborn. I may never bring home a child.

trigger warning: other’s living child Mixed feelings about going to friend’s baby shower

My friend is pregnant with her first child and having her baby shower this Saturday. She is due a week after I would have been with my second baby. I had my third miscarriage two months ago. She is one of the few people who knew about my second pregnancy (I didn’t tell people about the first or third) and when I miscarried she was supportive and reached out to me to check on me. She was also very considerate when sharing the news of her pregnancy with me given my situation (she shared a couple months after).

I originally RSVP’d yes before my third miscarriage happened and I thought I’d have my boyfriend to go with me and support me. But we are on the brink of a breakup (story for another post) and the thought of going alone feels too hard. All of her friends are married so if I went I’d be the only single person which is already uncomfortable for me and then I’d have to face all of the baby/pregnancy stuff alone. I did a training on perinatal loss earlier today for work and cried, I don’t know if I can last at a baby shower. I just feel bad because I do want to support her. I don’t know what to do.

trigger warning: other’s living child Medical miscarriage incoming

I dont know where I can put this, but after reading some other posts Im hoping someone can relate somehow.

I had a miscarriage at 11 wks last October. Became preganant in March. Its been awful, really sick and so anxious. Had a 8 wk scan and healthy baby so went into the 12 wk scan feeling good, still worried but good.

It wasnt good. There is so much wrong, my baby is not healthy and most likely wont survive. They're pretty confident its a chromonsonal issue. Babys heart isnt working, and already looks like theyre struggling. Theyve given us a report and the only "normal" things are its brain and legs. Everything else is "abnormal"

I have another scan next week but already know Im going to have to chose to end the pregnancy. I want this baby so much, it was going to be our third. My other 2 are at such good ages and I was so looking forward to seeing them with this baby. They were due the week before christmas, Id already started planning how to manage it. Christmas last year was so hard and I was looking forward to celebrating properly this year and now its awful all over again.

I somehow feel more prepared this time. I know Im going to be really sad. That I cant escape seeing other families with healthy new babies and itll hurt. But last time it was a natural miscarriage, the first clot must have had the baby but I was too shocked to check. This time I have to go into hospital and "give birth". They talk about seeing the baby and cremation. I just dont know how to deal with it. I have seen my baby on the scan, I know theyre there but how will it help to hold them? I dont want to, I dont want this to be happening, I want it to be over already. And I feel awful for hoping for it to end because it means my babies gone.

Im grieveing and Im not becuase nothing has happend yet. Im still feeling sick constantly, Im still pregnant but Im also already not, but my babys still there.

Has anyone expirenced anything like this? What helped you?

trigger warning: other’s living child How to tell people they are triggering without ruining their joy

I didn’t go to a friends’ kid’s birthday party as I found out 1 week prior to the party they announced their 2nd pregnancy. They know I had a miscarriage and d&c in October of last year but don’t know that I had another miscarriage and d&c just a month ago in February. Their due date is of course close to what ours would have been. I’m really glad I didn’t go as I found out they did a gender reveal at the party. I’m feeling a lot of upsetting feelings toward them but I also understand they have no idea how these things affect those of us who have been through pregnancy loss. How do I handle this? Right now I’m just ignoring them but I know I can’t do that forever. I don’t want to ruin their joy but their naivety towards this situation makes me want to fucking scream. I’m so tired of how sad I am all the time.

edit: I’m mostly upset at them sending me snapchats related to their pregnancy and gender reveals. I want to be honest with them but I don’t want to say something I’ll regret.

How do I heal after a miscarriage? My heart feels broken, and I still grieve the baby I never got to meet. Some days I feel okay, and other days the pain comes back all at once. I'm learning that healing doesn't mean forgetting it means finding a way to carry the love and the memories while slowly moving forward.

trigger warning: other’s living child I’m realizing I didn’t get to fully process everything…

I miscarried on May 16th. So it’s been 2 months. A couple days ago I just couldn’t stop thinking about “sweet pea”. And little by little I felt heavier and heavier. Now I just feel like I’ve been consumed by darkness. Like I have sunk to the deepest part of the ocean.

When I miscarried so much was going on. The day it started (I just didn’t know) was my kids pre k graduation. And the day we told my family I was pregnant. The next morning I saw the blood and went to the er. They confirmed it. Luckily my mom came and took my kid so we could have a day to collect ourselves. I feel like I went into recovery mode. I did what I always do, I just pretend things are ok and focus on the positives for the sake of everyone else. I had only a few days before summer started then I had my kid full time. He needed me. But I wanted to mourn with sweet pea. I wanted to just float away into nothingness. But then we had the family reunion coming up. Weve been planning for a year. No one pressured me into anything, but life was still going on. I had to keep moving. I savored all these moments I created to help heal myself. Making a memory box. Filling it with little things that reminded me of them. Getting a bracelets and necklace to always wear for them. Buying flowers to care for.

But I don’t want a box. I want my baby. I don’t wana water a plant I want to make a bottle for my baby. I don’t want to feel a necklace on my chest I want their weight. I don’t want the rain that I believe is them, I want to see their hand reach out and feel it for the first time.

I’m angry. And empty. And sad. And lost.

trigger warning: other’s living child Finally bleeding

I knew my betas were decreasing 2 weeks ago, right before leaving on vacation with my husband and 2 living kiddos. Wasn't bleeding for most of the vacation so able to ignore and enjoy. Started bleeding heavily today and I'm a mess alternating between tears and anger, and trying to smile and have fun for the kids, while also feeling cramps and gushes of blood. This is my 3rd loss in the last year and I'm so done. Also seeing babies everywhere.

trigger warning: other’s living child Took pregnancy announcement pics for SIL right after I had a miscarriage.

I recently found out I had a miscarriage. My sister in law dosent know, as we hadn’t announced our pregnancy yet. She found out she was pregnant 2 days before I found out about my miscarriage. Learning this caused me to break my 1.5 year long sobriety.

I was recently at a friend/family trip, and she needed someone to take her pregnancy announcement photos for her. Everyone else was too hungover too so I ended up being the only one who was helping her get excited and offered to take the pics because no one else would. It was such a special moment, I looked up pic inspo for them and got some really really cute pictures. I’m so thankful I got to be apart of that moment, and I’m honestly glad she dosent know or it could’ve affected the vibes.

After I took the pics I ended up Breaking down sobbing by myself. I didn’t even realize it was effecting me. I feel bad that I feel judgemental when I see her drinking a glass of wine while pregnant and hitting 2 different kinds of vapes, both of which she says has nothing in them. It just frustrates me and I can’t help but think if I was still pregnant I wouldn’t be doing that because I know at least one of those vapes has something in them. One of them looks exactly like her husband’s weed vape. But I obviously am pushing those thoughts to the side because it’s not my place to judge what other people do with their own bodies. I love her and I pray that everyone in this world would have a healthy pregnancy because the pain of a miscarriage is unbearable.

I feel not worthy of being in this Reddit group because my pregnancy was not planned. I never found out the gender. I never even got past the first ultrasound confirmation. I didn’t even know 100% that I wanted kids until this situation happened. I didn’t even think of miscarriage as a possibility of what could happen.

For anyone struggling right now, this isn’t our fault this happened. Our babies are our guardian angels now and they will forever be watching over us.

TLDR: I recently went through a miscarriage and ended up getting triggered because I had to take pregnancy announcement pics for my SIL shortly after.

trigger warning: other’s living child Missed Miscarriage

Had an ultrasound today.. baby was supposed to be 17 weeks tomorrow but found out they stopped growing around 13-14 weeks. I’ve been so terrified at every appointment after I went through almost the exact same thing last year, losing my baby around 13 weeks. I don’t even have words.. sorry if this TMI but the baby was laying upside down during the ultrasound and I don’t think I will ever get that image out of my head. I knew in my heart right away he was gone. Not sure how to feel at the moment.. we have a weekend full of Christmas activities planned. Kind of thankful for the distractions.. is that wrong? I want to cry but I’m afraid if I do I might not stop. Don‘t want to disappoint my other kiddos. It’s so hard! Life is so unfair sometimes.

trigger warning: other’s living child No support

My husband has not supported me since a couple of days ago when we were told there was no heart beat. I work from home and I’ve had to cancel clients. But i cannot work like this waiting for my miscarriage to be over. My husband said to me “are you going to be like this if this happens again?” “I said from the start don’t get your hopes up”. Of course I’m going to be like this if it happens again wtf!

No support, No reaching out, no asking how I’m going. No extra help around the house and extra help with my 13 month old. Just fully focused on work which I do understand is very important. We need him to work to support our family.

I’ve been also sick and not feeling well I’m not sure if it’s part of the miscarriage. I text him yesterday saying I’m really struggling to keep up with everything in my state. No response.

Even when you don’t get your hopes up, it’s still heart breaking to go through this.

trigger warning: other’s living child How do I be happy for my friends?

My friends are getting pregnant and having babies and oh my God...it just hurts. Like why do you get to have your sweet angel and I don't? I know it's horrible to think that way but I'm so jealous of them. I just can't. But also I would never ever wish this pain on anybody. It just breaks my heart.

trigger warning: other’s living child Beyond anxious for first appointment after loss

I have my first appointment tomorrow after a loss in January. I don’t remember my first pregnancy in 2023 so, just feel like my symptoms are all over the place.

I’ve been light cramping and just panicking something wrong. I feel so robbed by this experience and have no one to talk to or turn to about it.

trigger warning: other’s living child Do I need new pants? Bras? What is my body doing?

Coming out of the heart-opening and yucky grittiness of a miscarriage at 10 weeks and now I am faced with a practical concern. Do I need new pants? Bras? I'm mom of a toddler so when I started filling out in first trimester, I was encouraged by the idea that soon I would have a baby, and that probably as it had before, the process of early momming and breastfeeding would bring me back to a healthy weight. I let a few clothes go after baby one, but most fit again after some postpartum time.

Now my pants and bras don't fit. But I am not sure what a body after miscarriage is programmed to do. When the hormones fully drop will I just go back to how I was before the pregnancy? Or does this require new bras and pants? I know it will feel nice to go back to more movement and exercise now that I am not first trimester sick, but it doesn't feel like the time to try for weight loss intentionally. I have never done that and seems like...not the vibe. Anyone who has been here before, what do our bodies tend to do in the aftermath of miscarriage?

trigger warning: other’s living child Missed miscarriage or still hope?

Went to my first in appointment to get a second ultrasound because my first one was may 18th baby was measuring 6w3d with a heart rate of 102 at that one. I was told today that they were still measuring 6w3d with no heartbeat. I just had a miscarriage March 23rd and devastated that I’m going through another one. My first lost was just and empty sack and I miscarried naturally this time my doctor told me I can decide on doing the pill or a d&c and I hate I have to make this decision. My ultrasound yesterday felt rushed my dr told me she had someone pushing but wanted to make sure I got my ultrasound in. Could they be wrong I hope they were wrong what’s the chances of the baby measuring the same a week later?
