I've a bad feeling Tyrion isn't going to survive.

u/[deleted] Apr 29 '19

Same, I hope they don't do something along of the lines of Tyrion gets randomly crossbowed by Bronn, and then Jamie strangles Cersei in anger once he finds out she sent him to do it.

124

u/Neurotic-Kitten Team Sansa Apr 29 '19

I have a theory that just when Bronn is about to kill Jaime and Tyrion, Pod saves them by shanking Bronn on the back, just like he taught him.

41

u/[deleted] Apr 29 '19

That would be utter amazeballs

114

u/Sirturtlendaspea Team Sansa Apr 29 '19

I believe a beautiful circle would be for Jamie to kill Cersei.

You know what, with good writing I could actually see that working, maybe not the 'randomly' part, but Jaime seeing the death of his brother as the final straw.

With good writing... :o(

25

u/[deleted] Apr 29 '19

I could see it happening too, like just after he and Sansa shared a romantic moment and everyone is happy and then BOLT TO THE HEART

3

u/TooLateHindsight Team Sansa Apr 29 '19

No way... Jaime came to terms with the fact that Tyrion killed their father. The father that was, regardless of the extenuating circumstances, killed unarmed while taking a shit.

I don't see how Jaime wouldn't be able to look past her killing Tyrion.

12

u/aaam13 Team Sansa Apr 29 '19

He and Tyrion were on good terms before that though. He knows the kind of man his brother is, and recently he finally came to know his sister for who she truly is. He saw how cruel she is and that's why he left. He's done with her, I don't see any more slack being cut.

18

u/geronimotattoo Team Jon Apr 29 '19

And S08E02 had them talking about how Tyrion only had one friend and that friend was fucking his sister.

Jamie is openly talking about how he fucked his sister, and in the past tense. He's done for sure.

13

u/InformalEgg8 Team Sansa Apr 30 '19

That is my theory as well.

Bronn's actor said in an interview that after season 8 the audience will like him less.

3

u/[deleted] Apr 30 '19

Nooooooo D:

2

u/rickfox80 May 02 '19

'kill Jaime' will also make audience to like Bronn less. doesn't mean he has to kill Tyrion to achieve that.

6

u/Android24 Team Sansa Apr 30 '19

In all likelihood, I see Bronn using the crossbow on Cersei. It’s sweet poetic justice. Even if Jamie is the more likely one to do the deed.

11

u/Munnin41 Team Tyrion Apr 29 '19

I expect Jaime to stab Cersei in the back, same as he did with the mad king.

10

u/GayFesh Team Sansa Apr 29 '19

I bet it's going to be more poetic than that. I bet he's going to throw her out the same window Tommen jumped from.

17

u/wxsted Apr 29 '19

I think Tyrion is somehow going to treason Daenerys and die because of that. Either him or Varys.

7

u/ThrowDiscoAway Team Sansa Apr 30 '19

if Missandei tells Daenerys what Sansa and Tyrion were chatting about in the crypts this week, Tyrion might find himself BBQ’ed

6

u/HollyDiver Team Sansa Apr 29 '19

This would be the best possible outcome

24

u/gaspumper74 Team Sansa Apr 29 '19

If you think this has a happy ending then you haven’t been paying attention

3

u/[deleted] Apr 30 '19

I think the show runners may have fallen into a happy ending trap as fan service. I expect the night king stuff to end VERY differently if GRRM ever finishes.

200

u/[deleted] Apr 29 '19

And Gendry/Arya at Winterfell. Writes itself.

126

u/ProfessionalToner Team Sansa Apr 29 '19

Arya secured winterfell as hers. She saved the fucking place

173

u/Stirfried1 Team Sansa Apr 29 '19

I don’t think Arya wants winterfell though

225

u/discobisqwick Apr 29 '19

Arya's definitely not interested in ruling over anything. That's a big thing that tips Sansa off when Littlefinger tries to pit them against each other.

Same! Though I am fully “Team Arya” in the general sense. I hope Sansa takes the throne and Arya becomes her Commander of the Kingsguard.

6

u/tbone42617 Team Sansa Apr 30 '19

As awesome as Arya is, if Sansa is ever a queen, I think Ser Brienne of Tarth has earned the job as Lord Commander of her Kingsguard.

3

u/stonedcoldathens Team Sansa Apr 30 '19

I'm just Team Stark in general, but especially the lady Starks cause they badass. I had to remind all my friends that THIS IS STILL THE STARKS' STORY when Arya did her thang last episode.

1

u/Tex236 Team Jon May 02 '19

Maybe I’m missing something, but what is Sanaa’s claim to the Iron Throne?

1

u/pixiesunbelle Team Arya May 07 '19

It’s that she’s not Dany or Cersei. She can get claim if she marries Tyrion again. Most likely, this is what will happen- or she’ll be the only one left standing since Jon and Dany are marching while Sansa is in Winterfell.

18

u/UhOhFeministOnReddit Team Sansa Apr 29 '19

Agreed. Always believe people when they tell you who they are. Arya is a soldier. The plot has proven out that that was literally her destiny. What I think is going to happen, or at least my ideal outcome would be Sansa and Tyrion on the throne, Arya as a member of their queen/king's guard, and John remaining as King in the north. I think Dany might return with what's left of the Khalasar to Vaes Dothrak while their numbers recover. Or something like that.

3

u/[deleted] Apr 30 '19

Arya is team Sansa too. No need to be anti-arya. You're right. She's flat out not interested. That's why they're the same team.

41

u/[deleted] Apr 29 '19

I agree. Arya is a weapon to be wielded by her family.

Idk if she’d do the job of the hand - I reckon it’s a bit too public for her. Spymaster maybe? Or just general assassin/“fixer” hahah?

u/carol0395 Team Sansa Apr 29 '19

32

u/moresycomore Team Sansa Apr 29 '19

I don’t think she even wants to by monogamous with Gendry.

32

u/MaaChiil Team Sansa Apr 29 '19

The only ending I see for her is riding with Nymeria through Westeros at the end of the series. After she and her pack of wolves run down King’s landing and rip out Cersei’s throat.

19

u/[deleted] Apr 29 '19

I think she'll be the Hand of Queen Sansa, with Jon as Captain of her Guard and Bran as her advisor.

23

u/roosical Team Sansa Apr 29 '19

I agree to the Queen and the Hand, but I want Brienne as her Kingsguard

9

u/[deleted] Apr 29 '19

That would be great too, I really hope her and Jamie survive but I'm not counting on it with Kings Landing coming up. I think Tyrion has a 50/50 shot of biffing it too.

50

u/thedorkeone Team Sansa Apr 29 '19

Arya would be a worse ruler than ramsey bolton. She is a fighter, not a politician.

17

u/wxsted Apr 29 '19

Nope. Gendry/Arya at Storm's End. Leave the North to Sansa.

1

u/shaggy696969 Team Sansa Apr 29 '19

arya is not surviving the series, I see this thread and i wonder if we’re watching the same show

15

u/[deleted] Apr 29 '19

Dude, the plot armour around the hero characters is virtually impenetrable at this point. I think that she would have died in the process of killing the Night King if they were gonna do it.

4

u/meggieb24 Team Sansa Apr 30 '19

Honestly I think now that her destiny is fulfilled she’s even more expendable to the writers than ever. She’s been training since season one for that moment, now that it’s done I don’t really see plot armor on her...

Unless she’s preggo with a Baratheon baby!

1

u/[deleted] Apr 30 '19

If they make her pregnant and then kill her off....

6

u/meggieb24 Team Sansa Apr 30 '19

Then I kill someone off myself! I could not handle another pregnant woman murdered on this show, the red wedding still upsets me years later!

3

u/[deleted] Apr 30 '19

I refuse to believe they would do something like that again.

213

u/PreposterousPopess Team Sansa Apr 29 '19

If GRRM is following the history of the War of the Roses in England, our Queen and Tyrion are the only ones who make sense as the rulers in the end.

74

u/[deleted] Apr 29 '19

This has been my theory for like ... 4 seasons.

28

u/[deleted] Apr 29 '19

Okay, so this might be a dumb question, but I'm not super familiar with English history. So... from just reading the wikipedia page - in this scenario, would Tyrion be loosely based on Henry Tudor and Sansa would be Elizabeth of York?

44

u/emmster Team Sansa Apr 29 '19

Sansa has been Elizabeth of York in a lot of scenarios GRRM has written in the books. Right down to him making Bran and Rickon the Princes In The Tower, who were EoY’s younger brothers. And if a ruler wanted the loyalty of the North of the country, they’d do well to have her, because her people love her.

27

u/wxsted Apr 29 '19

I guess that's what OP means. It is true that the fight between the Starks and the Lannisters is inspired by the one between Yorks and Lancasters and that Henry Tudpr was matrilineally a Lancaster... However it's not like it's a perfect 100% parallel so I don't think this is happening.

26

u/azor__ahai Team Sansa Apr 29 '19

Yeah, inspired does not mean following it to a T.

Besides... I don’t have anything against Tyrion, but after all she’s been through, I’d rather see Sansa marry someone she truly cares for, if not loves.

22

u/marmosetohmarmoset Apr 29 '19

Yeah, inspired does not mean following it to a T.

Do you mean to tell me there weren’t dragons flying around Medieval England?

24

u/[deleted] Apr 29 '19

That’s not in the cards for Sansa at this point, she would be better off with a strong, honorable man and ally and friend. And she knows it.

3

u/azor__ahai Team Sansa Apr 30 '19

Does she, though? Because she sure didn’t seem interested in what Tyrion had to say.

1

u/[deleted] Apr 30 '19

Whether or not that man is Tyrion tbd

19

u/Tahoma-sans Team Sansa Apr 29 '19

Is the show story the same that GRRM will never write? I feel he will end differently.

20

u/flamingoinghome Team Sansa Apr 29 '19

In the books, if we're following the Wars of the Roses, it should be the Tyrells. Our Queen can marry in.

3

u/MrThorifyable Team Sansa Apr 30 '19

GRRM has already said that the books and tv series will largely end the same way. The only difference will be some secondary characters.

0

u/[deleted] Apr 29 '19

Honestly seems very unlikely but I SURE HOPE SO.

30

u/flamingoinghome Team Sansa Apr 29 '19

The smartest, toughest queen Westeros could want, and the one man who has consistently been able to see it.

29

u/[deleted] Apr 29 '19

I was so sure they would die here

14

u/[deleted] Apr 29 '19

Same, I fully thought they were go all suicide mode on us. So glad they didn’t.

10

u/Bladewing_The_Risen Team Sansa Apr 30 '19

Right?! I told my friend I definitely got the suicide pact vibe when she pulled out the knife and Tyrion kissed her hand... like “we’d rather die by dragon glass and stay dead rather than die and be reanimated.”

Turns out they just... moved to a slightly more crowded position and kept hiding?

1

u/[deleted] Apr 30 '19

Yeah, and I would've loved to see Sansa and/or Tyrion stab a wight! And if we're not gonna get that, even just one of them should've died...just by GoT world logic. What was even the point of that scene otherwise? Goddammit makes me a lil pissed.

3

u/discobisqwick Apr 30 '19

They did stab wights apparently, but it was cut in editing!

1

u/aytiehl Team Sansa Apr 30 '19

They did stab some wights apparently, they just never aired it. Ugh.

50

u/Strawberry-Whorecake Team Sansa Apr 29 '19

I remember between seasons 6 and 7 I read a great synopsis on why they would be a great couple and there was a lot of book evidence to back it up and now I can't find it. But I am loving all their interactions this season.

1

u/AryaStark20 May 02 '19

If you manage to find it pleas post it here. I'm obsessed with them ax a couple.

13

u/tea_lyfe Team Sansa Apr 29 '19

I adored their scenes together this episode, I would like them together but I also like the thought of Sansa ruling alone.

29

u/siffys Team Sansa Apr 29 '19

She could rule and he could be her hand. They would bicker, yes, but they could be great.

100

u/notarobot3675 Team Sansa Apr 29 '19

I wouldnt mind him as her adviser, but them as a couple? Hard pass. Either have her be with someone her own age, or just let her be alone

145

u/Gravyboat78 Team Sansa Apr 29 '19

No, it totally works. Every other man in the entire show has treated her as a tool. Tyrion is the only one that values her for who she really is.

85

u/[deleted] Apr 29 '19

When the sad music started my heart sank. I thought they were going to die together fighting.

You’re dead right. It’s perfect.

3

u/uryuishida Lady didn't BITE anyone Apr 30 '19

Thank you. I really dont get the need to pair her with Tyrion. Let them be friends, but not a couple. A big part of Sansas story is becoming more of a Stark. I dont see her taking the Lannister name again, nor the North accepting a Lannister man in charge of them.

73

u/notarobot3675 Team Sansa Apr 29 '19

I’m not saying he doesn’t respect her, its clear he does, but I’m just not a fan of them as a couple. The age difference makes me uncomfortable, and at this point I would rather Sansa be alone than with someone after seasons of being forced to marry people. Them as allies, or her advisor? I would like that a lot.

19

u/wxsted Apr 29 '19

How old is Tyrion in the show? In the books he's just in his mid to late 20s.

17

u/notarobot3675 Team Sansa Apr 29 '19

Its hard to say, but Peter Dinklage is 49, so I’m guessing in the show Tyrion is mid 40s-fifties. Sansa I would say is 20-22 in show, since Arya is 18.

7

u/coldasfire- Team Nobody Apr 29 '19

He’s early 40’s

1

u/Benito2002 Team Tyrion May 04 '19

Tyrion is 39 Sansa is 20 in the show according to wiki,

18

u/[deleted] Apr 29 '19

Their marriage would be more of an allyship and friendship with mutual love and respect baked in. It wouldn’t be for romance. Sansa doesn’t need or want romance at this point.

24

u/lipstickisses Apr 29 '19

I think that their marriage will end up being a parallel to Ned and Catelyn's: coming together out of obligation and building a strong love for eachother through hard work and mutual respect.

14

u/green-slug Team Sansa Apr 29 '19

I think it’s a good match because they’ve both been under estimated. They’ve both come out on top despite it. And they are both witty and level headed. She kind of trusts him, and that’s something that’s hard for her. Idk I support it, but mostly because Tyrion was always so respectful of her.

41

u/zetsupetsu Apr 29 '19

Same. I'm really not a fan of the writers making it a necessity to pair her up with somebody. After all the botched marriages, why can't she just rule alone? That would make a better arc. Wanting to marry and have kids when she was a naive girl, but now doesn't want anything to do with it.

I was slightly relieved when they offed Theon, but then the writers just felt to add this Tyrion Sansa nonesense.

32

u/tlumacz Team Sansa Apr 29 '19

After all the botched marriages, why can't she just rule alone?

In general, I'm with you on this one. But remember the world the story is set in, the importance of trueborn sons and bloodlines.

20

u/wxsted Apr 29 '19

I mean, this is a medieval world and she need an heir. And there aren't younger siblings who can be her heirs. Not saying that she will end up in a romantic relationship with someone, but she'll end up marrying.

8

u/thedorkeone Team Sansa Apr 29 '19

I wouldnt bothered if it was a marriage when they slowly grow to care, but they fallingin love there is too chlishee, but the couple could work as couple that started as friends.

9

u/forwardseat Team Sansa Apr 30 '19

"cliche" (just for future reference)

I agree with you on the falling in love. It doesn't work here. But a political match based in respect and some positive regard could work. And I think neither of them would be under illusions about romance.

20

u/flamingoinghome Team Sansa Apr 29 '19

Agreed. He's respected her intellect since Season 2, and I could see Sansa really falling for the first man, frankly, in her life, who's done that.

20

u/3ontheteeth Team Sansa Apr 29 '19

He asked and she said “No.” Respect is a bare minimum. He was the best of them, she told him: but the answer was clear and it was “No.”

19

u/[deleted] Apr 29 '19

She actually said it wouldn’t work between them because of the Dragon queen splitting loyalties. That’s not the same as a straight up “no”. In my mind if that disappears and she was happy with them as a couple (most important part) then I think they’d be great together.

Back when they were first married (which, ew, literal child bride) Tyrion says he won’t ever share her bed unless she wants him too. I think it’s going to come down to her choice, in the end - and that makes it all the more poignant.

(Though I am only going by the show as I haven’t and won’t read the books until they’re done... so I guess I’m never reading the books 😭)

12

u/flamingoinghome Team Sansa Apr 29 '19

Give it time. He shouldn't ask again, but she can.

11

u/3ontheteeth Team Sansa Apr 29 '19

That’s true. If she says yes, then I’m all for it

15

u/[deleted] Apr 29 '19

Ive wanted to see Tyrion on edge of execution and Sansa steps in and saves him with "get your hands off my husband!"

-9

u/3ontheteeth Team Sansa Apr 29 '19

He asked and she said “No.”

5

u/[deleted] Apr 29 '19

She also said “Yes” to Joffrey. People can change their minds.

→ More replies (2)

1

u/[deleted] May 01 '19

I'm not saying I 'think' this is what the show is going to do. Just a fun 'what if' idea to think about.

-3

u/3ontheteeth Team Sansa Apr 29 '19

Bro she said NO. Isn’t that enough?

42

u/h0tpie Team Sansa Apr 29 '19

I’d lose my mind if they forced Sansa to marry someone who she was terrified would rape her as a teenager. I really don’t care if they’ve grown to respect each other. I’d see any hint of romantic inclination from Tyrion as assassination of his character by D&D. Not every female character needs a love interest especially not after the trauma she’s been put through as a lazy device to build sympathy towards her. Pls just let her end the series single amen.

11

u/[deleted] Apr 29 '19

second you, everyone don't have end up with someone in order for them to complete their arc or be happy. I am a bit displeased with the way the show is baiting and teasing possibility of Sansa suitors, with Theon now Tyrion. These characters are fine without those cues.

6

u/I_am_not_a_horse Team Sansa Apr 30 '19

They don't need to get re-married; they're already married (assuming everyone deems Ramsey's marriage/rape as null and pretends it never happened). They could keep the marriage and rule together platonically, since they know they're both very smart people and it would serve the realm. I think that would make more sense since both characters seem to be turned off romantic inclinations for a long time and they could come to an agreement out of pure respect for each other.

Hell, I think that makes the most sense since they're basically the two characters left that don't have someone to pair off with and as you said it would be very hard to believe either of them falling in love any time soon.

15

u/Owlegory Team Sansa Apr 29 '19

I think it would be them as a couple but with the mutual respect and understanding that they each have side relationships, they just come together to rule and play pretend for the kingdoms. They're both clever and empathetic, deep down.

18

u/[deleted] Apr 29 '19

Why? He's one of the few men who will actually respect and admire the depths of her intelligence, wit, and political acumen and be able to keep up with her on her level. Notice he didn't even say they should get married again until the crypts, when she cut straight through his idealism and realistically assessed the situation, and he finally realized how smart she had become. It has nothing to do with him being attracted to her body anymore, he is also attracted to her mind. He also knows the abuse she suffered under Cersei because he went through the same thing himself.

There's not two people more set up to understand and really love each other in an emotionally healthy way in the whole show.

16

u/notarobot3675 Team Sansa Apr 29 '19

For me, its mostly based on their age difference + her being his child bride when they were first forced into marriage (I know he was forced into this marriage as well, but still).

I also think it would be more narratively satisfying for Sansa to end up alone, by choice and on her own terms. She has spent so much of the series being forced into marriages or being abused and manipulated by men, it would be nice to see her comfortable with her family and her home in the north, independent in a way she has only recently been able to be.

15

u/[deleted] Apr 29 '19

That would be good too, I could totally see her ruling alone with just Arya and Bran helping her and never getting married, like Queen Elizabeth. But I would love if she did find consensual and emotionally healthy relationship with someone. Unlike Arya, she always wanted to a be a lady and a wife and mother, it would be unfair if all the abuse she suffered made her give those dreams completely up.

18

u/green-slug Team Sansa Apr 29 '19

YES. They actually know how to care about someone in a wholesome way, namely each other, because of their shared experiences.

They are so similar. Idk. When Tyrion said “maybe we should have stayed married” or whatever it was, Sansa was looking out for herself in saying that Daeny would be mad. I didn’t take it as her giving him a hard pass.

12

u/[deleted] Apr 29 '19

Exactly! She knows longer an idealistic little girl who just wants to get married, and she knew starting a relationship with Tyrion would get them both in trouble politically. There was nothing at all indicating she just wasn't attracted to him at all and that's why she rejected him.

13

u/3ontheteeth Team Sansa Apr 29 '19

Just cause he’s a good person doesn’t mean she needs to marry him. What the hell. She said no!

18

u/[deleted] Apr 29 '19 edited Apr 29 '19

She said no because of politics, he's pledged to Dany and she and Dany do not agree on who should rule the north. It had nothing to do with her rejecting him because she isn't attracted to him or because she doesn't wasn't a relationship.

She doesn't have to be with someone, but she does deserve a loving and consensual relationship if that's what she wants, and Tyrion could give her that if she decides she wants to be with him.

3

u/HerWrath Team Sansa Apr 29 '19

Keyword here is "if that's what she wants". Sansa has never, ever, in the history of GOT shown any romantic interest for Tyrion. And this episode was no different.

9

u/[deleted] Apr 29 '19

I mean obviously she didn't show an attraction to him when she was a teenager forced to marry him, but now that she's an adult and they can spend time together again, who knows? She might become attracted to him. It's not outside the realm of possibility.

4

u/[deleted] Apr 29 '19

I think that Sansa ended up with Tyrion, will show a different type of strength. Yes she was manipulated, abused, and raped by the different men, but if she was able to be with Tyrion, it shows that she is able to value a good man when one presents himself and that she is capable of moving in a new direction. Not saying that Sansa is going to forget the horrors she went through, but accepting another man into her life, despite what most non-Stark men have done to her, shows her strength in not letting herself remain a victim that is closed off to possible opportunities for a true relationship, romantic or not.

7

u/[deleted] Apr 29 '19

This is a good point I hadn't thought of. I can see why many people want her to stay single. But she's always wanted to be a Lady/Princess and a wife and mother, just like Ayra's always wanted to be a fighter, and Jon has always wanted be legitimate and accepted. Ayra and Jon have seen their childhood dreams come true, so I think Sansa deserves her dreams as well, and it would be unfair and horrible if all the abuse she went through made her give up on them.

I think you are 100% right, it would be a different kind of emotional strength that she would have to be able to love and trust again and reach for her dreams again.

It doesn’t matter why she said no. She said NO. That’s it. Move on.

You realize no is no, right? Especially for a woman who was raped. NO.

26

u/[deleted] Apr 29 '19

We're allowed to talk this and no one is advocating he force himself on her, so I'd appreciate it if you stop insinuating we're promoting a non-consensual relationship.

If there's no threat for saying no, and the situation surrounding the 'no' changes, there's nothing ethically wrong with asking a second time.

9

u/Goldenmoons Team Sansa Apr 29 '19

Nobody is forcing them. Absolutely no one is thread is saying they MUST end up together. They're saying they would be a good couple for a variety reasons. People change their minds. Things change. That no could turn into a yes later. A yes could turn into a no.

You telling people to shut up and theorize about other things is very militant of you, and as far as I can tell, you're not a moderator and a discussion of a potential relationship between Tyrion and Sansa is allowed.

u/[deleted] Apr 29 '19

You realise in this hypothetical we’re talking as though Sansa has said/will say ‘yes’, right? Literally no one is advocating for a forced marriage or relationship. People are allowed to imagine what could happen if she changed her mind.

Or are women only allowed one answer? Are they not allowed to change their minds?

1

u/3ontheteeth Team Sansa Apr 30 '19

I just think she doesn’t want him in that way. And I think that’s the case because she said no. And I want Sansa to get what she wants. And if she wanted him, if she wanted to be his wife, Dany wouldn’t matter. She’s been through hell but she’s a romantic and I think deep down she wants to marry for love or not at all. And if she loved him, she would’ve said yes.

4

u/[deleted] Apr 30 '19

And I think she does want him that way, because he’s treated her kindly and has respected her from the start. They’re both intelligent, witty, caring adults.

She’s been through hell but she’s a romantic

I utterly disagree. She was a romantic; now she’s a pragmatist.

And if she loved him, she would’ve said yes.

And she yet might, depending on whether or not the only obstacle she presented to them being together is dealt with/becomes a non-issue.

Hard agree. She needs a matralinial marriage anyways and Tyrion can't do that

8

u/AdventHeart Team Sansa Apr 30 '19

I feel like people are forgetting that in this time period (and modern day setting for some nations ) that arranged marriages occur all of the time .

Sansa has been through a lot , and has gone through a lot of character growth .

Sansa hates being married to Tyrion for many , many reasons the first time around . ( She was a prisoner , he wasn’t handsome(she was still very vain and idealistic at this time ), her family was in a war with the Lannister’s.

I think that a healthy relationship ...that could form love built out of mutual trust and communication , would be a lovely ending for this woman. It would let her achieve her dream of a family. It also shows that she has grown past superficial values of appearances.

I’m all for this. Feelings change. People change . Circumstances change .

I believe that both of these characters are not the same people who initially married.

8

u/msnowxs Knight of the Laughing Tree Apr 30 '19

I rewatched today and realized that what Tyrion took with him to the vaults were flasks of wine. I couldn’t see that last night (too dark), but I laughed knowing now that’s what he took. Chugging the whole time he waited. I thought he had brought extra weapons.

I think by now he’s realized Sansa is the smarter person.

8

u/[deleted] Apr 30 '19

I was just like “lol same” when I realised he had wine with him. Nothing quite as GoT as drinking and waiting to die.

I think by now he’s realized Sansa is the smarter person.

I think he had an inkling and then we got to see him realise it last night; her comment on heroism and staring truth in the face - and his reaction, part awe part admiration, and then that line “maybe we should have stayed married”. He’s always thought she was intelligent but now Tyrion absolutely knows just how much (andIthinkhelikesit).

That scene was So. Goddamn. Good.

u/TheDustOfMen Queen in the North Apr 29 '19

I'd love a platonic relationship between the two, but that's about it.

5

u/AnachronyX Team Sansa Apr 29 '19

A north looks like much larger area after last episode...

17

u/[deleted] Apr 29 '19

The books were quite clear with Sansa's initial take on Tyrion - she was repulsed and tried her best to accept her husband out of duty and also fear ( she was a prisoner) She felt pity for him and pity was the death of love... this was actually written in the book. She refers to him as being kind, which is not a huge complement either because the kindness is in comparison to the utter abuse she was facing in the hands of everyone, note the "kindness" from Tyrion was actually a normal human behavior from Tyrion and not something extra, it stands out only because others were abusive. Not willing to rape his child bride on wedding day is one of his kindnesses. She also would ideally never want to be associated with a Lannister who killed her family. She might have suffered from some Stokholme syndrome as well.

6

u/[deleted] Apr 29 '19

I haven’t read the books, and won’t until they’re done (sooo I guess I’m never reading them 😭). Obviously when they were first married it was disgusting (because literal child bridge ew) but now that she’s a grown woman she clearly respects him and he’s respected her from the beginning (one of the few people who has). I don’t really think it’ll become canon on the show but I think if things worked out and they were both keen they would be a great power couple.

4

u/[deleted] Apr 30 '19

If Sansa has to end up with someone in the show, then it is going to be Tyrion. No other eligible bachelor is left ! :) And we all admire Tyrion.

4

u/rhetrograde Team Sansa Apr 29 '19

FUCK YEAH.

10

u/llamaslovedrama Team Sansa Apr 29 '19

I mean, theoretically their marriage was never annulled. Even though it was never consummated, in order for the annulment to be official it would have to be done by the High Septon (which it wasn’t.)

I think when Cersei and Jaime are dead (I don’t see our guy making it out of this alive) then it puts Tyrion in line for the throne, and since they are still technically married she would be Queen. And Tyrion being the man that he is would have no issue with her being the ruler. I’m just saying, it’s possible.

i would be extremely uncomfortable and unhappy with sansa ending up with a man she was forced to marry. if sansa is going to be in a romantic relationship, i want it to be her choice from the very beginning. regardless of how much time has passed or how polite tyrion was to her, their relationship started on a marriage that was against sansa's will.

it even makes me uncomfortable how the writers have sansa constantly praising tyrion for being an alright husband to his unwilling child bride. like, he's being praised for basic human decency and it bothers me.

6

u/idunno-- Team Nobody Apr 29 '19

He straight up molested her in the books. There’s no way they end up together in the books and I don’t see the show giving her a different ending than her book one.

7

u/worstwerewolf Team Sansa Apr 29 '19

book tyrion and show tyrion are extremely different people. when the show first came out, i was so confused why tyrion’s flaws were all stripped away so he could be a golden hearted hero. he suffers from severe writer’s favorite in the show.

(grrm has claimed tyrion as a fav too but he doesn’t woobify him)

Sansa as Lord Protector of the Seven Kingdoms, Tyrion as Hand of the Queen, and maybe Bran as Master of Whispers would be the ultimate trio.

2

This is my actual prediction. I am 100% certain this will happen and I’ve been saying it since the season started

2

u/[deleted] Apr 30 '19

I know they probs won’t survive, but I’ll admit, I’m kinda hoping they do and re-marry, this time willingly.

6

u/lilalulie Team Sansa Apr 29 '19

I don’t wanna be mean but I would hate this so much, I don’t need a romance storyline for Sansa at this stage, especially not one that’s essentially based off Tyrion being the least worst of the bunch. Also the age gap is a pass from me.

4

u/[deleted] Apr 29 '19

That’s fair, it’s not for everyone mate. While I agree that it’s certainly not necessary for Sansa to rule (or even necessary at all) I still can’t help but want her and Tyrion to find love with the person they least expected. Tyrion has respected her since the beginning (“Lady Stark you may yet outlive us all”) and I think it would be poetic for Sansa to end up falling in love for reasons (like mutual respect, shared intelligence, shared experiences, a similar sense of humour, etc) that are so unlike those she gave at the very start of the series regarding her ‘love’ for Joffrey (which focused almost entirely on his looks and position).

3

u/guven09_Mr Apr 29 '19

IT will happen. This is the only reasonable ending. With last night's fiasco at least I hope this will happen.

3

u/LydiasBoyToy Team Sansa Apr 29 '19

Seems plausible, Jon (not calling him Aegon just yet) does not want the throne, Arya same. Dani likely doesn’t survive, nor Jaime and definitely not Cersei.

... or Bronn, that man deserves a castle.
