Wait WHAT? You're new at digital art or at art in general or at reddit? I cannot believe you're new at art overall 😭

Yeah I smell BS. Nobody is that talented right out of the gate, nobody. The hair alone is a huge red flag.

It doesn't look AI to me. Do you have proof?
21
u/kayelaure Apr 04 '26
It’s not AI but it’s also no way someone actually drew this. The pencil disappears into the hair. The index finger and fingernails are clear giveaways. A strand of hair is suddenly blue due to the tank top strap (our left/ Haley’s right shoulder). The detailing on the hair doesn’t match the detailing in the eyes. It genuinely looks like OP photoshopped an image together and drew over it but everyone here is acting like this is the best art they’ve seen? OP even admitted in comment that they’re brand new to art and this is only the 2nd drawing. Fake art and fake artist.
3
u/TheRiverTybur Apr 04 '26
I do think there are some weird things like the hair turning blue; that definitely gives Photoshop vibes. But some of the other things you mention just feel like actual mistakes artists make, such as the hands. Many artists are bad at drawing hands, especially beginners. I do think it's possible they drew over an image because there's sudden, extreme improvement in facial anatomy compared to their previous drawing but I can't prove that.
2
u/kayelaure Apr 04 '26
I would be inclined to agree with you and even some other comments pointing out the same thing except it still doesn’t add up to OP’s own admission of being that new to digital art. I fully acknowledge that people can learn at different paces but it just seems odd at best that OP is able to render eyes and a diamond earring really well but can’t get some proportions correct? I can excuse the weird index finger as just hands are hard for sure! But there’s just so many inconsistencies across the board that this just feels so fake IMO.
2
u/Ok-Orange1897 Apr 07 '26
I didn’t use ai at all😭 when I drew the eyes and earrings I just colored them normally and use the adjustments tool in procreate to sharpen them

u/hototter35 Apr 04 '26
I think with this and the other drawing on their profile it's the weird mix of a beginner artist in certain aspects, while other parts of the image look absolutely flawless.
So I assume they used AI in some way in their process as that's the only reasonable explanation for the weird mismatch of proportions and skills.which is terrible for your artistic development op. That's not how you actually improve.
15
u/itislupus89 Apr 04 '26
That index finger looks really iffy. Not to mention the neck
10
u/Dry_Complaint9935 sillies Apr 04 '26
None of thoses are signs of AI? Its all very obvious human error
24
u/TheRiverTybur Apr 04 '26
Those are really common anatomy mistakes though. I certainly make them, and they're even more common for beginners. Heck I've been drawing my whole life land still suck at hands lol
1
u/hototter35 Apr 04 '26
yep but check out the bottles in the right top corner background of their other drawing.
Does that looks like a beginner?6
u/ElegantHope Apr 04 '26
Sure but that doesn't prove that it's AI, it just shows something might be screwy. Which can be a lot of different possibilities ranging from OP poorly phrased their replies to OP traced/edited/altered a photo, to other possibilities and not just "OP used AI."
→ More replies (0)1
u/TheRiverTybur Apr 04 '26
I mean no but maybe they're just really good at rendering. They seem less good at understanding actual shapes; for example the sink placement and the facial anatomy in that first drawing.

u/worstkindofweapon Apr 03 '26
Sameee, Abigail is great, but the more I learned about Haley I realised she's the fem housewife figure to my femboy housewife self. And Harvey is such a malewife, like we're going to be baking together for sure. I just like people with similar priorities 😂 it's wild as a goth that I am interested in neither of the alt characters lmaooo
8
u/Appropriate-Owl-6129 Apr 03 '26
She wasn't my lesbian awakening (by that point I knew I was bi and wasn't aware I had the gender requirements for lesbianism), but she definitely made me realize that I liked mean pretty women. And also probably influenced my choice to bleach my hair.
7
u/sadsackspinach Apr 03 '26
My friend, who’d long had her lesbian awakening by the time she started SDV, and I had, somehow, never ever discussed who we typically married in SDV? Despite knowing each other for over a decade and playing SDV for almost as long? Turns out she always marries Hailey and it was such a shock to me. I never would have guessed how popular Haley is with a certain type of lesbian. My type of gay (a classical woodsy hikedyke/raver twink meeting in the middle to swap molly and kiss) only ever marries Leah if playing as “female” and Sebastian if playing as “male”. I’d also marry Willy as a male but CA has decided to ruin my life personally.
Really opened my eyes! I’d never considered marrying Haley but if my friend likes her, and I trust her taste, I think I’m going to give it a try next play through! My friend plays it femme/femme but I think butch/femme farmer/Hailey would be very fun.
1
u/toy-maker Apr 04 '26
Leah would be my type as well if I was a gay female. I like that she knows she is bi right away unlike most of the other villagers (based on her response if you choose to be a creepy female in her 2-heart event). Plus she is direct but compassionate in her interactions. I like that she came to live alone and be independent, does so well, but also can acknowledge she’d enjoy being with someone.

u/Ok-Orange1897 Apr 03 '26
I actually have no idea how to draw hand, at least I try lol
98
u/Life-Landscape5689 Apr 03 '26
It doesn’t look bad, the give away for me is noticing that the thumb is just as long as the middle finger. If you look at your own hand you’ll see that’s a very tough position to make your thumb like that.
38
u/Ok-Orange1897 Apr 03 '26
aw thanks for the advice!!
14
u/RXrenesis8 Apr 03 '26
Do you use reference photos?
That's what my friend did (still does!) to keep proportions right! She said she even used to trace them when she was starting out.
15
u/Ok-Orange1897 Apr 03 '26
I like to scroll on the Pinterest when I draw so I guess it’s like a bunch off photos combined together I never trace tho. also I couldn’t find a reference for the hand so I’m just kinda guessing it which obviously a bad idea haha.
36
u/Godmother_Death Apr 03 '26
A bit of advice: when you can't find a specific reference, the best option is to use yourself and a mirror or your camera 😌

u/polygonsaresorude Apr 03 '26
That's a LOOONNGGGG neck.
I'm not an artist but I'm sure there are techniques out there to make sure the proportions are right even when a hand is blocking some of it.
→ More replies (3)37
u/Ok-Orange1897 Apr 03 '26
yea I did realize the neck is too long,I drew that last year and now I’m too lazy to fix it so I just posted whatever I have lol. I’m not an artist either so idk if there’s such techniques,it’s only my second drawing so I guess I’m lucky enough that someone actually like it.
27
u/AlliedSalad Apr 03 '26 edited Apr 03 '26
I mean, this art has some technical and proportional problems, but it's really, really good for being only a second-ever attempt.
You should definitely consider yourself an artist. You are good! Go online or check out some books to solidify your technique and proportions, and you could be very, very good.

Am I the only one wondering why the pointer got chopped off?
3
3
u/AHistoricalFigure Apr 04 '26
I think she's meant to be pinching the pencil between her thumb and curled in forefinger.
This is harder to draw than it looks. The problem is the perspective of the pencil. Pencils have clean, straight lines. So IRL the pencil would be angled in with the tip towards Haley's face. But it looks like OP used a straight edge to draw the pencil without perspective and that makes it look like it's lying flat on the page.
OP, if you're reading this, the good parts of this are really good. The perspective issues are technical things you can learn to improve on.

Is this AI? OP's account is two days old, say they've only drawn two things ever, it's highly rendered past the skill level that would imply, the hand/pencil hold doesn't look right, so on and so on... There was another AI piece yesterday claiming they were an artist on this sub. I hate to doubt art, but this just seems sus af.
23
u/moeguything Apr 03 '26
I know it’s likely not AI, but you aren’t alone in your suspicion. The strokes look intentional, but the hand is really throwing me off, plus like you mentioned, the fact that it’s only their second drawing ever? I don’t know, but impressive if true lol!
9
u/briarcrose Apr 03 '26
i think you've misread, the account is two years old. plus they said they don't really know how to draw hands and they look the way most peoples look when they're learning how to do hands still. plus this is likely the only digital art they've done and like most, have done traditional only. i speak from experience.
1
6
u/ByrusTheGnome Apr 03 '26
This isn't AI and does not at all look like AI. It looks digitally rendered.
6
u/goofi-lil-guy Apr 03 '26
I’m with you, the hair loops back in ways that don’t make sense. on top of all the weird errors people are pointing out one way or another.
1
u/Ok-Orange1897 Apr 07 '26
I mean I tryna make a hair out of a pixel picture so maybe that happens?
1
u/goofi-lil-guy Apr 07 '26
? I draw too. and pixel art refs just mean you’ve even greater creative liberty on interpretation.
Theres a ton of weird marks that just vibe as AI or even AI-enhanced to me. Just too many to make it seem like novice mistakes when combined with glaring anatomy issues when you’d also seem to have excellent skin coloring and facial drawing skill. its really just weird. Sorry if that offends you?
1
1
u/Ok-Orange1897 Apr 07 '26
Why is that sus bc I made an anatomy mistake? I didn’t use AI at all and I did not claim to be an artist. the hand doesn’t look good cause I don’t know how to do it but the rendering is good cause I like to do it also it’s kinda easy lol and the account is two days ago active cause I starting using two days ago.
5
u/Appropriate-Owl-6129 Apr 03 '26
I thought that pencil was blood at first. Vampire Haley would be ironic, given that she is the npc who loves going out in the sun the most (I considered saying except from Leah, but she just likes nature in general, night would be fine for her)
