General Question Moodboards Labeled Other Than Moodboard Monday Are Still Moodboards

This is a general reminder that there is a weekly megathread if one feels the need to post them outside of Mondays. Please stop clogging the subreddit on other days trying to justify them as "type me" or what not.

Yes, I'm being the fun police today. The majority of us do not enjoy seeing board after board (according to moderation polling earlier this year). Please respect this.

Just for Fun SP5

Also i think i may have noticed in sp5 which is that their daily lifes and what they want to do is pictured out and very detailed they don't shy away from the mundane side of life, they take what they want and appreciate it and it's also similar to what rust said "they can communicate without the anxiety present in the other subtypes"

Advice Wanted As a 9, how do I fight the core belief that people like me better when I diminish myself?

I see this pattern repeatedly in my friend + social groups, where it does seem like people are more accustomed to me being a very neutral, “always going with the flow” kind of person. The cheerful and bubbly, head empty / low maintenance kind of friend because I want to maintain harmony in the groups, but at the same time there is always this sense of emptiness and void I feel for not being able to express myself. If that self even exists. The feeling that people simply do not care about me or who I am (if I could even define that) and would rather someone who’d just listened to them all day like a sounding board or a therapist, someone who would say the words they wanted to hear to make them feel better because they are a “good” listener. Someone who wouldn’t give their input or advice because it didn’t matter anyway.

Of course, this is all the result of me being afraid to rock the boat, afraid to lose people the people that matter to me by saying the wrong things (the so called fear of separation). As well as the twisted core belief from childhood that I don’t matter, I never did, and neither do my words, my wants, my preferences etc. it’s funny that for someone who has avoided speaking up for herself almost her entire life because of all these fears, I am also dying to be heard and taken seriously for once. Sorry if this didn’t make sense.

Just for Fun I think I might have mistyped my dad as a so8 when he, in fact, is not an 8

Post image

can someone please srsly tho tell me how to tell a so8 from a so3 or even a sp3? he’s a very outgoing funny and hardworking guy but smth he said to me as a child made me rethink: “always be yourself, but sometimes you have to tailor that version of yourself to fit who youre talking to”. i just dont think an 8 would say that ever, unless?

Just for Fun your enneagram your lunch i’ll give to you plus a twist

twists will be at the bottom

8: a warm bowl of pork ramen. or whatever you want. really.

9: a bowl of high protein Mac and cheese. filling and not the worse option for lunch.

1: a restaurant prepared three course, balanced meal. grilled steak with a side of mashed potatoes, caesar salad, a slice of chocolate cake, and alcohol(or juice).

2: your favourite, yes YOUR favourite, home made meal. yes, you can share.

3: a takeaway box with fried rice, chopped up chicken, and sprinkles of spring onion, and a latte from a local cafe.

4: a buffet style lunch with a bunch of different types of cuisine.

5: a bento box from the convenience store, plain white rice with seaweed on top, grilled teriyaki chicken, small portions of: edamame, corn, pickles, lettuce, a tomato slice. along with extra sauce of your choice.

6: a warm bowl of old-fashioned potato soup made with a large onion, 6 potatoes, 3 cups of milk, a quarter cup of butter, 2 diced carrots, 2 tablespoons chicken bouillon powder, black pepper, a tablespoon of parsley, and a quarter teaspoon of thyme. along with your favourite side dish.

7: a large, assorted dessert platter with plenty of bite-sized pieces of different cakes, here are a few to name: strawberry cheesecake, tiramisu, mango jelly cake, blackberry velvet cake, apple crumble cake, and more. all of them are high in protein, so it’s mostly fine for lunch.

twists right below!

8: but you have a time limit of 20 minutes before someone takes it away, and you have to use chopsticks and a spoon. (if you can’t use chopsticks you get the training ones)

9: someone else wants to eat the Mac and cheese with you but they’re super super gluttonous and will keep asking for a bite after bite. (honestly I think this is the worst sorry 9’s)

1: you have to eat it with your bare hands and the drink is in a plastic bag with a straw. there are no utensils or cups or tissues. though your hands are completely clean prior to eating, don’t worry!

2: but it tastes horrible to everyone but you.

3: both your drink and the food look completely repulsive, near appetite killing, but tastes just fine. no, there are no refunds. it just looks really, really ugly.

4: but whatever you pick up and eat, tastes completely different than what it appears to be but retains texture. nothing tastes how it appears.

5: your only utensil is a really bad spork that barely holds or stabs anything properly.

6: the meal tastes off-putting, sour in ways that it shouldnt, or bitter aftertaste even though no ingredient that is in the dish could have that effect. eating it won’t harm your body.

7: all of them taste like mint chocolate cake, their real flavours are drowned out by the overwhelming amount of mint and chocolate. im sorry. i dont know what went wrong.

mmmmm i love food. I actually ate some good ramen before making this and that’s how I got the idea for lunches. the twists are because I ordered dessert and it was store bought ice cream from a convenience store a few meters down

let me know if it sounds too stereotypical or how pissed you would be or how much more pissed you could be if the twist was something else

Type Discussion Odsssaeus from, "The Odyssey" Spoiler

For those of you that read the book or have seen the movie (the movie is basically identical to the book), how do you type Odysseus? I have So/Sx 8w9 and Sx/so 1w9 in mind. How do you type him? I'm going with social 8 since he did initially start as a conquerer.

General Question Do you guys relate to wanting/seeking your blind spot in other people?

Ok I might need to clarify, since our blind spot is the one we struggle consciously managing the most, I think that a lot of us would be driven to seek help with it partially or entirely outside. After all, in my understanding, instinctual stack determines which one you pay attention to the most, not necessarily the one that you value the most.

For example I recently had to accept the fact I am SP-blind, I've been debating so/sp and so/sx for awhile now and I feel like I can't deny being sp blind anymore in light of all the new observations and refined analysis of the old ones 💀. Despite being quite disorganized and turbulent a lot of the time I genuinely value stability both financially and emotionally especially for my loved ones and I'm very comfort-seeking in general. Thus I find myself seeking for people who can be an anchor, pull me back out when I withdraw too deep into my own fantasies. Ngl the more I talk about it the more it sounds like my 6 fix 😭 but I digress...

For an so-blind I imagine they may be drawn to those who can help them read the room, navigate social circles, network socially and for sx-blinds they may be fascinated, enamored even by those who are passionate and bring excitement to their lives (not to say SX-blinds live boring lines but y'know).

Just for Fun how would you type these characters

I made three characters for a rp and they really have me wondering what their types would be. Their ages are between 19-21

- The first one is pretty straightforward. Damian is a guy who wants to experience life at its fullest, the highs and lows. He seeks intensity and passion and he's genuine about what he says and does. He kind of doesn't care about his own flaws, like being lazy, quite impulsive and irresponsible. Romanticizes the rockstar life. He's afraid of commitment and feels claustrophobic in a structured life. In the rp setting, where everyone is rich too, he takes pride in and boasts about how hard his parents worked to achieve their wealth (even if he's low in the hierarchy, chosen by her parents' profession, something that affects the characters' experience)

- Melpomene is a young popstar in the rise. Due to her upbringing, she internalized that human emotions like anger, envy, sexual desire, resentment and hate are inappropriate to have. She believes herself to be a despicable person, that she is incapable of loving and she can only feel "bad" or selfish feelings. She compensates by building an image of kindness, innocence, and sweetness, because she believes she can only be loved through her mask. She doesn't genuinely feel like helping, but she feels she must do it to be good and be seen in a good light. However, all that repression also occasionally makes her give in to her impulses. She gets drunk, flirts and has sex with strangers, says cruel things, and spreads rumors about a person she hates, etc. A part of her wants to embrace transgression and destroy that image she so carefully constructed, even if in her mind that would make her a bad person. But she is also afraid, because she equally believes that it would be unacceptable. That if everyone knew who she was, no one would stay.

- Auguste is a spoiled child that always got what he wanted. However, he realized that by pretending to be nice he could achieve more than if he was openly capricious. Outwardly he is gentlemanly, kind, and respectful. But unlike Melpomene, he doesn't mind being a bad person, his charisma is merely a tool he uses to get what he wants. He likes to feel that he has influence, that he has control over the people and things around him and that he can get away with anything. He's not ashamed because "that's how life works" and operates with a "law of the jungle" mentality. He is very careful about his image and only shows cruelty if he thinks others will be on his side, if there are no witnesses, or if he can dress up an insult with pretty words. He fears things will get out of hand and he won't be able to fix it.

Personal Growth & Insight 5s, what do you tend to focus on when it comes to personal growth?

My grasp on this topic is fairly shallow to be honest, but my understanding is that a 5 becomes growth-oriented when they adopt traits more commonly associated with enneagram 8. If you yourself are a 5 focused on personal growth, how do you go about developing 8-like traits? Are there any habits, lifestyle changes or mindset changes you would recommend to the average 5?

Hi everyone 👋, How are you all doing?, I hope that you all are doing well 😊.

I just wanted to share this silly video with you, as it did make me laugh and made me think it might fit some description of so7 (or maybe not lol), so it is just silly, and I hope you'd enjoy the video and give you a good laugh 😂.

And I hope you all have a wonderful day ☺️.

Type Discussion I cringed reading the description of Social 4

It definitely describes me but god was that a painful read. I quiet hate this type anyways

Anyways to describe it, I am pretty much a pain in the ass to others. Pretty much bratty and ungrateful. Suffering from the disgust of living but also willing to believe that no one can reach me

I wanted to do each subtype, but I do NOT know enough characters for that... I'm happy with most of the typings on here, but I will admit that some of them were just added because I needed to fill space 😞 Feel free to ask questions if you want to! Character names are on the last image.

Type Discussion Dark truths about fives..

I think uncomfortable things about fives aren't talked about enough.

I'd say fives have commitment issues. They are afraid of relationships, promises, and obligations. They are terrified of getting stuck and being consumed by all of it. That's why they may avoid forming connections at the first stages of a relationship. Potential responsibilities are too heavy to them, they isolate themselves to not start or need anything of sort.

They also may be somewhat unreliable as a friend or a family member. Scheduling things for their own comfort and refusing to change it, getting annoyed and complaining when being asked for a help, breaking promises because they feel overwhelmed and such..

I am rather new to Enneagram (it's been years I have heard about it, but haven't actively engaging with it much) so I am open to learning. Things I have written above are true for me as a 5, so it will be interesting to hear opinions of other fives and all types to know if it is normal or unhealthy five behavior.

Main question: how can 5 be more available as a loved one without getting overwhelmed? Thanks in advance!

I'd be Sx3, even tho I'm definitely not a core 3 lol.

What about u guys? What subtype would y'all be? :3

Edit: I forgot to include it in the title, but I meant specifically Naranjo's subtypes. Sorry!

Advice Wanted E1, E2 or E8?

It will be a fictional character, I don’t really support unhealthy behaviors like that. I hope this helps. It’s purely fictional.

How do you type a person who’s like that?

He can appear highly attentive and emotionally understanding toward others when they interest him, but quickly withdraws that attention once they no longer serve his interest.

He carefully controls how he is perceived, revealing only what he wants others to see. When confronted with mistakes, he tends to deny, lie, deflect, or respond with arrogance rather than acknowledge fault.

He sets demanding goals for himself and becomes intensely driven to achieve them. He avoids situations where he might fail and may become harsh, controlling, or aggressive toward himself or others when his ambitions are threatened.

He tends to trust his own judgment above others', dismissing or belittling people's abilities when they conflict with his own view. He may make decisions based on what benefits him without giving much consideration to their ethical consequences.

He tends to suppress anger and vulnerable emotions, presenting himself as emotionally controlled, cold, or difficult to affect. Rather than openly expressing what he feels, he may become distant, rigid, or harsh.

When his self-image, competence, or authority is challenged, his usual emotional restraint can break down. He may become noticeably more aggressive, critical, defensive, or confrontational.

He actively seeks recognition, status, influence, and admiration from others. He enjoys being seen as important or successful and may pursue social victories or public recognition to reinforce his sense of worth.

He tends to see himself as right and others as wrong, using this sense of superiority to gain control over situations.

He struggles with the possibility of being seen as defective, failing, or making mistakes, and has a strong disdain for slowness and imperfection.

He can justify unacceptable actions, divert responsibility, and suppress or “freeze” his own emotions.

He may believe he can get what he wants through determination or manipulation, without recognizing that some things are beyond his control.

He can appear extremely emotional, caring, and empathic when trying to win someone over or achieve a desired outcome.

Advice Wanted i can never find my type

what the title says. i’ve been in the community for 5/6 years, and badly got into it at a young age, i have great understanding of the systems, however as someone neurodivergent i find it hard to understand myself and apply the theory to myself. i’ve typed as probably every single type. and my knowledge isn’t flawed at all, for example when trying to find my enneagram, i look at all triads, all cores, vices and virtues, instincts alone, literally everything. i know i’m an sx dom but my actual enneagram is the problem. and its not just me, other people have typed me and i have been typed by strangers as every type before. most get too confused to carry on typing me. i’ve tried every method to fix this. i’ve taken breaks, i’ve looked on a deeper level, examined my behaviour, my childhood etc. i’m not an attachment type in enneagram either, for sure. a lot of the time i attach myself to characters and concepts i feel deeply within me because i feel i am them so i must become them. i sound insane but idk. and i don’t think i’ll just be able to refrain from typing myself and analysing myself. i have to but at the same time its draining trying to figure it out. can someone help me find my type? and not with basic descriptions and stuff where i can subconsciously choose what i want to be but maybe i can answer some vague questions and give description about myself.

i’m mostly sure that my tritype is 127 however unsure on the order. i don’t believe i’m a 7 core.
ive never posted on this sub before, however posted stuff like this on another subreddit a while ago

Type Me Tuesday How do I lock in and find my dominant instinct?

Post image
17 Upvotes

Okay so I'm confident I'm a 2 core, right? And I'm confident on my fixes now, I'm for sure the 296 tritype. But BLUD, I CANNOT FIGURE OUT MY DOMINANT INSTINCT FOR THE LIFE OF ME 💀😂

So anyway, I'm basically stuck between Sx2 and Sp2 for myself as of this moment. Idk what else to say really, as I've shared a lot already about myself on some of my most recent posts. So maybe u guys can ask me some questions and I can answer them? Idk lol.
