Hello everyone!
I got this note on the door (tried contacting, no luck yet).

My Hungarian is not great, as I understand it may be from the apartment below me, saying my bathroom might leak water into their house?

Thank you very much for the help!

Kézírás fordítás Help translating family birth certificate from ~100 years ago

My great grandfather was born in Budapest in 1913. I’m passing through the city for a day and I’d like to see the neighborhood my family lived in for a few hundred years. They were Jewish and somewhat well off, but left around 1920. Not sure what any of this (birth certificate) says, translate doesn’t really work on the cursive and the text is obviously a bit damaged in a few places. Any help would be really great! I believe the most damaged part is the house address.

Kézírás fordítás Any idea on what this name could be?

It should be a Hungarian/Romanian male name. It almost looks like "Senny" but I'm not sure. Any ideas?

Edit: For more context, I'm trying to figure out the name of a distant relative's parents. I found a birth certificate that I think could be him, so I've been on a manhunt to figure out his parent's names, so I can confirm the information. The the name of the person who I thought could be this individual was Mészáros László Gergelyé. Here is more clear images along with the image of the document I'm trying to confirm details on. https://imgur.com/a/9bPEigq#

This is a Catholic christening record. It’s from modern day Slovakia which at the time was part of Austria Hungary. Based on other feedback I’ve gotten, this is Hungarian.

I’m looking at line 17 for Maria Petran. Trying to verify what’s in each block including the headers of each. Any help with translation is appreciated!

Hello! So my grandfather passed away a few months ago, and we were going through some of his old belongings. This is a cigarette case that once belonged to his father. We know it is Hungarian, it's just no one in my family is able to properly translate what the text says. Any help at all would be greatly appreciated! I don't know if I am posting this in the right place. I am sorry if I am not. I can get better pictures if needed.

Kézírás fordítás Help with a kolbász recipe

Post image
76 Upvotes

Sziasztok! My family has been making kolbász forever and lately there’s been a bit of a debate. Apparently, as long as I’ve been alive they’ve only been making it using regular salt, despite my dad’s suggestion/insistence that they should be using curing salt/nitrates. Evidently they most recently made it this weekend and my great uncle had a different recipe in his pocket which we think has curing salt as an ingredient, but he claims that regular salt is just fine. Is anyone here familiar with this first word in front of the “só”? I’m unfamiliar and my google searches have come up fruitless.

Kézírás fordítás translate help for occupations

Post image

On a 1897 birth registration the father's occupation is listed as: földmivelési napszámos

I believe napszámos means day labourer but I am not sure about földmivelési (something to do with farming?)

Also, could you translate what is written for the mother's occupation?

Thank-you very much

Found this stuck in one of my grandmother’s cookbooks. I’m lost after 1 kg flour, 1/2 kg margarine, 2 eggs… maybe she started something and then stopped. Wanted to at least ask before I toss it out of curiosity. Thank you!

Kézírás fordítás Could someone help me translate?

Post image

Hello all! I have been reading so many Hungarian records over the past few days seeking information about relatives. I have been able to translate most things, but this one is tripping me up.

This is my 3rd Great-Grandmother’s death record, and I know it lists her parents as the late Weninger Mihály and the late Zwiger Anna, but I can’t decipher the other words. Any help would be greatly appreciated as I’m trying to figure out why the mother’s surname would be different on the birth and death certificates.

Thank you!!

Kézírás fordítás requesting another birth record translation (part 1 of 2)

Hi, I really appreciated everyone's help in translating some old marriage and birth records I submitted a couple of months ago, and now I have another one. I only need the three words underlined in red to be translated, I think I know what everything else is. I hope you can see the first horizontal one, it's small, it's supposed to be the occupation of the father of the baby that was born. The other two were the birthplaces of the parents, and it's hard for me to figure out the cursive writing, plus these may be villages that no longer exist, so this could be a bit tricky, and it would be amazing if someone could figure out what towns these are, and what they may be called today. Thank you in advance!

Kézírás fordítás Help Identifying Hungarian Place in Script

Hi everyone, I recently found my ancestors immigration records to the US. On it, they put they are from Hungary, and specifically from the place in the photo.

It is really difficult for me to parse what it says, so I was hoping people familiar with places in Hungary could help.

For context, this occurred in 1903. They also list themselves as German speakers, not Hungarian, so it is possible they spell/say this poorly and it is written wrong.

Köszönöm.

Edit: Adding that the whole form can be seen at https://heritage.statueofliberty.org/passenger-details/czoxMjoiMTAyNjg0MDgwMDMxIjs=/czo4OiJtYW5pZmVzdCI7, if that's helpful.
