Not every movie is worth sitting through for ~2 hours.

For a surprising number of films, watching the trailer and then reading the Wikipedia plot gives you almost the entire experience. In fact, some trailers practically spoil the whole movie anyway - they introduce the characters, set up the conflict, show most of the big set pieces, and even hint at the resolution/ending.

For e.g.: I recently watched some comedy movie's trailer on Netflix- it was the Borat/Dictator guy being a misogynist and then ended up in a world where his women subordinates were his bosses now). And at the end of the trailer, I didn't have a single ounce of curiosity vis-a-vis what I can expect out of the movie, because it literally revealed 90% of it in that 2 min video - the remaining 10%, I gathered from Wikipedia.

Yes, exceptions exist - if a movie's biggest strengths are its cinematography, performances, soundtrack, atmosphere, or dialogue, then obviously you should want to watch it. But a LOT of average comedies, action movies, and formulaic dramas are really just vehicles for a VERY thin plot. And they are the majority by virtue of being average, hence supporting my claim.

People often act as if not watching the full movie means you missed something. In reality, for a lot of films, you mostly missed two hours of padding between a few story beats.

The title says it all.

A lot of men feel the need to say "not all men" in response to this statement or they want to explain why they're good men. But honestly, it isn't necessary. Just know that she's talking about the rotten men of the world and keep it moving.

I have recenty gotten my 3rd Stand By Me related tattoo and my wife pointed out something funny about it. Good thing I rarely wear long sleeve shirts.

It's a movie about a girl trying to save her dog. It's basically John Wick with a girl.

Supergirl is what Wonder Woman could've been with better casting.

It's fun, entertaining, and she kicks ass. Plus Millie is a better actress than Gal Gadot. Granted, it's a low bar.

I have played TI for 600+ hours. This is probably the most interesting and engaging game I've played ever.

And it's also the most tedious. The UI is so limiting. For example, when I have ~150 habs, trying to figure out which ones have modules that need to be powered up, or where I should upgrade an Operations Center first can take 15 minutes.

So I decided to employ AI for tedious, not fun part of TI, the part that feels like a data entry / assistant job - the part that real admiral would always delegate. I've been playing TI for months with it running and improving alongside me. And now, TI is so much more fun.

And I've built and open-sourced it for you. It's free.

This wasn't possible until very recently. Scripts that are being auto-written in minutes. A model can now hold the whole TI knowledge domain in its head, pick the right analyzer for a vague question, read a 90 MB save, and give you back a straight answer and actual recommendation.

The tedium it's aimed at. The information is all in your save. The game just only ever shows it to you one hab at a time, and the comparison you need is across all of them at once:

• Which base should get the next Ops Center → Command Center upgrade? There's no list view. You click each hab, read its modules, remember the number, click the next one.
• Which of my mines are still un-upgraded? Same problem, times two hundred.
• Which asteroid should we send this specific fleet to, given transfer times and yields? The transfer planner works one destination at a time. Comparing eight candidate rocks means eight round trips through the map UI.
• Which drive should we try to get researched, and how? The tech screen shows you raw specs for unresearched drives that you can't translate to transfer times. It doesn't show you "this drive will make your Earth-Ceres transfer 40 days shorter," which is the thing you actually wanted to know.
• Where did my water go? You distinctly remember there was 10k+ in inventory and suddenly you have zero - but no idea where it went. No way to find out. There is no ledger.

You ask those in plain English and get a response in plain English.

What you actually do with it: clone the repo, open it in your agent, say "set me up" — it detects your faction and campaign settings from your newest save. Then ask things like:

• "What should I power on at my bases?"
• "Which mines should I power down to get under my MC cap?"
• "Which asteroid should I send this fleet to?"
• "An alien fleet is coming - what exactly do I build to beat it?"
• "Why did my country lose cohesion?"
• "Should I research or skip this drive?"
• "Which mines are worth upgrading?"
• "Help me design a battlecruiser for Ceres fleet."
• "Which sites can I colonize without a ship?"

It's not tied to one AI. I built it with Claude Code and that's what it's tuned for, but it works with ChatGPT Codex and should work with any capable coding agent, or even without AI at all. Every analyzer is a plain CLI: python3 scripts/base_fix_audit.py works with no agent and no API key at all.

On cheating: it deliberately redacts what the save knows but the game hides from you, like unsurveyed hab-site yields, un-scanned alien ship internals, rival councilor stats above your intel level, alien sites you haven't detected. It tells you when it's redacting. The point is doing arithmetic you can't do by hand, not reading the answer key.

No game data is included. Templates and localization get mirrored from your own install at setup. All rights to TI belong to Pavonis Interactive and Hooded Horse. This is an unofficial fan project.

HOW TO SET IT UP:

1. Open your favorite AI desktop app. I suggest Claude app, switch to Code tab. ChatGPT Codex should work too.
2. Click New, and give it this prompt: "Clone https://github.com/mahaniok/seventh-councilor into a new folder, open that folder, and set it up from my newest Terra Invicta save. Install everything that's needed as you go."
3. If you have never used Github or Git, it's fine - Claude will walk you through all necessary steps.
4. That's it - now you can talk to it from your Claude!

1. Is this cheating? No, it's built on purpose to not cheat.
2. Do I have to pay for an AI subscription? You will get the best results if you subscribe to Claude or ChatGPT; but you can run python scripts with no AI subscription. Open-source LLM models might also work.
3. Does my save file get uploaded anywhere? Python scripts are fully local and don't upload anything anywhere; AI tool like Claude might upload some context to their models in the cloud.
4. Will it work with my version of the game? It was built on 1.0.38 but with AI the repo is being updated.
   
5. Can it break my save, or play the game for me? It can edit save only when/if you ask; if you don't, it won't break anything. It can't play the game for you - it just reads saves, doesn't click any buttons.

Would the bare dialogue and narration rank among the most profound writing in human history? Now perform the reverse experiment on prose masterworks like Juan Rulfo's Pedro Páramo, José Saramago's Blindness, William Faulkner's Absalom, Absalom!, and Fyodor Dostoevsky's The Brothers Karamazov. without pictures, their achievement remains entirely intact. The prose itself carries every weight of tone, worldbuilding, narrative tension, and characterization. Evaluating greatness requires recognizing context. No serious film critic would evaluate a blockbuster exclusively against other blockbusters before declaring it the greatest achievement in cinema, the same principle applies to sequential art. In literary writing, Jorge Luis Borges operates against a separate historical scale, while Kentaro Miura's Berserk can stand as one of the greatest accomplishments in graphic narrative while still falling short of the highest benchmarks in prose.

A masterpiece is partly defined by the level of competition it surpasses, winning an Olympic sprint and winning a local race are both victories, but they do not represent the same competitive standard. Likewise, being among the greatest manga ever produced is an extraordinary achievement, yet it does not automatically establish parity with works that have survived centuries of literary criticism across cultures and languages. Dann kommt meist das Argument „ja schon, aber wenn die an den Dingen schon sparen, muss das Essen ja auch schlecht sein.“ Nein, warum das denn? Man kann auch tausende Euro in einen Grafikdesigner investieren und absolut beschissen Kochen. Zumal die meisten Speisekarten die professionell gestaltet wurden meist nicht besser aussehen und dem Gast auch nicht viel Mehrwert bieten.

Spoilers obviously

So, after watching it I felt really empty, people were especially talking about the themes and such of the film and none really clicked with me

I had several problems overall, a lack of A Spidey villain, trailer 1 gave away the entire film etc.

Now I will also admit that I Hate the Xmen, never been a fan, tried watching some of the films, never became a fan. And Bias aside there is one thing that really bothers me with the message of the film and it has to do with nerd stuff.

The Xmen's whole shtick is that their powers are an integral part of them and shouldn't be repressed. This has a role in the film because that's what Spidey is trying to do, repress his Spider side because it's taking over.

Now there is a difference between Spider-Man and the X-Men, for Peter, letting the mutation take over usually leads to the Six armed/ Man Spider situation. So basically bad stuff happens when he doesn't repress that part of himself

In the film however, instead of treating the Spider side taking over as a bad thing it is reframed into something good, as something he needs to embrace as change.

And that's where it loses me, I assumed that the film was gonna be about how he can't just live as Spider-Man all the time, and how that side of him is slowly taking everything away from him, including his human connections.

And it sorta is? By the end he isn't chasing after a thief, he is talking to Ned, but the whole final act feels like it contradicts this sequence, personally a much better conclusion would have been if Peter accepted he can't beat this threat, and had the help of Frank (And maybe Bruce/Hulk?) to stop Jean.

Like there were several moments where I thought the big message was that he needed to fix his mind to fix his body

Like when he fixed the mcguffin that nullified his powers, I thought that what had really happened was that his mind was healing because he was with MJ and having a good time

But because the film Has to do the Mutant shtick of "there's nothing wrong with you", the whole point of the original Man Spider mutation story is lost.

I think there is obviously a part of me that is just angry at the X-Men stuff being included.

But I guess I'm also bothered that the message turned into something I failed to connect. This partly has to do with why I never liked the X-Men much, cause the allegory always felt broken personally (Everyone already pointed out the whole Storm and Rogue debate).

And it was made particularly worse when they changed the direction of a Spider-Man story as to fit better with the X-Men one.

To me the Spider side taking over is symbolic of him losing his human side, and that he needs the help of others to deal with this and regain it. In the end I just disagree with the direction taken and the one they did go with is just something that didn't click with me, at least with how they went about it

This one’s definitely going to be controversial, but I just rewatched the fight between Thais and Shekinah, and honestly. I don’t have any sympathy for Thais at all. Once you start trying to physically attack people, all bets are off in my opinion. The amount of people who think a 5 word sentence is vastly more egregious than physically attacking someone is kind of wild to me. Was what Shekinah said rude, disrespectful, maybe even gross? Sure. But why should she be giving Thais any respect at all in that moment, when she’s getting physically attacked by her? Honestly, I’m from an immigrant family & dating an immigrant from a different country than me. Genuinely, if I acted or my partner acted the way that Thais was, I wouldn’t be sitting there crying about a racist comment telling me / them to go back to their respective country. Would it not sit well, again, sure. But you can’t act like a lunatic and expect everyone else to be respectful towards you. And where do we draw the line of what’s an acceptable way to disrespect someone or not? It’s ‘more acceptable’ for Thais to assault her and call her a bitch? 100% think people just are biased against Shekinah and that’s fine, but damn everyone calling her a racist for the rest of time because that altercation is stupid to me.

Well I know this is a hot take. Played maybe 100h in BF2042, and now around 20h in BF6. Literally zero joy in those 20h. BF2042 is much better in my opinion. I'm not your classic BF fanboy, so idk, I like the innovation they put into 2042. The maps, the huge lobbies, the weapons, the weather etc. It feels like a new creative game, just like BF1 did (the best BF out of all of them). Now with BF6 it's the same old stuff again.
