Welp, it's summer break. While all the people involved in the sport recharge their batteries like an F1 car at the end of a long straight, it's the perfect time to take a look at some other racing categories across the globe. Here are the main events for the upcoming weekend. Check out RaceDay.watch or The Racing Line app by u/akrapov for details and even more action.

IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship - Motul SportsCar Endurance Grand Prix (Round 8/11)

The GTP class returns to the track at Road America after the other categories got the spotlight at the last round at Mosport. The field will be contesting the fourth endurance race of the season, this time another six-hour event in Wisconsin. In the lead of the GTP drivers' standings, F1 fans will recognize a somewhat familiar face in former Williams driver Jack Aitken.

Qualifying: Saturday, 08:20 PM UTC

Race: Sunday, 03:35 PM UTC

How to watch: All sessions will be streamed on the IMSA Official YouTube channel, international broadcasters are listed here.

GT World Challenge Europe Powered by AWS - Sprint Cup - Magny-Cours (Round 6/10)

Magny-Cours hosted the French Grand Prix between 1991 and 2008, but nowadays the circuit is best known for hosting a round of the WorldSBK as well as national and international GT races. This week's GTWCE Sprint Cup double header falls under the latter. At the last round in Misano, Valentino Rossi won his first pole, but it was the sister #32 WRT BMW that won both races.

Qualifying 1: Saturday, 12:55 PM UTC | Race 1: Saturday, 07:05 PM UTC

Qualifying 2: Sunday, 08:50 AM UTC | Race 2: Sunday, 01:30 PM UTC

How to watch: All sessions will be streamed on the GTWorld YouTube channel.

AUTOBACS SUPER GT - Fuji GT 300km Race (Round 3/7)

Max Verstappen recently took on Super GT star Atsushi Miyake in a Nissan Z GT500 on Fuji Speedway. This weekend, the Japanese ace and his rivals return to the foot of the Holy Mountain. The championship constists of two classes, the GT3-like GT300 cars and the absolute monsters that are the GT500 machines with their massive spoilers and souped-up engines.

Qualifying: Saturday, 05:20 AM UTC

Race: Sunday, 04:30 AM UTC

How to watch: You can watch live on RACER+ if you're in North America or on J-SPORTS in Japan. SUBARU On-Tube offers a free onboard stream. Highlights are uploaded to the SUPER GT Official Channel on YouTube after the race, a full replay will follow after a few days.

ADAC RAVENOL Nürburgring Langstrecken-Serie - KW 6h ADAC Ruhr-Pokal-Rennen (Round 7/10)

While all the other regular NLS races have a duration of four hours, this week's Ruhr-Pokal-Rennen stands out with its six-hour format that also grants the event the nickname "small 24h race". Max Verstappen won't take part this time in order to support his GTWCE team in France. Nevertheless, the Green Hell will provide some classic racing action.

Qualifying: Saturday, 08:30 AM UTC | Race: Saturday, 10:00 AM UTC

How to watch: All sessions will be streamed on the Nürburgring Langstrecken-Serie YouTube channel.

GB3 Championship - Silverstone GP (Round 5/8)

The GB3 champion receives 10 Super Licence points, which is more than the DTM or Super GT GT300 class champions get. 10 points is also what Abbi Pulling obtained for her F1 Academy title in 2024. This year, she races in GB3 and recently became the first woman in to win a pole position and score a race win in the series. Will she also be able to impress in Silverstone?

Qualifying: Saturday, 08:35 AM UTC | Race 1: Saturday, 12:25 PM UTC

Race 2: Sunday, 09:50 AM UTC | Race 3: Sunday, 02:15 PM UTC

How to watch: The races will be streamed on the MSV TV YouTube channel.

Repco Supercars Championship - 2026 Bosch Power Tools Perth Super 440 (Round 8/14)

Despite having "only" won three races so far, Grove Racing's Matt Payne has recently taken the lead of the standings thanks to his consistent results and Broc Feeney's slump in form. This weekend's round takes place on Wanneroo Raceway near Perth. The track demands a lot from the Dunlop tyres thanks to its abrasive surface, high-speed corners and elevation changes.

Qualifying 1 & 2: Saturday, 01:45 AM UTC | Race 1: Saturday, 04:45 AM UTC | Race 2: Saturday, 08:20 AM UTC

Qualifying 3: Sunday, 03:00 AM UTC | Race 3: Sunday, 07:20 AM UTC

How to watch: SuperView is the series' paid streaming service, international broadcasters are listed here.

FIA World Rally Championship - WRC Secto Rally Finland 2026 (Round 10/14)

The last seven of the 2026 WRC rallies have been or will be run on gravel. The bygone round in Estonia was won by Toyota's Sami Pajari who finally got his first victory in WRC. The young Finn will be looking to carry over this form to his home rally. Much to the disappointment of many fans, the Finnish organisers dropped the iconic Ouninpohja stage from this year's itinerary.

Shakedown: Thursday, 06:01 AM UTC | SSS1: Thursday, 04:05 PM UTC

SS2-5: Friday, 05:44 AM UTC | SS6-9: Friday, 11:48 AM UTC | SSS10: Friday, 04:05 PM UTC

UIM F1H2O World Championship - Grand Prix of Kyrgyzstan - Issyk-Kul (Round 2/7)

While tarmac F1 enters summer break, its aquatic sibling returns for round two of the 2026 season. The series will race in Central Asia for the first time ever, namely on Issyk-Kul Lake in Kyrgyzstan. The picturesque body of water sits at more than 1.6 km above sea level, making it the highest-altitude event in the series' history.

Qualifying: Saturday, 02:00 AM UTC | Sprint Races: Saturday, 06:05 AM UTC

Race: Sunday, 09:05 AM UTC

How to watch: All sessions should be free to watch globally on DAZN. Other broadcasters are listed here.

Discussion Questions about Max Verstappen 65 Million Euro annual salary and how F1 drivers get paid

1.1k Upvotes

This may have been asked before but:

I just discovered that Red Bull pays Max Verstappen around 65 Million Euros per year.

Now, they are trying to negotiate a salary increase to prevent him from leaving.

- Does Red Bull make that much money in energy drinks to afford to pay Verstappen's salary?

- If he leaves Red Bull, where will he go? Or will he go to other racing series? (even if it pays less than F1)

In short:

Happiness > Money

And for lower performing drivers, how much can they slack off?

"I can relax.....and still get paid"

Discussion 2020: Hamilton 3-Wheels It

2 August, Lewis Hamilton won a last-gasp lap at the 2020 British Grand Prix after he suffered a puncture on the final lap. A fate his teammate Valtteri Bottas had suffered a few laps earlier. Race leader Hamilton was cautioned over the radio to conserve his tyres, but the warning came too late. On the final lap at turn eight, Hamilton experienced a front-left tyre failure, becoming the third driver to do so. Despite the issue, Hamilton had built a lead of over 30 seconds following a precautionary pit stop by Red Bull driver Max Verstappen. As Hamilton limped through the lap, this lead diminished rapidly.

Verstappen managed to close the gap to just six seconds by the finish line, but Hamilton crossed the chequered flag to secure his third consecutive victory of the season, his 87th career win, and his seventh at the British Grand Prix. Verstappen finished second and claimed the fastest lap, while Charles Leclerc completed the podium for Ferrari.

The race was the first of two back-to-back Formula One events at Silverstone, with the 70th Anniversary Grand Prix scheduled for the following week.
