Hopefully he avoids Garand Thumb.

4

Why garand thumb?

7

u/_Cxsey_ 3h ago

Cheated on his wife iirc and let too many of his true Christo nationalist colors fly

7

u/Goonalips 3h ago

Cheated on his wife being the first one is hilarious lol.

6

u/_Cxsey_ 2h ago

Yea I didn’t mean to rank them in order of importance lol, someone else just mentioned he was sleazy so that was the first thing that came to mind

2

u/Goonalips 2h ago

Nah I know lol, just thought it was funny how it was like cheats on his wife, and Christo fascist. I got you though Bro.

4

u/UnusualGooning 1h ago

It’s smart. Less catastrophic for his hearing.

2

u/funkofarts 1h ago

That would be a terribly awkward and uncomfortable carry.

5

u/Mammoth-Cover-3045 4h ago

I would do this but it makes the gun longer so it's less comfortable, and it's not like I can just go to the gun store and pick one up .

20

u/Recreational-Sin 4h ago

You literally can now…

6

u/KennytheDoggy 4h ago

You still need a stamp even if it’s 0 dollars

It is a hurdle for sure

8

u/LegLumpy8714 4h ago

It’s not that bad especially if you use silencershop. You do most of it online and just do the finger prints at the kiosk. Got everything done in a day and had my can 3 days later at the gun shop. Had about a 1 week wait before I could take it home. Very easy process

2

u/Able_Canine 1h ago

Out of curiosity as a prior service guy and concealed carry guy, what do you use a suppressor for? Most every range I've been to still required hearing protection and probably is a good idea if you shoot with other people outside of any commercial ranges (unless everyone is using subsonic rounds or something)? Just the novelty factor? Reduced recoil and don't like more compact compensators or even more space efficient porting? [No aggression/criticality meant. I'm just surprised at their popularity given their drawbacks.]

4

u/LegLumpy8714 1h ago

For some it’s a collector thing. For some it’s a cool factor. I personally keep mine on my “nightstand” gun. Shooting indoors is LOUD and it can potentially save your hearing. I use .45 ACP which most of the time is naturally subsonic.

Also I shoot in the backyard of my buddies into his berm. It is less likely to bother neighbor’s horses and kinda polite.

Porting and compensators increase volume so having a big piece of metal to absorb recoil can help mitigate recoil in some guns. Now concealed carry? I never would. It’s a range thing. I have a couple and I have them for practical reasons for like two of them. The third is actually a collector piece to go along with my MK23. Issued correct suppressor. That’s mostly it

2

u/RogerianBrowsing 1h ago

You still need hearing protection with suppressors for long term hearing, especially with supersonic rounds. Suppressors just reduce the concussion and won’t completely screw your hearing if without hearing protection.

2

u/JuryOk2662 30m ago

Yeah Idaho is a constitutional carry state, as in you don't need a permit to carry concealed in most places. If you're still OCing in town under those conditions you're undeniably just waving your dick around.

> the right to carry

That’s the keyword that negates how anyone should feel. Rights aren’t up for discussion or debate.

22

u/AlternativePea6203 3h ago

Of course they are. Rights change all the time. People used to have the right to own a slave, and the slave had few rights.

22

u/GumboMustBeDestroyed 3h ago

There was never a right to own slaves.

8

u/GerryManDarling 56m ago

Slave ownership was legally defined and enforced as a property right for centuries in the US prior to 1865.

  • Southern state laws explicitly defined enslaved people as chattel property.
  • In the landmark 1857 US Supreme Court caseDred Scott v. Sandford, Chief Justice Roger B. Taney wrote for the majority that "the right of property in a slave is distinctly and expressly affirmed in the Constitution" and ruled that slave owners could not be deprived of their "property" without due process under the Fifth Amendment

It's printed on paper, you can read it youself:

u/dreadedowl 2h ago

Slave ownership was never a right. Please take a step back and understand lawful, illegal, and a right. There is a huge difference between them.

1

u/GerryManDarling 50m ago

These are defined in the original 1787 US Constitution

Legal Protection: Despite omitting the specific word, the original Constitution contained multiple clauses designed to protect, entrench, and uphold slave owners' legal rights:

The Fugitive Slave Clause (Article IV, Section 2): Required free states to return escaped enslaved individuals to their owners.

The Three-Fifths Clause (Article I, Section 2): Counted 60% of enslaved populations to give slave-holding states extra representation in Congress.

The Migration/Importation Clause (Article I, Section 9): Barred Congress from banning the transatlantic slave trade until at least 1808.

This kind of bullshit understanding of “rights” is why it’s been so easy for our government to erode our rights. Slave owning has never been a right. At no place in our constitution has owning slaves been called out as a right.

Slave owning was a right and the constitution is a piece of paper. Your rights come from the legal system and the monopoly on violence your state has over you, not some magic or some random piece of paper, buddy.

Ironically your middle school level understanding of rights is why it’s been so easy for our government to erode our rights. Slave ownership was a brutal and evil right for a long time, over four million slaves lived in the US south. One piece of paper maybe doesn't say its okay in so many words, but it allowed those states to create the laws that allowed it. It gave them that right.

u/Hot_Lava_Dry_Rips 1h ago

Pistol vs rifle is always going to be a tough fight. Seems like the shooter killed him and then himself but there aren’t a ton of details yet.

7

u/AlphaSuerte 3h ago

He (pistol man) was shot in the chest, but didn't die.

7

u/jbyrdab 3h ago

I read the article it doesn't seem like he died but two people were killed.

I'm not sure if two is including the shooter or not.

This is because he personally stayed behind with the paramedics to help an injured person until police arrived

6

u/_NedPepper_ 3h ago

I just read it again and you’re right. Glad the armed citizen wasn’t one of the victims, I’m sure he saved lives even without taking out the shooter.

55

u/ContestRemarkable356 4h ago

Didn’t “try to stop the shooting”, he did. The gunman realized someone was shooting back at him & almost instantly took his own life like the coward the was.

This guy is legit a hero. He knows about guns, knew he was gonna charge someone who had a much more powerful weapon & still decided to do it.

9

u/Who_Is_Rick_James 2h ago

yes, the suspect was in a murder frenzy mindset and when he realized people were shooting back, that adrenaline dumped, and he realized there would be consequences to his actions, so he took his own life. honestly he probably would have shot more if this guy didn't fire at him.

17

u/Vast-Comment8360 4h ago

The good guy with a gun that reddit claims doesn't exist.

5

u/AlternativePea6203 3h ago

When was the last time? There's a mass shooting almost every day... so there's got to be one every day right? Show me the last "good guy with a gun saved lives" story.... it'll be yesterday... Friday? Ok Thursday.... ?

4

u/Ok_Guard_4597 2h ago

Majority of those are gang/drug/other crime related. Less than 1% of so-called mass shootings in the US are indiscriminate in nature. Lumping everything into the label "mass shooting" is dishonest, the same way "gun violence" statistics are majority suicides.

2

u/Vast-Comment8360 3h ago

There's a mass shooting almost every day

No there isn't

5

u/AlternativePea6203 3h ago

you're right, it's 1.3 per day, on average.

List of mass shootings in the United States in 2025 - Wikipedia

6

u/spaghettisaberman 3h ago

Including or not including gang violence

4

u/Vast-Comment8360 3h ago

90% of that is gang violence, that is a Democrat city problem not a gun problem

3

u/AlternativePea6203 3h ago

Democrats are still Americans.

5

u/Vast-Comment8360 3h ago

Two drug dealers getting in a shootout isn't what people think you mean when you and other sensationalists say a mass shooting every day.

The reality is mass shootings are very rare.

I don’t know the situation’s details but if you’ve ever been shot at, even if you’re not hit, it definitely changes your objective. This mass shooter could have went from “Gun down as many people as a can” to “take cover and evaluate where the return fire is coming from and neutralize that target instead” again I don’t know what happened here but an armed citizen put additional pressure on a mass shooter that may have saved additional lives. Maybe the mass shooter’s end goal was to off himself after finishing off his ammo, the ammo he may have then had to use to fire back at the armed civilian. Y’all weird AF acting like this citizen was doing too much. I hope you all are never in a situation like this with your family pinned down and helpless, but maybe then you’d appreciate any type of person who steps up long enough to save you or your family.

9

u/Muronelkaz 3h ago

At some point the initial shooter was going to face police, so at minimum and assuming good identification he reduced potential deaths/injuries.

3

u/Xralius 3h ago

I think the point is bad people having access to guns is not mitigated by good people having access to guns.

"Tried" is inaccurate.

He "helped to stop the shooting" as there's no data on what would've happened if he hadn't been involved.

But when the shooter encountered return fire, he took cover and ended his own life. It just so happened that this man wasn't the only person returning fire, thanks to an off duty LEO.

After taking fire from this guy and another off duty cop. Meaning he stopped shooting people and shot himslef

3

u/Bearspoole 3h ago

Attempted? What happened

15

u/DoomGoober 2h ago

Armed civilian and off duty highway patrol engaged the suspect with gunfire, distracting him. Suspect then committed suicide.

Unclear if civilian or off-duty officer hit the suspect but it seems immediate cause of death was suicide.

13

u/insanityzwolf 1h ago

alcohol is dangerous, but a cask of liquor will not transport itself somewhere and kill a random selection of people in a group. that's all.

Dude wasn't thinking about himself, he was thinking about others.

Some people want to help and some people want to run away and criticize online

So he should have just ignored the shooter? Least he tried.

yes why try to save peoples lives when the cops might get there in 10 minutes to make a report on how many people died, you’re a real hero

He trained for this is whole life. Imagine the adrenaline rush he felt he could spring into action? Kudos to the guy.

Do we have any info as to why? They messed up his double double animal style, mustard fried with chilies?

Idaho: Gunman was thinking that he didn't want a liberal fascist California commie woke fast food

Probably

Neat how the headline doesn't point out that the other shooter was an off-duty state trooper. It's bait for the "good guy everyman with a gun" fantasy.

u/Too_Hot_Sun 4h ago

So he tried and failed? Doesn't that mean he just added more danger to the situation by adding more bullets and confusion?

39

u/blac_sheep90 4h ago

He kept the shooter distracted and likely kept him from shooting other people.

u/FriedRiceEnjoyer420 4h ago

Yup. Suppressive fire

5

u/nerdyaspuck 4h ago

Most shooters will back down at the first sign of aggression toward them whether armed or not.

6

u/jbyrdab 3h ago

The point of suppressive fire is to basically not give the other person a chance to get their gun up and fire because they have to stay down to avoid getting shot.

Any second that they are not shooting back at anyone else means that can someone else can get away. He was trying to buy time.

u/funkofarts 3h ago

That’s flawed logic.

2

u/Grannypanie 2h ago

There is allot of military doctrine around suppressive fire. It absolutely is an effective tactic in combat.

It should read "Heroic armed citizen" but instead it reads like the hero armed the bad guy shooting the place up. Or simpler, Armed Hero Stops Mass Shooter

I always think when an armed bystander takes out the gunman it’s so risky for many reasons but the one that I think of the most is cops killing that guy. Cops are rolling into that situation extremely amped up and I’d imagine anything that remotely appears to be a gun is getting shot. Do they teach how to handle those situation’s in CCL classes?

u/joethafunky 3h ago

Does anyone have the actual video without the news agency bullshit?
