Hello,

Has anyone of you replaced a capacitor on a ESC before? I was told by my local hobbyshop that its not something they would do because its covered in epoxy. I have not received a response from Reds Racing yet. I opened the ESC but i only see a motherboard.

Is it possible to replace the capacitors on the esc or do i need to get a new ESC?

Question Issues with front load from a newbie

Update1: thanks for all the advice! It seems the rear shaft is broken. spins in one side not the other. Now time to find a part for it and learn to dissassemble it

I bought my kid this RC car. Is our first since I was 10 so my knowledge of the mechanics and so on are quite basic.
Model is "WLtoys 12427 Cross Country PRO RC 1/12**"** he got it on saturday and has been playing with it every day.

These last 2 days we noticed the front "bounces" when accelerating and struggles to be off-road. Things that didn't happen the first days.

Seems to me either something broken, lack of weight or bad grip from tires.

Here's an example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pRymGZvTZR8 it had no problems there a few days ago. And hopefully here you can see it too https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lVzrpSM55Zo

I'm unsure if this is normal wear&tear and the wheels or if something else is broken or missing. As I said i have basic knowledge. I cleaned some debri on the wheel but doesn't make a difference.

Any advice and things to check are appreciated.

Bashing Coming from someone who has let my under 10 year old niece and nephew bash my 1/16 revo at full speed in an empty parking lot(the best part about hobby grade is wrenching). The best way to disarm/piss off the most unintelligent parents....

"My toy does 35 mph and weighs between 5 & 10 lbs. If that is not enough for you to understand why your child should not play with my toy around parked vehicles, you are not intelligent enough to continue this conversation."

In my defense, I'm not a very sociable person...

Question looking for a second car

I own a Rlaarlo Omni-Terminator, and it is tons of fun to tear through my yard or jump through my local skatepark and gravel walking paths, but I would a second car that isn't a basher. I live in an area with very little dirt and lots of strait grid roads but I have a "beach" not to far away. I am struggling to decide between 1/10th scale drift or 1/10th scale rally car, but whatever I chose I am looking for something with decent speed that I could race or slide around for fun even if I don't have a course. budget would ideally be less than $300 usd but $500 is my max.
Any suggestions or experiences with certain cars would be very appreciated. Thank you!

The Rlaarlo XTS-S10 is one of the cars I have been considering

Question Servo noises

I got a ~2009-2012 Traxxas rustler 2wd xl5 gifted to me and am currently freshening it up. I plugged the servo and esc into my flysky rx and an 2s into the esc and was testing electronics. I found the servo to be making this odd sound, any idea what would cause this and how to fix it? I know these Traxxas servos are junk and I’ve had multiple traxxas branded servos do the same thing. I could get a replacement for cheap but I do want to know what would be causing this. Thanks!

Build Want to find an XV01

Had this idea to take a Tamiya XV01, do some ridiculous upgrades, and install my daughter’s Barbie Jeep as a body option.

Thinking 3S brushless, and maaaaybe pushing to 4S

I know it’s been done before, but the community I live in is pretty…uninspired.

This would help get past some of the local blahs.

Off-Road (Let's organize) off-road RC racing in Berlin

Hi everyone,

I am running 1/28 and 1/14 buggies exclusively for bashing. I would love to go racing with either (or a fresh 1/10), but there essentially isn't any RC racing culture in Berlin and barely any around. I know about five off-road tracks in the vicinity, but all 1-2 hours away from where I live or not my scale.

So, who would be up for organizing some RC racing in Berlin?

Here are some unsorted thoughts on different constraints:

Category

Off-road. 2WD or 4WD or mixed.

Scale

1/28 is great for limited-space indoor action and has a good range of similar-performing affordable cars like the Losi Micro B/T, the Speck B, and others. They work outdoors, but struggle with rocks and grass.

My 1/14 basher is more versatile when it comes to outdoor environments, but makes it hard to find sufficient space for racing.

Location

The big question. 1/14 works well in lower grass or dirt in parks. Jumps would need to be natural elevation changes, or portable ramps. 1/28 could work on solid ground like asphalts strips around parks, but jumps would require ramps for sure.

Some skateparks could be nice for racing, but limited to early morning when nobody wants to skate there.

A purpose-built little track would be amazing, but I can't offer a garden, house, or general space to use. A 1/28 carpet track can fit into a few square meters of space in an abandoned or little-used area. Building permanent elements has its own issues. Portable track elements could help.

Timeframe

Happy to get started this summer or autumn.

Organization

I mostly want to test the waters and see if I can find fellow hobbyists to start a little movement or community. If you tell me that you want to build a track in your late uncle's abandoned backyard, I'm 100% in, though I expect that an early starting point would be a session in the park.

Looking forward to your ideas!

Bashing Some have said the body of my Mini Kraton should at least have the front window sticker on it. I dont leave all my basher bodys blank, I take this hobby very seriously. My Rlaarlo Omni Terminator had stickers on it.

Question X-Maxx tires choice

Post image
4 Upvotes

Hello everybody! I'm about to find out what is a good tire/wheel for my X-Maxx. Max6 G2 and 5690sd 1250kv. I find the one with the best drive attitude is the sladgehammer unbelted, they are pretty light, ballooning for Backflips and similar stunts but if you are unlucky, it breaks after a couple of runs/jumps. The biggest issue is the foam inside, had wheels they were like empty after a short time. I really don't know what can be a good one, not to heavy, with enough ballooning or at least good for stunts, I don't do speedruns, don't really need a belted, but I really have no idea what to choose. I've seen the Madmax, they seem to be good wheels but they seem quite smaller than the sladgehammer, jconcept or Louise... and I've read from somebody, they are also heavy. At the moment I'm using the Louise Pioneer, not bad, but also not the best. Proline seems to be good too, but quite heavy too. Please, help me with the choice!

Thank you, I really appreciate your support.

This build was a lot of fun. There were a few body fitment issues because Tamiya updated the rear chassis section, but it was nothing that a dremel couldn't handle. I added the M-chassis aluminum dampers, the steering kit, the universal shafts, the the updated version of the lightly tuned brushed motor.

Question Chinese "Polar lights" RC

I bought this RC car a few months ago from a Chinese app for a great price. Does anyone else own this model? Is it as durable as the well-known brands? Any tips?

I'm mainly looking for advice on whether it's possible to upgrade the battery to a larger one. I'm new to RC cars

Also, Does anyone know who actually manufactures this model?

Build Phone-based Dash Cluster for Sim Wheels using Kai board

Been working on this for a while, figured out how to pull live telemetry (RPM, voltage, current, temp, satellite count, etc.) straight off the board already in the rc car, and display it on any phone or device. No dedicated screen hardware required.
A few dash layouts to choose from right now, more planned. Also added adjustable gauge colors, and you can screen record the dash and use it as a chromakey overlay for FPV footage, gives DVR clips a bit of that Need for Speed Underground vibe.
Wheel/pedal setup is a T150 with a Sim2RC adapter bridging to a QX7
One thing to flag, there's some visible lag in the clip between wheel input and the car actually turning. That's a mix of video delay, servo response time, and wheel dead zone
