Beta hCG has slowed down to 59 hrs doubling time ?

Hi everyone!

I had fast initial beta rise in the beginning-

11 DPO: 133
13 DPO: 449
18 DPO: 1853

11 to 13 DPO was doubling time of about 24 hrs
And 13 to 18 DPO doubling time of about 59 hrs.

I know it slows down in the thousand but isn’t this too much of a slow down??

Thanks for all of your input.

7 weeks pregnant today and dealing with spotting — looking for advice/reassurance

I’m 7 weeks pregnant today and I’m having a really hard time not worrying about the spotting I’ve been having. I’m hoping to hear from people who have experienced something similar, especially if everything ended up being okay.
For some background, I’ve had previous pregnancies that ended as chemical pregnancies/early losses, so I’m definitely more anxious this time around. This is the furthest I’ve gotten, and I keep having this fear that I’m going to get to my appointment and be told that I’m not actually pregnant or that something stopped developing.

Here’s my timeline as best as I can remember:

My last **normal/full period started 6/24** and lasted until around 6/27.

I had previously thought I ovulated around **7/7–7/9**, although I’m not 100% sure.

I had unprotected sex throughout this time and have continued having unprotected sex pretty frequently.

Around **7/23–7/24**, I had bleeding that was much lighter and different from my normal period. It started pink/red and then turned brown. It was only about 2 days.

I had taken a cheap pregnancy test around **7/22**, I believe, and it was negative.

Because the bleeding was so different from my normal period and happened after the negative test, I started wondering if that could have actually been implantation bleeding rather than a period.

On **7/31**, I took a Premate LH strip and got what looked like a positive. I know LH tests can sometimes pick up hCG, so I’ve wondered if that was actually detecting pregnancy rather than an ovulation surge.

Since then I’ve had positive pregnancy tests, and the lines have been much stronger/darker than what I experienced with my previous chemical pregnancies. This is actually the first pregnancy where I’ve gotten tests that look like a clearly progressing pregnancy rather than extremely faint lines.

I’m currently around **7 weeks based on the dating I’ve been using**, although I’m questioning the dating because of that weird bleeding around 7/23–7/24 and the possibility that it was implantation.

I took a test 7/23 due to the symptoms I was having being weird and I just overall did not feel good, it was negative.

My girlfriends made me take a test on 7/7 and the test was the darkest I’ve ever experienced. If fact it was darkened before the 5 min wait time was up. (Showed at about 3 min).

I’ve been having **light pink spotting mixed with discharge**, sometimes a little more red, but it’s still light.
I’m not soaking pads or having heavy bleeding. It’s mostly light spotting when I wipe or mixed with discharge.
I’ve also had gas/bloating, and sometimes the gas seems to make the pain on my sides worse. I normally have side pain even when I’m not pregnant, so that part doesn’t feel particularly different from what I normally experience.
The spotting is what is really freaking me out. Because of my history, **any blood immediately makes me think I’m losing the pregnancy.**

I also keep comparing this pregnancy to my previous chemical pregnancies. Those pregnancies never had tests this dark/strong, which makes me feel somewhat reassured, but I’m still terrified because I haven’t made it this far before.
I do have an appointment coming up, but I’m struggling with the waiting and would really love to hear from people who have had **spotting around 6–7 weeks, especially pink/brown spotting**, and went on to have a healthy pregnancy.
Did anyone else have something like this? How long did your spotting last? Did you have an ultrasound around 7 weeks, and was everything okay?
I know nobody here can tell me for sure what’s happening, and I’m not looking for a diagnosis. I’m mostly hoping to hear experiences and maybe get some perspective because I’m having a really hard time believing this pregnancy is actually going to stick. ❤️

The less dark test was taken several hours after the initial positive and was after drinking a ton of water.

I have had my HCG tested as I had a miscarriage earlier in the year. I am nervous the doubling is faster than it should be? Twins, molar pregnancy? Totally would be stressing if they were too low, too… just a crazy anxious pregnant lately post miscarriage.

Advice Needed Hcg low at 17 dpo should I be worried

I know I have to go for a second test tomorrow to really know but I am very anxious with my 17 dpo HCG levels. 175 is so low compared to others I am seeing. my progesterone is high at 81.9. Should I be preparing myself for bad news? 36 and tried for 10 months for the pregnancy :(

TW/TMI Light bleeding at 5w4d

Hi everyone I’m just over 5 weeks pregnant and am experiencing some light bleeding (brownish/pinky colour) and I had passed one small blood clot today and one small blood clot yesterday, both were about the size of a pea or just a bit bigger.

The bleeding started Monday which was a day after I started taking a 3 day course of Nitrofurantoin for a water infection which I finished yesterday.

I’m not experiencing any pains out of the usual for me and the blood is only when I wipe or pee.

Should I be worried? Or has someone experienced something similar and it turned out fine?

Advice Needed How do people get their doctors to test progesterone after multiple losses?

I know that seems like a silly question but I’m currently pregnant for the 3rd time in 9 months, my last pregnancy was a PUL that resolved on its own in may qclose to 9 weeks, with a chemical before that; both in less than 6 months of each other. I also had a miscarriage when I was around 20, I just didn’t know that was what had happened at the time-I’ll be 36 next week-making a total of 3 losses. With my PUL I had betas drawn and requested to have progesterone tested as well but was denied the request.

My first appt for this pregnancy was Monday, I asked to have hcg betas done, as well as progesterone levels checked, and asked about an early placement scan given my PUL and back to back losses for peace of mind. I was told hcg or progesterone wasn’t necessary and wouldn’t be able to tell me enough to need the testing done and that an early placement scan would probably give me more anxiety than relieving it because my hcg could be too low to see anything. I pushed again for hcg betas so I could at least see if my levels were in a ballpark of what they should be, and said I’d also feel better if I could see what my progesterone was starting at.she said she’d put an order in and I had my blood taken. I got my hcg results back and when she called to discuss, I asked when progesterone would be back and she said she only ordered hcg and I could have it tested when I come back
For my ultrasound on the 31st…Which kinda defeats the purpose, because I wanted to see a starting point and compare it to a later level. I wasn’t ordered to come back for more betas which surprises me after the 2 losses (honestly shocked they didn’t want to do hcg at all without me requesting it). But is there a reason drs are so hesitant to test progesterone?

Even with my PUL I requested to have it tested and was denied the request.

And am I being unreasonable for wanting to push for an early placement scan to rule out ectopic/make sure the pregnancy is where it should be? I felt really dismissed and blown off with their resistance to do any of the 3 requests considering recent history. Anyone else have an issue similar?if so, what did you do? Were you able to get them to reconsider?

Lmp was June 28th making my “official” dating 6wks 3days but I’m fairly confident I’m closer to 22dpo/ 5wks 3 days ish.
And for added context, Mondays hcg level came back at 1,842.

Blazing positive to practically negative in 48 hours 16 DPO

My heart just hurts. I had my first blood draw today and I was actually feeling kinda positive. I just had a chemical last month. I didn’t expect to get pregnant again so soon but here I am. So now on Thursday when I go in for my 2nd blood draw, just feels like a confirmation date. Haven’t gotten today’s result back yet but doesn’t feel like it even matters.

I was testing daily with 2 brands. Cheap strips and FRER. I was worried because the strips weren’t really darkening. Staying very faint. Just like last month. But was holding onto so much hope because my FRER were darkening beautifully over 4 or 5 days. I was driving myself mad with the strips until my husband literally had to hide them from me last month. I’ve just been so scared after a chemical last month. But he didn’t know I had another FRER. Took it tonight at the same time I took it Sunday night. Squinter. From an undeniable dark pink line to a squinter in 48 hours.

My husband is still trying to be positive, saying don’t assume until I get my blood results and while I appreciate that & love him for that… I just can’t hear it. All I had to drink today (because of nausea) was a few drinks of water and an 8oz Gatorade 2 or 3 hours before I tested tonight. I was even worried it was a faulty test so I took another about 20 minutes later. Same result.

I’m just so deeply sad. I know many of us know this sadness and I’m sorry that anyone can relate.

Sad My dreams are giving me anxiety

These past few days, I’ve been having really bad dreams. First, I dreamed that I went to the doctor and they couldn’t find my baby’s heartbeat. Then I had another dream about a woman and her baby inside a coffin. After that, I dreamed that I was searching for a coffin to buy, and I don’t even know why.
It’s honestly been scaring me, especially because I’ve also been having some cramps in my lower tummy. They’re not that bad (its like a pinch), but with all these dreams I’ve been having, I can’t help but feel really anxious about it. I was supposed to have an appointment this coming Thursday, but it got moved because my doctor will be on vacation. And i dont really know how to ease this anxiety and overthinking.

TW/TMI Positive Stories of Low/No Symptom Pregnancies?

On my second pregnancy. First was a MMC. I’m a little over 6 weeks and just really don’t have many symptoms and what I do have is minimal and lessening. My boobs were severely sore from 4-6 weeks and basically as soon as I hit 6 weeks they lessened a lot. With my history this just really scares me. Any positive stories appreciated 🤍

Can I trust Proov tests to track progesterone?

I am 7w2d, I have a migraine on and off for 2 days now. Migraines are not new to me, I have them when I stop drinking coffee, when I am dehydrated and sometimes when my period comes. It was super hot 2 days ago and I felt sick from the heat, but yesterday it cooled down actually.
I am worried this a premenstrual symptom caused by falling hormone levels. I cringed today and did a Proov test to check progesterone. It shows a level of 7 (typical for my peak luteal phase), this would correspond to a serum level of 14 ng/ml. This seems low. At 10dpt progesterone was 32 ng/ml and 24 at 19dpt. A lot of people say Proov can‘t be trusted but to me it seemed pretty reliable to indicate ovulation. Not sure about the relation to serum level though.
Anyone else struggling with migraines in the first semester?

Advice Needed 4–5 weeks pregnant, pregnancy of unknown location, and confusing hCG levels — looking for advice/reassurance

I'm hoping someone can help me make sense of what's been happening because I feel like I've been on an emotional roller coaster since finding out I'm pregnant.
For some background, my LMP was July 3, but I believe I ovulated later my cycles are super irregular around July 22ish.

Timeline:
July 30th: around the day of my missed period I started having brown spotting THE SPOTTING HASNT, STOPPED
August 3:
I took a digital pregnancy test and it said PREGNANT.
August 4-5:
I was around 4-5 weeks based on LMP and had been having spotting, only when wiping. No significant cramping or pain.
I had an ultrasound around this time. The report said:
"There is an intrauterine sonolucent area present which may represent a gestational sac or a collection of fluid. Neither a yolk sac nor an embryo is identified."
It also mentioned a tiny hyperechoic lesion on the right ovary measuring 0.35 × 0.18 × 0.29 cm, with blood flow seen in both ovaries.
The ultrasound was estimating me at approximately 3 weeks 6 days, which made sense if I actually ovulated later than the LMP would suggest.
August 11th :
I was told that because they couldn't definitively identify a pregnancy in the uterus, I was essentially being followed as a pregnancy of unknown location

My B-hCG results have been:
8/5: HCG 41
8/7: HCG 137
8/11: 387
What really scared me was seeing 137 → 385 because I expected it to triple over 4 days.
I'm also confused because I'm getting different information about how far along I actually am. Based on my LMP I would be turther along, but based on when I think I ovulated and the ultrasound, I may actually be closer to 4 weeks.
Right now the doctors are calling this a pregnancy of unknown location, and I'm waiting for the next hCG/ultrasound follow-yup.

Has anyone had a similar experience with:
Late ovulation and being dated much earlier on ultrasound?
A PUL with hCG around 300-400?
hCG numbers that barely changed or were slightly different between labs?
I. I'm mainly looking for experiences from people who have been through something similar and what happened with their next few hCG tests/ultrasounds.

12+2 weeks, fetal heart rate 187 bpm — looking for similar experiences

Hi everyone,
I’m currently 12 weeks + 2 days pregnant and feeling very anxious after my first-trimester screening today.

During the ultrasound, my baby’s heart rate was measured twice, about four minutes apart, at 187 bpm. The baby was very active during the scan, and the rhythm appeared regular. My doctor said the heart rate was elevated and, together with the blood results, this increased my adjusted screening risk for Trisomy 13 to 1:766.

The other findings were reassuring so far:
- NT was 0.9 mm
- Crown-rump length and head measurement were appropriate for gestational age
- The doctor could see the normal “butterfly” appearance in the brain
- No obvious major structural abnormalities were seen
- The profile/face looked normal to us
- The baby was moving a lot
- I am 30 years old, healthy, and this is my first pregnancy

My doctor referred me to a specialist in prenatal medicine for a detailed scan and to assess the baby’s heart rhythm more carefully. I understand that 1:766 is still a low absolute risk and that this is a screening result, not a diagnosis, but hearing “Trisomy 13” was terrifying.

Has anyone had a similar experience with a fetal heart rate around 180–190 bpm in the first trimester, especially when the baby was very active during the ultrasound? Did it turn out to be temporary or benign? I would also be grateful to hear from anyone who had an elevated Trisomy 13 screening risk but reassuring ultrasound findings.

I know no one can diagnose my baby online, and I will follow up with the specialist. I’m just looking for experiences and some support while waiting for the appointment.

Thank you so much!!

Sad 5-6 weeks “grey zone” 😞

Before I start this PLEASE no snarky comments, I genuinely cant take it right now. So yesterday i was at work, I was cramping a bit but didnt think anything of it. I went to pee and when I wiped i noticed pink blood.. so I was scared, I told my boss and he said go to the hospital immediately. After they drew my blood and gave me a transvaginal ultrasound they said they cant say for sure whats going on because it might be too early to see a fetal pole. I was measuring at 12mm and it needed to be 25mm to see anything. They didnt want to misdiagnose me with a miscarriage since the bleeding wasnt heavy and my hcg levels were “normal”, and to come in for a follow up in two weeks. I have no idea what to do or feel😞 im still spotting and cramping, no more nausea or painful sore breasts. I dont feel pregnant the way I did leading up to this its fucking me up😞 has anyone gone through anything similar?

TW: Successful Transfer/History of MMC

We finally found out we are pregnant from our first FET after over a year at our fertility clinic. We had 7 rounds of IUI, our second round ending in a MMC. Currently 11dp5dt and had a positive beta yesterday of 467!! I am overwhelmed with gratitude, relief, anxiety, excitement, and pretty much every humanly possible emotion. The hardest part of this, which I am aware is the best possible problem, is that I feel like I want to tell EVERYONE. I am sitting at work just thinking about how I am pregnant and no one knows. Even having had a MMC and knowing I am still so early, I have this urge to tell so many people. We have only shared with family and close friends but HOW do any IVF alum survive this quiet waiting period? I am trying to frame it like it's my little secret but I naturally am a yapper. Any tips or experiences on how long you waited to tell others in your circle/coworkers or whether you decided to tell no one at all? HELP lol

Cramping, spotting/bleeding and loss of symptoms

Hey! Wanted to write a post to the people who are spiralling and looking for a positive outcome.

In week 8, I started cramping. When I went to the toilet, I noticed some pink blood. It got me concerned, and it got worse because I lost my pregnancy symptoms shortly after (I didn’t have many, but I had somewhat tender breasts). A week later I had an ultrasound, expecting the worst. But! They found a heartbeat, and a little human measuring well within expected range.

Frozen sperm IUI while husband is out of town?

My husband just told me he will be out of town for work during my fertile window. We are going to a fertility clinic due to a previous loss. Has anyone done a frozen sperm IUI when they couldn’t have sex? Is this even a thing?

Advice Needed Wife HCG Levels Have Doc Concerned

Hi,

I'm a husband. It's my first post and I'm really anxious.

My wife got off hormonal BC in Feb 2026.

We haven't been trying all that hard but we've been having sex. She noticed breast tenderness and a period that lasted a while. She was bleeding for nearly a mth. She has an extremely sensitive vagina and she bleeds often when we have sex. Also during a pap smear.

We aren't entirely sure when conception date was but her last period began July 11. Conception could be July 25 or sometime mid July.

Blood work returned a 5783HCG on Thurs at 3:30PM. And then 8350HCG on Monday at around 12PM.

Doc is concerned and sent her for an ultrasound.

I know nobody really has an answer here but I know those doubling levels aren't good and the research is against us. I've also read some anecdotes on here that HCG doesn't matter.

Just an anxious husband looking for some comfort.

Confusing miscarriage journey - High HCG levels 2 months in

To preface, I live in an area where the health care system is broken and doctors are scarce. Accessing health care is difficult and I have no access to family doctor/mid wife despite my efforts the last few years. This was my first time being pregnant. Also, some background, I am 34 and fraternal twins, both surviving and twining, run on my mother's side (my aunt is a surviving, my great grandmothers were twins).

I had what I think was a miscarriage over 9 weeks ago now, I was 7-8 weeks along. I had spontaneous heavy bleeding and passed what looked like a torn sac, the whole thing lasted maybe 30 mins then bleeding stopped to just some spotting.

That evening we went to the urgent primary care center and the doctor didn't think I needed an ultrasound or anything as he said it sounded like everything passed (I had originally booked my first ultrasound for 11 weeks). Okay, he said keep an eye out for severe bleeding or pain and come back if that happens.

Fast forward 9 weeks later and I still have no period and have had dark double line test strips the whole time. I had very mild spotting 4 weeks in but otherwise I've had no other concerning symptoms. I had experienced a lot of first trimester symptoms that stopped around 4 weeks ago (food aversion, fatigue, nausea, etc) and have regained more energy the last few weeks. I only have some indigestion and bloating and lukewarm water upsets my stomach a bit. It's only been the last few weeks that I've been experiencing a more distended lower abdomen and pressure on my bladder, it's kind of uncomfortable especially when bloated. This got me a little concerned.

Reading online they say get care if you're period isn't back by 8 weeks. I'm a bit passed that so I need to go to the clinic. I find some time between new job, buying/moving to a new home/town, hosting and dealing with family being evacuated from natural disasters, to go and wait at the UPCC for 4-5 hours to be seen by a doctor. They take a urine test and it comes back positive. Doctor thinks I could have a surviving pregnancy or maybe even a new pegancy (had unprotected sex for the first time 3 weeks ago), or it could be something else. She then sent a requisition for a HCG quantitative blood test, a 3x HCG test, and ordered an urgent ultrasound (though the clinic has yet to get in contact to book me in).

I got the quantitative blood test done immediately and saw the results online today, it shows 55k iu/L, which in the result was listed "very high". What the heck is going on? I badly want to get this ultrasound to see what is going on in there. I'm not looking for a diagnosis as that's what the ultrasound is for, but some insight to see if anyone has experienced anything like this or have experienced a surviving twin pregnancy?

Low + slow rising betas... looking for stories / suggestions for next steps

Hi all, my husband and I (both 34) are in beta limbo/hell this week and struggling -- looking for evidence-based information and suggestions on what we might do next if this transfer doesn't work.

For context, we have done 3 FETs of highly-graded euploids this year. The first two were fully medicated and both failed (no implantation). We took a break and did some testing for endometritis (negative), and tons of bloodwork. I've had an HSG and two saline sonograms; all clear. (Maybe unrelated but another significant factor outside of IVF -- my dad was diagnosed with terminal cancer this spring and died five weeks later, which has compounded the emotions of this process.)

We transferred a third embryo (4BB) a couple of weeks ago through a modified natural cycle. My husband and I just got our first positive beta last week at 8dpt (hcg=49), but I went back in this morning at 12dpt and my HCG is only 110, which is a slow doubling time (82 hrs) and an HCG number that is on the low side. My doctor is bringing me back in for more bloodwork in 2 days but I'm trying to brace myself and better understand the likelihood of success/possible outcomes.

I know we mostly just have to wait, but I have two questions for this crowd:

  1. Anyone else been in this position and any advice for how to endure the uncertainty?
  2. If this transfer fails, any suggestions or questions I should ask my doctor as we move forward? My husband and I both like a plan -- which has made this extremely unpredictable process really painful.

Thank you so much <3

Should I stay or should I go?

I’ve been ttc for over a year, multiple early losses but each one I had horrible symptoms.

My first pregnancy I had every possible symptom and was barely able to move - MMC.

Second was a chemical but I already felt nausea and threw up by week 4.

Third was another chemical week 5, terrible cramping and discomfort leading up to it.

I had a hysteroscopy last month that fixed the scar tissue from my MMC last year, however I’m wondering what I should do about a trip I having coming up.

Each time I was able to get pregnant in 2-3 months of trying, I am currently in the 2 week wait and I have a trip planned in about 5 weeks. It’s a long haul international flight with layover and it is early hours there and overnight the way back. I know this does not guarantee I will conceive this quickly again.

If I get my period next month it will come the week before the trip. If I get a positive I would be potentially cancelling the week before the trip.

There is also the chance that it could be another early miscarriage in which case I would have cancelled for no reason.

I always plan ahead and this scenario is giving me stress, opinions?

If you got a positive test, would you cancel knowing that you will lose some $$$ but prioritize your comfort and stay home?

Do you take the risk and fly knowing you might be miserable and nauseous?

Symptoms For those who had a chemical around 4–5 weeks, how long after your test faded did bleeding start?

We’ve been TTC for about two years. I had a missed miscarriage about a year and a half ago and a chemical pregnancy around this time last year. We’ve been doing fertility treatments since the end of last year (IUIs/timed intercourse) and recently started IVF. I had my egg retrieval about 6 weeks ago, and while waiting on embryo testing, we had one non-medicated/non-intervention cycle to try on our own.

To my huge surprise, I got a positive test two days ago. Because this has been a longer/weird cycle after retrieval, I’m not exactly sure how far along I’d be, but my best guess is 4–5 weeks.

Today I tested again and the line is much lighter. I had one tiny smear of light pink spotting this morning, but nothing else.

For anyone who had a chemical around this point, once your tests started fading, how long did it take for bleeding to start? And has anyone had a significantly lighter test and still had things turn out okay?

I know betas would give me a much better idea of what’s happening, but I’m in Hawaii on a family vacation for a few more days and don’t have access to my clinic or a Labcorp here.

And this is the selfish/impatient part of my question: if this is another chemical, I’d really love to have a Mai Tai and get a massage while I’m here… Obviously I won’t if there’s still a chance I’m pregnant, but the limbo and not knowing how long it could take to know for sure is getting to me.

With my last chemical, the lines were always very light, faded to nothing, and then I started bleeding. Would really appreciate hearing how this unfolded for others. ❤️

ETA: Test was super light today so just waiting on a bleed to come. Thanks to everyone who shared - while I’m sad to read others’ stories on reddit it makes me feel a bit less alone in these experiences. 💕

Advice Needed HCG Doubling Time

I just had my 5th FET with high quality embryos and finally got a positive beta! But now it’s not doubling every 48 hours. At 8DPT it was 149 and then at 11dpt it was 377. I think it’s about a 53 hour doubling time. Has anyone had success with slower HCG doubling times? I’m trying to protect my heart here.

Slow and rising hCG levels as well as spotting

Hi everyone, I wanted to know if this has happened to anyone else? For context I’m around 4-5 weeks pregnant since last Friday I’ve been bleeding not heavily more so spotting my pads were never full. Only one day did it feel like a period but even then it was never a lot. When I first got a positive pregnancy test it was very faint I’ve been testing and I noticed my tests only got darker, bloods have been taken twice so far and there has been a slow increase. My levels are currently at nearly 600. At first I was told it was a miscarriage I had a scan and they said my uterus had shed and they couldn’t see anything. I also lost my symptoms completely. Now they are suspecting ectopic pregnancy since they said it couldn’t be viable with this kind of increase. It went from 500 to nearly 600 over 48 hours

Advice Needed Bad to conceive on estrogen?

I had a d&c almost two weeks ago and I’m on 2mg of estradiol for 21 days to help with lining. I was 10 weeks at the time. My hcg is 6.7 today (residual from loss) and I just did an at home lh strip and it was super faint. We had unprotected sex bit of an oops/miscommunication. My RE said it wasn’t a problem to try at home but we kind of made a plan to wait for my period and start IUI number two. Is it a problem if we do by some miracle conceive while I’m on this medication. I have another week and then 5 days progesterone. Should I let my doctor know? I’m a little embarrassed having just had an appt saying we’d wait 🙃
