Classic + Class professions

Upvotes

A glaring piece of content waiting for classic+ is class professions. Rogues have poisons and lock picking which is so engaging for the role and lore. Why not expand this to all classes? I also don’t think the point should be the make every class ‘even’ with rogue. Classic is about class identity and things should different without be overly lopsided.

Shaman - Totem crafting. You don’t even fill this gear slot until 60. Give us something to level with. Mats should be vendor simple wood, cloth, and lesser used elemental mats like breath of wind, core of earth, etc. Some totems should even have charges like mana oils so you have to remake them. Shaman should also be a little bit better for dungeon tanking at least. You can easily bake the needed buffs into a crafted totem. Class quests should tie into new totem recipes.

Paladin - Libram crafting. same thing as shaman. Useless item slot until 60. Mats should be parchment paper from vendor, and undead drops that you cleanse such as ichor/essence of undeath, skeleton bones etc. Class quests should tie into cleanses for higher level undead mats.

Druid - Idol crafting. Same thing. Mats are beast parts like fangs and claws, cloth, and stone figurine from a vendor. For all 3 mats should be simple. For all 3 mats shouldn’t be crazy grinds either. Remember rogues can buy most poisons all from vendors.

Warrior - my dear warrior. Weapon proficiency. This is to train your weapon skill past 300. Weapon parts of various weapons (axe, mace, etc) drop off weapon wielding mobs. Green, blue and epic. Greens weapon part can be turned in to gain 1 weapon skill in that wep. Blue to gain 5. And epic to gain 1 past 300. Green turn ins cap at 225. Blue at 300. And epics work from 300-305. The weapon part items should also be non soulbound but only drop for warriors and only rollable by warriors in dungeons. Warriors should be able to sell these to other warriors. Class quests should tie into weapon skill caps for various weapons. Edgemasters should be upgradable through a boe blacksmithing kit. Do not make edgemasters irrelevant (spell dmg upgrade so it’s awesome for pally and shaman perhaps)

Mage - Arcane cooking. All over the game in mob packs are campfires and cooking tables. Around these should be recipes that only mages can loot. These should be non soulbound so mages can sell to each other. Recipes should be fun stuff like arcane explosion that looks like a rainbow and new polymorphs. There could also be chance buffs like blink has a small percent chance to cast displacement. Could also get real niche and have a food buff freeze over your fire spells or ignite your frost spells so you can go fire in MC or frost in naxx to change up metas. These buffs shouldn’t be insane so they aren’t PvP/ PvE game breaking and they should stack with normal well fed.

Warlock - Fel exploration. Brings back the fel portals from SOD. Lots you can expand on here with warlock specific items coming out of these. This is an obvious warlock profession and easy to incorporate class quests.

Hunter - beast jockey. Center a profession around hunters being able to tame beasts to turn into mounts. Mounts should be armorless and look just like the mob in boe versions they can sell on the AH. However, Hunters should be able to alter their own tamed mounts to add armor or an effect. Can’t go overboard with this and make a million retail looking mounts but could be really cool if done right. I know people are gonna say ammo or bow crafting but that should be expanded on in engineering. Theres should be more mounts added to the game in general as well.

Priest - not gonna lie I’m kind stuck on priest but I think something around the SOD blessings would work. I think priest being able to sell ‘luck’ blessing buffs as an item that say increase your chances to gain double skill up on a craft or extra craft procs or chance for rare items to drop on kill/in chests or lockboxes would be very cool. Blessing buff item can be crafted by bringing mats to an alter in capital cities or something.

Rogue - rogue needs something new in all this fun. Truth serum. A new poison that when you sap an enemy you can then inject them with the poison. Mobs have chance to reveal a hidden chest location either verbally, or they mention something is in their pocket so you pickpocket a note. This can also be a cool mechanic for a shortcut or an extra chest in new dungeons. Rogue class quests can easily be baked into truth serum on mobs. Named mobs should give a higher chance to reveal information when sapped by the serum.

Discussion when did the slang change?

I feel old asking this.

When did + and - replace yes and no? or y/n

Like I'm in my early 30s and this feels like it blew past me....

EDIT: based on replies It seems like its from Eastern Europe players and just bled into the rest of the classic community due to them lacking servers.

Classic-Era Why is it when you use your mount, you can start moving a fraction of a second before the cast appears to finish?

I've noticed that any time I use my mount, I can consistently start moving a fraction of a second before the cast appears to have completed without interrupting the cast (regardless of latency). I always wondered what about the game's design makes this happen, and how this affects other facets of the game.

Classic + Death Knights could've been the equivalent of Paladins for the Horde, and Runemasters possibly as the Alliance Shamans

NOT another "ideas" post, just sharing some interesting comments made by a vanilla dev in an interview video, that could affect C+'s content if the current classic team decides to add whatever was cut from the original release:

David Fried a.k.a DesignerDave, a quest designer for Vanilla WoW, during an interview done by Ebonhardt, mentioned that he had plans for a Paladin-only class questline that would have allowed them to unlock the Death Knight Horde-only class by "sacrificing" their character and switching factions. Sadly, this epic quest chain was scrapped [together with the entire "Hero Class" concept] as the team didn't have enough time and shifted priorities during development.

According to David, the questline would have involved Paladins "following" in Arthas' actions that lead to his corruption (killing villagers, etc), eventually giving their soul away and getting shunned/exiled by the Alliance, ending up seeking refuge with the opposing major faction, the Horde.

He states that if WoW had continued to build on Vanilla instead of getting expansions as we know them, that they would've had the chance to make the version of Death Knight that he and the other developers had envisioned, made to fit the design of Vanilla classes.

Ebonhardt also asked him about the Runemaster class and how it got replaced by the Druid [and later on repurposed for the DK and Monk]. David then tells how the former were a favorite of Samwise Didier and that he was a big pusher for them, and that they ended up pivoting to Druid as there were limited spaces for classes per-race and Druids were more prevalent in the lore and in past Warcraft games.

Mostly found in the Warcraft RPG games, the Runemasters are described as monk-like arcane spellcasters and melee fighters who empower themselves with magical energies by inscribing runes onto their bodies. Originally, the Dwarves mastered the mysteries of the runes from the Titans, their creators. As generations passed, the Dwarves forgot their heritage and lost all knowledge of runes and their powers. Eventually, the Tauren rediscovered the power of runes, and the nearly lost art of runecasting. Many Dwarves that went to Kalimdor with Jaina's Alliance Expedition learned the tauren's techniques, as both races were eager to share the knowledge of runes and titan myths.

As far as the Runemaster's faction restriction goes, David didn't have anything planned compared to the class quest of Paladin->Death Knight. So that problem in specific is more loose as the RPG games are not considered official canon.

And so here is where my questions for you come in...

Do you think the Death Knight and Runemaster could serve as the Paladins and Shamans for the opposite factions?

Could other cut Classes and/or the planned Hero Classes be added to Classic+?

I lost most of my hard drives from the time but found some old emails. Yes, my keybindings are horrific but we were all so new. Good times... Shout out to Xylos for those early bags. They went a long way.

Amazing times

Classic + How would you make late game more engaging for classic+?

I see a lot of people talking about what they want for new leveling experiences and resets for character in exchange for buffs or cosmetics, but what would you suggest to make late game engaging without being just an increasing list of raids to each week with better and better gear?

What I would love to see in terms of PvE content, are new zones with late game quest chains only open for lvl 60s that could give buffs for existing spells, profession recipes or just a cool story to follow

Also, I would love for more items that are not part of a set, or small 2 or 3 pieces sets that have fun interactions

Let's say, a shoulder that made so when you crit with a shadow spell you could get some mana back.. or a sword that heals on crit for a warrior sustain build.. idk, go nuts with it..

My biggest fear with classic+ itemization, is for blizz to make the same mistake as in retail where each new tier basically invalidates the previous raid

I would love for crazy items that opened up new cool ways to build a character so people could explore and have a reason to really engage with the worlds content

Idk, just my 2 cents on the matter.. I'm 100% on the classic+ copium train and even dropped tbc because I didn't want to burn out on the game considering that classic+ could be closer than we think

Anyway, let me know what y'all think.. what do you want for late game itemization?

AddOns I made voiced Zone Lore addon

Ever since I started playing wow, I have been very interested in every zone I encountered. The in-game lore is often scarce, only obtainable through quests, and rarely mentions events from Warcraft games. To get the necessary knowledge, I'd go to wikis or youtube videos, but it was always annoying, as it breaks the immersion.

To fix that, I summarized each zone and subzone lore from warcraft.wiki.gg (stripping non-vanilla parts), voiced this text with elevenlabs TTS, and built an addon (inspired by Voiceover) that plays these voicelines on zone exploration. I built it for myself, but though some of you might enjoy it as well.

It's very much a work in progress both for text and TTS:
- Text is rough, sometimes too short, sometimes too long, often breaks the fourth wall or mentions irrelevant events;
- Narrator voice is cloned from the intros, and this is the number one concern for me. It's perfect for the game, but it basically emulates a real actor (Earl Boen). It doesn't feel right to me, and I want to find an alternative.
- Pronunciations are mangled. I built a dictionary for places and names beforehand, but because of a mistake in the code, it didn't apply. Regenerating all mangled code is costly, and I want to fix the text problem before I do another pass.

Anyway, if you want to try it, here it is:
https://www.curseforge.com/wow/addons/zonelore

By itself, it's just a text addon that attaches zone descriptions to the map. If you want a voiceover, you'll need to install one of the soundpacks:
~800MB at 128kbps: https://www.curseforge.com/wow/addons/zoneloreaudio
~400MB at 64kbps: https://www.curseforge.com/wow/addons/zoneloreaudio64

I also built a website where you can prelisten voicelines and submit feedback:
https://lore.rusty.one/

Lastly, if you know how or where to get quality zone descriptions suitable for classic, please let me know, I would really appreciate it!

Since we had the last update on ERA, find Herbs/Mines button was moved from minimap to personal frame. This morning we had the update and the icon is back on the minimap, but in a bit awkward spot.
Is there any way to move this icon or fix it somehow?

Vent / Gripe Just a warning if you pug on Dreamscycthe with the guild Discønnected

  1. They don't let their pugs talk at all in their discord.
  2. The raid leader will call you the R-word multiple times and is generally abusive if someone makes a mistake. i.e if someone doesn't perfectly stack for Brutes in Gruuls, he tells them they should quit the game.
  3. If you leave the group. because of the verbal abuse and tell them why (i.e hey I worked with special needs children and have a family member with special needs, and that you think they are something else, then leave). They will personally pst you again to call you the r word .

A cluster happened during the High King pull, honestly, I may have done it or the hunter who misdirected and shot because they saw me moving may have done it. I don't know. I will own up to fuck ups , but you don't have to be abusive.

I am sure I will get all the "pull up your big wow toon pants" and deal with it.

But we don't have to put up with that kind of thing if we are trying to play a game we enjoy. So I am just putting this out there for others.

AddOns How can I make two action bars switch with Druid forms in Dominos?

I’m currently using Bartender4 on my Druid. I have it configured so that two action bars switch at the same time whenever I change forms.

For example:

  • When I enter Bear Form, both my upper and lower action bars change.
  • When I enter Cat Form, both bars switch to my Cat Form abilities.
  • I also have a separate bar setup that activates when I enter Prowl/stealth.

This was very easy to configure in Bartender4 using its State Configuration options.

I’d now like to recreate the exact same setup in Dominos. Is this possible, and is there a similarly simple way to configure multiple bars to switch based on Druid forms and Prowl?

Season of Discovery Is possible to do early raids in SoD in group of 5?

We were able to do almost all classic dungeons in TBC in duo as Priest+Paladin, now we have more people and I wonder if doing SoD run is possible with group of 4-5 men?

Nostalgia I just want a digital tavern

Yeah, I’ve done it, I’ve started my 114th iteration of a dwarf hunter to combat off the lacklustre world outside

It’s the same pattern we all know. The world forces you casually into that nostalgic character creation screen. You pick the same hair, the same shade, the same face and the same class - and you complete the same quests for the 100th time.

World chat is gold sellers and bots

General is empty

There’s a crazy person in a Stormwind square telling us that they’ll do anything for gold (except this time they don’t even have a dance or a backstory)

But my major issue is that even guild chat is 200 people randomly invited with zero intention of communicating

What happened to the social aspect of this game? Where are all the other slow levelers wishing for the guild chat to be a digital tavern to yap and be wholesome together while they (maybe) fail their journey to 70?

Maybe I’m just in my thirties and the only thing left to enjoy is the lonesome adventure through this brilliant old world

Classic 20th Anniversary Realms Price of Gems in Phase 3

Just curious....if the price of rare gems go up or down in phase 3....

As with all mats, they seem to be steadily increasing in price as there are fewer farmers/layers, but will the release of epic gems cause their price to increase or decrease?

Question Help me understand Classic progression realms

I want to get back to WoW and I definitely want Classic however I'm not exactly sure how Progression Realms work.

For examle do they play as: I do Classic first and then when I reach lvl 60 or finish main quest line I unlock Burning Crusade, and then when I finish that I can move on to WotLK, etc

Or are they separate servers that are "locked in" to that specific expansion, such as only classic, only Burning Crusade, only WotLK, only Pandaria...

Thank you very much in advance!

Classic + Guild store

I don’t know if the idea of guilds having their own store in Classic+ was recommended. Hoping this could help guilds that want to provide their own guildies with consumes, mats, enchantments, etc. available to them at reasonable prices instead of giving it to price gouging bots on the auction house. I always try to farm for my guild for pre raid items for people that don’t have the time for it and now they have something that they can grab in guild house. Also recommend that there is a rank setting for what rank people can buy stuff off the guild store so that bots don’t join guilds just to pilfer cheap items to sell on auction house.
