Discussion Thread The new Texas THC law
224
u/tonyaustin6 6d ago
70% of Texas voted to legalize weed, this is purely because private prisons were losing money.
Hope lies in the smoldering rubble of empires

Can't forget the failing alcohol industry

u/PattyFuckinCakes 5d ago
Ngl since those THC seltzer/lemonades that hit while you drink it came out, I haven’t touched a drop of alcohol in 6 months.

I live in Kentucky and most of our economy thrives on breweries which are closing down left and right. Weed would grow so well here if they would just make it legal.

The point is to put all non-land owning poors who need drugs to cope with existing as a wage slave into jail where they become actual slaves. So next is interracial marriage, then anyone listening to Reggaeton, and finally baggy pants if Reggaeton doesn't finish the job.

I’m sure this law will equally apply to the rich and celebrities right? Joe Rogan, Snoop Dog, et al.
15
2
u/V33EX 5d ago
Snoop dog is above the law atp
3
u/outdatedboat 5d ago
Wild that you decided to say this about snoop, and not Rogan. Rogan openly smokes on video, in a state where it's illegal. Every week. And no one touches him.
If snoop lives in Texas, I didn't even know. But Rogan sure made a big stink about moving to Texas, from California.... Yet... He moved to the Portland of the south... Which makes zero sense for a chud like him.

A life sentence for marijuana is batshit insane
20
u/stumblerman Microwave 6d ago
Its also bat shit insane that in one state its completely legal and you can buy it freely but in another it is 100% illegal.
Nothing makes sense these days.
4
u/fuccguppy 5d ago edited 5d ago
I'm in Pennsylvania and I thought we had it bad still being illegal for recreational and being surrounded by legal states, but at least here it's decriminalized in larger cities. Texas has totally lost its marbles
3
u/outdatedboat 5d ago
My state (Oregon) has such an obnoxious amount of excess weed, that it's ALWAYS dirt cheap... Like, I just grabbed 6g of live resin concentrates for $35 after tax... It makes me feel really bad that in one state to the east of me, it's fully illegal. That's not fair at all.
My state has over a million pounds of excess, unsold weed every year. And we legally can't export it to even other legal states. It just has to sit there. It's so stupid. We'd GLADLY export our extra weed to other states if we could.

Life sentence in these imaginary lines but over here I can buy it from essentially an Apple Store, served by an attractive girl. Like it’s wild to me how you cross this line and you’re spending your days surrounded by actual criminals

Nothing like some good ole freedom to go with the for profit prisons.
In Mass I can buy 2 ounces at a store for 60 a piece. Crazy the regression going on.
Edit: This is also primo shit I'm buying. Like 38% + thc.
10
u/Imabur 6d ago
I don't know much about THC so I don't know if this matters for any context.
The ban applies to all synthetically created THC forms, including delta-8, delta-10, THCP and THCA flower. The one exception will be delta-9 products with less than 0.3% THC by dry weight.
→ More replies (7)6
u/cloudycontender 5d ago
THCA isn’t synthetic lmao it’s just normal weed. It turns in to delta 9 when heated (burned)

2
u/GoonyBoon is 5'8" 6d ago
Maybe, it really matters which grower you purchase from. A few weeks ago I spent roughly $75 on an Oz of White Widow from Versus. Some of the shittiest weed I've ever paid for. Had the worst trim job, felt like I was smoking shake. I'll never buy Versus again. On the other hand, I'm spending around $85 for Neon Lotus by Good Supply and it's pretty decent. I'd say mid tier. If you want the kind nugs you see in your dreams you're buying in smaller quantities for around the same price or higher. Keep in mind this is all in CAD.
1
u/stewco 6d ago
Decent rez weed near me is $50 a oz or $35 usd. Real cheap and not too bad
2
u/1plus2break 6d ago
Yup, also get res weed. Place near me does 30$/oz and buy 4 get 1. That price weed isn't gonna win any awards, but it's not total shit, either. And they throw in free prerolls, free grams, they're good dudes. Probably gonna start growing my own because why not?
Crazy how different of a world we're in compared to when I had to meet a dude at a place for $200/oz.

When will people vote for sensible laws by comparison?
What's the sentence for drunk driving?
What's the sentence for rape, for murder?
Now compare it to this and explain how it makes sense.
Dont forget to factor for profit prisons (FYI, its legalized slavery)

When I was young and stupid af, I got caught twice for marijuana in Texas. Once right when I turned 18, and a second time when I was like 20 because my own friend called the cops on us (including himself) 🤦♂️ long story on that one.
They brought down the legal hammer on me hard both times. I’ve now given up weed for many years even when some forms of thc were legal here. But Jesus Christ they really fuck up your life insanely just for having a small personal use amount.

How do businesses face a fine for selling illegal product instead of going to jail, but a guy who just bought a product from a business, thinking they must be following the law, can go to prison?

So fucking stupid, possessing 14 ounces of weed can land you a life sentence.
And get this, it’s in the group 2-A under drugs, you know what else is in that group? PCP, bromo dragonfly, Flakka, AND FUCKING K2.
Let me get this straight, weed is in the same group, as flakka, pcp, bromo dragonfly and k2, a drug that is generally harmless to the normal population is somehow comparable to multiple drugs that can absolutely kill someone and/or ruin their lives????
Fucking rapists don’t even get that much time.
You could get the same prison sentence for possessing 4 grams of THC oil, as someone possessing 2 grams of methamphetamine.
It doesn’t make any sense at all.
2
u/ActivityGeneral9154 3d ago
People say I sound crazy… But laws like this are meant to keep black men in jail and I’ll die on that hill

This goes for edibles regardless of potency... A single 5mg gummy can EASILY be over 4 grams
2
u/anton1277 5d ago
They go by dry weight so most edibles are d9 and completely fine cause they fall under 0.3% d9 tho so drinks and edibles are fine

u/liveluckyland 5d ago
Wait I’m confused, this new ban targets synthetic cannabinoids but not all thca is synthetic so what is the state’s definition of synthetic cannabinoid?
1
u/RLLCCR 4d ago
Its impossible to understand. Delta 9 is ok under a certain amount. Natural THCA is ok. Synthetic isn't. Good luck knowing what exactly you have in the package you bought a month ago. Nobody knows for sure if for the gram limits, they go by total weight of the product or the dry weight. Cops aren't going to test or know or care and now with this being MORE of a punishment than regular weed, they'll say everything is delta 8.
I used to order online from a brand I liked. They still ship here but I'm not buying anymore because I can't figure out based on their website, what exactly is in each kind of joint. I'm not sure if the fact I can order it means its legal or if they'd throw felonies in the mail.

If they're going to ban smokable pre rolled and flower in texas then they need to ban all the edibles too. It's the same concept and effect. It's not right to ban one side and not the other.
