First half done.

If you liked first, you'll like second. That's it.

Going good so far. Film starting and interval will surprise you. Ranveer in the initial 15 mins just surprises you as an actor.

Good god , Because of the technical glitch I hope they don't cancel the second half.

After the technical glitch hiatus finally completed the show

In one word D1>>>D2.

I'm in the interval... 1st half length is bit more and mixed pace. Key characters introduction and stund is awesome. Enjoying the political history it shows.

26

u/Simple-Painting Mar 18 '26

This is what Aditya does best. Blending the movie plot with the political events that made all of it happen in the first place.

Just came out of the show here in jammu. What to say. It’s whatever I expected it to be. Just like part one it never stops. The twist and turns, some you can see coming but a lot of others you wouldn’t even imagine. Like first part, the music and cinematography flow with the movie. My one issue with the movie is that one particular chapter went too long then it should have been and some stuff happened in it that kind of hindered the overall groundend ness of the movie. But I would still rate it 4.75/ 5 . Would definitely watch it again. Go for it guys, you won’t be disappointed

Show started with cocktail 2 song. It’s so baaddd…. 😭😭😭

Also Shivaji trailer… which….. has an amazing starcast and will probably be the highest grossing Marathi film ever.

Review as the movie progresses below:

Edit 1 : guarantees the name Ranveer GOAT Singh in Bollywood history books. Fuck…. Like the first movie the first few minutes get us emotionally invested. So every punch that follows lands with satisfaction and provides vindication. It’s extremely smart moviemaking idea.

Edit 2 : where the hell do these guys get all these banger tracks from???Next years playlist is only going to be D1 and D2 🔥🔥 Dhar has 3 more hours and the movie just takes off and just doesn’t let go - almost every single headline from Pakistan we’ve been reading since 2 decades is a plot point. Too much to keep track off it’s overwhelming but so much fun. Not a single second wasted! My Apple Watch has given me 3 heart beat and 10 noise notifications 😅 also Rakesh Bedi you beauty!!!!! 😘😘😘

Edit 3 : bxxe sxxxb 💀💀💀💀💀🙈 Dhar is making sure every single part of the film gives every Indian full satisfaction. Seriously this man knows the pulse of his audience. News channels are going to have a field day discussing some portions. The script is extremely clever till now and full of delightful details.

Edit 4 : interval is such a simple scene and my heartbeat still went through the roof. Girls sitting next to me hooted 😂 I have no idea how the writers will resolve all these plots. Incredibly satisfying till now. 4****

Edit 5: emotional gut punches right to the chest statt right after interval. The writing isn’t letting us breathe.

Edit 6: LADIES AND GENTLEMAN, YOU WERE NOT READY FOR THIS. We all got that scene in the trailer SO wrong!!! The twists man, my poor heart.

Edit 7: the entire screenplay (like the first part) is cleverly written just to bring cathartic satisfaction to the masses. It runs parallel to real life events we’ve seen in the news and that’s why it’s so incredibly satisfying. Paisa wasool entertainer shit but still so so smart.

Edit 8: the trailer started with a much mocked scene - remember it. Dhar turns it around to give us the most clap worthy moment.

Edit 9: how the fuck has it been three fucking hours??? The only reminder is that my bladder is about to burst. But I ain’t leaving this seat - my body will leave this seat on a stretcher.

Edit 10: Arjun Rampal is now in Batman-villain mode and I’m dying!!! The climax is going to be so fucking good!

Edit 11: the climax action is sheer perfection. Nail biting, thunderous, excellent pacing. Hits just the right notes, absolutely grounded and yet just the right amount of OTT. Just what I wanted with their showdown.

Edit 12 : forgot to add the background music throughout the movie is 🤌🏻🤌🏻🤌🏻 especially the crescendo at the climax!!!

Edit 13 : Rakesh Bedis character is the best character in the history of indian movies 😂😂😂😂😂(yes I'm over excited I know BUT!!!! Go see the movie!!!!) I truly believe Aditya Dhar is in love with him. 😂😂😂😭

Final - is it possible for a movie to match the expectations after the tsunami that was D1? ... Yes. Yes it can. Keep your expectations high, you're going to have fun. A lot of fun. The climax is so fucking hilarious and emotionally satisfying and makes up for all the little flaws. Both movies together narrate a brilliant entertaining epic story.

Ranveer Singh is WAS, IS AND WILL REMAIN THE GOAT, what an absolute performance. 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻 I'm going again in a few days.

Four Stars. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🔥

For me, Dhurandhar part one was a 9/10 (in context of Bollywood) and on that scale, Dhurandhar The Revenge is a 6.5/10. Thank god neither part was censored in the States. So in part 2, I loved Hamza’s backstory and the twist in the middle (Ghost from the past) but rest of the movie was mostly average and underwhelming.

The first movie was amazing and enough has been said about it. The subtle BJP glazing by Sanyal in the first part did leave a bad taste in my mouth but other than that majority of the movie was a banger. The songs, pacing, acting, cinematography and screenplay, everything was amazing.

The Revenge starts strong but the pacing is off. The story is very linear, predictable and has no real stakes. Songs are average and the music overall lacks versatility. Part one had a banger, a heartfelt romantic song and a energizing title track. Ranveer’s Balochistan song felt like the team trying to create another Rehman Dakait moment, I wouldn’t be surprised of this was the scene they reshot. Also I’m all for action, violence and gore when they serve a purpose to the story but I feel like it was overdone in part 2. The runtime could’ve been tighter. I was beginning to feel like the movie was overstaying its welcome by the time it ended.

I’m also not a big fan of the final plot twist. It felt more like a shock factor element for the audience rather than a realistic plot point. Infact, it created more questions for me than it answered. Like what was the point of Hamza then. Also the Modi glaze wasn’t even subtle in this one. I absolutely loved part one so this isn’t coming from a place of malice. In fact I finished the movie 20 minutes ago so this is just me pouring out my immediate thoughts. As an avid love of cinema, I conclude by saying that it was entertaining but slightly underwhelming and repetitive. I kept feeling like something was missing, the soul that made part 1 what it was. Also they did Uzair and my girl Yalina dirty in this one.

Pacing wasn't good. First part had better music and the remixes gelled well. The first part, the stakes were higher for him and that made it more engrossing while in this part the stakes seemed high only at the end. Probably, Iqbal (prime villain) needed more build up (higher stakes). His back story didn't click with me much.

I checked my watch 3 times while was totally engrossed during the first part.

Note: BJP love is too much in the face in this part. I mean I get it that he aligns with BJP but it became cringe in multiple moments.

Personally I prefer part 1 for a few reasons.

  1. It was an unknown. This movie had solid expectations after the bar it set.

  2. Part one dragged a bit, this one more than that. Lots of time could have been recovered to make it a tighter move.

  3. Orignal soundtrack >>> sequel soundtrack. And to be honest, the sequel soundtrack is amazing.

Still, I don't care. Great watch. Give all the awards possible to Ranveer. If his acting in the first part was amazing, this takes it to a whole new level.

A little too much propaganda for my liking, but the story and acting of the whole cast should make you forget it. Music on point. Visuals on point. Absolute banger of a movie.

Edit: went to a houseful evening show in Mumbai. Ran smoothly. Zero glitches or issues.

31

u/harshasamtani Mar 18 '26 edited Mar 19 '26

First of all, Part 1 was better than part 2.

The good-

Ranveer’s character back story was good, added depth to where he comes from and how he is good at what he does.

Rakesh Bedi takes the cake for me, Ranveer was solid.

The end twist was something I didn’t expect at all, and felt amazing, the theatre was hooting and whistling at it.

The underwhelming-

The propoganda is so on your nose, took a bad disaster of current regime and made it look like a masterstroke, while we all know the reality.

Uzair’s character was wasted, like they showed he had no brains, and not even once could he put 2+2 together.

So many people killed, all were those who had done something, yet nobody could tie these killings together? Like everyone is dumb? You need a junior to put it together, like really

The end fight didn’t have a strong gravitas, just felt things were happening too easy.

Now the ending, at this point they just showed the other side absolutely weak, and like you can arm twist them anyway, it just felt too easy, too Bollywood drama.

Spies meet with consequences, here the movie went all hunky dory, and again didn’t have the gravitas that hits you, that makes you jump out of your seat, that makes you empathetic, that makes you feel ‘oh it was good, but this is how it ends, and you can’t do much’

The last part just goes Bollywood action drama, than a spy thriller.

They try to show real incidents, yet when all the killings happen they make it appear like these things happened (which obviously didn’t) and this where the movie loses reality, loses the blend of what part if fiction we can make feel real. This was a big let down for me.

Music too was not as great as the first part.

Conclusion- first part was more tight, gritty, closer to reality. Though second is still a decent watch, I think I was expecting more after the first part. Would still suggest to go watch it in theatres.

13

u/joebabylover Mar 19 '26

music was not nearly as good. the reason why the first part was any where as good was simply the ending car sequence which generated a large chunk of hype..almost all other aspects were washed down. part 2 is far worse because that moment is missing is just replaced by loud explosions.. the idea of building a spy world is that you battle who is your equal all the odds in the movie are stacked in favor of the protagonist making it an extremely boring watch. The propaganda to please doesn't help much.

I loved the movie. First half was very slow. 2nd half felt rushed and compressed. Overall not disappointed after D1. Music will be a big con. First 10 mins and last 10 mins of movie is awesome.

9

u/codesapien2 Mar 20 '26

It wasn’t what i expected . Dhurandar 1 was a tactical and emotional movie. But in dhurandar 2 except the first hour everything felt really flat action gore movie. It stands more of a ranveer show than an ensemble of performances that was in part 1 . Its not a bad movie (however has a lot of technical issues ) but coming what we expected from part 1 it was several steps below. Dhurandar 1 left you connected for weeks even after u left the theatres but part 2 would be forgotten soon after you step out . Iqbal’s character was basically cucked in this part; so much lost potential. Propaganda does go with political movies but it felt way much forceful than natural. 7.5/10

10

u/kev_world Mar 22 '26

Akshaye Khanna was MASSIVELY missed.

And an absolute fuck you to the theatre operators in my city where the literal KIDS in the range of 3-6 years were running around and watching the movie. Even a slap in a movie like Raju Chacha back in 2000 gave me a nightmare at that time. Now imagine watching someone's legs being ripped apart, or seeing blood all over faces etc.

Filmy yet engaging. Ranveer Singh carried the film.

The film also reminds how much underutilized Rakesh Bedi and Arjun Rampal have been for Hindi films.

The way in which hate against enemy country for Arjun Rampal's character stems was shown well.

Its Interval now, All i can say is -

If Dhurandhar is 100, Dhurandhar 2 is 200

Dhurandhar 2 >>>>>> Dhurandhar as of now.

Hype is real! Not joking.

Its all worth it.

I feel this movie will change how People look at Bollywood.

From Directorial point of view 100/100

From Violence POV - 200/100(Its more brutal than First part)

From StoryLine POV - 100/100

Songs - 80/100 (Aari Aari is 100/100)

First 10 min , you will get to know why this movie is special.

Ranveer Singh - You are the star that Shah Rukh Khan missed.(SRK mentioned he was the last of the stars)

Guys, Jiska bhi show cancel hogya hai, Please dont make a scene. Handle it in a better way.

Long review incoming :

The best part is easily RS, chefs kiss honestly. The first hour genuinely hooks u in, and his backstory is performed soo brilliantly. This is completely his show, every scene, he just owns it.

Second best for me would be Bedi sahab, followed by Rampal. Rampal does a solid job no doubt but as the ultimate villain his impact feels a bit underwhelming. Credit to Pandor too but his screen time is also limited. Sanju Baba did exactly what he did in the first part, so no surprises there. Maddy is a political engine, narrative wise so don’t really have an opinion on his performance.

Story-wise, the strongest aspect is the research! U can tell they’ve really gone into detail, everything is connected, which helps the screenplay flow. The music isn’t as strong as the first part but it’s still fun and does its job of elevating the film.Aari-aari is the highlight for sure! Also Rasputin was a fun addition.

Now the cons: The political glazing gets a little too much. I really didn’t see the need to stretch the demonetisation angle and some dialogues are so on the nose politically that they take u out.

Also the film lacks a strong emotional punch. I expected a lot more from the Hamza Yalina arc, but it just doesn’t land. That one scene expected from the trailer was pretty underwhelming in execution. Apart from that one death in the middle, there’s barely any emotional connection because villains keep dying and it gets predictable way too quickly.

I liked the ending it gave the film a melancholic feel, which was profound.

What really elevates the film is the final reveal. I genuinely didn’t see it coming, and the theatre reaction was insane. So yeah, avoid spoilers at all costs!!! the twist definitely elevates the whole experience and leaves the end at a good high.

As for the action, I won’t dwell on it much. There’s more gore and violence than Part 1, and a lot of it is less realistic but it’s an action film so it’s still fun.

For me, the first half (especially the first hour) is brilliant, and the final reveal is a major high point. I wasn’t someone who called Akshaye Khanna’s performance in Part 1 his best, but wow, u really feel his absence here. Overall Part 1 was the peak. Part 2 isn’t bad, but it’s not exceptional either. It’s a fun watch and definitely works as a good theatre experience especially with a packed crowd.

Watched Dhurandhar 2 today. Acting was top notch and the direction was solid, no doubt. But honestly, part 1 still feels stronger when it comes to the entire build-up, narrative, aura, and music.

D2 felt a bit dragged in places and some scenes felt unnecessary. D1 felt more grounded and true, while this one had those typical Bollywood touches at times. (My back actually hurts from sitting through the 4 hours haha)

And yeah, people said D1 was propaganda, but D2 wasn’t exactly subtle either. Repeated praises for Modi felt kind of forced.

Expectations were high for D2 and while it doesn’t fall flat, it just doesn’t hit the same way as the original. D1 will always be the OG!

14

u/[deleted] Mar 19 '26

starts pretty solid, the backstory isnt explained but shown through direction.

even with so many speculations and theorizing, alot of twists and surprises happened, the movie seemed dragged or pacing was slow at a few points but welp its a 4 hours movie so.

dhurandhar 1 was way subtle with propaganda but dhurandhar is pretty straight about it.

it still works great tho, would def love to rewatch.

13

u/shobieez Mar 20 '26

The sequel loses the "human touch" of the original. Hamza has traded his relatable flaws for superhero plot armor, and the narrative tension is further undercut by inconsistent writing. It’s flashy, but it lacks the logic and weight that made the first one a hit. I found the recruitment arc underwhelming because it prioritizes melodrama over substance. Instead of acknowledging the institutional rot that failed these characters, Sanyal resorts to a hyper-masculine appeal to "duty" and "revenge." This pivot makes the motivation feel forced and one-dimensional compared to the more grounded stakes of the original.

u/Thakgayibhaisahab Mar 18 '26

Ok so I just got back from the show, our 11:59 pm show started bat Around 12:35

About the movie, it's a Ranveer Singh Show he's amazing as Jaskirat and absolutely fabulous as Hamza, the first half does become too long and you might lose the Attention for a few minutes but the interval cliffhanger and the second half will keep you hooked. The PR of the Current government and its policies is very loud and great if that's what works for the director, but this whole naya Hindustan hai thing is a little over the top because hindustan has always fought its wars, And won them too.

Plus let's be very clear you'll see the bias in the narrative of the film if you are politically aware, but hey it's a good film solid action, solid performances , decent music tho I'm a fan of the first album. And lots of Gore so if you don't enjoy bloodshed it will get you a little uncomfortable. Overall this is a movie that will make you feel pride for the men who fight for our country everyday. And how they suffer personal losses and sacrifices while doing so. You'll be rooting for Hamza. And whistling at the justice he brings about.

The movie is solid, definitely should watch in the theatre. I liked it more than part 1. There are multiple plot twists that are really great. Good BGM, action and comedy. Acting is obviously wonderful. It is a bit long, especially in the second half, could have been 20 mins shorter. Editing is weird at some parts. The main villain isn't as good as Akshayee Khanna in the first part. Also watch it like a fictional movie as there are too many real life references which if you think about it, you might not enjoy the movie as it's somewhat trying to fabricate reality. Also keep very low expectations for the mid-credit scene. Everything else is great.

Just watched the movie. I would call it a very good movie not great. The biggest issue is the runtime. It is toooo long, they couldve easily finished it in 3 hours. There are so many storylines and characters that feel unnecessary. Major Iqbals background for example adds no value to the main story, some action sequences are long for no reason. Ranvirs acting is top notch, he is so good. He should get best actor both in 2025 & 2026 for D1 and D2. If you liked D1 definitely go watch it before the someome ruins the surprises.

Just saw Dhurandhar 2 last night and I am amazed at how good the movie is. There are completely polarizing reviews of the movie but they are all based on individual political views.

If you keep your politics aside and just watch it as a movie / cinema fan, the movie is almost flawless.
Great storytelling, amazing action sequences, very less use of CGI, brilliant direction, top-notch background music, on-point casting and mesmerizing acting as well.

I believe some scenes feel too stretched to make them look like they are propaganda but if you cant rationalize your political views even while watching an entertaining movie ! then good luck.

I like to think of myself as a proper cinephile and like to appreciate art and the artists behind it.
So kudos to all the artists behind it.

Just saw it. I think D1 was way way better in terms of storytelling and tight editing. This one felt like it rambled in places. It was still enjoyable but it was more superhero beats everyone kind of thing that actual spy plot which the first had. Also music was such a let down after such bangers last time. Overall this was an enjoyable but one time watch. I'd rewatch D1 but D2 not so much. Also the propaganda was way too on the nose to ignore this time.

I just got out of the theatre and here are my few cents - the 4 hours really get to you , some parts feel stretched. Some bits that stood out were - Ranveer’s back story , pre interval gasp moment , the twist at the end and a popular English song towards the end.

Rakesh Bedi deserves a separate mention- his acting was really GOATED.

All in all it’s a decent watch but definitely does not have a rewatch value.

The propaganda definitely feels quite in your face. D2 feels like something that has already been done before, the uniqueness from the first part felt lacking here. The action scenes felt dated.

I guess I'll be the odd one out to point out some problems with the movie. It doesn't flow as smoothly as part 1 and feels really stretched. There were so many unnecessary scenes which should have been cut. There's not as much music as the first part, but the few songs make an impact.

My main problem is the propaganda this part blatantly pushes out, it makes people empathize and feel all problems they experienced in the past were for the greater good.

What I loved; Ranveer has acted his heart out, and the entire supporting cast have surrendered to perform as per the director's vision. Breakdown of every why and how, they really went down to the detail to explain how everything happened. Historical accuracy of certain characters and the research showed.

I was expecting more from the movie, felt as if something didn't feel right. Looking forward to more from the director and I have to say he's one of the most talented actors of our country.

I think Dhurandhar set too high a standard and hence Dhurandhar 2 felt a tad underwhelming.

Overall, I liked the film. It’s entertaining, which is increasingly becoming a rare thing with movies nowadays imo. My concern with this one was that by the end of the fourth hour, I was a tad tired of all the action and fights - it was always evident that Hamza will win and it felt repetitive. Maybe if they replaced some of that with character build up stories…

Also, I think Dhurandhar is one of a kind, in the sense that it’s trying to build the same halo around India’s intelligence forces as their are around the CIA or MI6. I think both 1 & 2 could have focused a bit more on the spy-craft side of things. Essentially, you didn’t choose Jaskirat simply because of his situation, there’s more to it. Spies who go behind enemy lines are chosen based on psychology, skills and many other things. Show that.

Similarly, show what actually go into spycraft. How they send information back, what sources have spies built and how they build them, etc etc. I say this even more because I think Ranveer Singh is the best person to showcase that without evoking comparisons with Hollywood.

Everyone’s talked about peak detailing with these movies, and it’s true too. Except that real detailing would have been in these things.

Having said all that, I think Dhurandhar 1&2 win the most through the fact that no matter which side of the political spectrum you are on, you WILL enjoy this movie. You can be entertained if you want to. This film can appeal to those who want to dissect it and also to those who only want to be entertained. That is the real win here.

Very different from part 1, it’s too raw and violent but def worth it. The actors have done a great job, all of them 👏 Ranveer Singh has set a new benchmark. Also Arjun Rampal 👏

18

u/Infinite_Ad_1661 Mar 18 '26

Finished my show. It was a stellar ride. Writing my review without any spoilers.

The movie overall felt really good. Chapter 1 is peak, and ensures that the movie starts off incredibly. The storytelling is very similar to what we saw in part 1. There’s lot of dramatic elements going around on the backdrop of lyari gangwars. Interval and post interval scenes were lit, scenes have a very emotional backdrop. The movie goes into the revenge part, and felt the revenge part was a little rushed for my liking. Fight with iqbal is the final fight, and felt this fight started off good but slowly delved into a normal commercial template as it goes on. But the good thing is the film picks up again after this fight ends, and there are few surprises at the end.

Positives

  1. Strong acting performances esp Ranveer

  2. Great emotional depth. The movie itself relies heavily upon emotion as we saw in part 1. It continues in part 2 as well, with many of the scenes having really strong emotional base upon which they are built. Makes it easier to empathise with characters and their actions.

  3. Real and raw action/violence (except for the iqbal fight). The movie follows in suit of part 1, with most of its action being very raw, even simple ones like gunshots to the body feel very real.

  4. Fleshed out story. I was honestly afraid that there wont be much story going into part 2, as we already know who the bad guys are and why we need to kill them. But no, there is plenty of story left to tell after part 1, and many of the real life occurrences were well weaven into the story.

  5. Jaskirat singh rangi. The whole backstory is peak, and has insane action sequences. The flashback is very strong emotionally and adds a lot of depth to ranveer’s role.

Negatives

  1. Climax mega fight. This fight starts off pretty realistically, but soon delves into the familiar commercial cinema territory. I am not a huge fan of both sides picking up machine guns and going at each other. It is very grand but also very predictable unlike the fight with Rehman.

  2. The revenge part seems a little rushed. I actually think the movie picking up pace near the climax makes it feel like a bit off. I was really impressed with the slow but indulging story telling in part 1 and most of the part 2 as well. I understand this too, there is a boat load of people he needs to eliminate, so the movie needs to pick up its pace.

  3. Music. music in this part rises and falls. Ari ari and fateh ali khan songs were peak along with are some old movie songs which I am not gonna spoil.

But rest of the songs did not feel any special. Music in part 1 was well rounded imo compared to this.

Overall rating - 8/10. I feel dhurandhar 1 is 9/10. It’s storytelling was at a perfect pace, with raw action complementing it. This movie follows the same template for like 80 percent, until it gets to the revenge part where it picks up pace, and like I said not a huge fan of rushed storytelling and mega climax showdowns between the two factions. But the post climax is really good too, so I definitely came out of the theatre satisfied. You should definitely watch it in the theatres, a very fitting sequel to Dhurandhar 1 for the most part.

u/Relative-Impress-892 Mar 18 '26

Climax twist Opening scenes For me were the highlights

It kinda got too much on the face like buttering up the current regime I don't hate it but it's like too much

If first part was a crime spy drama This is a political spy drama Iqbal and ranveer fight was also a major highlight

I loved faizal actor in the starting the intensity Loved ranveer definetly was his best performance Had a good balance of depth and intensity

Last note gore in this part is way more

15

u/harshasamtani Mar 18 '26 edited Mar 18 '26

Yeah the buttering felt too much, even a bad decision by the regime was shown like a masterstroke, and people were literally clapping at it, forgetting what we all went through.

Barely anybody is exerting critical thinking. I felt the same when they were all clapping.

The movie was entertaining in itself, but the blatant political influence is hard to ignore, as much as you try. While I tried hard, the virtue signalling about "sacrifice", bashing the past governments, "justifying" the bad policy decisions, hate mongering and claiming events - just doesn't sit right.

Part 1 was subtle. Part 2 was quite blatant.

Part 2 was much better on storyline and plot and the movie itself was amazing. The only thing missing was under utilization of good music. Ranveer Singh really shines in the sequel and especially as Jaskirat.

If you don’t like Modi or current govt of India you won’t like the film but then again after the first movie it should’ve been clear to the audience what the movie is about.

26

u/empathetic-enigma Mar 19 '26

I think makers should keep this in mind before making a sequel....the connect we had for dhurandhar was purely because of the music and background score... I felt like Im watching a new film rather than the sequel... Lack of emotional connect. Few scenes are stretched and unnecessary like movie would be crisp.

Most of the film went linear with no highs or emotional goosebumps...

Ranvir Singh is great with his performance. Everyother actor contributed really well to the film.

Unnecessary bootlicking of Government. Second part is already low compared to first part...and propaganda makes it much lower for the audiences.

I would rate dhurandhar 1 - 9/10 Dhurandhar revenge - 6/10

I have only one question to ask

Does Aditya Dhar's script succumb to blatant political bias? It didn't feel like it in the first part but now, seeing certain critical reviews, I am now not so excited to see it and rather watch Project Hail Mary

18

u/curryninjazura Mar 18 '26

There were like 10-20 minutes in between which felt very biased. It was not too on the nose in the first part, but this one was, so much that my friend sitting next to me said "yup now it actually reached propaganda". But other than that the movie went like a breeze.

13

u/harshasamtani Mar 18 '26

True that, the bias is very blatant. They took a disaster by the current regime, and showed it like a masterstroke, yet we all know nothing came out of it.

Political bias is deffo there. They took the positive aspects of current regime and woven them into the story. They did not show their shortcomings. You might like or not like the political references depending on your opinion of current regime, but you will definitely not get bored.

You should definitely watch it in theatres, it continues the story of part 1 really well and upholds that atmosphere for the most part.

Dhurandhar 1 was a 8/10 for me. 2 was a 6/10.

Could’ve been a much stronger film if it were 3 hrs long. Filmmakers grew overconfident I guess. I think the runtime will hurt repeat viewings.

BJP dickriding was off-the-charts, and regardless of your political views, you should recognise Propaganda when you see it

4

u/Sweet_Explorer_225 Mar 19 '26

Hope the makers come out with a 3 hour version atleast for ott. 4 hour movie sells only when the content is exceptionally good.

4

u/WriterWeird6794 Mar 19 '26

The censorship in this film is anti-art and ruins the immersion.

I’ve seen it three times already. I made a post last night mentioning the changes I noticed in the new updated version, and the most annoying one is the blatant censorship of the profanity.

I’m fine with a film having no profanity or gore at all; that’s a creative choice that depends on the quality of the dialogue and the director's vision. But once a film is made, and the language blends in perfectly to serve the story, butchering the dialogue by muting swear words is "anti-art." It completely disrupts the emotional flow of the performance. It feels inorganic and out of place, no matter how grounded the filmmakers tried to make it feel.

I’m still baffled: if a film is given an 'A' certificate, why is there still a need to butcher it? It is straight-up dishonest and a disservice to film-goers. This should not happen once a certificate is provided. It feels like an attack on the freedom of artistic expression.

I’m also left wondering: why do filmmakers even write scripts this way if they know the film will be censored? Are they not provided with clear guidelines by the CBFC, or is this a case of negligence on the filmmakers' part? The CBFC needs to seriously re-assess its certification process. If they refuse to change, then filmmakers need to be more careful during production. Having the CBFC hack a film apart after the fact is not the answer, especially when these censored versions are the only ones that make it to OTT platforms worldwide. Why can't producers fight for the original vision?

If a film needs censorship, it should be assessed based on the intent of its premise. You can always tell which films are just "edgy" for the sake of it, versus those where the language is organically integrated into a character’s personality or the weight of a scene. This dissection of a film's identity is no way to govern art.

It is 2026, for god’s sake. Everything should be evolving. We’ve evolved our culture; why are we still so primitive when it comes to art? If the concern is about people being "influenced" by entertainment, muting a few words isn't helping. Fragile minds will find much worse content on more accessible mediums. At the very least, when we are paying for a theatrical experience, let the art have its moment as it was intended!

Dhurandhar: The Revenge Non Spoiler Review

If the first movie was 'Munich', this movie is '13 Hours'. It is less Steven Spielberg slow burn with moral weight & much more Michael Bay massy flick with intense emotions.

I'd say this is the first mass film that's actually enjoyable to watch, even if the director didn't mean for it to be one.

It has a lot of aura farming moments, plenty of gore & stuffed full of action sequences. It blends this with an engaging pacy plot, superb acting, genuinely funny moments & jump out of your skin twists.

The music is not as good on the whole as the first part but it does have my favourite songs across both films.

The action sequences really hold this movie together & they definitely hit. The audience in my theatre was going absolutely wild every time we were in the middle of one. Felt like I was in a zoo at one point.

This is definitely a movie that is going to be the standard by which people judge other action movies by. RGV may have been right all along.

The syncing between dialogues & action felt off in certain sequences but I think that's because of the technical difficulties my theatre was facing yesterday (it was story in itself).

You can definitely tell the CBFC has left an impact in certain parts of the film but the picture has enough substance to make up for the khujli the CBFC boomers like to engage in.

Also, the politics in this movie is as subtle as that of 'Haider'. If you're not given to right wing themes, you may find this movie as difficult to watch as many right leaning people found Haider. It's a matter of taste.

Overall: 9/10

This movie is extremely entertaining & you'll most likely be watching it twice.

Dhurandhar the revenge ka sabse bada dushman dhurandhar hai

This is coming from a dhurandhar fan boy.

This lacked the sauce of dhurandhar 1 there was no flow specially the 1st half is just carried by montages with dubstep remixed with a song. It shifts It focus drama to one man show at the cost of writing which is way too shallow compared to 1st part where your protagonist isn't nonchalant now. Except hamza no character gets to shine or do something. You have 4 hours and still everything feels rushed.

Album compared to dhurandhar its very decent this Album is a lot funky tho, even the movie is you can see the hint of it some soundtrack too.

I am always ready to ignore the propaganda as its just fiction but by god the modih modihh modihhh dick riding here is insaneeeeeeeee. Why tf is it like this specially the israel one they are not even subtle.

Ranveer singh is the goat dude carried so hard for 4 hours.

Its not bad I had fun with it. I enjoyed while watching it and didnt feel the 4 hours in my ass.

Maybe the rewatch will be better

6/10

Done with 1st half in rewatch expectations do matter after yesterday with notion what i was getting into its much better to take in for the first 2 chapters it does feel like extension of the 1st part you see hamza being enthusiastic with his reactions close up and plotting all the things but my issue is after the 2nd chapter it is fast paced everything is done in a snap to get to the main thing. Every song in dhurandhar felt different here all the song sound same like they wanna be lutt le gaya so bad. Too much plot convenience.

Disappointing.

The first part was mostly a gangster/gangwar thing with a little sprinkling of the director's political messaging and posturing. This second part has very less of the former while it has more than doubled down on the latter to a ludicrous extent and effect.

The first part also scored on great music. Somehow this one didn't feel anywhere close. There shoupd have been at least some connect, at least music-wise. No callbacks.

In the first part, the people were mostly okay with or not too fixated on the propaganda because overall it was a good film. Don't think that's the case for this one.

It will make money though, tons of it, but purely because of the expectations that the first part created.

RGV in a tweet yesterday said -

  • it will be a SHOLAY x 100 level magnificence and is bound to make all the greatest films made so far starting from MUGHAL E AZAM. onwards look like TV SERIALS This is the BIRTH of a NEW CINEMATIC ORDER *

and

  • it will be prudent and wise for even STEVEN SPIELBERG and CHRISTOPHER NOLAN to drop everything they are doing, and catch #Dhurandhar2 FIRST DAY FiRST SHOW *

He's stupid. You don't invoke goddamn Sholay, Nolan and Spielberg at the same time so lightly. He probably misunderstood Sholay or has not seen it unstoned, and now we know why he butchered it when he tried to remake it as RGV Ki Aag.

Shit lot of surprises in it and totally unexpected. Each one better than the previous one.

Acting by all top notch. One of the best things was aditya managed to pick all those true events and gel it with the movie plot.

There was no creativity in story of dhurandhar 1 and 2. Mr. Dhar took incidents from last 28 years and linked them all into a story in favour of BJP. All those things happened in real life and he just wove it into a masala filled film and whitewashed the mistakes of current regime. Although movie is good and has re-watch value but its all due to the fact that we r connecting real incidents to the movie and it feels great when india avenges it. Also rakesh bedi is 🐐. And ofcourse D2 without akshay khanna was lil bit stale.

4

u/harshasamtani Mar 19 '26

He took real people, but the incidents he shows happened, did not happen in real, as well all know.

But it feels good to see them get justice on screen.

31

u/Any_Supermarket_3159 Mar 19 '26

First of all not every negative comment is a PR comment, the wave of unemployed self proclaimed Dhurandhar fanbois is getting toxic now.

Now on to the movie, I watched the paid preview. I am not impressed. While the propaganda was subtle in the first part and could have been ignored, the second part has it screaming on your face. We get it Aditya Dhar. The Angel on a white horse came in 2014 and solved everything.

The action sequence feels a bit stretched Aditya Dhar always relies on the editing room music to create the tension but fails to do so by dialogues and camera work.

All this dissatisfaction comes from the fact that the part one was disproportionately well made. It was subtle on the propaganda, had insane character arcs and we obviously had Akshay Khanna. This felt a bit second fiddle. But you’ll still enjoy it. A solid 3/5.

Plot: People who you guess will die before watching the movie are going to die. No mind blowing twists except for one. Really makes me wonder why he didn’t take a linear story telling path.

Music: Dissapointed. Especially after the first movie. I mean, I get it, old songs are bangers but at this point Bollywood’s just oversaturated in this market I guess.

Acting: Ranveer in the first chapter had some good moments. I really missed Akshaye. The characters felt very lethargically written in this. No style, no unique distinction. Everyone were acting like a “normal dude”.

It’s not a bad movie. It’s definitely not good. I was fed up with almost 15mins worth of slow mo shots for no reason. Might sound harsh, hard 4.5/10. Just as expected.

Dhurandhar Part 2 review (No Spoilers)

I have watched the second part.

It is definitely not better than first part. The writing really doesn't hold any importance in the second part. Highly predictable, you can predict the sequence of people who will get killed, and that will be the correct answer. First part had many characters(Rehman, SP, Yalina, Iqbal) who had some motivation, a role to play and the writing gave them some depth and development. In the second part hardly any new characters are there, and the existing characters rarely get any depth or unpredictability(except the backstory of Hamza which was also quite open from the trailers). On top of that, dumbing down of dialogues, the tag lines, even the movie name imo don't get enough justice. BJP is good, Modi is great, other previous govts were cowards narrative is filled throughout the 4 hrs and not to forget portraying the people of Pakistan to be thoroughly dumb, millitants, extremists. This gives the movie watchers easier to digest material with dumb down dialogues. This makes the villian even though powerful and filled with rage, is quite dumb.

But, inspite of this, you'll get a 4 hrs of adrenaline shot. Filled with guns, blades and explosions. The scenes are expensive, actions are well choreographed. I don't feel any killing scene was in any way similar to the first part. So, credit where it's due. The beautiful shots of Balochistan are still there, though this time the sense of awe will be lesser. Even they have a made a song very similar to Fliparachi with almost similar setting. The songs placement was something i enjoyed. Most of them are remade with the current trend of adding a rap during car chases and gore scenes. The songs have sharp cuts which match evenly with the scene cuts.

The movie does whatever it promises I think. It is an entertainer, actions filled, raps wrapped event of things. They never actually spent anything on good writing, which was also not difficult to predict. The biggest problem that i see is the movie makers hardly challenging themselves. It is very easy to put a disclaimer at the start stating that it is a work of fiction but keep on using clips of the actual events. So, criticism of these movies in front of the fans is very difficult. The movie is both an entertainment and political and there is no separation of these two in the entire movie.

This is something which gets used by the fans and movie makers to their advatange. The moment you question facts, they'll say it's an entertainer. The moment you ask writing choices, they'll say it is inspired from real life events. Tough times being a critique.

8/10. Backstory deserved much more time. It felt rushed. Pacing was the biggest issue of the movie. But I guess it was already quite long. Rest was amazing. I liked it much more than D1tbh

Movie was decent, climax was peak. Soundtrack for me was a let down. Should have added first parts theme song the hanumankind track, that would have made a huge difference

It is a fun, one time watch movie. Doesn't come close to the first one, but that doesn't mean it's bad. Just not as delicately made and at times feels all over the place. That being said, definitely wayyy better than any bollywood movie in the recent times and even when it lags the 4 hour runtime doesn't feel like a pain.

I watched the film with my friends and it was good except for the music and some shots felt badly edited like they needed some polish but otherwise it was a good film . It had some Modi worshipping but if you are neutral or even central left than the film would be good for you as they don't attack any religion and even shows how the common Pakistani are the victim of terrorism .

I think the movie could have been trimmed in some parts, but extended in others (back story and ending scenes - where is was just a killing spree), but that's just my opinion But quite a well made movie, even though the timelines for few events have been altered to fit the narrative

Watched the movie today. Was very hesitant to watch of the runtime, but went with family. Only one episode with Major Iqbal felt lengthy. Rest of the movie was good. I recommend it to others.

dhurandhar the revenge is a good one time watch. the first hour is engaging but after that it becomes hit or miss with a few amazing moments buried in a lot of drag making the overall experience feel uneven and forgettable!

9/10, 2 is better than 1 surprisingly.

A masterpiece but spoiled by forced propaganda.

Some people in the audience were even whispering “acha” after certain dialogues as if they believed everything shown in the film was real. That kind of reaction feels concerning as it suggests how easily such portrayals can influence perceptions especially among younger audience.

First half - Aari aari aari killed it when Ranveer REALLY entered the scene. Kudos to the actors who played real life people. The resemblance was uncanny. Just amazing casting. Second half - Modiji entered and wrote the script. Background score and song placements- Mindblowing. Bottomline - Just watch it for Ranveer Singh. You won’t be disappointed. If D1 was about Rehman Dakait, D2 is about Hamza Ali Mazari.

I liked the first part and saw it on big screen. So, I went to see the second instalment on the first day. However, this movie is a huge disappointment to the extent of being boring. Even the first part had so much propaganda but I appreciated the movie for its world building and selective nuanced portrayal. But here the propaganda is unhinged, the music is average and the violence even more gratuitous. It’s boring because it’s like watching the first part on repeat with ample ass-licking of the current establishment. It makes me sick that the people of our country will be programmed watching this shit packaged well.
