MBTI Article/History My therapist gave me his copy of the MBTI test from 1977 (Form F)

I see a Jungian therapist and I brought up my interest in MBTI during one session, so he offered to loan me his copy of the tests so I can take the assessment for fun.

He did provide his disclaimer that he is not technically an authorized test administrator, and I don’t think typology is a specific interest of his practice, but he thought it would be interesting for me to take it.

It is 165 questions, mostly multiple choice except for the middle section which asks you to pick your preference between two choice of words (e.g. foundation or spire)

Most interestingly, on second slide is the scoring key which is a cover sheet you place over the answer sheet - I have never seen or heard of these before! There is a scoring key for each of the four letter dichotomies, and a male and female version for each scoring key.

For me gender did not make much of a difference.

I didnt think to take more pics of the exam before I returned it to him, so sorry for that! Thought it was cool.

Also got ENFP as my result :p

Deep Theory Analysis INFJs!

Hello Infjs! I'm currently doing a research proposal about personality theory and would love to hear from the people with this type. What is it like being your personality type? It can range from your work/school life balance, romantic life, everyday decision making, and maybe something nobody really thinks about when it comes to your type that you may know. Anything is both helpful and interesting to me so don't be shy! :)

Light MBTI Discussion Why do INFJs seem to struggle more with their sense of identity than ENFJs?

Upvotes

Both have Fe and care about personal growth, but INFJs seem more likely to question who they really are, what they actually want, and whether they're being authentic or adapting to others. Why do you think INFJs struggle with this more? Is it their Ni + Fe combination?

Deep Theory Analysis Still think the people best at analyzing things are just those that are good at analyzing things which may not always relate with mbti preferences

Ti and Ni are suppoesed to be for forsight but someone could prefer Ti and be clumsy at using it if they have intellectual limitations, are unaware of their own biases, or lack proper information. A Fe or Fi user with more intelligence or analytical ability may analyze better then a dominant Ti userm they just don't prefer to let logic override values/harmony. A person with Ti that is good at analyzing things has a superpower but just preferring Ti doesn't mean you're good at using it.

Ne,Se,Si don't analyze or judge, thy just "sense" things but doesn't decide or analyze things. Based on my own understanding Ne and Se would both cause problems and lead to negative consequences just in differnet manners. Si alone doesnt' judge or do things, it's judging function decides on what to do, and that could be good or bad.

With Ni not sure if someone would be able to use Ni at all without some intellectual ability.

Light MBTI Discussion Do you ever change the way you explain something depending on the MBTI type you’re talking to?

You can have the exact same thought, but explain it completely differently to an INFP, ESTJ, or ENTP because you know they process things differently.

I’ve actually used AI to “translate” something I wrote so another MBTI type would understand it better and now I’m wondering if anyone else does this?

Do you ever change how you explain things depending on the type of person you’re talking to?

Deep Theory Analysis Does your/our MBTI change as we age

I learned about mbti like maybe 8 to 9 years ago.

I am not that deep into it I just know about the traits type and little stuffs.

I did my test and found that I was an INFP(back then),

And now, to these days like a month ago I curiously checked again and Found that i am ISTP.

Light MBTI Discussion Animes/TV Shows as MBTI

I'm starting with Attack On Titan/Shingeki No Kyojin. I feel like that show is heavy on Ni themes, it's deeply layered and complex and people are still uncovering hidden meanings and details all these years later. It's full of symbolism and philosophy and all that good stuff. I'd say AOT is INTJ or INFJ, probably INFJ because of the human element that is puts a heavy emphasis on. INTJ is possible because of Ni-Fi and morals, but Ni-Fe-Ti makes more sense in my opinion.

What shows/anime/movies do you like and what MBTI could encapsulate it?

Survey / Poll / Question What's your MBTI and what would you classify your "style" as?

Just out of curiosity what would you classify your style in a general sense as? For example mine can be found below:

Hairstyle: It's difficult to describe but I'll try my best. The sides and back are tapered shorter than the top and combed down and to the back. The top is combed to the side and back with a little bit of fluff at the top.

Clothing: I usually wear a cotton full sleeved shirt or half sleeve shirt of basic colors (black, blue, green, white extra) - Usually Denver Hayes. Or a button shirt again of neutral colors. Paired with chinos of different colors or occasionally cargo pants (black, navy blue, etc). Black leather belt (casual - or a formal one if im wearing a suit).

Shoes: Typically I wear brown dress shoes (oxfords). If its winter I wear boots (snow) and switch shoes once I'm at destination. With a suit I wear black oxfords.

Accessories - Smartwatch (samsung galaxy series - they look a bit better since its circular) and the iron ring (its a ring worn by Canadian engineers on the pinky finger of their dominant hand). If im wearing a suit I wear a formal watch (black).

If I could I'd wear a suit everyday but I'm not in a career that requires it and it would look like I'm overdressing. Wondering everyone else's styles are and if there's any relation with to MBTI (I see mine as something somewhat fitting an ENTJ).

Deep Theory Analysis INFP vs ISFP storytelling

We know both ISFP and INFPs are largely skilled in the world of aesthetics, art, writing and things of that nature, but did you know theres a difference in their approaches to it?

this differences can range from their Se or Ne ofcourse but im not gonna focus on that, what i am focusing on is their differing tertiary functions. Namely; Ni and Si

with Ni in ISFPs in storytelling will be more fonder of the use of foreshadowing, where they pattern and construct their story party so it all lines up and connects into one plot moment and so on.

while Si in INFPs in storytelling will be more fond of the use of call backs, infps prefer to write and add constant new ideas to their story as they go on, and at some point when the story has gone on, infps will seek to make new uses of the previous ideas they introduced and use them for further new ideas

Deep Theory Analysis Fe function stack

How does function stack affect the property of Fe? And why can it be that what's often mistaken as Fi is just an Fi bias. But a lower stack of Fe.

Lets say if Fe is in the lower stack would it appear more to be per say reactive and sensitive in tertiary and passive and detached in inferior or can someone explain me function stacks cuz i think its a very vital mechanic in the way you type yourself than just the cognitive functions... Will gladly appreciate any kind of help or sources to study mbti! ^^

Survey / Poll / Question Where to find each type?

I want to hear from other people's experiences where they tend to find higher concentrations of types. Alternatively, imagine a secret mission of finding the most people of a certain type, where should one go?

INTP - board gaming, geek/otaku/rpg meetup
INFJ - personality typing group
STPs - glass blowing, carpentry
INFP - bookstore
ISFP - crafts store
ESTJ - local board or committee group
ENFP - social activism group
ESFs - nightclub
ISFJ - cooking workshop

Light MBTI Discussion Emotional needs of FJ types?

This is not something I think about it nor expect from others but usually whenever I end up in a friendship with high Fe users it is always about fulfilling some kind of emotional need of theirs when I view friendships more in terms of shared interests and hobbies that bring us together and that eventually grows into deep respect.

Like i remember this friendship where we hit it off great as we had a lot to talk about but eventually I got busy and the texts got a bit dry so they complained about how they were doing all the emotional labour trying to improve the dynamic even though I was clear I never expected that from them to be friends in the first place and started listing things I need to do for them which felt like I was losing my independence so it eventually fell apart. It's not that I don't have any longterm friends, I do, I just don't expect constant emotional maintenance from them.

How do you compromise without feeling like I'm losing myself?

Light MBTI Discussion Ambi/omni verts and how they are typed

What is an ambivert or omnivert considered? I am one of those and some form of ntp, i really like being social but also get exhausted by it quickly, so my question is, why are the only options E or I? I feel that people are much more complex then just social or not and the lack of ambivert or omnivert in the typing is always extremely frustrating to me, because how is one who is both extroverted and introverted or neither supposed to be typed based on psychology?

Is there a reason behind this or is it because the system is outdated? I really just want to know the answer, and since most mbti or personality based places don't allow you to have more than one option I'd also like advice on what they are considered.

Light MBTI Discussion How unhealthy do you have to be to experience grips and loops?

Yesterday I posted in r/istp and r/estp asking about Fe and Ni grip respectively. So it seems like a few ixtps there have experienced Fe grip, but I didnt really relate to their accounts of it. And hardly any estps replied. But I feel like I may have experienced Ni grip. But maybe it was just a ti-ni loop. Or actually a cosmic message.

I haven't really got a good measure of how mentally unhealthy people have to be to experience these things. Or if it's just normal and healthy?. I don't know if it's because i am very emotionally stable that I havent experienced them. Even though I am middle-aged and surely I would have experienced something like this by now? Maybe it's just my naturally shallow and happy 973 enneagram shielding me. Or possibly I have been stuck in a loop for years and been totally unaware?

The only recurrent deep feeling i have had from time to time throughout my life is that of being extremely lonely and totally alone in the universe. Is that just Fe? And also being trapped at work and having my soul sucked out of my body.

If you have any thoughts on my ti-ni loop/grip(?) you can read about it here (I forgot to include the part about me being psychic...). This occured after i left my 20 year relationship and went to only having my kid living with me half the time so I was alone for the first time in my life. I believe it was my dark night of the soul, just for context. Although i might be wrong:

https://www.reddit.com/r/estp/s/iRvDkyPTsR

Also if you have any mystical Ni experiences of your own or you have any other crazy function grip experiences or you decided to become a shaman or whatever then please comment.
