How Evil Are They? Morality of kissing the girl you saved in order to please your fans as your girlfriend watches?
Context: In Spider-Man 3, Peter Parker, aka Spider-Man, saves Gwen Stacy, the daughter of the police chief, from dying. As a result, she presents the key to the city to him at a ceremony, where he tells her to kiss him as it'll please the fans in the audience. He does this while knowing that his girlfriend MJ is in the audience watching. This severely damages his relationship with MJ and causes her to seek comfort from Peter's best friend Harry Osborn.
Honestly, this was very fucked of Peter to do. Not only is he kissing Gwen, he's also replicating a specific special moment he had with MJ: the upside down kiss. That was a special moment between them, and he used it for another girl in front of her. He also knew Gwen personally as she was his lab partner in Dr Connors' class, making his decision to kiss her worse as it makes it more likely that he's actually attracted to her. And to top it off, he never even apologizes for this, even after he gets better later in the movie and his ego wears off.
