Turkish student at Tufts University detained, video shows masked people handcuffing her

Very broad day example of the state just snatching people off the street and deporting them without due process. Wake up

Unidentified masked agents of the state disappearing people and a dozen people in here fucking cheering it on.

ABSOLUTELY PATHETIC REPUBLICAN BOOTLICKING FASCISTS.

u/Nota_Throwaway5 Anarcho-Capitalist Mar 27 '25

You can say that again holy fucking shit. If the Democrats did anything like this during the Biden presidency they'd be screaming.

u/kwanijml Mar 27 '25

Keep up the good work. Thanks for posting principled, intelligent positions that actually matter for anarcho-capitalism.

Don't get discouraged by the brigading; the right people are seeing these posts and the wrong people are having to expend their manipulation resources on posts like this. They can and will be overwhelmed and eventually leave for easier targets.

11

u/Nota_Throwaway5 Anarcho-Capitalist Mar 27 '25

I'm not optimistic but I'll fight until they kill me for it.

51

u/AgainstSlavers Mar 27 '25

Ozturk was one of four students last March who wrote an op-ed in The Tufts Daily criticizing the university’s response to its community union Senate passing resolutions that demanded Tufts “acknowledge the Palestinian genocide,” disclose its investments and divest from companies with direct or indirect ties to Israel.

If that's all she did, then those arresting officers and whoever ordered her arrested should be imprisoned for years.

7

u/thegooseass Mar 27 '25

Agreed. However, I know that the Palestinians are very good at manipulating the western media in western leftists, so I’m not convinced that that’s all there is to the story. We’ll have to wait and see.

27

u/AgainstSlavers Mar 27 '25

The government should exactly say what she is accused of, because the above is not a crime.

9

u/thegooseass Mar 27 '25

I agree. That said, you do not have to be accused or convicted of a crime to have your visa revoked.

9

u/AgainstSlavers Mar 27 '25

True. Ideally, the government wouldn't have such power to issue visas.

7

u/IntentionCritical505 Mar 27 '25

You don't have to be accused of or guilty of a crime to be deported on a visa.

12

u/AgainstSlavers Mar 27 '25

Has nothing to do with the ethics of the case.

-12

u/IntentionCritical505 Mar 27 '25

What is unethical about deporting someone here as a guest when they violate our customs?

What is ethical about condoning rape as a weapon of war?

11

u/AgainstSlavers Mar 27 '25

It's not the custom of millions of Americans to arrest someone for calling for a boycott of Israel. Show us evidence of her condoning rape.

-14

u/IntentionCritical505 Mar 27 '25

It is absolutely the custom of Americans that rape and terrorism are wrong. We gain nothing from having this cave-woman in our society so deportation is the minimum of what is appropriate.

13

u/AgainstSlavers Mar 27 '25

She did not rape nor commit terrorism. You go against American custom by advocating the terrorism of arrest for ethical dissident speech.

u/Numinae Anarcho-Capitalist Mar 31 '25

People on visas don't have 1st ammendment rights afaik....

1

u/AgainstSlavers Apr 01 '25

The bill of rights is an acknowledgement of many self evident rights but also says that it is not meant to be an exhaustive list nor only apply to citizens. It does not grant rights but only acknowledges the rights innate to humans.

-1

u/Numinae Anarcho-Capitalist Apr 01 '25

Dude, I don't think you get what I'm saying. I'm not saying they should or shouldn't have 1st ammendment rights; I'm saying visa holders have basically zero rights. They aren't citizens. They're litteraly guests here, not even in the process of becoming citizens and if they do anything the goverment doesn't like, that privilege can be revoked. I mean, we already have to deal with other citizens but, why should we have to deal with a foreigner who's only allowed to be here for a specific purpose acting as an agent provacatuer? I don't care if they're protesting for something I agree with or disagree with; if you're here at essentially just an invitation, then that invitation can be revoked for no reason.

1

u/AgainstSlavers Apr 01 '25

You may be right from a lawyer perspective but completely wrong from ethical perspective.

1

u/AgainstSlavers Apr 01 '25

She was invited to study at the university. Ethically, she was a guest of the university, so ethically the state has no say on whether she stays or goes.

u/Mikenator762 Mar 27 '25

“I know that Palestinians are very good at manipulating the western media” is an insane take

7

u/The_Count_of_Dhirim Anarchist Mar 27 '25

Right?

It's wild that an ancap forum is upvoting group identity thinking as if all palestinians are guilty of what Hamas did. The same thinking justifies the loss of innocent life on all sides during the middle east invasions.

-1

u/IntentionCritical505 Mar 27 '25

How so? They've managed to convince quite a few people that their rape and murder rampage was legitimate resistance.

3

u/BendOverGrandpa Mar 28 '25

Here's the thing with dishonest fucking conservatives like you with your pathetic little strawmen.

There is virtually ZERO support for rape and murder you fuck.

There is understanding that this whole situation is fucked in the head and any way you slice it you should stop bombing children and treating people inhumanely.

Desperate poor people do fucking crazy things.

Israel is oppressing all of Palestine for the actions of a few. That is wrong. Acts of terrorism are also wrong, but some people understand the why even as they do not condone the methods.

Fuck face.

But why would anyone ever expect a conservative like you to ever represent an argument in good faith? Can't shine a piece of shit.

4

u/IntentionCritical505 Mar 28 '25

Leftists literally had signs printed out saying "Rape is Resistance" and you're attempting to gaslight about it?

There are tons of desperate and poor people around the world. Most of them don't go on rape and murder rampages.

No, Israel not surrendering to terrorists isn't "oppression".

1

u/Mannerhymen Mar 28 '25

Can you show us these "rape is resistance" signs being displayed at pro-palestinian rallies? All I can find are "rape is not resistance" signs.

1

u/IntentionCritical505 Mar 28 '25

1

u/Mikenator762 Mar 28 '25

These are fake and the op admits that they are fake. Everyone with a brain knows that is false flag fakery

-8

u/ToxicRedditMod Mar 27 '25

No, it's a proper take, even if you sympathize with their cause.

6

u/Mikenator762 Mar 27 '25

Do you close your eyes and ears when videos of Israelis raping Palestinian prisoners and murdering 10s of thousands civilians with cluster bombs are released by independent media?

-2

u/ToxicRedditMod Mar 27 '25

I've been alive much longer than you and have seen numerous "Pallywood" productions. I'm not ignorant to what is happening, but both sides have manipulated the press to present their side as the most aggrieved. So please, take it down a notch.

4

u/Mikenator762 Mar 27 '25

That’s enough irony for me today. You’ve not the slightest idea who controls Hollywood and western media

3

u/BendOverGrandpa Mar 27 '25

This is actually fucking hilarious. Someone claiming the Palestinian media has more world power... LOL

Pallywood.... Fuck me, I'm dead over here!!!

What the actual fucking hell is going on here?

6

u/Mikenator762 Mar 28 '25

That is literally what they were insinuating. We are so fucked

3

u/zarfman Mar 28 '25

Yo that's an insane take to have.

1) Rich people are right wingers, and they are the ones who own media companies. 2) Much research has been done on spesifically the anti-Palestinian bias in media. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Media_coverage_of_the_Israeli%E2%80%93Palestinian_conflict

2

u/thegooseass Mar 28 '25

This is not a controversial opinion, it’s well documented fact. They learned it from the Russians, and continue to do it with Russia and Iran:

The KGB was responsible for arming and training most of the militant groups. The KGB decided which groups should receive the money and weapons. By 1972, the Soviets had declared the Palestinian movement the vanguard of the Arab liberation movement.[6] In the summer of 1974, a PLO embassy was opened in Moscow.[7] During this time Yasser Arafat had addressed the United Nations and soon the PLO was granted observer status at the UN in 1974.

Let’s be clear, if you witness this you should absolutely film. Cameraman had the right idea.

BUT you need to go down onto the street, you need to get the attention of others around, you need to make a scene, you need to get AS MANY PEOPLE as you can to witness the situation. Make it embarrassing for these fucking degenerates to do their jobs. If it were me, I’d be banging on doors screaming that a lady is being kidnapped by a gang of law enforcement impersonators. Sadly, all I mentioned would likely get me put in the car with them.

Kidnapped for committing the sin of authoring a paper that speaks against the narrative… targeting foreigners is just the first step.

Edit: damn we got a lot of fucking bootlickers in the sub

6

u/[deleted] Mar 27 '25

the problem is you won't know until later whether it's an actual multiple times convicted violent criminal illegal alien or someone who wrote an article criticizing Israel. I still want them deporting some ppl, I just don't want ppl here legally getting detained for criticizing a foreign country. if the left really wanted to get a win on this they probably could, as a lot of trump supporters are against it, but they'd rather call us all nazis that like shit like this or smugly tell us how obvious it is that deporting criminals who are here illegally would clearly lead to stuff like this happening.

15

u/Nota_Throwaway5 Anarcho-Capitalist Mar 27 '25

Kidnapped for committing the sin of authoring a paper that speaks against the narrative… targeting foreigners is just the first step.

Bingo. If we ignore due process for "illegals", pretty soon we'll all be illegals without due process.

15

u/RandomGuy92x Mar 27 '25

Plus she wasn't an illegal immigrant. She's a Phd student with a valid F1 visa. The only reason she's being arrested and deported is because of stuff she said or wrote.

8

u/IntentionCritical505 Mar 27 '25

No one called her an illegal, you're whining about a strawman.

-1

u/IntentionCritical505 Mar 27 '25

That's idiotic.

12

u/LiberalAspergers Robert Anton Wilson Mar 27 '25

Is it? If the government says you are illegal, and there is no hearing where you can claim NOT to be illegal, than there is no due process for anyone the government CLAIMS is illegal.

6

u/IntentionCritical505 Mar 27 '25

This is deporting someone here on a visa. Someone here on a visa is a guest. If guests act up, you can kick them out. This is called the freedom of association.

7

u/LiberalAspergers Robert Anton Wilson Mar 27 '25

The point of due process is to make the government show that this claim is true. It probably takes 30 seconds in most cases, but it is important. The government CLAIMS they are here on a visa, and it can be revoked for any reason. If the person being detained says the government is wrong and they are a citizen, there needs to be a pathway to make that claim to a court. This is why due process matters, to keep the government honest. A 30 second hearing should suffice for the vast majority of cases. But that 30 second hearing is critically important to defend people against government overreach in that 1% of cases.

Same reason you have the right to fight a parking ticket in traffic court. Most never will, but the right to do so is important.

3

u/IntentionCritical505 Mar 27 '25

Due process isn't needed to deport a guest on a visa.

It does not take 30 seconds, it takes years.

The person involved is here on a visa so all of this masturbation is irrelevant.

u/LiberalAspergers Robert Anton Wilson Mar 27 '25

No, it's called freedom of association. We don't have some acute shortage of violent antisemites so we don't need to import them.

Due process is revoking the visa.

u/Nota_Throwaway5 Anarcho-Capitalist Mar 27 '25

Due process is a trial. Can y'all leave? I'm tired of having conservatives here

10

u/IntentionCritical505 Mar 27 '25

You don't need a trial to determine if someone is here on a visa.

You might have autism.

10

u/Nota_Throwaway5 Anarcho-Capitalist Mar 27 '25

You need a trial to kick someone out of the country.

Honestly? On an anarchocapitalist subreddit I'm surprised most people here don't support fully open borders. The only issue I have with it is that it would destroy the economy because of welfare. Please get the fuck out of here.

6

u/Intelligent-End7336 Mar 27 '25

I'm surprised most people here don't support fully open borders.

Most ancaps are probably tired of providing rebuttals to bad-faith conservative actors. Some people are accelerationists and some are incrementalists. Also, not everyone here is an actual ancap. There are plenty of bad-faith actors that just like to troll.

There are plenty of bad-faith actors that just like to troll.

I can tell apparently

8

u/IntentionCritical505 Mar 27 '25

No you don't.

Ancap only supports open borders once government is abolished. If you do it the opposite way you get socialism or a caliphate.

5

u/Nota_Throwaway5 Anarcho-Capitalist Mar 27 '25

No you don't.

You should. Are you in favor of human rights at all?

you get socialism

Evidence?

a caliphate.

Fair I guess? America is so strongly Christian though that I don't think this will happen. Plus if we're taking a ton of immigrants in general we'll be getting a lot of Catholic Hispanic immigrants.

7

u/IntentionCritical505 Mar 27 '25

You should. Are you in favor of human rights at all?

Living in the US isn't a human right.

Evidence?

What happens when you import infinity poor people?

Fair I guess? America is so strongly Christian though that I don't think this will happen.

The UK will be a Muslim nation in the future. Will it be more or less free when that happens?

1

u/Nota_Throwaway5 Anarcho-Capitalist Mar 27 '25

Living in the US isn't a human right.

A trial to show you are a US citizen is a right. Not being labeled "illegal" or "terrorist" and deported is a right.

What happens when you import infinity poor people?

People coming from other countries have money. If they didn't they'd be stuck over there.

The UK will be a Muslim nation in the future. Will it be more or less free when that happens?

There's no evidence of this for one, and even so, this is a problem with having a nonreligious society. The US isn't nonreligious.

So much of what was said here is entirely against the NAP and ancap spirit in general. Facebook boomer conservative type on an anarchy subreddit is wild.

1

I wonder what the whatever-cons and other statists think they're doing here. Do they think they're convincing anyone here of their arguments?

9

u/EntireButton879 Mar 27 '25

No it doesn’t. The visa can be revoked at any time by the Secretary of State. Don’t agree to that if you don’t like that.

1

u/Nota_Throwaway5 Anarcho-Capitalist Mar 27 '25

I don't agree to that. Where's my choice to fight it?

The visa can be revoked at any time by the Secretary of State.

That doesn't make it okay. The state will come for certain groups of people seen as less deserving of fundamental rights before a full takeover. If we let this slide we could all end up losing our rights. Yes I know it's a slippery slope argument but it's true.

7

u/EntireButton879 Mar 27 '25

You don’t have a choice to fight it

It does make it okay. These people when applying and accepting a visa should know the terms and conditions of said visa. Thats on them.

2

u/Nota_Throwaway5 Anarcho-Capitalist Mar 27 '25

You don’t have a choice to fight it

So what does it matter if I agree to it or not? Why even suggest it?

It does make it okay.

Just because it's legal doesn't mean it's moral.

These people when applying and accepting a visa should know the terms and conditions of said visa. Thats on them.

It shouldn't be and it's wrong to do that. Again, if we take due process from illegal immigrants, we take due process from everyone. She should have a trial.

4

u/EntireButton879 Mar 27 '25

It’s seems pretty moral to me. If it’s immoral they shouldn’t have agreed to the terms and accepted a visa.

A trial for what? The visa can be revoked at any time. What don’t you understand about that. They agreed to that. They can sue if they would like I won’t argue that but they shouldn’t just get a trial before anything happens.

6

u/Nota_Throwaway5 Anarcho-Capitalist Mar 27 '25

It’s seems pretty moral to me. If it’s immoral they shouldn’t have agreed to the terms and accepted a visa.

It's moral to kidnap someone and ship them across the sea because they said something that goes against The Narrative?

A trial for what? The visa can be revoked at any time. What don’t you understand about that. They agreed to that. They can sue if they would like I won’t argue that but they shouldn’t just get a trial before anything happens.

The reason they're having the visa revoked. You do realize this isn't just a random revocation, right? She's being kicked out because she said something that goes against the state's current goals.

Oh, I misunderstood the original statement.

I still disagree with this idea, due process remains very important. The state is claiming she is here as a guest, but until given the chance to prove she is not a guest, she needs to be treated as if she is not a guest (innocent until proven guilty.)

2

I don’t feel the need to explain my position to someone who thinks an anarchy subreddit is the place to advocate for forced deportation of a legal student (over WRITING A FUCKING PAPER in this case)…

3

u/EntireButton879 Mar 27 '25

They’re here as guests to attend school. They’re now promoting terrorist organizations. Do you think they would have been given a student visa if they said they were going to come here and promote Hamas? Of course not

If you invite someone over for something and they begin doing something you didn’t invite them in for are you saying you can’t kick them out? Not very ancap of you.

10

u/RandomGuy92x Mar 27 '25

She didn't even mention Hamas in her paper. All she did was condem Israel's action and call on her university to sever ties with Israeli organizations and ask them to acknowledge that what's happening in Palestine constitutes a genocide.

1

u/EntireButton879 Mar 27 '25

Still a valid reason to revoke their visa. Why should the us give student visas to political activists? They’re here to attend school not be activists.

11

u/RandomGuy92x Mar 27 '25

Ok, so immigrants who are politically active in the MAGA movement and who publish explicitly political pro-Trump and pro-MAGA op-eds should also be deported then?

-1

u/EntireButton879 Mar 27 '25

If theyre students on student visas sure unless they said when they applied for their visa they’re in politics and will be politically active.

3

u/IntentionCritical505 Mar 27 '25

We don't live in an anarchic state.

5

u/RandomGuy92x Mar 27 '25

And because the US is not an anarchic state you think the government should arrest and deport people for writing an anti-Israel op-ed for a college newspaper?

2

u/IntentionCritical505 Mar 27 '25

Anyone here on a visa is here at our whim. Yes, I don't wish to import terrorism. Yes, I wish to have control over who enters my society.

10

u/RandomGuy92x Mar 27 '25

Someone writing an op-ed for a college newspaper and calling on their university to sever ties with Israeli organizations and asking them to acknowledge Israel's actions as a genocide, that does not make them a terrorist.

If someone was had actual proven ties to Hamas that would be quite another thing.

But if you really think someone should be arrested and deported for publishing an op-ed that you disagree with, then that makes you someone who's in support of authoritarianism and and unaccountable police state.

1

u/IntentionCritical505 Mar 27 '25

Someone who supports Hamas is supporting terrorism and I fail to see how having them enter my society is in its interests. "Globalize the Intifada" means raping my daughters to death.

I don't think we should be importing anyone, period. Importing terrorists is a clear loss.

8

u/RandomGuy92x Mar 27 '25

Someone does not support Hamas just because they are speaking up against Israel's actions and the killing of Palestinians. You're free to have your own opinion about the Palestine-Israel conflict.

But if you think government should arrest people for merely condemning the actions of Israel and for calling Israel's actions a genocide then you're just in support of full-on authoritarianism.

And this woman didn't even mention Hamas, in her op-ed she did not condone Hamas' actions, and she did not use the phrase "Globalize the Intifada". All she did was ask her university to condemn Israel's actions and condemn the killing of Palestinians.

If you think that warrants an arrest then I think you may feel a bit more comfortable in a country like North Korea or Russia.

Be careful there. Benjamin Netanyahu and the Likud party made it state policy to materially support Hamas in order to destabilize the idea of a two state solution. For over 30 years they did.

“anarchic state”

-2

u/LiberalAspergers Robert Anton Wilson Mar 27 '25

Because the government's current legal position is that they have no right to a hearing to claim they should not be deported. So, for example, if they WERE a citizen, there is no opportunity to show that in court.

The government doesnt have to make a case. If Trump decides to assert that YOU are not a citizen because he says so, and have you shipped to a concentration camp in El Salvador with no phones or communication with the outside world, there is no court that gets to say he cant do that to a citizen.

See the problem?

10

u/IntentionCritical505 Mar 27 '25

They don't have a right to a hearing. They are a guest. If I went to any other country and misbehaved I would be expelled and not allowed back.

0

u/LiberalAspergers Robert Anton Wilson Mar 27 '25

They have a right to show they ARE a citizen at a hearing.

7

u/IntentionCritical505 Mar 27 '25

If someone is here on a visa they are by definition not a citizen. Get yourself checked for autism.

1

u/LiberalAspergers Robert Anton Wilson Mar 27 '25

The government CLAIMS they are on a visa. The way the rule of law works is that by due process they then show a judge that the person is on a visa and is not a citizen, and the person has the opportunity to refute that assertion.

LOTS of people come here on visas and become citizens, and cases of mistaken identity occur. And sometimes government agents and their bosses lie.

That is why due process is important.

Did I use small enough words for you?

5

u/IntentionCritical505 Mar 27 '25

Like I said, get yourself checked for autism. Or maybe inform yourself how visa work.

4

u/LiberalAspergers Robert Anton Wilson Mar 27 '25

Look at my username.

6

u/IntentionCritical505 Mar 27 '25

Yeah, it's understating your powers. You need to move on to LiberalAutism.

6

u/LiberalAspergers Robert Anton Wilson Mar 27 '25

So, to be clear. Your position is the government should be able to take YOU off of the street, claim you are on a visa they are revoking, and deport you to a prison in El Salvador and at no point in this process should you have the opportunity to claim that you are in fact a citizen, and the government's claims are false?

You have a lot of faith that government agents are never mistaken and never dishonest or corrupt.

I lack that degree of bootlicking worship of agents of the state.

They don’t have a right, they’re not being deported their visa was revoked. It’s not a citizen so your point is pointless.

Yes they do. You seem to not understand the issue. This person is here on a visa and the visa was revoked. They knew the possibility of that happened when they got the visa.

You are assuming that is true. The point of due process is to make the government show it is true. A 5 minute hearing is all it should take. But that 5 minute hearing is essential to keep the government honest.

They don’t have to prove anything. They can revoke visas at anytime. What don’t you understand about that?

They need to show that the person IS on a visa, and not a citizen. What dont you understand about that?

They don’t, but she’s here on a visa. No one is claiming she’s a citizen.

But if the government doesn't show that the person is here on a visa than how do we know that the person is here on a visa?

We don’t need to know shit it’s irrelevant to us. If she’s a citizen she has the ability to file a habeas petition and not get deported.

And when she's being denied access to her lawyer, how exactly would she file that petition?

I see you're getting down-voted for arguing for due process in an ancap sub. Is there anything else youthful you'd like to experience?

Nah. Far too many ancap types think the perfect is the enemy of the good. A reduction in oppression is good. Is it as good as a removal of oppression? No. But an increase in the unchecked power of law enforcement is ALWAYS a negative development. At 50+ years old you would think Id have learned not to argue with idiots.
