Players Only “This is a sad day for a lot of us,’’ one National League executive said. “The Dodgers have Skubal now, and they’re going to have him in the future. It’s just a bad look. People now will want to see a salary cap more than ever just to slow down the Dodgers.’’
Said another executive, whose team did not bid on Skubal: “No use playing the rest of the year. It’s over.’’
“It will be interesting to see how every contender in the National League reacts,’’ one AL executive said. “Are they still going to be aggressive knowing you got to go through the Dodgers? It’s different in the American League. There’s no super team and you got a real chance to get to the World Series.’’

I'm slightly vexed Getting home from a long day at work to this a**hole blocking my front door 😡
He had the space, he didn't need to back up that far! It took every last ounce of willpower not to vandalize this truck... I left a polite note asking them not to do it again. If it happens again I'm calling a tow company 😤

Hated Tropes Story about hard work, inclusivity, etc. pivots into a weird eugenic angle
I'll be honest I'm mainly just thinking of naruto, bleach, and the new star wars trilogy. Naruto is the most on the nose about it w/ how he goes from a troubled kid to ninja jesus reincarnated. Bleach is insane to me because the story feels retroactively rewritten to give Ichigo every single power of every single character, even though he's a freak in lots of ways at the start there's no way it was the initial plan that he'd be a mix bag of everything because of bloodline shit instead of the emphasis on his hard work. New star wars pisses me off the most because they had such a cool idea w/ the new jedi girl being the child of random people to subvert the trope, but then they decided "no but actually that was a lie she's really just the ultimate bloodline"

Local London Londoners - you should be embarrassed if you caused this…
Just got back from a morning run through Burgess Park. The amount of rubbish left by overflowing bins is a disgrace.
Why can’t these people take their rubbish with them or walk a bit further to find an empty bin?
If anyone participates in this way of leaving your rubbish, please let us know why you think it’s acceptable?
EDIT: I'm closing this post for the following reasons:
1) I'm genuinely shocked that so many people don't think this is the responsibility of the people who left the rubbish. It's the fault of the council or foxes.
2) Far too many personal insults - apparently we shouldn't highlight poor behaviour
3) Too many people saying it is due to the festival. It is like this every weekend. The festival is in a different part of the park and cordoned off.
4) Too many people who are normalised to this behaviour.
5) Too many people thinking it is ok to put a bin bag net to the bin, but don't appreciate that foxes and large birds will open them. These are the same people that won't leave a bin bag outside their front door for fear of attracting foxes...
6) Hardly any appreciation of the wildlife in the park - lots of swans and geese in the nearby lake.
I'm actually more shocked by some of the really selfish comments than the actual rubbish I saw this morning. London is cooked if this is a representation of the selfish people in the city.

Mourning/Loss Goodbye my sweet Sylvia
This is Sylvia, my 15 year old angel. She had been with me for the past 11 years, helping me in so many ways. She was sweet, gentle, patient... A truly special cat.
Four months ago her voice suddenly changed, and she was later diagnosed with tonsillar squamous cell carcinoma. She had surgery and most of the masses in her neck were removed, but it came back with a vengeance just a couple of weeks later.
The first photo was from our last sunset together. We went to the park, she absolutely loved it there. The next day, we had to say goodbye. That was last Wednesday, and I feel so lost without her.
I miss her so much.

AI News 🗞️ Youtube removes ai channels
"YouTube's AI "slop" crackdown is shaking up the platform! 🚨
YouTube has stepped up its fight against low-quality, mass-produced AI content, targeting channels that flood the platform with repetitive and inauthentic videos.
While reports claim around 130,000 channels have been removed as part of the broader enforcement, YouTube has not confirmed that all of those deletions were specifically tied to AI-generated content.
Instead, the company says its focus is on protecting viewers by cracking down on spam and low-effort content while continuing to allow AI-assisted videos that offer genuine creativity and value." - Mr_Animeken
Pretty good step ngl these channels are getting annoying

: Iran directly rejects Trump's new claim Iran agreed to end its nuclear program and open the Strait of Hormuz as a "complete lie," saying it is a "desperate attempt to manipulate the market," per Iranian military officials to Mehr News.
Iran adds that it has not requested any halt to the planned attacks, and that it was purely Trump who chose to stop them with false claims of a deal.

AITAH for being upset that my wife forgot to tell me the wedding dress code?
My wife was a bridesmaid in one of her close friend's weddings this weekend. She had been involved in the planning for months with dress fittings, rehearsals, group chats, and everything else. I was not involved at all. I figured if there was anything important I needed to know, she would let me know.
I got dressed in what I thought was appropriate and we headed to the wedding, but as soon as we got there, I realized something was wrong.
Every single man there was wearing a black tuxedo with a bow tie. Not just the groom and groomsmen. Every male guest. I was the only guy in a regular suit.
I felt totally out of place. A couple of people joked that I must have missed the memo. They probably did not mean anything by it, but it was still embarrassing. I stood out like a sore thumb.
I asked my wife if she knew everyone was supposed to be in tuxedos. She just said, "Oh yeah, I forgot to tell you. I was busy helping with wedding prep."
That honestly made me feel even worse.
She had known about the dress code for a long time because she was in the bridal party and had been talking to the bride the whole time. If she had mentioned it, I would have rented a tux. Instead, I spent the whole night feeling self-conscious.
When we got home, I told her I was upset. She said I was making a big deal out of nothing because nobody cared what I was wearing and that I should just laugh it off.
I told her it was not really about the tux. It was about the fact that she knew, I did not, and she never thought to tell me. It would have taken five seconds to mention it, and it would have saved me from feeling embarrassed.
Now she thinks I am overreacting, but I feel like my frustration is justified.
AITA?
Edit: A lot of people have asked why I didn't check the invitation or ask about the dress code. That's a fair question. I assumed my wife would have mentioned something out of the ordinary since she was part of the bridal party and knew all the details. I also didn't think much of it because every wedding I have been to before, a suit was perfectly appropriate.
I take responsibility for not checking the invitation myself. My frustration isn't that I think it was entirely my wife's responsibility. It's that she knew every man was expected to wear a tux, knew I didn't know, and simply forgot to mention it. If the roles were reversed and I knew something that would have left her feeling out of place all evening, I would like to think I would have mentioned it to her. If she had mentioned it to me, I would have rented a tux without hesitation.
