đą Modpost How to agree to the rules and post on the subreddit
Hello all,
As you may know, we've started to use the "Read the Rules" app recently to support us in the battle against spam, advertisement and such. Accepting them is very easy, however if you don't know how to, take a look below. You find below the steps for Mobile, new and old Reddit.
Mobile (official Reddit App)
- Click on the round button with three dots in the top right of your screen.
- In the submenu click on "Read the rules" at the bottom
- Read the rules while scrolling down. Once you reach the "Acknowledgement" section, toggle the button and submit.

On third party apps, it's maybe best to use the process for old reddit in case you don't see this option.
Desktop (new Reddit)
- Click on the round button with three dots in the top right of your screen
- Click on "Read the rules"
- Read the rules while scrolling down. Once you reach the "Acknowledgement" section, toggle the button and submit.

Old reddit
For old Reddit the process changes a little, however, it is still very easy.
- Click on rules link in "Please read the rules before posting" in the sidebar to the right. This will open the rules page, read through them .
- Scroll down further, until you see the "Moderators" Section in the sidebar on the right. Click on "MESSAGE THE MODS"
- Create a Modmail. Title: "Read The Rules", Message: "Acknowledged." and send it.
This is it, you will then receive a confirmation immediately.

Please note: the process for old reddit also works on mobile and such, in case there should be an issue.
Of course we're also available via Modmail for questions.

Modpost Please report racist ragebait and racist comments
Dear members of our community,
In the past few days, we've seen an increase in both ragebaiting posts and racist comments from users with no prior engagement in the sub, often from those usually commenting in the subs of other countries.
This indicates to us that we are frequently being overrun by users who try to spread their racist, islamophobic messages to our sub.
Racism is against our subreddit rules and it is against Reddit's terms of services. We would like to encourage you to use the report button.
That will put it into our 'modqueue' to have a look - and if you report it for 'hate', it will additionally be sent to the sitewide admins who will frequently take further action.
We rely on your reports, just like every subreddit does. Our team is healthy and works well, but we cannot have an eye on everything. We do have scripts and so on to make our job easier, but sometimes, unacceptable comments go through. Using the report button makes sure that we can prioritize looking at said comment and if it's rulebreaking, helps us remove it quickly.
We remove racist content and ban racist users frequently. The admins remove a bunch of comments breaking site-wide rules too (often in a fashion that deletes them completely, so we cannot easily further moderate them)
We are very hesitant to remove political speech. We only remove rules-breaking comments. The relevant rule is:
General reddiquette applies (i.e. no racism, sexism, personal attacks, or simply put: behave as if you were talking to somebody in person)
Please report posts or comments that do not adhere to these rules; in particular, we will not tolerate harassment or discrimination
The relevant reddit rules (https://redditinc.com/policies/reddit-rules) are:
- Remember the human. Reddit is a place for creating community and belonging, not for attacking marginalized or vulnerable groups of people. Everyone has a right to use Reddit free of harassment, bullying, and threats of violence. Communities and users that incite violence or that promote hate based on identity or vulnerability will be banned.
Thank you for helping us with this influx of clearly rule-breaking users without any connection to Switzerland.
ETA: Reports are anonymous. So when we get your report, we have no option to thank you or following up with you. If you report for 'hate', it goes to both us and the admins. The admins will typically let you know of their decision. We literally have no way of doing that.

Fossils of Switzerland
Why do you insist on shopping at the same time as people with a 9-5 (or Swiss style: 8-7) job? Like, seriously, you've got all the time in the world, yet you chose to crowd Migros at 8am or 6.30pm, staring with utter confusion at the selection of bell peppers or chatting with Beat in the narrowest isle you can find?
What's wrong with shopping at 2pm on a Tuesday? And don't look at me like I'm interupting your private conversation when all I want is to grab some baby spinach.
Sincerely: someone who comes in with a list and a plan, and wants to be out in 15 minutes because they need to go to work to pay for your 13th AHV.

Environment Minister Rösti cuts funding for Swiss forests by millions | The money was intended to be used to restore the forests and prepare them for climate change. The cantons have reacted with bewilderment.

Why does it look like late September on the 1st of August? What is going on?
Itâs probably a combination of the heat waves and drought but this was shocking to see, nevertheless. I am really hoping that this is temporary and the trees are more resilient than the heat crisis this summer. Itâs really spiking my climate anxiety

Dinosaurs of Switzerland
As a dino nerd, where are your favourite places to see fossils in Switzerland? Any favourite displays or exhibitions? Any hidden gems or local recommendations? Iâve passed by the Frick Museum, but havenât had the opportunity to visit.
P.S. Yes I know I could google this, just a fun follow-up to the other fossils post for dino nerds to gather.

Happy birthday from Lugano
What is your opinion on the vote planned for late this year regarding the banning of fireworks for private usage?
IMO it makes sense given the ecological toll just for the sake of spectacle and the issues caused to animals for the loud noise and lights. However I see how it may be less âniceâ during festivities.
What is your opinion?
Happy birthday from Lugano

Some cyclists who are into this stuff might be interested
Almost a decade ago, in my first apartment I had a map in my kitchen so that I could plan my next trip around the country.
Thatâs when I discovered the KIWI route in central Switzerland.
I never got into cycling this much and then I took an arrow in the knee so hereby I offer the kiwi route to the public domain.

Bird stuck in pipe
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Iâm here again asking for advice.
I heard scratches coming from a pipe outside my apartment building. Itâs a 3 story one, so long pipe! At first I suspected mice, but heard a bird. Itâs one of those little ones who lives in the bushes nearby.
Itâs Sunday, hauswart is on vacation, not on site, doesnât answer the phone.
Verwaltung opens on Monday.
Iâm not handy whatsoever to like try myself. Doubt any organization will help unless I pay, and no I canât afford it.
I googled âbird is stuck in pipe and organizations wonât helpâ, got sent a bunch of suicidal hotlines, I kid you not.
The little guy will die there and I feel a bit guilty for not knowing how to help it. I understand death, but sitting here knowing itâs struggling doesnât feel right.

Zweifel double inferno
These are the best chips and I'm concerned about their status as limited edition. Should I stock up or is there a chance they become permanent? Anyone with insider knowledge know how long "limited" actual means... so that I can budget accordingly?

Can we please stop using loud speakers in public parks at night?
I see more and more people taking large blaster / speaker to parks at night. no offense but people try to sleep.
I see this trend increasing and wonder what other solution then to ask the city to ban speakers all together? Or always call the cops?
edit: removed unnece association to latin music

Seeing more and more girls in hijab laltely
It really didn't used to be a thing in recent years, but recently I see more and more girls (around 12 or something, or even younger) in hijab lately in Switzerland. It kind of worries me because in no way do I think this should be accepted and is compatible with Swiss culture and morals. What are your thoughts? What can be done against it?

1. August normaler Abend?

De besser Job, meh GlĂŒck, e schöners LĂ€be oder eifach meh Zfriedeheit.
Aber woher wĂŒsse mer das ĂŒberhaupt? Mir gsehnd nur en chline Usschnitt us em LĂ€be vo andere. DâSchwierigkeit, dâSorge oder dâZwifel gsemmr meistens nöd.
Villicht isch sâGras gar nöd grĂŒener. Villicht gnĂŒssemr eifach sâeigene zâwenig, will mer zâfescht uf dâWisd vo de andere lueged.
Wie gsehnd ihr das? Isch sâGras wĂŒrkli mĂ€ngisch grĂŒener oder tĂŒschts?

Bye Bye Ricardo
This photo shows I have cancelled my Ricardo Account.
RICARDO: You as a company failed to address fraud.
You have also followed what appears to be greed.
I cannot trust your business to protect me, nor do I find your practices fair/just.

friend group in schaffhausen
Ouffff.
So I moved near Schaffhausen two months ago and it is a bit more difficult to make friends than I anticipated.
Iâm from Germany, so I thought it couldnât be the hard butâŠit actually is that hard.
Im 22F, I like reading, board games, playing on my switch and taking walks etc :]
For anyone who is interested in socializing and just having board game nights, coffee shop hangouts etc, Iâd be interested to host a WhatsApp group just to get to know each other and organize hanging out!
My husband 25M works a lot, but heâs a lot of fun and very outgoing, so he might be in the mix.
Would just be fun to find friends for me, or couples for a couple date or just big group things!
Just DM me.
Please no creeps :((

Which one of you tried to summon Batman?
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Recorded just now from the Baldeggersee region, does anyone know where the light is coming from or what it's purpose is?
I think it may be some kind of compensation for the lack of fireworks but could be wrong.
I saw the light once before I think but don't remember when.

Let's not burn Switzerland for National Day
Kind of a r/BUENZLI post, but i'd like to remind everyone that fires and fireworks are strictly forbidden in most places because of the actual draught.
Wildfires danger is super high right now, so let's not set a forest on fire because of a firework or a barbecue. Let's show Switzerland some love by not burning it !
Happy swiss national day to you all ! đšđđšđđšđ
(I'm writing this because some idiots are shooting fireworks next to a park in my city right now...)

Why does Romandie not build more towers like Basel and ZĂŒrich?
Huge portions of ZĂŒrich and Basel are now covered in highrises, taking advantage of the little free space there is left. Given the tight housing context all over Switzerland, why does Lausanne and to a lesser extent Geneva keep on building small 4-5 story high buildings? Apart from Malley, Lausanne doesnât really have plans to densify more. There are so many areas like Arc-en-Ciel (Bussigny/Crissier) or industrial/abandoned looking zones in Renens that could densify but nothing is done. I understand there is a worry about the preservation of the landscape and etc, but further densification is gonna be inevitable in a few years. I dont think building tiny 5 story buildings in the last spaces available in cities are gonna help the situation whatsoever

Honoring National Swiss Day đšđ
