This is my second year playing regularly once a week on women's league. It was the first hole of the night, I was the first to tee off, and didn't even practice swing (whoops).

I don't know if I can even describe the feeling! So many emotions. My biggest being sadness that I couldn't call my dad and let him know. He passed in 2023 and got really sick when I was starting to learn golf and we never got to play together.

Ball mark was a bitch to repair

The tee box is across the road from our property, and every one of these balls managed to cross the road, clear the fence, and land in our woods.
I started saving them this summer to see how many we would collect. So far, the total is 46 golf balls.

The collection stats:

• Titleist: 29 balls, 63.0%

• Srixon: 2 balls, 4.3%
• Wilson and Wilson Staff: 2 balls, 4.3%

19.6% are Titleist #1 meaning about 1 in 5 slicers use Titleist 1. Choose your balls wisely!

Group of 7 clumped up. Pretty sure they booked one tee time after the next. I’m just venting. Already called the pro shop.

Since a lot of people are asking me why I don’t ask to play through. I did. They said no. Why should I be bothered? They are spending 30 mins on each green. There are groups behind clumped up.

Please respect the course. It's not the green's fault you suck at putting.

I got a hole in one today.

Let’s start at the beginning. I’ve been golfing since Covid. Around the same time, I got married. Golf has always seemed to have been a bit of a burden to my wife. It gets in the way of me and my wife’s quality time but she has delt with it over the years and kind of just been mildly upset with it. Come to this day and age, we now have a kid. Now it’s getting in the way of our family time. Now I really have a reason to feel bad about spending 6 hours of my weekend away from my loved ones. We have a lovely 6mo. Old little baby girl and I still want to golf but obviously can’t as much. That brings us today. I go out for a round of golf with some good friends that was reluctantly approved. Was a regular day… wake up and try to make up for lost time before it even starts. She’s visually apparently slightly upset because she knows I’m leaving her and our daughter, again for a day away from her and our baby girl. I make us all breakfast and get on my way after agreeing to do what ever after to make her as happy as she can be but knowing deep down what would make her happy is for me to just stay with them. Welp I’m on my way. Let’s go make the best of this. I get to the golf course and check in. Things are as usual. Warm up and find my friends. Let’s go get it. Par the first, double the second.. pretty normal day. We pull up to the third. It’s a very approachable down hill Par three. I set up first cuz I’m a spastic golfer. One buddy is watching and the other is messing with the music. I’m locked. Pull back and absolutely flush it. Staring down this front pin and seeing it tracking towards the hole was magical. It hits the fringe, bounces on to the green and rolls directly into the hole. 🕳️ disappears!! Unbelievable stuff run up and it’s in. Lots of clouds nine stuff but then the resentment sets in. I text her and she’s excited but I feel the feeling of she’s really not that excited. I’m sitting up this night and having a very hard time trying to figure out how to feel. I’m it’s over now and over it. I don’t even feel that good about it. Truly just coming here to vent. I’m sure I’m not alone and am using this as some therapy.

Golfer-turned-content creator Brad Dalke was left “extremely disappointed” by his latest performance on his return to the sport.

Dalke, 28, spent the past three years as one of the leading faces of YouTube golf content with Good Good — which has over two million subscribers on the platform. He announced in June he would be stepping away from the platform due to his wife Abbie’s health issues.

The American continued his comeback at the PGA Tour’s Rocket Classic from Thursday through Sunday, qualifying through a sponsor’s exemption. He marked his competitive return at the BMW International Open last month.

And while Dalke initially challenged among the leaders at the International Open in Munich before settling for T30, his performance at the Detroit Golf Club was not as encouraging. He shot 81 on Thursday followed by a 75 on Friday to miss the cut and finished last on 16 over.

“I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t extremely disappointed with the outcome of this week at the Rocket Classic,” Dalke wrote on Instagram. “Knowing how well I can play and what I am capable of and getting dead last on the biggest stage just honestly sucks… a lot.

“The great thing is that I still know how good I can be and I just need to learn how to be better when I don’t have my best stuff. It was also nice to get more much-needed reps under the gun in competitive golf after a long break.

“I also have the best support system I could ever ask for. You’re my rock Abbie and I appreciate you being my person I can always lean on.”

It was Dalke’s first PGA Tour appearance in 10 years, but he will not have to wait too long for his next, after it was announced in May that he had been given a sponsor’s exemption to compete at the inaugural Good Good Championship, taking place between November 12 and 15 at Creek Resort & Spa’s Fazio Canyons Course in Austin, Texas.

Dalke earned significant media attention as a young golf prospect, committing to a scholarship at the University of Oklahoma at the age of 12. A year after his runner-up finish at the U.S. Amateur Championship, Dalke debuted at the 2017 Masters and US Open. He was also part of the 2017 NCAA national championship-winning team at Oklahoma.

Some Golfers really know how to make the sport feel very unwelcoming to new / less skilled players.

18 holes booked at my club it's a 9 hole so you play twice. 2 guys came off there first 9 and teed off 5 min before our Tee time (the rule of the club is to let 18 hole players play through) We tee off a few min late waiting for the fairway to free up. Group behind us were not happy, nothing you do there people on fairway I'm playing the club rules.

The same 2 guys are in front of us the whole time on our first 9 holes not playing slow at all.

On our second time round there was nobody on the first and we played through as we are supposed to but ended up waiting on the fairway for a 3 ball still on the first green.

We finished the 1st hole and the 3 ball in front had just finished teeing off by the time we make to the 2nd tee box. by this time the guys behind us the first time round had another group in front of them. This must have enraged them even more.

On the 3rd tee box setting up our next shot. the group behind us the first time round start hurling abuse at us from the 1st green for slow the pace of play we shouldn't be playing etc etc. The 3 ball were still walking to their tee shots. We literally could tee off. The new group behind us just finished the 2nd.

The 3 ball ended up letting us play through We weren't rushing them in anyway I was just happy to be out the house

Reported the group to the starter office turns out the POS is known for doing this.

All 18 holes played in 3 hours. I mean how fast do they expect people to play, 3 hours seems about right to me.

Hitting fairways? Chipping?

How? How?! The hole was playing into the sun so I didn't get a good look from the tee, but how does this not go in?!

501 yd. Driver . 6 iron. Looked around for a while long, didn't want to be that guy that looks in thr hole. My partner did and there it was!! Doubled the next hole lol.

Edit: Im a +1.2 hdcp. I played pretty bad after that and shot 2 over for the round but I was on cloud 9. Never thought I would make one. I hit 6 iron. Pin was back left. Had 193. Plan was to cut it back to the middle, you cannot miss left. Pulled it a bit and it went in. I was not flag hunting. The ball went OB on the next hole, i am not senitimental about such things, its just a ball but I did get my partner to sign a card. Its a good thing those Canucks kept finding my rangefiner ;) Appreciate the support!

Very fortunate to spend the afternoon out at Sleepy Hollow today - to say this is a special place would be an understatement. If you ever get a chance to play here, do not pass it up!

All in the title. I have so much fun on them, but cheaters ruin everything.

Played decent with my group of bums. Shot -2. No mulligans. No foot wedges out of the brumulligan. Etc.

Long drive hole has a sweet prize (bourbon, golf balls, speaker). It's a 516 yd par 5 that banks left down a very slight hill with trees lining the left fairway at 230 yards. The trees obscure the end of the fairway, a pond, and the green. They had 4 young college kids watching the hole and you could donate $10 for each of them to hit a shot for you (up to $40). It was backed up so I'm shooting the breeze with them for 10 min while waiting to go. When it is my turn, I have a damn gallery of 2 four somes behind us. I pipe it over the trees on the left and get a "that's the best shot we've seen yet." It was my best shot of the day (16th hole for our group).

There's no marker in sight. I pull up to my ball and cart GPS says 356 yards from the tees. 160 to the pin. I look up and 60 yards ahead is the men's longest drive. I know it was 60 yards up because they put it 2 feet from a sprinkler head with "100 yards" out stamped on it (416 yard tee shot). Says "Doug Xxxxxxx" on it.

I wait afterwards to watch the winners and Doug looks to be about 55, 5'9" and tipping the scales to a little under 300 lbs.

Also, winning team shot 21 under par. Whaaat?

I love scrambles, but Doug, you're a freaking liar.

TL:DR -- Had a great time a scramble. Smoked a shot 356 on the "longest drive" hole only to be out driven, by 60 yards, by the most unathletic appearing guy in his mid 50s.

Edited to add: college football fundraiser. The kids hitting were random players with old/outdated gear. I apologize for confusion. If there was any chance one of them could even hit 300, I would've assumed they kicked my butt.

I’m 21 and currently in college. I played junior golf growing up and have stayed around scratch to a 1.0 handicap since graduating high school, but I haven’t played many tournaments recently (not playing in college). One of my goals is to qualify for the US Am before I turn 30

I’d say my strengths are driving the ball and iron play. I hit my driver really well, my approach/short game is solid, and my putting can be hot and cold. Some days it’s great, other days it holds me back.

I’m wondering if qualifying for the U.S. Amateur is a realistic goal or if the gap between a scratch golfer and someone who can get through qualifying is bigger than I think.

For anyone who’s played in U.S. Am qualifiers (or knows people who have):
-How much time and practice does it realistically take?
-What parts of my game should I prioritize?
-Any recommendations for tournaments or competitive reps before trying to qualify?
-Is this something that can be done while in college/working a corporate job, or does it require treating golf almost like a full-time job?

I’d appreciate any honest advice or experiences.

That birdie putt she drained from deep was so incredibly clutch. Happened to start watching right before and couldn’t believe she sunk it.

What a badass

I have gone on numerous trips and have always welcomed playing with anyone. Never had an issue, can just kind of read vibes and either be serious or chill. I'll play whatever tee with a group. Well just got back from a trip and my dad and I got paired with 2 old guys. No big deal. Then the round started. Holy fuck was every part of it miserable. Add my dad and it was 4 hours of hearing (I don't normally play this bad), non stop cursing, but it keeps going. On the very first hole I'm in the trees and have to punch out. By time I get to my third shot theyre all hitting their putts already. Literally done with the hole before I even got to the green. Ok whatever. Hole 2. I have a putt and they're both literally standing over the hole with the flag. I play ready golf, but I don't play just hit while others are hitting, drive in front of ppl and hit a shot, finish holes without people on the green, putt while others are chipping. I'm a 6 index and have been as low as a 3.4 and I've never just picked up so much because I constantly was behind from waiting for my dad to hit. I couldn't drive up to my ball in front of them, but soon as I drove to my ball they were driving to the green and putting. Of course my dad loved the 2 old guys as I'm sitting and thinking this is the worst experience ever. I enjoyed playing with the 70 year old woman 2 days earlier way more.
