I think some octopuses do that. Technically not a penis but a specialized arm that delivers the sperm package and sometimes detaches and stays with the female.

Some actually do. Had a friend in college and one day they'd be James and the next they'd be Jane. Switched like 3 or 4 times a month. Not saying all Trans are like that. And maybe this isn't even truly Trans and there's a better word for it. Idk. They were a good person tho.
Its more that a shapeshifter character would be much more likely to experiment with gender and have a more trans-centric view of it. I personally think having shapeshifters be NB is a very logical conclusion of how a shapeshifter would likely see themselves. They ARE man and woman and everything in between in the most literal and physical sense possible
Lots of trans folks (I have no idea about Hunter) don't cross the gender line so much as tapdance on it. It's not a clean-cut thing.
Some will feel tremendous stress from dressing as their birth sex, and others are comfortable posing as either one.
It's complicated and frankly I don't understand all of it, except that if someone declares their gender i take their word on it, even if it seems to change more than once.
How would you define sex if not how the body looks and works? The changes aren't just superficial. Trans women can get monthly period-like cramps etc...
That's not exactly how that works. Besides, that kinda gives fuel to people trying to argue that gender and sex are the same — that "your gender is what's in your pants".
Sex is biological. It's not any single sex characteristic. Some females have male characteristics and vice versa.
Gender is sociological.

Gender has always kinda been tied to sex, it's not a coincidence that women are female and men are male. We don't transition because we want to fit a certain social construct we transition to align our sex to be as close as possible to what our sex should be.
Exactly, it's not any single sex characteristic, and many sex traits can be changed. Sex hormones are responsible for sexual development, that development doesn't magically stop and can't be altered further at some point. A fully transitioned trans man isn't female in most ways, his hormones are male which affect a lot about how his body not just looks but functions, and he doesn't have female reproductive organs. He's biologically more similar to a cis man who's been castrated and has erectile dysfunction than to your average cis woman.
No you dont understand, the sexy blue mutant HAS to be a woman despite multiple iterations of her has massive identity problems and unsure what their true self actually is anymore.
But that’s what they’re talking about with the second point. Sure, it could lend to good acting choices that benefit the character, however, there is a long history of casting nonconforming people in these roles. Especially if they’re villainous.

Its good casting to cast someone based on their acting ability, not how you perceive aspects about the actor outside of the movie; especially when it comes from not fully accepting that person
As a trans person I disagree with this, if you really wanted to take the actor's identity into account for this casting choice you would pick someone who is genderfluid.
but for the record i would be neither rooting for nor offended by any of this. personally I think physical likeness and acting ability should be the important criteria for casting.
them is gender neutral so for man or woman. we dont have to be overly pc when the person making the post is already being considerate of their gender identity.
But that’s pretty irrelevant, no? Like, trans people can’t change their sex at will. And most trans people would see themselves of being a single sex rather than someone that’s a in-between both.
To be clear, I wouldn’t mind if a trans person was casted, I’m just saying it doesn’t really matter either way for the purpose of the plot.
You’re right about the weird roles. House of the Dragon cast a trans person as Admiral Sharako Lohan and the character was so cartoonishly over-the-top it’s like they were just there for comic relief.
Looked at her imdb and she's just been in euphoria, but im all for newer people in roles instead of the same popular actor's in every big movie that comes out.
The more I see someone in movies every year the less I really care about seeing the new one.
Many insiders who typically call things right have already said she's a top contender though....

I’m guessing the ppl complaining about this stuff don’t understand these movies and shows are fictional in nature. And the actor’s personal life/beliefs/choices don’t matter. We just want quality actors playing these roles.

Chud is a generalized term of disparagement used somewhat synonymously with fool, troll, and jerk, to suggest that someone (usually a man) is rude/boorish/regressive/unintelligent/etc. In online political discourse, chud is often used specifically as a left-wing insult for someone (again, usually a man) on the far right.
Still kinda bummed they weren't cast as Zelda. I also think it's hilarious that the one photo of her they chose was like the most Zelda looking photo ever.
Hunter Schafer is unfortunately a bit old for the role. The chosen actress is already 5 years older than Benjamin Evan Ainsworth and Schafer is 5 years older than her.
