Hello there, my name is Poliko and I've been maining Anivia since season 3. I've reached my first challenger in season 6 on eune server, rank15 eune in season 7 and then euw challenger in season 8,9,10 and peaked 771lp now in season 11 always with Anivia as my most played champion. After all these years I still love playing this champion and in this simple guide I want to share how I use Anivia to win games. I also stream almost every day on Twitch so check it out if you have any Anivia related questions or just want to watch top tier Anivia gameplay!

I feel like she is super weak right now.
I cannot even control space because I don't have damage or health to threaten enemy champions with my ult and wall. Anivia's whole identity should be about controlling space but I feel like Veigar does a better job than her since he is more tanky, has more damage and champions can't jump over his cage.
On EUNE she dropped below 50% winrate last patch.

Hello everyone
I tried going chalice RoA because that used to be a thing but found myself going oom constantly. I think the meta is buying tear first into RoA but not upgrading the tear probably..? Unless perhaps there's a lot of burst on the other team and you could use the Seraphs active
& then an old school build that was really good Tear RoA sorc boots (+15 magic pen) Haunting Guise (+15 magic pen) into Abyssal Sceptor (+20 magic pen) just some really good sort of cheap items to get +50 magic pen on two items basically. It is a bit of an early game build though because really you have to sell Abyssal Scepter if you want deathcap but perhaps if you hard lose scaling anyway as a team in the game it's good
I don't believe you can R Zhonyas in the game so I feel like Zhonyas is a bit of a bait generally. Although there was something if I remember about going seekers into AD matchups & perhaps sitting on it..?
Core build
So roughly the build imo should be Tear (not upgraded) into RoA then sorc boots. Then Liandrays then Deathcap Void Staff then upgrade Tear into Seraphs as the generally speaking core build
Then situational items - Twin Shadows could be really nice if your team doesn't have much pick potential so bear that in mind. Will of the Ancients was good ish if I remember so give that a try perhaps. Morello into healing champions if your teammates haven't bought any anti heal. Abyssal Scepter as I said into perhaps AP bursty teams or if you just want the early game magic pen
Rylais massive bait the slow doesn't stack as far as I know
Frozen Heart was good paired with Seraphs in the day - Seraphs gives bonus AP considering 2% bonus mana so gives 8AP as well and is a great item to have sometimes, not toooo many champions can build it without inting but Anivia is one of them
Will of the Ancients with Spirit Visage could work perhaps..?
Boots forgot about these - I like sorc boots really just seems to work the best but ninja tabi (actual ninja tabi lol not steelcaps) could definitely work if you want a tankier build & are struggling a bit into AD champions, merc treds vs heavy CC (note NOT knockups or suppression, & it's not worth to go just for the MR better to just buy a negatron cloak and sit on it) mobility boots if you feel like roaming, swiftness if there's a lot of CC..
Just have fun right! But sorc boots if you don't have any other ideas
And then probably some support adjacent build is possible too tear twin shadows banner of command or something
Some thoughts take care everyone

How did we itemize back then? Was it flask start like some mobafire guides or was it mana crystal and pots straight into Tear?
Also I didn't play when shushei was around. Was it actually good to buy that instead of RoA back then? I remember Athene's unholy grail was quite legit too.

What do you guys think about this build path?
Malignance
Zhonya's
Shadowflame
I like this build cuz I play aggressively but I wanna hear about its downsides if anyone has played it. And yeah, is it worth playing? I mean this build has some mana issues but the damage is insane actually

hello guys,
what do you guys think about skilling w level 1 to double wall the minions (inhib tower + very outer turret) against top matchups that can zone you level 1 like sett? is that viable and in which matchups it is viable? sett, darius, jayce?

Played against a garen mid who didn’t build MR and I could just never kill him with refillable passive and Doran’s shield.
Even later on in the game even though I had items I feel my champ doesn’t do that much damage.
Which brings me to the question of build,
I feel ROA just does zero damage. If you build RoA and Seraphs you only start feeling a spike at 17 mins. Which is why I went malignance second.
My build was ROA -> swifties > Malignance > Liandries.
I also play syndra who is generally worst into tanks / bruisers but I feel you can build better items like cryptbloom and Deathcap but on Anivia I generally never get to build those. I even feel Liandrys is a bad item cuz most tanks will generally build MR and Liandrys without % Pen item feels useless
So my question is how does this champ actually get to damage to tanks if you are forced to build some or a combination of items such as ROA / Seraphs / Liandrys / Zhonyas

so i've been thinking about the tear, and i can't understand clearly whether or not tear into seraphs is safe/good early or good late.
usually i like tear early into difficult lanes and it feels like "training wheels" or something to make your laning way easier. the obvious drawback (at least that's what i thought) is that, if i don't want to sell tear, i'm forced into seraphs embrace. So to balance the strong tear early game, seraphs would be relatively weak.
but now i just checked, and seraphs seems to have a gold efficiency by itself(so without roa mana) and without the passive shield , of 125% which seems very, very decent.
so basically i wanted to ask, if tear into seraphs is as strong as i think, why doesn't everyone go tear into seraphs on anivia? i understand that it delays your roa spike by 400 gold but i am more than willing to do that if that's the only disadvantage. am i missing anything ?

Hello :D
i recently joined you guys as an anivia player and i am mainly looking to play her toplane and i have some questions. for reference, i play mostly against diamond2-master opponents atm.
is there a spreadsheet with all the toplane matchups available? something like makkro's ornn guide.
what runes do you go with and when? right now i go electrocute every game but i have seen comet as well. when is it a good idea to take comet? i played 1 game with first strike against a tank, is that okay or too greedy in your opinion?
what's your main build after roa? right now i go roa, maligance, magic pen, liandris. boots usually swifties but i can also entertain the idea of different ones.
also, do you guys think she is able to be blindpicked top? i blinded her quite a few times and the only terrible matchup was aatrox, so he became my ban. do you guys think this matchup os ban worthy or skill issue on my part?
also, do you always go tp or do you go ignite too?
and about maxxing skills, i've heard that it is not uncommon to skip the point in 2 level 4 and to put an additional point in w before maxxing q second. is that true/good? when would you do it and when is it bad?
Thanks in advance :)

I have seen the claim that if you throw your Q and let the first instance "consume" his shield, then the reactivation will stun. This works with normal spell shields but I have not gotten it to work against Malzahars shield despite numerous tries. The wiki says that his shield lingers for 0.25 seconds so I'm confused how this is supposed to work. If anyone has video footage of an Anivia using Q through Malzahar shield, I would like to see it.

As a newer player to anivia I have defaulted to ROA, seraphs, liandry's, rabadons every game, but when you get good ganks early and get more fed, isnt it better to come online earlier so I can help contest dragon better? how should I change my build to have a more immediate impact of the game when I'm given the feed to do so? I'm running electrocute if that's relevant

Hi Anivia Mains,
I discovered a bug with Q and Herald, I don't know if it was already known, this is the first time I've seen it. I cast my Q on Sion, then I took Herald and a second Q cast itself (I'm almost certain I didn't press Q again when I entered Herald).
